Job 29
Job 29:1 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said, Job 29:1 And Job again took up his discourse and said, Job 29:1 ἔτι δὲ προσθεὶς Ιωβ εἶπεν τῷ προοιμίῳ
Job 29:2 Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me; Job 29:2 "Oh that I were as in months gone by, As in the days when God watched over me; Job 29:2 τίς ἄν με θείη κατὰ μῆνα ἔμπροσθεν ἡμερῶν ὧν με ὁ θεὸς ἐφύλαξεν
Job 29:3 When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness; Job 29:3 When His lamp shone over my head, And by His light I walked through darkness; Job 29:3 ὡς ὅτε ηὔγει ὁ λύχνος αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ κεφαλῆς μου ὅτε τῷ φωτὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπορευόμην ἐν σκότει
Job 29:4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle; Job 29:4 As I was in the prime of my days, When the friendship of God was over my tent; Job 29:4 ὅτε ἤμην ἐπιβρίθων ὁδοῖς ὅτε ὁ θεὸς ἐπισκοπὴν ἐποιεῖτο τοῦ οἴκου μου
Job 29:5 When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me; Job 29:5 When the Almighty was yet with me, And my children were around me; Job 29:5 ὅτε ἤμην ὑλώδης λίαν κύκλῳ δέ μου οἱ παῖδες
Job 29:6 When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil; Job 29:6 When my steps were bathed in butter, And the rock poured out for me streams of oil! Job 29:6 ὅτε ἐχέοντό μου αἱ ὁδοὶ βουτύρῳ τὰ δὲ ὄρη μου ἐχέοντο γάλακτι
Job 29:7 When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street! Job 29:7 "When I went out to the gate of the city, When I took my seat in the square, Job 29:7 ὅτε ἐξεπορευόμην ὄρθριος ἐν πόλει ἐν δὲ πλατείαις ἐτίθετό μου ὁ δίφρος

Job 29:10 The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth. Job 29:10 The voice of the nobles was hushed, And their tongue stuck to their palate. Job 29:10 οἱ δὲ ἀκούσαντες ἐμακάρισάν με καὶ γλῶσσα αὐτῶν τῷ λάρυγγι αὐτῶν ἐκολλήθη
Job 29:11 When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me: Job 29:11 "For when the ear heard, it called me blessed, And when the eye saw, it gave witness of me, Job 29:11 ὅτι οὖς ἤκουσεν καὶ ἐμακάρισέν με ὀφθαλμὸς δὲ ἰδών με ἐξέκλινεν
Job 29:12 Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. Job 29:12 Because I delivered the poor who cried for help, And the orphan who had no helper. Job 29:12 διέσωσα γὰρ πτωχὸν ἐκ χειρὸς δυνάστου καὶ ὀρφανῷ ᾧ οὐκ ἦν βοηθός ἐβοήθησα

Job 29:16 I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out. Job 29:16 "I was a father to the needy, And I investigated the case which I did not know. Job 29:16 ἐγὼ ἤμην πατὴρ ἀδυνάτων δίκην δέ ἣν οὐκ ᾔδειν ἐξιχνίασα
Job 29:17 And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth. Job 29:17 "I broke the jaws of the wicked And snatched the prey from his teeth. Job 29:17 συνέτριψα δὲ μύλας ἀδίκων ἐκ δὲ μέσου τῶν ὀδόντων αὐτῶν ἅρπαγμα ἐξέσπασα
Job 29:18 Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand. Job 29:18 "Then I thought, 'I shall die in my nest, And I shall multiply my days as the sand. Job 29:18 εἶπα δέ ἡ ἡλικία μου γηράσει ὥσπερ στέλεχος φοίνικος πολὺν χρόνον βιώσω
Job 29:19 My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch. Job 29:19 'My root is spread out to the waters, And dew lies all night on my branch. Job 29:19 ἡ ῥίζα μου διήνοικται ἐπὶ ὕδατος καὶ δρόσος αὐλισθήσεται ἐν τῷ θερισμῷ μου
Job 29:20 My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand. Job 29:20 'My glory is ever new with me, And my bow is renewed in my hand.' Job 29:20 ἡ δόξα μου καινὴ μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ καὶ τὸ τόξον μου ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ πορεύσεται
Job 29:21 Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel. Job 29:21 "To me they listened and waited, And kept silent for my counsel. Job 29:21 ἐμοῦ ἀκούσαντες προσέσχον ἐσιώπησαν δὲ ἐπὶ τῇ ἐμῇ βουλῇ
Job 29:22 After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them. Job 29:22 "After my words they did not speak again, And my speech dropped on them. Job 29:22 ἐπὶ δὲ τῷ ἐμῷ ῥήματι οὐ προσέθεντο περιχαρεῖς δὲ ἐγίνοντο ὁπόταν αὐτοῖς ἐλάλουν
Job 29:23 And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain. Job 29:23 "They waited for me as for the rain, And opened their mouth as for the spring rain. Job 29:23 ὥσπερ γῆ διψῶσα προσδεχομένη τὸν ὑετόν οὕτως οὗτοι τὴν ἐμὴν λαλιάν
Job 29:24 If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down. Job 29:24 "I smiled on them when they did not believe, And the light of my face they did not cast down. Job 29:24 ἐὰν γελάσω πρὸς αὐτούς οὐ μὴ πιστεύσωσιν καὶ φῶς τοῦ προσώπου μου οὐκ ἀπέπιπτεν
Job 29:25 I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners. Job 29:25 "I chose a way for them and sat as chief, And dwelt as a king among the troops, As one who comforted the mourners. Job 29:25 ἐξελεξάμην ὁδὸν αὐτῶν καὶ ἐκάθισα ἄρχων καὶ κατεσκήνουν ὡσεὶ βασιλεὺς ἐν μονοζώνοις ὃν τρόπον παθεινοὺς παρακαλῶν
