1 Kings 1
1Ki 1:1 Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat. 1 Ki 1:1 Now King David was old, advanced in age; and they covered him with clothes, but he could not keep warm. 1Ki 1:2 Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat. 1 Ki 1:2 So his servants said to him, "Let them seek a young virgin for my lord the king, and let her attend the king and become his nurse; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm." 1Ki 1:3 So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king. 1 Ki 1:3 So they searched for a beautiful girl throughout all the territory of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king. 1Ki 1:4 And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not. 1 Ki 1:4 The girl was very beautiful; and she became the king's nurse and served him, but the king did not cohabit with her. 1Ki 1:5 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. 1 Ki 1:5 Now Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, "I will be king." 1Ki 1:6 And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom. 1 Ki 1:6 His father had never crossed him at any time by asking, "Why have you done so?" And he was also a very handsome man, and he was born after Absalom. 1Ki 1:7 And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him. 1 Ki 1:7 He had conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest; and following Adonijah they helped him. 1Ki 1:8 But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adonijah. 1 Ki 1:8 But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah. 1Ki 1:9 And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by Enrogel, and called all his brethren the king's sons, and all the men of Judah the king's servants: 1 Ki 1:9 Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel; and he invited all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants. Kg1 1:9 καὶ ἐθυσίασεν Αδωνιας πρόβατα καὶ μόσχους καὶ ἄρνας μετὰ λίθου τοῦ Ζωελεθ ὃς ἦν ἐχόμενα τῆς πηγῆς Ρωγηλ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἁδροὺς Ιουδα παῖδας τοῦ βασιλέως
1Ki 1:10 But Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not. 1 Ki 1:10 But he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the mighty men, and Solomon his brother. 1Ki 1:11 Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not? 1 Ki 1:11 Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, "Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith has become king, and David our lord does not know it? Kg1 1:11 καὶ εἶπεν Ναθαν πρὸς Βηρσαβεε μητέρα Σαλωμων λέγων οὐκ ἤκουσας ὅτι ἐβασίλευσεν Αδωνιας υἱὸς Αγγιθ καὶ ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν Δαυιδ οὐκ ἔγνω
1Ki 1:12 Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon. 1 Ki 1:12 So now come, please let me give you counsel and save your life and the life of your son Solomon. Kg1 1:12 καὶ νῦν δεῦρο συμβουλεύσω σοι δὴ συμβουλίαν καὶ ἐξελοῦ τὴν ψυχήν σου καὶ τὴν ψυχὴν τοῦ υἱοῦ σου Σαλωμων
1Ki 1:13 Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign? 1 Ki 1:13 Go at once to King David and say to him, 'Have you not, my lord, O king, sworn to your maidservant, saying, "Surely Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne"? Why then has Adonijah become king?' Kg1 1:13 δεῦρο εἴσελθε πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Δαυιδ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγουσα οὐχὶ σύ κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ ὤμοσας τῇ δούλῃ σου λέγων ὅτι Σαλωμων ὁ υἱός σου βασιλεύσει μετ᾽ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθιεῖται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου καὶ τί ὅτι ἐβασίλευσεν Αδωνιας
1Ki 1:14 Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words. 1 Ki 1:14 "Behold, while you are still there speaking with the king, I will come in after you and confirm your words." Kg1 1:14 καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔτι λαλούσης σου ἐκεῖ μετὰ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐγὼ εἰσελεύσομαι ὀπίσω σου καὶ πληρώσω τοὺς λόγους σου
1Ki 1:15 And Bathsheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king. 1 Ki 1:15 So Bathsheba went in to the king in the bedroom. Now the king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering to the king. Kg1 1:15 καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Βηρσαβεε πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα εἰς τὸ ταμίειον καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς πρεσβύτης σφόδρα καὶ Αβισακ ἡ Σωμανῖτις ἦν λειτουργοῦσα τῷ βασιλεῖ
1Ki 1:16 And Bathsheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou? 1 Ki 1:16 Then Bathsheba bowed and prostrated herself before the king. And the king said, "What do you wish?" Kg1 1:16 καὶ ἔκυψεν Βηρσαβεε καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεύς τί ἐστίν σοι
1Ki 1:17 And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the LORD thy God unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne. 1 Ki 1:17 She said to him, "My lord, you swore to your maidservant by the Lord your God, saying, 'Surely your son Solomon shall be king after me and he shall sit on my throne.' Kg1 1:17 ἡ δὲ εἶπεν κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ σὺ ὤμοσας ἐν κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ σου τῇ δούλῃ σου λέγων ὅτι Σαλωμων ὁ υἱός σου βασιλεύσει μετ᾽ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου
1Ki 1:18 And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not: 1 Ki 1:18 Now, behold, Adonijah is king; and now, my lord the king, you do not know it. Kg1 1:18 καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ Αδωνιας ἐβασίλευσεν καὶ σύ κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ οὐκ ἔγνως
1Ki 1:19 And he hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called. 1 Ki 1:19 He has sacrificed oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the sons of the king and Abiathar the priest and Joab the commander of the army, but he has not invited Solomon your servant. Kg1 1:19 καὶ ἐθυσίασεν μόσχους καὶ ἄρνας καὶ πρόβατα εἰς πλῆθος καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ Αβιαθαρ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ Ιωαβ τὸν ἄρχοντα τῆς δυνάμεως καὶ τὸν Σαλωμων τὸν δοῦλόν σου οὐκ ἐκάλεσεν
1Ki 1:20 And thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him. 1 Ki 1:20 As for you now, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, to tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him. Kg1 1:20 καὶ σύ κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ παντὸς Ισραηλ πρὸς σὲ ἀπαγγεῖλαι αὐτοῖς τίς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως μετ᾽ αὐτόν
1Ki 1:21 Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders. 1 Ki 1:21 Otherwise it will come about, as soon as my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be considered offenders." 1Ki 1:22 And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in. 1 Ki 1:22 Behold, while she was still speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in. Kg1 1:22 καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔτι αὐτῆς λαλούσης μετὰ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης ἦλθεν
1Ki 1:23 And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground. 1 Ki 1:23 They told the king, saying, "Here is Nathan the prophet." And when he came in before the king, he prostrated himself before the king with his face to the ground. Kg1 1:23 καὶ ἀνηγγέλη τῷ βασιλεῖ ἰδοὺ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης καὶ εἰσῆλθεν κατὰ πρόσωπον τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν
1Ki 1:24 And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? 1 Ki 1:24 Then Nathan said, "My lord the king, have you said, 'Adonijah shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne'? Kg1 1:24 καὶ εἶπεν Ναθαν κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ σὺ εἶπας Αδωνιας βασιλεύσει ὀπίσω μου καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου
1Ki 1:25 For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king's sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah. 1 Ki 1:25 For he has gone down today and has sacrificed oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king's sons and the commanders of the army and Abiathar the priest, and behold, they are eating and drinking before him; and they say, 'Long live King Adonijah!' Kg1 1:25 ὅτι κατέβη σήμερον καὶ ἐθυσίασεν μόσχους καὶ ἄρνας καὶ πρόβατα εἰς πλῆθος καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας τῆς δυνάμεως καὶ Αβιαθαρ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ ἰδού εἰσιν ἐσθίοντες καὶ πίνοντες ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπαν ζήτω ὁ βασιλεὺς Αδωνιας
1Ki 1:26 But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called. 1 Ki 1:26 But me, even me your servant, and Zadok the priest and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada and your servant Solomon, he has not invited. 1Ki 1:27 Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? 1 Ki 1:27 Has this thing been done by my lord the king, and you have not shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" 1Ki 1:28 Then king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king. 1 Ki 1:28 Then King David said, "Call Bathsheba to me." And she came into the king's presence and stood before the king. Kg1 1:28 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Δαυιδ καὶ εἶπεν καλέσατέ μοι τὴν Βηρσαβεε καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἔστη ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ
1Ki 1:29 And the king sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress, 1 Ki 1:29 The king vowed and said, "As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life from all distress, Kg1 1:29 καὶ ὤμοσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ εἶπεν ζῇ κύριος ὃς ἐλυτρώσατο τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐκ πάσης θλίψεως
1Ki 1:30 Even as I sware unto thee by the LORD God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day. 1 Ki 1:30 surely as I vowed to you by the Lord the God of Israel, saying, 'Your son Solomon shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place'; I will indeed do so this day." Kg1 1:30 ὅτι καθὼς ὤμοσά σοι ἐν κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ Ισραηλ λέγων ὅτι Σαλωμων ὁ υἱός σου βασιλεύσει μετ᾽ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου ἀντ᾽ ἐμοῦ ὅτι οὕτως ποιήσω τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ
1Ki 1:31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever. 1 Ki 1:31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground, and prostrated herself before the king and said, "May my lord King David live forever." 1Ki 1:32 And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king. 1 Ki 1:32 Then King David said, "Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada." And they came into the king's presence. Kg1 1:32 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ καλέσατέ μοι Σαδωκ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ Ναθαν τὸν προφήτην καὶ Βαναιαν υἱὸν Ιωδαε καὶ εἰσῆλθον ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως
1Ki 1:33 The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon: 1 Ki 1:33 The king said to them, "Take with you the servants of your lord, and have my son Solomon ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon. Kg1 1:33 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς αὐτοῖς λάβετε τοὺς δούλους τοῦ κυρίου ὑμῶν μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐπιβιβάσατε τὸν υἱόν μου Σαλωμων ἐπὶ τὴν ἡμίονον τὴν ἐμὴν καὶ καταγάγετε αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν Γιων
1Ki 1:34 And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon. 1 Ki 1:34 Let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there as king over Israel, and blow the trumpet and say, 'Long live King Solomon!' Kg1 1:34 καὶ χρισάτω αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης εἰς βασιλέα ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ σαλπίσατε κερατίνῃ καὶ ἐρεῖτε ζήτω ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμων
1Ki 1:35 Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah. 1 Ki 1:35 Then you shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne and be king in my place; for I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and Judah." Kg1 1:35 καὶ καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου καὶ αὐτὸς βασιλεύσει ἀντ᾽ ἐμοῦ καὶ ἐγὼ ἐνετειλάμην τοῦ εἶναι εἰς ἡγούμενον ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ Ιουδα
1Ki 1:36 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the LORD God of my lord the king say so too. 1 Ki 1:36 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king and said, "Amen! Thus may the Lord, the God of my lord the king, say. Kg1 1:36 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ εἶπεν γένοιτο οὕτως πιστώσαι κύριος ὁ θεὸς τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως
1Ki 1:37 As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David. 1 Ki 1:37 As the Lord has been with my lord the king, so may He be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David!" Kg1 1:37 καθὼς ἦν κύριος μετὰ τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως οὕτως εἴη μετὰ Σαλωμων καὶ μεγαλύναι τὸν θρόνον αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ τὸν θρόνον τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως Δαυιδ
1Ki 1:38 So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon. 1 Ki 1:38 So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David's mule, and brought him to Gihon. Kg1 1:38 καὶ κατέβη Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης καὶ Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε καὶ ὁ χερεθθι καὶ ὁ φελεθθι καὶ ἐπεκάθισαν τὸν Σαλωμων ἐπὶ τὴν ἡμίονον τοῦ βασιλέως Δαυιδ καὶ ἀπήγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν Γιων
1Ki 1:39 And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. 1Ki 1:52 And Solomon said, If he will shew himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die. 1 Ki 1:52 Solomon said, "If he is a worthy man, not one of his hairs will fall to the ground; but if wickedness is found in him, he will die." 1Ki 1:53 So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar.
