Day 280 - Matthew 14-17
Mat 14:1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus, (kjv) Mat 14:1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the news about Jesus, Mat 14:1 ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῶ καιρῶ ἤκουσεν ἡρῴδης ὁ τετραάρχης τὴν ἀκοὴν ἰησοῦ,
Mat 14:2 And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. (kjv) Mat 14:2 and said to his servants," This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him." Mat 14:2 καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ, οὖτός ἐστιν ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτιστής· αὐτὸς ἠγέρθη ἀπὸ τῶν νεκρῶν, καὶ διὰ τοῦτο αἱ δυνάμεις ἐνεργοῦσιν ἐν αὐτῶ.
Mat 14:3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife. (kjv) Mat 14:3 For when Herod had John arrested, he bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip. Mat 14:3 ὁ γὰρ ἡρῴδης κρατήσας τὸν ἰωάννην ἔδησεν [αὐτὸν] καὶ ἐν φυλακῇ ἀπέθετο διὰ ἡρῳδιάδα τὴν γυναῖκα φιλίππου τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ·
Mat 14:4 For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her. (kjv) Mat 14:4 For John had been saying to him," It is not lawful for you to have her." Mat 14:4 ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὁ ἰωάννης αὐτῶ, οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἔχειν αὐτήν.
Mat 14:5 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. (kjv) Mat 14:5 Although Herod wanted to put him to death, he feared the crowd, because they regarded John as a prophet. Mat 14:5 καὶ θέλων αὐτὸν ἀποκτεῖναι ἐφοβήθη τὸν ὄχλον, ὅτι ὡς προφήτην αὐτὸν εἶχον.
Mat 14:6 But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. (kjv) Mat 14:6 But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod, Mat 14:6 γενεσίοις δὲ γενομένοις τοῦ ἡρῴδου ὠρχήσατο ἡ θυγάτηρ τῆς ἡρῳδιάδος ἐν τῶ μέσῳ καὶ ἤρεσεν τῶ ἡρῴδῃ,
Mat 14:7 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask. (kjv) Mat 14:7 so much that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. Mat 14:7 ὅθεν μεθ᾽ ὅρκου ὡμολόγησεν αὐτῇ δοῦναι ὃ ἐὰν αἰτήσηται.
Mat 14:8 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger. (kjv) Mat 14:8 Having been prompted by her mother, she said," Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist." Mat 14:8 ἡ δὲ προβιβασθεῖσα ὑπὸ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτῆς, δός μοι, φησίν, ὧδε ἐπὶ πίνακι τὴν κεφαλὴν ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ.
Mat 14:9 And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her. (kjv) Mat 14:9 Although he was grieved, the king commanded it to be given because of his oaths, and because of his dinner guests. Mat 14:9 καὶ λυπηθεὶς ὁ βασιλεὺς διὰ τοὺς ὅρκους καὶ τοὺς συνανακειμένους ἐκέλευσεν δοθῆναι,
Mat 14:10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison. (kjv) Mat 14:10 He sent and had John beheaded in the prison. Mat 14:10 καὶ πέμψας ἀπεκεφάλισεν [τὸν] ἰωάννην ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ·
Mat 14:11 And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother. (kjv) Mat 14:11 And his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother. Mat 14:11 καὶ ἠνέχθη ἡ κεφαλὴ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πίνακι καὶ ἐδόθη τῶ κορασίῳ, καὶ ἤνεγκεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς.
Mat 14:12 And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus. (kjv) Mat 14:12 His disciples came and took away the body and buried it; and they went and reported to Jesus. Mat 14:12 καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἦραν τὸ πτῶμα καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτό[ν], καὶ ἐλθόντες ἀπήγγειλαν τῶ ἰησοῦ.
Mat 14:13 When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. (kjv) Mat 14:13 Now when Jesus heard about John, He withdrew from there in a boat to a secluded place by Himself; and when the people heard of this, they followed Him on foot from the cities. Mat 14:13 ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν ἐκεῖθεν ἐν πλοίῳ εἰς ἔρημον τόπον κατ᾽ ἰδίαν· καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ ὄχλοι ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῶ πεζῇ ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων.
Mat 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. (kjv) Mat 14:14 When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick. Mat 14:14 καὶ ἐξελθὼν εἶδεν πολὺν ὄχλον, καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπ᾽ αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν τοὺς ἀρρώστους αὐτῶν.
Mat 14:15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. (kjv) Mat 14:15 When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said," This place is desolate and the hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves." Mat 14:15 ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης προσῆλθον αὐτῶ οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγοντες, ἔρημός ἐστιν ὁ τόπος καὶ ἡ ὥρα ἤδη παρῆλθεν· ἀπόλυσον τοὺς ὄχλους, ἵνα ἀπελθόντες εἰς τὰς κώμας ἀγοράσωσιν ἑαυτοῖς βρώματα.
Mat 14:16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. (kjv) Mat 14:16 But Jesus said to them," They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!" Mat 14:16 ὁ δὲ [ἰησοῦς] εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, οὐ χρείαν ἔχουσιν ἀπελθεῖν· δότε αὐτοῖς ὑμεῖς φαγεῖν.
Mat 14:17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. (kjv) Mat 14:17 They said to Him," We have here only five loaves and two fish." Mat 14:17 οἱ δὲ λέγουσιν αὐτῶ, οὐκ ἔχομεν ὧδε εἰ μὴ πέντε ἄρτους καὶ δύο ἰχθύας.
Mat 14:18 He said, Bring them hither to me. (kjv) Mat 14:18 And He said," Bring them here to Me." Mat 14:18 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, φέρετέ μοι ὧδε αὐτούς.
Mat 14:19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. (kjv) Mat 14:19 Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds, Mat 14:19 καὶ κελεύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνακλιθῆναι ἐπὶ τοῦ χόρτου, λαβὼν τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς δύο ἰχθύας, ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εὐλόγησεν καὶ κλάσας ἔδωκεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς τοὺς ἄρτους οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις.
Mat 14:20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. (kjv) Mat 14:20 and they all ate and were satisfied. They picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve full baskets. Mat 14:20 καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ ἦραν τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων δώδεκα κοφίνους πλήρεις.
Mat 14:21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children. (kjv) Mat 14:21 There were about five thousand men who ate, besides women and children. Mat 14:21 οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν ἄνδρες ὡσεὶ πεντακισχίλιοι χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων.
Mat 14:22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. (kjv) Mat 14:22 Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away. Mat 14:22 καὶ εὐθέως ἠνάγκασεν τοὺς μαθητὰς ἐμβῆναι εἰς τὸ πλοῖον καὶ προάγειν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ πέραν, ἕως οὖ ἀπολύσῃ τοὺς ὄχλους.
Mat 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. (kjv) Mat 14:23 After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone. Mat 14:23 καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος κατ᾽ ἰδίαν προσεύξασθαι. ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης μόνος ἦν ἐκεῖ.
Mat 14:24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. (kjv) Mat 14:24 But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary. Mat 14:24 τὸ δὲ πλοῖον ἤδη σταδίους πολλοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἀπεῖχεν, βασανιζόμενον ὑπὸ τῶν κυμάτων, ἦν γὰρ ἐναντίος ὁ ἄνεμος.
Mat 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. (kjv) Mat 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. Mat 14:25 τετάρτῃ δὲ φυλακῇ τῆς νυκτὸς ἦλθεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς περιπατῶν ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν.
Mat 14:26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. (kjv) Mat 14:26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said," It is a ghost!" And they cried out in fear. Mat 14:26 οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης περιπατοῦντα ἐταράχθησαν λέγοντες ὅτι φάντασμά ἐστιν, καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ φόβου ἔκραξαν.
Mat 14:27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. (kjv) Mat 14:27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying," Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid." Mat 14:27 εὐθὺς δὲ ἐλάλησεν [ὁ ἰησοῦς] αὐτοῖς λέγων, θαρσεῖτε, ἐγώ εἰμι· μὴ φοβεῖσθε.
Mat 14:28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. (kjv) Mat 14:28 Peter said to Him," Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." Mat 14:28 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ αὐτῶ ὁ πέτρος εἶπεν, κύριε, εἰ σὺ εἶ, κέλευσόν με ἐλθεῖν πρὸς σὲ ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα·
Mat 14:29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. (kjv) Mat 14:29 And He said," Come!" And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. Mat 14:29 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, ἐλθέ. καὶ καταβὰς ἀπὸ τοῦ πλοίου [ὁ] πέτρος περιεπάτησεν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς τὸν ἰησοῦν.
Mat 14:30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. (kjv) Mat 14:30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out," Lord, save me!" Mat 14:30 βλέπων δὲ τὸν ἄνεμον [ἰσχυρὸν] ἐφοβήθη, καὶ ἀρξάμενος καταποντίζεσθαι ἔκραξεν λέγων, κύριε, σῶσόν με.
Mat 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? (kjv) Mat 14:31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him," You of little faith, why did you doubt?" Mat 14:31 εὐθέως δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἐπελάβετο αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτῶ, ὀλιγόπιστε, εἰς τί ἐδίστασας;
Mat 14:32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. (kjv) Mat 14:32 When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. Mat 14:32 καὶ ἀναβάντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἐκόπασεν ὁ ἄνεμος.
Mat 14:33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God. (kjv) Mat 14:33 And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying," You are certainly God's Son!" Mat 14:33 οἱ δὲ ἐν τῶ πλοίῳ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῶ λέγοντες, ἀληθῶς θεοῦ υἱὸς εἶ.
Mat 14:34 And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret. (kjv) Mat 14:34 When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. Mat 14:34 καὶ διαπεράσαντες ἦλθον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν εἰς γεννησαρέτ.
Mat 14:35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; (kjv) Mat 14:35 And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent word into all that surrounding district and brought to Him all who were sick; Mat 14:35 καὶ ἐπιγνόντες αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου ἀπέστειλαν εἰς ὅλην τὴν περίχωρον ἐκείνην, καὶ προσήνεγκαν αὐτῶ πάντας τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας,
Mat 14:36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.(kjv) Mat 14:36 and they implored Him that they might just touch the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were cured. Mat 14:36 καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν ἵνα μόνον ἅψωνται τοῦ κρασπέδου τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ· καὶ ὅσοι ἥψαντο διεσώθησαν.
Mat 15:1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, (kjv) Mat 15:1 Then some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, Mat 15:1 τότε προσέρχονται τῶ ἰησοῦ ἀπὸ ἱεροσολύμων φαρισαῖοι καὶ γραμματεῖς λέγοντες,
Mat 15:2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. (kjv) Mat 15:2 "Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread." Mat 15:2 διὰ τί οἱ μαθηταί σου παραβαίνουσιν τὴν παράδοσιν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων; οὐ γὰρ νίπτονται τὰς χεῖρας [αὐτῶν] ὅταν ἄρτον ἐσθίωσιν.
Mat 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? (kjv) Mat 15:3 And He answered and said to them," Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? Mat 15:3 ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, διὰ τί καὶ ὑμεῖς παραβαίνετε τὴν ἐντολὴν τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν;
Mat 15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. (kjv) Mat 15:4 For God said, 'Honor your father and mother, 'and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother is to be put to death. ' Mat 15:4 ὁ γὰρ θεὸς εἶπεν, τίμα τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα, καί, ὁ κακολογῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα θανάτῳ τελευτάτω·
Mat 15:5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; (kjv) Mat 15:5 But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or mother," Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God," Mat 15:5 ὑμεῖς δὲ λέγετε, ὃς ἂν εἴπῃ τῶ πατρὶ ἢ τῇ μητρί, δῶρον ὃ ἐὰν ἐξ ἐμοῦ ὠφεληθῇς,
Mat 15:6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. (kjv) Mat 15:6 he is not to honor his father or his mother. 'And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition. Mat 15:6 οὐ μὴ τιμήσει τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἠκυρώσατε τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν.
Mat 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, (kjv) Mat 15:7 You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you: Mat 15:7 ὑποκριταί, καλῶς ἐπροφήτευσεν περὶ ὑμῶν ἠσαΐας λέγων,
Mat 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (kjv) Mat 15:8 'This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me. Mat 15:8 ὁ λαὸς οὖτος τοῖς χείλεσίν με τιμᾷ, ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτῶν πόρρω ἀπέχει ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ·
Mat 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (kjv) Mat 15:9 'But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.'" Mat 15:9 μάτην δὲ σέβονταί με, διδάσκοντες διδασκαλίας ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων.
Mat 15:10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: (kjv) Mat 15:10 After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them," Hear and understand. Mat 15:10 καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν ὄχλον εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ἀκούετε καὶ συνίετε·
Mat 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. (kjv) Mat 15:11 It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." Mat 15:11 οὐ τὸ εἰσερχόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον, ἀλλὰ τὸ ἐκπορευόμενον ἐκ τοῦ στόματος τοῦτο κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.
Mat 15:12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? (kjv) Mat 15:12 Then the disciples came and said to Him," Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?" Mat 15:12 τότε προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῶ, οἶδας ὅτι οἱ φαρισαῖοι ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον ἐσκανδαλίσθησαν;
Mat 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. (kjv) Mat 15:13 But He answered and said," Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted. Mat 15:13 ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, πᾶσα φυτεία ἣν οὐκ ἐφύτευσεν ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ οὐράνιος ἐκριζωθήσεται.
Mat 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. (kjv) Mat 15:14 Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit." Mat 15:14 ἄφετε αὐτούς· τυφλοί εἰσιν ὁδηγοί [τυφλῶν]· τυφλὸς δὲ τυφλὸν ἐὰν ὁδηγῇ, ἀμφότεροι εἰς βόθυνον πεσοῦνται.
Mat 15:15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. (kjv) Mat 15:15 Peter said to Him," Explain the parable to us." Mat 15:15 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῶ, φράσον ἡμῖν τὴν παραβολήν [ταύτην].
Mat 15:16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? (kjv) Mat 15:16 Jesus said," Are you still lacking in understanding also? Mat 15:16 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, ἀκμὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀσύνετοί ἐστε;
Mat 15:17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? (kjv) Mat 15:17 Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? Mat 15:17 οὐ νοεῖτε ὅτι πᾶν τὸ εἰσπορευόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα εἰς τὴν κοιλίαν χωρεῖ καὶ εἰς ἀφεδρῶνα ἐκβάλλεται;
Mat 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. (kjv) Mat 15:18 But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. Mat 15:18 τὰ δὲ ἐκπορευόμενα ἐκ τοῦ στόματος ἐκ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχεται, κἀκεῖνα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.
Mat 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: (kjv) Mat 15:19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. Mat 15:19 ἐκ γὰρ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχονται διαλογισμοὶ πονηροί, φόνοι, μοιχεῖαι, πορνεῖαι, κλοπαί, ψευδομαρτυρίαι, βλασφημίαι.
Mat 15:20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man. Mat 15:21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. (kjv) Mat 15:21 Jesus went away from there, and withdrew into the district of Tyre and Sidon. Mat 15:21 καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐκεῖθεν ὁ ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν εἰς τὰ μέρη τύρου καὶ σιδῶνος.
Mat 15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. (kjv) Mat 15:22 And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying," Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed." Mat 15:22 καὶ ἰδοὺ γυνὴ χαναναία ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων ἐκείνων ἐξελθοῦσα ἔκραζεν λέγουσα, ἐλέησόν με, κύριε, υἱὸς δαυίδ· ἡ θυγάτηρ μου κακῶς δαιμονίζεται.
Mat 15:23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. (kjv) Mat 15:23 But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying," Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us." Mat 15:23 ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῇ λόγον. καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἠρώτουν αὐτὸν λέγοντες, ἀπόλυσον αὐτήν, ὅτι κράζει ὄπισθεν ἡμῶν.
Mat 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. (kjv) Mat 15:24 But He answered and said," I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Mat 15:24 ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, οὐκ ἀπεστάλην εἰ μὴ εἰς τὰ πρόβατα τὰ ἀπολωλότα οἴκου ἰσραήλ.
Mat 15:25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. (kjv) Mat 15:25 But she came and began to bow down before Him, saying," Lord, help me!" Mat 15:25 ἡ δὲ ἐλθοῦσα προσεκύνει αὐτῶ λέγουσα, κύριε, βοήθει μοι.
Mat 15:26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. (kjv) Mat 15:26 And He answered and said," It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." Mat 15:26 ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, οὐκ ἔστιν καλὸν λαβεῖν τὸν ἄρτον τῶν τέκνων καὶ βαλεῖν τοῖς κυναρίοις.
Mat 15:27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. (kjv) Mat 15:27 But she said," Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." Mat 15:27 ἡ δὲ εἶπεν, ναί, κύριε, καὶ γὰρ τὰ κυνάρια ἐσθίει ἀπὸ τῶν ψιχίων τῶν πιπτόντων ἀπὸ τῆς τραπέζης τῶν κυρίων αὐτῶν.
Mat 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. (kjv) Mat 15:28 Then Jesus said to her," O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed at once. Mat 15:28 τότε ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῇ, ὦ γύναι, μεγάλη σου ἡ πίστις· γενηθήτω σοι ὡς θέλεις. καὶ ἰάθη ἡ θυγάτηρ αὐτῆς ἀπὸ τῆς ὥρας ἐκείνης.
Mat 15:29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. (kjv) Mat 15:29 Departing from there, Jesus went along by the Sea of Galilee, and having gone up on the mountain, He was sitting there. Mat 15:29 καὶ μεταβὰς ἐκεῖθεν ὁ ἰησοῦς ἦλθεν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν τῆς γαλιλαίας, καὶ ἀναβὰς εἰς τὸ ὄρος ἐκάθητο ἐκεῖ.
Mat 15:30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: (kjv) Mat 15:30 And large crowds came to Him, bringing with them those who were lame, crippled, blind, mute, and many others, and they laid them down at His feet; and He healed them. Mat 15:30 καὶ προσῆλθον αὐτῶ ὄχλοι πολλοὶ ἔχοντες μεθ᾽ ἑαυτῶν χωλούς, τυφλούς, κυλλούς, κωφούς, καὶ ἑτέρους πολλούς, καὶ ἔρριψαν αὐτοὺς παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτούς·
Mat 15:31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel. (kjv) Mat 15:31 So the crowd marveled as they saw the mute speaking, the crippled restored, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel. Mat 15:31 ὥστε τὸν ὄχλον θαυμάσαι βλέποντας κωφοὺς λαλοῦντας, κυλλοὺς ὑγιεῖς, καὶ χωλοὺς περιπατοῦντας καὶ τυφλοὺς βλέποντας· καὶ ἐδόξασαν τὸν θεὸν ἰσραήλ.
Mat 15:32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. (kjv) Mat 15:32 And Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said," I feel compassion for the people, because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way." Mat 15:32 ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν, σπλαγχνίζομαι ἐπὶ τὸν ὄχλον, ὅτι ἤδη ἡμέραι τρεῖς προσμένουσίν μοι καὶ οὐκ ἔχουσιν τί φάγωσιν· καὶ ἀπολῦσαι αὐτοὺς νήστεις οὐ θέλω, μήποτε ἐκλυθῶσιν ἐν τῇ ὁδῶ.
Mat 15:33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? (kjv) Mat 15:33 The disciples said to Him," Where would we get so many loaves in this desolate place to satisfy such a large crowd?" Mat 15:33 καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῶ οἱ μαθηταί, πόθεν ἡμῖν ἐν ἐρημίᾳ ἄρτοι τοσοῦτοι ὥστε χορτάσαι ὄχλον τοσοῦτον;
Mat 15:34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. (kjv) Mat 15:34 And Jesus said to them," How many loaves do you have?" And they said," Seven, and a few small fish." Mat 15:34 καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς, πόσους ἄρτους ἔχετε; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν, ἑπτά, καὶ ὀλίγα ἰχθύδια.
Mat 15:35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. (kjv) Mat 15:35 And He directed the people to sit down on the ground; Mat 15:35 καὶ παραγγείλας τῶ ὄχλῳ ἀναπεσεῖν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν
Mat 15:36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. (kjv) Mat 15:36 and He took the seven loaves and the fish; and giving thanks, He broke them and started giving them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. Mat 15:36 ἔλαβεν τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς ἰχθύας καὶ εὐχαριστήσας ἔκλασεν καὶ ἐδίδου τοῖς μαθηταῖς, οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις.
Mat 15:37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full. (kjv) Mat 15:37 And they all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, seven large baskets full. Mat 15:37 καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων ἦραν, ἑπτὰ σπυρίδας πλήρεις.

Mat 15:39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.(kjv) Mat 15:39 And sending away the crowds, Jesus got into the boat and came to the region of Magadan. Mat 15:39 καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἐνέβη εἰς τὸ πλοῖον, καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς τὰ ὅρια μαγαδάν.
Mat 16:1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. (kjv) Mat 16:1 The Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Jesus, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. Mat 16:1 καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ φαρισαῖοι καὶ σαδδουκαῖοι πειράζοντες ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν σημεῖον ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐπιδεῖξαι αὐτοῖς.
Mat 16:2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. (kjv) Mat 16:2 But He replied to them," When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red. ' Mat 16:2 ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, [ὀψίας γενομένης λέγετε, εὐδία, πυρράζει γὰρ ὁ οὐρανός·
Mat 16:3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? (kjv) Mat 16:3 And in the morning, 'There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening. 'Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times? Mat 16:3 καὶ πρωΐ, σήμερον χειμών, πυρράζει γὰρ στυγνάζων ὁ οὐρανός. τὸ μὲν πρόσωπον τοῦ οὐρανοῦ γινώσκετε διακρίνειν, τὰ δὲ σημεῖα τῶν καιρῶν οὐ δύνασθε.]
Mat 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. (kjv) Mat 16:4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah." And He left them and went away. Mat 16:4 γενεὰ πονηρὰ καὶ μοιχαλὶς σημεῖον ἐπιζητεῖ, καὶ σημεῖον οὐ δοθήσεται αὐτῇ εἰ μὴ τὸ σημεῖον ἰωνᾶ. καὶ καταλιπὼν αὐτοὺς ἀπῆλθεν.
Mat 16:5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. (kjv) Mat 16:5 And the disciples came to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread. Mat 16:5 καὶ ἐλθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ εἰς τὸ πέραν ἐπελάθοντο ἄρτους λαβεῖν.
Mat 16:6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. (kjv) Mat 16:6 And Jesus said to them," Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Mat 16:6 ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ὁρᾶτε καὶ προσέχετε ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης τῶν φαρισαίων καὶ σαδδουκαίων.
Mat 16:7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. (kjv) Mat 16:7 They began to discuss this among themselves, saying," He said that because we did not bring any bread." Mat 16:7 οἱ δὲ διελογίζοντο ἐν ἑαυτοῖς λέγοντες ὅτι ἄρτους οὐκ ἐλάβομεν.
Mat 16:8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? (kjv) Mat 16:8 But Jesus, aware of this, said," You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread? Mat 16:8 γνοὺς δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, τί διαλογίζεσθε ἐν ἑαυτοῖς, ὀλιγόπιστοι, ὅτι ἄρτους οὐκ ἔχετε;
Mat 16:9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? (kjv) Mat 16:9 Do you not yet understand or remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets full you picked up? Mat 16:9 οὔπω νοεῖτε, οὐδὲ μνημονεύετε τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους τῶν πεντακισχιλίων καὶ πόσους κοφίνους ἐλάβετε;
Mat 16:10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? (kjv) Mat 16:10 Or the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets full you picked up? Mat 16:10 οὐδὲ τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἄρτους τῶν τετρακισχιλίων καὶ πόσας σπυρίδας ἐλάβετε;
Mat 16:11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? (kjv) Mat 16:11 How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Mat 16:11 πῶς οὐ νοεῖτε ὅτι οὐ περὶ ἄρτων εἶπον ὑμῖν; προσέχετε δὲ ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης τῶν φαρισαίων καὶ σαδδουκαίων.
Mat 16:12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. (kjv) Mat 16:12 Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Mat 16:12 τότε συνῆκαν ὅτι οὐκ εἶπεν προσέχειν ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης τῶν ἄρτων ἀλλὰ ἀπὸ τῆς διδαχῆς τῶν φαρισαίων καὶ σαδδουκαίων.
Mat 16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? (kjv) Mat 16:13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples," Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" Mat 16:13 ἐλθὼν δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἰς τὰ μέρη καισαρείας τῆς φιλίππου ἠρώτα τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ λέγων, τίνα λέγουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι εἶναι τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου;
Mat 16:14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. (kjv) Mat 16:14 And they said," Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." Mat 16:14 οἱ δὲ εἶπαν, οἱ μὲν ἰωάννην τὸν βαπτιστήν, ἄλλοι δὲ ἠλίαν, ἕτεροι δὲ ἰερεμίαν ἢ ἕνα τῶν προφητῶν.
Mat 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? (kjv) Mat 16:15 He said to them," But who do you say that I am?" Mat 16:15 λέγει αὐτοῖς, ὑμεῖς δὲ τίνα με λέγετε εἶναι;
Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. (kjv) Mat 16:16 Simon Peter answered," You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Mat 16:16 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ σίμων πέτρος εἶπεν, σὺ εἶ ὁ χριστὸς ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ζῶντος.
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (kjv) Mat 16:17 And Jesus said to him," Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. Mat 16:17 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῶ, μακάριος εἶ, σίμων βαριωνᾶ, ὅτι σὰρξ καὶ αἷμα οὐκ ἀπεκάλυψέν σοι ἀλλ᾽ ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (kjv) Mat 16:18 I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. Mat 16:18 κἀγὼ δέ σοι λέγω ὅτι σὺ εἶ πέτρος, καὶ ἐπὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ οἰκοδομήσω μου τὴν ἐκκλησίαν, καὶ πύλαι ᾅδου οὐ κατισχύσουσιν αὐτῆς.
Mat 16 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (kjv) Mat 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." Mat 16:19 δώσω σοι τὰς κλεῖδας τῆς βασιλείας τῶν οὐρανῶν, καὶ ὃ ἐὰν δήσῃς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται δεδεμένον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς, καὶ ὃ ἐὰν λύσῃς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται λελυμένον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.
Mat 16:20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ. (kjv) Mat 16:20 Then He warned the disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Christ. Mat 16:20 τότε διεστείλατο τοῖς μαθηταῖς ἵνα μηδενὶ εἴπωσιν ὅτι αὐτός ἐστιν ὁ χριστός.
Mat 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Mat 16:21 ἀπὸ τότε ἤρξατο ὁ ἰησοῦς δεικνύειν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ὅτι δεῖ αὐτὸν εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα ἀπελθεῖν καὶ πολλὰ παθεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων καὶ ἀρχιερέων καὶ γραμματέων καὶ ἀποκτανθῆναι καὶ τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ἐγερθῆναι.
Mat 16:22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. (kjv) Mat 16:22 Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying," God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You." Mat 16:22 καὶ προσλαβόμενος αὐτὸν ὁ πέτρος ἤρξατο ἐπιτιμᾶν αὐτῶ λέγων, ἵλεώς σοι, κύριε· οὐ μὴ ἔσται σοι τοῦτο.
Mat 16 23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. (kjv) Mat 16:23 But He turned and said to Peter," Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God's interests, but man's." Mat 16:23 ὁ δὲ στραφεὶς εἶπεν τῶ πέτρῳ, ὕπαγε ὀπίσω μου, σατανᾶ· σκάνδαλον εἶ ἐμοῦ, ὅτι οὐ φρονεῖς τὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἀλλὰ τὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων.
Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (kjv) Mat 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples," If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. Mat 16:24 τότε ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ, εἴ τις θέλει ὀπίσω μου ἐλθεῖν, ἀπαρνησάσθω ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἀράτω τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀκολουθείτω μοι.
Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. (kjv) Mat 16:25 For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. Mat 16:25 ὃς γὰρ ἐὰν θέλῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ σῶσαι ἀπολέσει αὐτήν· ὃς δ᾽ ἂν ἀπολέσῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ εὑρήσει αὐτήν.
Mat 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (kjv) Mat 16:26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Mat 16:26 τί γὰρ ὠφεληθήσεται ἄνθρωπος ἐὰν τὸν κόσμον ὅλον κερδήσῃ τὴν δὲ ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ζημιωθῇ; ἢ τί δώσει ἄνθρωπος ἀντάλλαγμα τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτοῦ;

Mat 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.(kjv) Mat 16:28 "Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." Mat 16:28 ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι εἰσίν τινες τῶν ὧδε ἑστώτων οἵτινες οὐ μὴ γεύσωνται θανάτου ἕως ἂν ἴδωσιν τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐρχόμενον ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ.
Mat 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, (kjv) Mat 17:1 Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. Mat 17:1 καὶ μεθ᾽ ἡμέρας ἓξ παραλαμβάνει ὁ ἰησοῦς τὸν πέτρον καὶ ἰάκωβον καὶ ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀναφέρει αὐτοὺς εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν κατ᾽ ἰδίαν.
Mat 17:2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. (kjv) Mat 17:2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. Mat 17:2 καὶ μετεμορφώθη ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔλαμψεν τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ὡς ὁ ἥλιος, τὰ δὲ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο λευκὰ ὡς τὸ φῶς.
Mat 17:3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. (kjv) Mat 17:3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Mat 17:3 καὶ ἰδοὺ ὤφθη αὐτοῖς μωϊσῆς καὶ ἠλίας συλλαλοῦντες μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ.
Mat 17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. (kjv) Mat 17:4 Peter said to Jesus," Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah." Mat 17:4 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ πέτρος εἶπεν τῶ ἰησοῦ, κύριε, καλόν ἐστιν ἡμᾶς ὧδε εἶναι· εἰ θέλεις, ποιήσω ὧδε τρεῖς σκηνάς, σοὶ μίαν καὶ μωϊσεῖ μίαν καὶ ἠλίᾳ μίαν.
Mat 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. (kjv) Mat 17:5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said," This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!" Mat 17:5 ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἰδοὺ νεφέλη φωτεινὴ ἐπεσκίασεν αὐτούς, καὶ ἰδοὺ φωνὴ ἐκ τῆς νεφέλης λέγουσα, οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ἀγαπητός, ἐν ᾧ εὐδόκησα· ἀκούετε αὐτοῦ.
Mat 17:6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. (kjv) Mat 17:6 When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified. Mat 17:6 καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ μαθηταὶ ἔπεσαν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτῶν καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν σφόδρα.
Mat 17:7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. (kjv) Mat 17:7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said," Get up, and do not be afraid." Mat 17:7 καὶ προσῆλθεν ὁ ἰησοῦς καὶ ἁψάμενος αὐτῶν εἶπεν, ἐγέρθητε καὶ μὴ φοβεῖσθε.
Mat 17:8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. (kjv) Mat 17:8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone. Mat 17:8 ἐπάραντες δὲ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν οὐδένα εἶδον εἰ μὴ αὐτὸν ἰησοῦν μόνον.
Mat 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. (kjv) Mat 17:9 As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying," Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man has risen from the dead." Mat 17:9 καὶ καταβαινόντων αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς λέγων, μηδενὶ εἴπητε τὸ ὅραμα ἕως οὖ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκ νεκρῶν ἐγερθῇ.
Mat 17:10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? (kjv) Mat 17:10 And His disciples asked Him," Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?" Mat 17:10 καὶ ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγοντες, τί οὗν οἱ γραμματεῖς λέγουσιν ὅτι ἠλίαν δεῖ ἐλθεῖν πρῶτον;
Mat 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. (kjv) Mat 17:11 And He answered and said," Elijah is coming and will restore all things; Mat 17:11 ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, ἠλίας μὲν ἔρχεται καὶ ἀποκαταστήσει πάντα·
Mat 17:12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. (kjv) Mat 17:12 but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wished. So also the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands." Mat 17:12 λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι ἠλίας ἤδη ἦλθεν, καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν αὐτὸν ἀλλὰ ἐποίησαν ἐν αὐτῶ ὅσα ἠθέλησαν· οὕτως καὶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου μέλλει πάσχειν ὑπ᾽ αὐτῶν.
Mat 17:13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist. (kjv) Mat 17:13 Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist. Mat 17:13 τότε συνῆκαν οἱ μαθηταὶ ὅτι περὶ ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς.
Mat 17:14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, (kjv) Mat 17:14 When they came to the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, falling on his knees before Him and saying, Mat 17:14 καὶ ἐλθόντων πρὸς τὸν ὄχλον προσῆλθεν αὐτῶ ἄνθρωπος γονυπετῶν αὐτὸν
Mat 17 15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. (kjv) Mat 17:15 "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic and is very ill; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. Mat 17:15 καὶ λέγων, κύριε, ἐλέησόν μου τὸν υἱόν, ὅτι σεληνιάζεται καὶ κακῶς πάσχει· πολλάκις γὰρ πίπτει εἰς τὸ πῦρ καὶ πολλάκις εἰς τὸ ὕδωρ.
Mat 17:16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. (kjv) Mat 17:16 I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him." Mat 17:16 καὶ προσήνεγκα αὐτὸν τοῖς μαθηταῖς σου, καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνήθησαν αὐτὸν θεραπεῦσαι.
Mat 17:17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. (kjv) Mat 17:17 And Jesus answered and said," You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me." Mat 17:17 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, ὦ γενεὰ ἄπιστος καὶ διεστραμμένη, ἕως πότε μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν ἔσομαι; ἕως πότε ἀνέξομαι ὑμῶν; φέρετέ μοι αὐτὸν ὧδε.
Mat 17:18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. (kjv) Mat 17:18 And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured at once. Mat 17:18 καὶ ἐπετίμησεν αὐτῶ ὁ ἰησοῦς, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ τὸ δαιμόνιον· καὶ ἐθεραπεύθη ὁ παῖς ἀπὸ τῆς ὥρας ἐκείνης.
Mat 17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? (kjv) Mat 17:19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said," Why could we not drive it out?" Mat 17:19 τότε προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ τῶ ἰησοῦ κατ᾽ ἰδίαν εἶπον, διὰ τί ἡμεῖς οὐκ ἠδυνήθημεν ἐκβαλεῖν αὐτό;
Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. (kjv) Mat 17:20 And He said to them," Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there, 'and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. Mat 17:20 ὁ δὲ λέγει αὐτοῖς, διὰ τὴν ὀλιγοπιστίαν ὑμῶν· ἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν, ἐὰν ἔχητε πίστιν ὡς κόκκον σινάπεως, ἐρεῖτε τῶ ὄρει τούτῳ, μετάβα ἔνθεν ἐκεῖ, καὶ μεταβήσεται· καὶ οὐδὲν ἀδυνατήσει ὑμῖν.
Mat 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. (kjv) Mat 17:21 [ But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."] Mat 17:21
Mat 17:22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: (kjv) Mat 17:22 And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them," The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men; Mat 17:22 συστρεφομένων δὲ αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ γαλιλαίᾳ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς, μέλλει ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδοσθαι εἰς χεῖρας ἀνθρώπων,
Mat 17:23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry. (kjv) Mat 17:23 and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day." And they were deeply grieved. Mat 17:23 καὶ ἀποκτενοῦσιν αὐτόν, καὶ τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ἐγερθήσεται. καὶ ἐλυπήθησαν σφόδρα.
Mat 17:24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? (kjv) Mat 17:24 When they came to Capernaum, those who collected the two-drachma tax came to Peter and said," Does your teacher not pay the two-drachma tax?" Mat 17:24 ἐλθόντων δὲ αὐτῶν εἰς καφαρναοὺμ προσῆλθον οἱ τὰ δίδραχμα λαμβάνοντες τῶ πέτρῳ καὶ εἶπαν, ὁ διδάσκαλος ὑμῶν οὐ τελεῖ [τὰ] δίδραχμα;
Mat 17:25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? (kjv) Mat 17:25 He said," Yes." And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying," What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs or poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?" Mat 17:25 λέγει, ναί. καὶ ἐλθόντα εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν προέφθασεν αὐτὸν ὁ ἰησοῦς λέγων, τί σοι δοκεῖ, σίμων; οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς ἀπὸ τίνων λαμβάνουσιν τέλη ἢ κῆνσον; ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτῶν ἢ ἀπὸ τῶν ἀλλοτρίων;
Mat 17:26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. (kjv) Mat 17:26 When Peter said," From strangers," Jesus said to him," Then the sons are exempt. Mat 17:26 εἰπόντος δέ, ἀπὸ τῶν ἀλλοτρίων, ἔφη αὐτῶ ὁ ἰησοῦς, ἄρα γε ἐλεύθεροί εἰσιν οἱ υἱοί.
Mat 17:27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.(kjv) Mat 17:27 However, so that we do not offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for you and Me." Mat 17:27 ἵνα δὲ μὴ σκανδαλίσωμεν αὐτούς, πορευθεὶς εἰς θάλασσαν βάλε ἄγκιστρον καὶ τὸν ἀναβάντα πρῶτον ἰχθὺν ἆρον, καὶ ἀνοίξας τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ εὑρήσεις στατῆρα· ἐκεῖνον λαβὼν δὸς αὐτοῖς ἀντὶ ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ.
