Matthew 11
Mat 11:1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. (kjv) Mat 11:1 When Jesus had finished giving instructions to His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and preach in their cities. Mat 11:1 καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ἐτέλεσεν ὁ ἰησοῦς διατάσσων τοῖς δώδεκα μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ, μετέβη ἐκεῖθεν τοῦ διδάσκειν καὶ κηρύσσειν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν.
Mat 11:2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, (kjv) Mat 11:2 Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples Mat 11:2 ὁ δὲ ἰωάννης ἀκούσας ἐν τῶ δεσμωτηρίῳ τὰ ἔργα τοῦ χριστοῦ πέμψας διὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ
Mat 11:3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? (kjv) Mat 11:3 and said to Him," Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?" Mat 11:3 εἶπεν αὐτῶ, σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἢ ἕτερον προσδοκῶμεν;
Mat 11:4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: (kjv) Mat 11:4 Jesus answered and said to them," Go and report to John what you hear and see: Mat 11:4 καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, πορευθέντες ἀπαγγείλατε ἰωάννῃ ἃ ἀκούετε καὶ βλέπετε·

Mat 11:6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. (kjv) Mat 11:6 And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me." Mat 11:6 καὶ μακάριός ἐστιν ὃς ἐὰν μὴ σκανδαλισθῇ ἐν ἐμοί.

(kjv) Mat 11:7 As these men were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John," What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? Mat 11:7 τούτων δὲ πορευομένων ἤρξατο ὁ ἰησοῦς λέγειν τοῖς ὄχλοις περὶ ἰωάννου, τί ἐξήλθατε εἰς τὴν ἔρημον θεάσασθαι; κάλαμον ὑπὸ ἀνέμου σαλευόμενον;
Mat 11:8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. (kjv) Mat 11:8 But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Those who wear soft clothing are in kings' palaces! Mat 11:8 ἀλλὰ τί ἐξήλθατε ἰδεῖν; ἄνθρωπον ἐν μαλακοῖς ἠμφιεσμένον; ἰδοὺ οἱ τὰ μαλακὰ φοροῦντες ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις τῶν βασιλέων εἰσίν.
Mat 11:9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. (kjv) Mat 11:9 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet. Mat 11:9 ἀλλὰ τί ἐξήλθατε ἰδεῖν; προφήτην; ναί, λέγω ὑμῖν, καὶ περισσότερον προφήτου.
Mat 11:10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. (kjv) Mat 11:10 This is the one about whom it is written, 'Behold, I send My messenger ahead of You, Who will prepare Your way before You. ' Mat 11:10 οὖτός ἐστιν περὶ οὖ γέγραπται, ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω τὸν ἄγγελόν μου πρὸ προσώπου σου, ὃς κατασκευάσει τὴν ὁδόν σου ἔμπροσθέν σου.
Mat 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. (kjv) Mat 11:11 Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Mat 11:11 ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐκ ἐγήγερται ἐν γεννητοῖς γυναικῶν μείζων ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ· ὁ δὲ μικρότερος ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν μείζων αὐτοῦ ἐστιν.

(kjv) Mat 11:12 From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force. Mat 11:12 ἀπὸ δὲ τῶν ἡμερῶν ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ ἕως ἄρτι ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν βιάζεται, καὶ βιασταὶ ἁρπάζουσιν αὐτήν.

Mat 11:14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. (kjv) Mat 11:14 And if you are willing to accept it, John himself is Elijah who was to come. Mat 11:14 καὶ εἰ θέλετε δέξασθαι, αὐτός ἐστιν ἠλίας ὁ μέλλων ἔρχεσθαι.
Mat 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. (kjv) Mat 11:15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear. Mat 11:15 ὁ ἔχων ὦτα ἀκουέτω.
Mat 11:16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, (kjv) Mat 11:16 "But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places, who call out to the other children, Mat 11:16 τίνι δὲ ὁμοιώσω τὴν γενεὰν ταύτην; ὁμοία ἐστὶν παιδίοις καθημένοις ἐν ταῖς ἀγοραῖς ἃ προσφωνοῦντα τοῖς ἑτέροις
Mat 11:17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. (kjv) Mat 11:17 and say, 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn. ' Mat 11:17 λέγουσιν, ηὐλήσαμεν ὑμῖν καὶ οὐκ ὠρχήσασθε· ἐθρηνήσαμεν καὶ οὐκ ἐκόψασθε.
Mat 11:18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. (kjv) Mat 11:18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon! ' Mat 11:18 ἦλθεν γὰρ ἰωάννης μήτε ἐσθίων μήτε πίνων, καὶ λέγουσιν, δαιμόνιον ἔχει·
Mat 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children. (kjv) Mat 11:19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners! 'Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds." Mat 11:19 ἦλθεν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐσθίων καὶ πίνων, καὶ λέγουσιν, ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπος φάγος καὶ οἰνοπότης, τελωνῶν φίλος καὶ ἁμαρτωλῶν. καὶ ἐδικαιώθη ἡ σοφία ἀπὸ τῶν ἔργων αὐτῆς.
Mat 11:20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: (kjv) Mat 11:20 Then He began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent. Mat 11:20 τότε ἤρξατο ὀνειδίζειν τὰς πόλεις ἐν αἷς ἐγένοντο αἱ πλεῖσται δυνάμεις αὐτοῦ, ὅτι οὐ μετενόησαν·
Mat 11:21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. (kjv) Mat 11:21 "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Mat 11:21 οὐαί σοι, χοραζίν· οὐαί σοι, βηθσαϊδά· ὅτι εἰ ἐν τύρῳ καὶ σιδῶνι ἐγένοντο αἱ δυνάμεις αἱ γενόμεναι ἐν ὑμῖν, πάλαι ἂν ἐν σάκκῳ καὶ σποδῶ μετενόησαν.
Mat 11:22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. (kjv) Mat 11:22 Nevertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you. Mat 11:22 πλὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, τύρῳ καὶ σιδῶνι ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως ἢ ὑμῖν.
Mat 11:23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. (kjv) Mat 11:23 And you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will descend to Hades; for if the miracles had occurred in Sodom which occurred in you, it would have remained to this day. Mat 11:23 καὶ σύ, καφαρναούμ, μὴ ἕως οὐρανοῦ ὑψωθήσῃ; ἕως ᾅδου καταβήσῃ. ὅτι εἰ ἐν σοδόμοις ἐγενήθησαν αἱ δυνάμεις αἱ γενόμεναι ἐν σοί, ἔμεινεν ἂν μέχρι τῆς σήμερον.
Mat 11:24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. (kjv) Mat 11:24 Nevertheless I say to you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you." Mat 11:24 πλὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι γῇ σοδόμων ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως ἢ σοί.
Mat 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. (kjv) Mat 11:25 At that time Jesus said," I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Mat 11:25 ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῶ καιρῶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, ἐξομολογοῦμαί σοι, πάτερ, κύριε τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῆς γῆς, ὅτι ἔκρυψας ταῦτα ἀπὸ σοφῶν καὶ συνετῶν καὶ ἀπεκάλυψας αὐτὰ νηπίοις·
Mat 11:26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. (kjv) Mat 11:26 Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. Mat 11:26 ναί, ὁ πατήρ, ὅτι οὕτως εὐδοκία ἐγένετο ἔμπροσθέν σου.
Mat 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. (kjv) Mat 11:27 All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. Mat 11:27 πάντα μοι παρεδόθη ὑπὸ τοῦ πατρός μου, καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐπιγινώσκει τὸν υἱὸν εἰ μὴ ὁ πατήρ, οὐδὲ τὸν πατέρα τις ἐπιγινώσκει εἰ μὴ ὁ υἱὸς καὶ ᾧ ἐὰν βούληται ὁ υἱὸς ἀποκαλύψαι.
Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (kjv) Mat 11:28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Mat 11:28 δεῦτε πρός με πάντες οἱ κοπιῶντες καὶ πεφορτισμένοι, κἀγὼ ἀναπαύσω ὑμᾶς.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (kjv) Mat 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Mat 11:29 ἄρατε τὸν ζυγόν μου ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς καὶ μάθετε ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ, ὅτι πραΰς εἰμι καὶ ταπεινὸς τῇ καρδίᾳ, καὶ εὑρήσετε ἀνάπαυσιν ταῖς ψυχαῖς ὑμῶν·
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.(kjv) Mat 11:30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Mat 11:30 ὁ γὰρ ζυγός μου χρηστὸς καὶ τὸ φορτίον μου ἐλαφρόν ἐστιν.
