Psalm 44
Psa 44:1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old. Psa 44:1 O God, we have heard with our ears, Our fathers have told us The work that You did in their days, In the days of old. Psa 44:1 εἰς τὸ τέλος τοῖς υἱοῖς Κορε εἰς σύνεσιν ψαλμός
Psa 44:2 How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out. Psa 44:2 You with Your own hand drove out the nations; Then You planted them; You afflicted the peoples, Then You spread them abroad. Psa 44:2 ὁ θεός ἐν τοῖς ὠσὶν ἡμῶν ἠκούσαμεν οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν ἀνήγγειλαν ἡμῖν ἔργον ὃ εἰργάσω ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις αὐτῶν ἐν ἡμέραις ἀρχαίαις
Psa 44:3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them. Psa 44:3 For by their own sword they did not possess the land, And their own arm did not save them, But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence, For You favored them. Psa 44:3 ἡ χείρ σου ἔθνη ἐξωλέθρευσεν καὶ κατεφύτευσας αὐτούς ἐκάκωσας λαοὺς καὶ ἐξέβαλες αὐτούς
Psa 44:4 Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob. Psa 44:4 You are my King, O God; Command victories for Jacob. Psa 44:4 οὐ γὰρ ἐν τῇ ῥομφαίᾳ αὐτῶν ἐκληρονόμησαν γῆν καὶ ὁ βραχίων αὐτῶν οὐκ ἔσωσεν αὐτούς ἀλλ᾽ ἡ δεξιά σου καὶ ὁ βραχίων σου καὶ ὁ φωτισμὸς τοῦ προσώπου σου ὅτι εὐδόκησας ἐν αὐτοῖς
Psa 44:5 Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. Psa 44:5 Through You we will push back our adversaries; Through Your name we will trample down those who rise up against us. Psa 44:5 σὺ εἶ αὐτὸς ὁ βασιλεύς μου καὶ ὁ θεός μου ὁ ἐντελλόμενος τὰς σωτηρίας Ιακωβ
Psa 44:6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. Psa 44:6 For I will not trust in my bow, Nor will my sword save me. Psa 44:6 ἐν σοὶ τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ἡμῶν κερατιοῦμεν καὶ ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ἐξουθενώσομεν τοὺς ἐπανιστανομένους ἡμῖν
Psa 44:7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. Psa 44:7 But You have saved us from our adversaries, And You have put to shame those who hate us. Psa 44:7 οὐ γὰρ ἐπὶ τῷ τόξῳ μου ἐλπιῶ καὶ ἡ ῥομφαία μου οὐ σώσει με
Psa 44:8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah. Psa 44:8 In God we have boasted all day long, And we will give thanks to Your name forever. Selah. Psa 44:8 ἔσωσας γὰρ ἡμᾶς ἐκ τῶν θλιβόντων ἡμᾶς καὶ τοὺς μισοῦντας ἡμᾶς κατῄσχυνας
Psa 44:9 But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies. Psa 44:9 Yet You have rejected us and brought us to dishonor, And do not go out with our armies. Psa 44:9 ἐν τῷ θεῷ ἐπαινεσθησόμεθα ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν καὶ ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ἐξομολογησόμεθα εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα διάψαλμα
Psa 44:10 Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves. Psa 44:10 You cause us to turn back from the adversary; And those who hate us have taken spoil for themselves. Psa 44:10 νυνὶ δὲ ἀπώσω καὶ κατῄσχυνας ἡμᾶς καὶ οὐκ ἐξελεύσῃ ἐν ταῖς δυνάμεσιν ἡμῶν
Psa 44:11 Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen. Psa 44:11 You give us as sheep to be eaten And have scattered us among the nations. Psa 44:11 ἀπέστρεψας ἡμᾶς εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω παρὰ τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ἡμῶν καὶ οἱ μισοῦντες ἡμᾶς διήρπαζον ἑαυτοῖς
Psa 44:12 Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price. Psa 44:12 You sell Your people cheaply, And have not profited by their sale. Psa 44:12 ἔδωκας ἡμᾶς ὡς πρόβατα βρώσεως καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν διέσπειρας ἡμᾶς
Psa 44:13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. Psa 44:13 You make us a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and a derision to those around us. Psa 44:13 ἀπέδου τὸν λαόν σου ἄνευ τιμῆς καὶ οὐκ ἦν πλῆθος ἐν τοῖς ἀλλάγμασιν αὐτῶν
Psa 44:14 Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people. Psa 44:14 You make us a byword among the nations, A laughingstock among the peoples. Psa 44:14 ἔθου ἡμᾶς ὄνειδος τοῖς γείτοσιν ἡμῶν μυκτηρισμὸν καὶ καταγέλωτα τοῖς κύκλῳ ἡμῶν
Psa 44:15 My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me, Psa 44:15 All day long my dishonor is before me And my humiliation has overwhelmed me, Psa 44:15 ἔθου ἡμᾶς εἰς παραβολὴν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν κίνησιν κεφαλῆς ἐν τοῖς λαοῖς
Psa 44:16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger. Psa 44:16 Because of the voice of him who reproaches and reviles, Because of the presence of the enemy and the avenger. Psa 44:16 ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν ἡ ἐντροπή μου κατεναντίον μού ἐστιν καὶ ἡ αἰσχύνη τοῦ προσώπου μου ἐκάλυψέν με
Psa 44:17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. Psa 44:17 All this has come upon us, but we have not forgotten You, And we have not dealt falsely with Your covenant. Psa 44:17 ἀπὸ φωνῆς ὀνειδίζοντος καὶ παραλαλοῦντος ἀπὸ προσώπου ἐχθροῦ καὶ ἐκδιώκοντος
Psa 44:18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way; Psa 44:18 Our heart has not turned back, And our steps have not deviated from Your way, Psa 44:18 ταῦτα πάντα ἦλθεν ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς καὶ οὐκ ἐπελαθόμεθά σου καὶ οὐκ ἠδικήσαμεν ἐν διαθήκῃ σου
Psa 44:19 Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death. Psa 44:19 Yet You have crushed us in a place of jackals And covered us with the shadow of death. Psa 44:19 καὶ οὐκ ἀπέστη εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω ἡ καρδία ἡμῶν καὶ ἐξέκλινας τὰς τρίβους ἡμῶν ἀπὸ τῆς ὁδοῦ σου
Psa 44:20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god; Psa 44:20 If we had forgotten the name of our God Or extended our hands to a strange god, Psa 44:20 ὅτι ἐταπείνωσας ἡμᾶς ἐν τόπῳ κακώσεως καὶ ἐπεκάλυψεν ἡμᾶς σκιὰ θανάτου
Psa 44:21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart. Psa 44:21 Would not God find this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart. Psa 44:21 εἰ ἐπελαθόμεθα τοῦ ὀνόματος τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν καὶ εἰ διεπετάσαμεν χεῖρας ἡμῶν πρὸς θεὸν ἀλλότριον
Psa 44:22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. Psa 44:22 But for Your sake we are killed all day long; We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. Psa 44:22 οὐχὶ ὁ θεὸς ἐκζητήσει ταῦτα αὐτὸς γὰρ γινώσκει τὰ κρύφια τῆς καρδίας
Psa 44:23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. Psa 44:23 Arouse Yourself, why do You sleep, O Lord? Awake, do not reject us forever. Psa 44:23 ὅτι ἕνεκα σοῦ θανατούμεθα ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν ἐλογίσθημεν ὡς πρόβατα σφαγῆς
Psa 44:24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression? Psa 44:24 Why do You hide Your face And forget our affliction and our oppression? Psa 44:24 ἐξεγέρθητι ἵνα τί ὑπνοῖς κύριε ἀνάστηθι καὶ μὴ ἀπώσῃ εἰς τέλος
Psa 44:25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth. Psa 44:25 For our soul has sunk down into the dust; Our body cleaves to the earth. Psa 44:25 ἵνα τί τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἀποστρέφεις ἐπιλανθάνῃ τῆς πτωχείας ἡμῶν καὶ τῆς θλίψεως ἡμῶν
Psa 44:26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake. Psa 44:26 Rise up, be our help, And redeem us for the sake of Your lovingkindness. Psa:44:26:ὅτι ἐταπεινώθη εἰς χοῦν ἡ ψυχὴ ἡμῶν ἐκολλήθη εἰς γῆν ἡ γαστὴρ ἡμῶν Psa 43:27 ἀνάστα κύριε βοήθησον ἡμῖν καὶ λύτρωσαι ἡμᾶς ἕνεκεν τοῦ ὀνόματός σου
