Day - 293 - Mark 15-16
Mar 15:1 And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate. (kjv) Mar 15:1 Early in the morning the chief priests with the elders and scribes and the whole Council, immediately held a consultation; and binding Jesus, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pilate. Mar 15:1 καὶ εὐθὺς πρωῒ συμβούλιον ποιήσαντες οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς μετὰ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων καὶ γραμματέων καὶ ὅλον τὸ συνέδριον δήσαντες τὸν ἰησοῦν ἀπήνεγκαν καὶ παρέδωκαν πιλάτῳ.
Mar 15:2 And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto them, Thou sayest it. (kjv) Mar 15:2 Pilate questioned Him," Are You the King of the Jews?" And He answered him," It is as you say." Mar 15:2 καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτὸν ὁ πιλᾶτος, σὺ εἶ ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν ἰουδαίων; ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς αὐτῶ λέγει, σὺ λέγεις.
Mar 15:3 And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing. (kjv) Mar 15:3 The chief priests began to accuse Him harshly. Mar 15:3 καὶ κατηγόρουν αὐτοῦ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς πολλά.
Mar 15:4 And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee. (kjv) Mar 15:4 Then Pilate questioned Him again, saying," Do You not answer? See how many charges they bring against You!" Mar 15:4 ὁ δὲ πιλᾶτος πάλιν ἐπηρώτα αὐτὸν λέγων, οὐκ ἀποκρίνῃ οὐδέν; ἴδε πόσα σου κατηγοροῦσιν.
Mar 15:5 But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled. (kjv) Mar 15:5 But Jesus made no further answer; so Pilate was amazed. Mar 15:5 ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς οὐκέτι οὐδὲν ἀπεκρίθη, ὥστε θαυμάζειν τὸν πιλᾶτον.
Mar 15:6 Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired. (kjv) Mar 15:6 Now at the feast he used to release for them any one prisoner whom they requested. Mar 15:6 κατὰ δὲ ἑορτὴν ἀπέλυεν αὐτοῖς ἕνα δέσμιον ὃν παρῃτοῦντο.
Mar 15:7 And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection. (kjv) Mar 15:7 The man named Barabbas had been imprisoned with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the insurrection. Mar 15:7 ἦν δὲ ὁ λεγόμενος βαραββᾶς μετὰ τῶν στασιαστῶν δεδεμένος οἵτινες ἐν τῇ στάσει φόνον πεποιήκεισαν.
Mar 15:8 And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them. (kjv) Mar 15:8 The crowd went up and began asking him to do as he had been accustomed to do for them. Mar 15:8 καὶ ἀναβὰς ὁ ὄχλος ἤρξατο αἰτεῖσθαι καθὼς ἐποίει αὐτοῖς.
Mar 15:9 But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? (kjv) Mar 15:9 Pilate answered them, saying," Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?" Mar 15:9 ὁ δὲ πιλᾶτος ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς λέγων, θέλετε ἀπολύσω ὑμῖν τὸν βασιλέα τῶν ἰουδαίων;
Mar 15:10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy. (kjv) Mar 15:10 For he was aware that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy. Mar 15:10 ἐγίνωσκεν γὰρ ὅτι διὰ φθόνον παραδεδώκεισαν αὐτὸν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς.
Mar 15:11 But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them. (kjv) Mar 15:11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to ask him to release Barabbas for them instead. Mar 15:11 οἱ δὲ ἀρχιερεῖς ἀνέσεισαν τὸν ὄχλον ἵνα μᾶλλον τὸν βαραββᾶν ἀπολύσῃ αὐτοῖς.
Mar 15:12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews? (kjv) Mar 15:12 Answering again, Pilate said to them," Then what shall I do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?" Mar 15:12 ὁ δὲ πιλᾶτος πάλιν ἀποκριθεὶς ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς, τί οὗν [θέλετε] ποιήσω [ὃν λέγετε] τὸν βασιλέα τῶν ἰουδαίων;
Mar 15:13 And they cried out again, Crucify him. (kjv) Mar 15:13 They shouted back," Crucify Him!" Mar 15:13 οἱ δὲ πάλιν ἔκραξαν, σταύρωσον αὐτόν.
Mar 15:14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him. (kjv) Mar 15:14 But Pilate said to them," Why, what evil has He done?" But they shouted all the more," Crucify Him!" Mar 15:14 ὁ δὲ πιλᾶτος ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς, τί γὰρ ἐποίησεν κακόν; οἱ δὲ περισσῶς ἔκραξαν, σταύρωσον αὐτόν.
Mar 15:15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified. (kjv) Mar 15:15 Wishing to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified. Mar 15:15 ὁ δὲ πιλᾶτος βουλόμενος τῶ ὄχλῳ τὸ ἱκανὸν ποιῆσαι ἀπέλυσεν αὐτοῖς τὸν βαραββᾶν, καὶ παρέδωκεν τὸν ἰησοῦν φραγελλώσας ἵνα σταυρωθῇ.
Mar 15:16 And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band. (kjv) Mar 15:16 The soldiers took Him away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium), and they called together the whole Roman cohort. Mar 15:16 οἱ δὲ στρατιῶται ἀπήγαγον αὐτὸν ἔσω τῆς αὐλῆς, ὅ ἐστιν πραιτώριον, καὶ συγκαλοῦσιν ὅλην τὴν σπεῖραν.
Mar 15:17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, (kjv) Mar 15:17 They dressed Him up in purple, and after twisting a crown of thorns, they put it on Him; Mar 15:17 καὶ ἐνδιδύσκουσιν αὐτὸν πορφύραν καὶ περιτιθέασιν αὐτῶ πλέξαντες ἀκάνθινον στέφανον·
Mar 15:18 And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! (kjv) Mar 15:18 and they began to acclaim Him," Hail, King of the Jews!" Mar 15:18 καὶ ἤρξαντο ἀσπάζεσθαι αὐτόν, χαῖρε, βασιλεῦ τῶν ἰουδαίων·
Mar 15:19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him. (kjv) Mar 15:19 They kept beating His head with a reed, and spitting on Him, and kneeling and bowing before Him. Mar 15:19 καὶ ἔτυπτον αὐτοῦ τὴν κεφαλὴν καλάμῳ καὶ ἐνέπτυον αὐτῶ, καὶ τιθέντες τὰ γόνατα προσεκύνουν αὐτῶ.
Mar 15:20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him. (kjv) Mar 15:20 After they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off Him and put His own garments on Him. And they led Him out to crucify Him. Mar 15:20 καὶ ὅτε ἐνέπαιξαν αὐτῶ, ἐξέδυσαν αὐτὸν τὴν πορφύραν καὶ ἐνέδυσαν αὐτὸν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἐξάγουσιν αὐτὸν ἵνα σταυρώσωσιν αὐτόν.
Mar 15:21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross. (kjv) Mar 15:21 They pressed into service a passer-by coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene (the father of Alexander and Rufus), to bear His cross. Mar 15:21 καὶ ἀγγαρεύουσιν παράγοντά τινα σίμωνα κυρηναῖον ἐρχόμενον ἀπ᾽ ἀγροῦ, τὸν πατέρα ἀλεξάνδρου καὶ ῥούφου, ἵνα ἄρῃ τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ.
Mar 15:22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull. (kjv) Mar 15:22 Then they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull. Mar 15:22 καὶ φέρουσιν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸν γολγοθᾶν τόπον, ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον κρανίου τόπος.
Mar 15:23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not. (kjv) Mar 15:23 They tried to give Him wine mixed with myrrh; but He did not take it. Mar 15:23 καὶ ἐδίδουν αὐτῶ ἐσμυρνισμένον οἶνον, ὃς δὲ οὐκ ἔλαβεν.
Mar 15:24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. (kjv) Mar 15:24 And they crucified Him, and divided up His garments among themselves, casting lots for them to decide what each man should take. Mar 15:24 καὶ σταυροῦσιν αὐτὸν καὶ διαμερίζονται τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ, βάλλοντες κλῆρον ἐπ᾽ αὐτὰ τίς τί ἄρῃ.
Mar 15:25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. (kjv) Mar 15:25 It was the third hour when they crucified Him. Mar 15:25 ἦν δὲ ὥρα τρίτη καὶ ἐσταύρωσαν αὐτόν.
Mar 15:26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS. (kjv) Mar 15:26 The inscription of the charge against Him read," THE KING OF THE JEWS." Mar 15:26 καὶ ἦν ἡ ἐπιγραφὴ τῆς αἰτίας αὐτοῦ ἐπιγεγραμμένη, ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν ἰουδαίων.
Mar 15:27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. (kjv) Mar 15:27 They crucified two robbers with Him, one on His right and one on His left. Mar 15:27 καὶ σὺν αὐτῶ σταυροῦσιν δύο λῃστάς, ἕνα ἐκ δεξιῶν καὶ ἕνα ἐξ εὐωνύμων αὐτοῦ.
Mar 15:28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. (kjv) Mar 15:28 [ And the Scripture was fulfilled which says," And He was numbered with transgressors."] Mar:15:28: NO VS 28 - this found at the end of the chapter: Mar 16:9 [[πάντα δὲ τὰ παρηγγελμένα τοῖς περὶ τὸν πέτρον συντόμως ἐξήγγειλαν. μετὰ δὲ ταῦτα καὶ αὐτὸς ὁ ἰησοῦς ἀπὸ ἀνατολῆς καὶ ἄχρι δύσεως ἐξαπέστειλεν δι᾽ αὐτῶν τὸ ἱερὸν καὶ ἄφθαρτον κήρυγμα τῆς αἰωνίου σωτηρίας. ἀμήν.]]
Mar 15:29 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, (kjv) Mar 15:29 Those passing by were hurling abuse at Him, wagging their heads, and saying," Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, Mar 15:29 καὶ οἱ παραπορευόμενοι ἐβλασφήμουν αὐτὸν κινοῦντες τὰς κεφαλὰς αὐτῶν καὶ λέγοντες, οὐὰ ὁ καταλύων τὸν ναὸν καὶ οἰκοδομῶν ἐν τρισὶν ἡμέραις,
Mar 15:30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross. (kjv) Mar 15:30 save Yourself, and come down from the cross!" Mar 15:30 σῶσον σεαυτὸν καταβὰς ἀπὸ τοῦ σταυροῦ.
Mar 15:31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. (kjv) Mar 15:31 In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying," He saved others; He cannot save Himself. Mar 15:31 ὁμοίως καὶ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς ἐμπαίζοντες πρὸς ἀλλήλους μετὰ τῶν γραμματέων ἔλεγον, ἄλλους ἔσωσεν, ἑαυτὸν οὐ δύναται σῶσαι·
Mar 15:32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him. (kjv) Mar 15:32 Let this Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, so that we may see and believe!" Those who were crucified with Him were also insulting Him. Mar 15:32 ὁ χριστὸς ὁ βασιλεὺς ἰσραὴλ καταβάτω νῦν ἀπὸ τοῦ σταυροῦ, ἵνα ἴδωμεν καὶ πιστεύσωμεν. καὶ οἱ συνεσταυρωμένοι σὺν αὐτῶ ὠνείδιζον αὐτόν.
Mar 15:33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. (kjv) Mar 15:33 When the sixth hour came, darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour. Mar 15:33 καὶ γενομένης ὥρας ἕκτης σκότος ἐγένετο ἐφ᾽ ὅλην τὴν γῆν ἕως ὥρας ἐνάτης.
Mar 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (kjv) Mar 15:34 At the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice," Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which is translated," My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" Mar 15:34 καὶ τῇ ἐνάτῃ ὥρᾳ ἐβόησεν ὁ ἰησοῦς φωνῇ μεγάλῃ, ελωι ελωι λεμα σαβαχθανι; ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον ὁ θεός μου ὁ θεός μου, εἰς τί ἐγκατέλιπές με;
Mar 15:35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias. (kjv) Mar 15:35 When some of the bystanders heard it, they began saying," Behold, He is calling for Elijah." Mar 15:35 καί τινες τῶν παρεστηκότων ἀκούσαντες ἔλεγον, ἴδε ἠλίαν φωνεῖ.
Mar 15:36 And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down. (kjv) Mar 15:36 Someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink, saying," Let us see whether Elijah will come to take Him down." Mar 15:36 δραμὼν δέ τις [καὶ] γεμίσας σπόγγον ὄξους περιθεὶς καλάμῳ ἐπότιζεν αὐτόν, λέγων, ἄφετε ἴδωμεν εἰ ἔρχεται ἠλίας καθελεῖν αὐτόν.
Mar 15:37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. (kjv) Mar 15:37 And Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed His last. Mar 15:37 ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς ἀφεὶς φωνὴν μεγάλην ἐξέπνευσεν.
Mar 15:38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. (kjv) Mar 15:38 And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Mar 15:38 καὶ τὸ καταπέτασμα τοῦ ναοῦ ἐσχίσθη εἰς δύο ἀπ᾽ ἄνωθεν ἕως κάτω.
Mar 15:39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God. (kjv) Mar 15:39 When the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said," Truly this man was the Son of God!" Mar 15:39 ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ κεντυρίων ὁ παρεστηκὼς ἐξ ἐναντίας αὐτοῦ ὅτι οὕτως ἐξέπνευσεν εἶπεν, ἀληθῶς οὖτος ὁ ἄνθρωπος υἱὸς θεοῦ ἦν.
Mar 15:40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome; (kjv) Mar 15:40 There were also some women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the Less and Joses, and Salome. Mar 15:40 ἦσαν δὲ καὶ γυναῖκες ἀπὸ μακρόθεν θεωροῦσαι, ἐν αἷς καὶ μαρία ἡ μαγδαληνὴ καὶ μαρία ἡ ἰακώβου τοῦ μικροῦ καὶ ἰωσῆτος μήτηρ καὶ σαλώμη,
Mar 15:41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem. (kjv) Mar 15:41 When He was in Galilee, they used to follow Him and minister to Him; and there were many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem. Mar 15:41 αἳ ὅτε ἦν ἐν τῇ γαλιλαίᾳ ἠκολούθουν αὐτῶ καὶ διηκόνουν αὐτῶ, καὶ ἄλλαι πολλαὶ αἱ συναναβᾶσαι αὐτῶ εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα.
Mar 15:42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, (kjv) Mar 15:42 When evening had already come, because it was the preparation day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, Mar 15:42 καὶ ἤδη ὀψίας γενομένης, ἐπεὶ ἦν παρασκευή, ὅ ἐστιν προσάββατον,
Mar 15:43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. (kjv) Mar 15:43 Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the Council, who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God; and he gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. Mar 15:43 ἐλθὼν ἰωσὴφ [ὁ] ἀπὸ ἁριμαθαίας εὐσχήμων βουλευτής, ὃς καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν προσδεχόμενος τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ, τολμήσας εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς τὸν πιλᾶτον καὶ ᾐτήσατο τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἰησοῦ.
Mar 15:44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead. (kjv) Mar 15:44 Pilate wondered if He was dead by this time, and summoning the centurion, he questioned him as to whether He was already dead. Mar 15:44 ὁ δὲ πιλᾶτος ἐθαύμασεν εἰ ἤδη τέθνηκεν, καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν κεντυρίωνα ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτὸν εἰ πάλαι ἀπέθανεν·
Mar 15:45 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. (kjv) Mar 15:45 And ascertaining this from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. Mar 15:45 καὶ γνοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ κεντυρίωνος ἐδωρήσατο τὸ πτῶμα τῶ ἰωσήφ.
Mar 15:46 And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre. (kjv) Mar 15:46 Joseph bought a linen cloth, took Him down, wrapped Him in the linen cloth and laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out in the rock; and he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. Mar 15:46 καὶ ἀγοράσας σινδόνα καθελὼν αὐτὸν ἐνείλησεν τῇ σινδόνι καὶ ἔθηκεν αὐτὸν ἐν μνημείῳ ὃ ἦν λελατομημένον ἐκ πέτρας, καὶ προσεκύλισεν λίθον ἐπὶ τὴν θύραν τοῦ μνημείου.
Mar 15:47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.(kjv) Mar 15:47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses were looking on to see where He was laid. Mar 15:47 ἡ δὲ μαρία ἡ μαγδαληνὴ καὶ μαρία ἡ ἰωσῆτος ἐθεώρουν ποῦ τέθειται.
Mar 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. (kjv) Mar 16:1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, so that they might come and anoint Him. Mar 16:1 καὶ διαγενομένου τοῦ σαββάτου μαρία ἡ μαγδαληνὴ καὶ μαρία ἡ [τοῦ] ἰακώβου καὶ σαλώμη ἠγόρασαν ἀρώματα ἵνα ἐλθοῦσαι ἀλείψωσιν αὐτόν.
Mar 16:2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. (kjv) Mar 16:2 Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. Mar 16:2 καὶ λίαν πρωῒ τῇ μιᾷ τῶν σαββάτων ἔρχονται ἐπὶ τὸ μνημεῖον ἀνατείλαντος τοῦ ἡλίου.
Mar 16:3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? (kjv) Mar 16:3 They were saying to one another," Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?" Mar 16:3 καὶ ἔλεγον πρὸς ἑαυτάς, τίς ἀποκυλίσει ἡμῖν τὸν λίθον ἐκ τῆς θύρας τοῦ μνημείου;
Mar 16:4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. (kjv) Mar 16:4 Looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, although it was extremely large. Mar 16:4 καὶ ἀναβλέψασαι θεωροῦσιν ὅτι ἀποκεκύλισται ὁ λίθος, ἦν γὰρ μέγας σφόδρα.
Mar 16:5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. (kjv) Mar 16:5 Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe; and they were amazed. Mar 16:5 καὶ εἰσελθοῦσαι εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον εἶδον νεανίσκον καθήμενον ἐν τοῖς δεξιοῖς περιβεβλημένον στολὴν λευκήν, καὶ ἐξεθαμβήθησαν.
Mar 16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here behold the place where they laid him. Mar 16:7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. (kjv) Mar 16:7 But go, tell His disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you. Mar 16:8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid. (kjv) Mar 16:8 They went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had gripped them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. Mar 16:8 καὶ ἐξελθοῦσαι ἔφυγον ἀπὸ τοῦ μνημείου, εἶχεν γὰρ αὐτὰς τρόμος καὶ ἔκστασις· καὶ οὐδενὶ οὐδὲν εἶπαν, ἐφοβοῦντο γάρ.
Mar 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. (kjv) Mar 16:9 [ Now after He had risen early on the first day of the week, He first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons. Mar 16:9 [[ἀναστὰς δὲ πρωῒ πρώτῃ σαββάτου ἐφάνη πρῶτον μαρίᾳ τῇ μαγδαληνῇ, παρ᾽ ἧς ἐκβεβλήκει ἑπτὰ δαιμόνια.
Mar 16:10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept. (kjv) Mar 16:10 She went and reported to those who had been with Him, while they were mourning and weeping. Mar 16:10 ἐκείνη πορευθεῖσα ἀπήγγειλεν τοῖς μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ γενομένοις πενθοῦσι καὶ κλαίουσιν·
Mar 16:11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not. (kjv) Mar 16:11 When they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they refused to believe it. Mar 16:11 κἀκεῖνοι ἀκούσαντες ὅτι ζῇ καὶ ἐθεάθη ὑπ᾽ αὐτῆς ἠπίστησαν.
Mar 16:12 After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country. (kjv) Mar 16:12 After that, He appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking along on their way to the country. Mar 16:12 μετὰ δὲ ταῦτα δυσὶν ἐξ αὐτῶν περιπατοῦσιν ἐφανερώθη ἐν ἑτέρᾳ μορφῇ πορευομένοις εἰς ἀγρόν·
Mar 16:13 And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them. (kjv) Mar 16:13 They went away and reported it to the others, but they did not believe them either. Mar 16:13 κἀκεῖνοι ἀπελθόντες ἀπήγγειλαν τοῖς λοιποῖς· οὐδὲ ἐκείνοις ἐπίστευσαν.
Mar 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. (kjv) Mar 16:14 Afterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen. Mar 16:14 ὕστερον [δὲ] ἀνακειμένοις αὐτοῖς τοῖς ἕνδεκα ἐφανερώθη, καὶ ὠνείδισεν τὴν ἀπιστίαν αὐτῶν καὶ σκληροκαρδίαν ὅτι τοῖς θεασαμένοις αὐτὸν ἐγηγερμένον οὐκ ἐπίστευσαν.
Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (kjv) Mar 16:15 And He said to them," Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mar 16:15 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, πορευθέντες εἰς τὸν κόσμον ἅπαντα κηρύξατε τὸ εὐαγγέλιον πάσῃ τῇ κτίσει.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (kjv) Mar 16:16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. Mar 16:16 ὁ πιστεύσας καὶ βαπτισθεὶς σωθήσεται, ὁ δὲ ἀπιστήσας κατακριθήσεται.
Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; (kjv) Mar 16:17 These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; Mar 16:17 σημεῖα δὲ τοῖς πιστεύσασιν ταῦτα παρακολουθήσει· ἐν τῶ ὀνόματί μου δαιμόνια ἐκβαλοῦσιν, γλώσσαις λαλήσουσιν καιναῖς,
Mar 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (kjv) Mar 16:18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." Mar 16:18 [καὶ ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν] ὄφεις ἀροῦσιν, κἂν θανάσιμόν τι πίωσιν οὐ μὴ αὐτοὺς βλάψῃ, ἐπὶ ἀρρώστους χεῖρας ἐπιθήσουσιν καὶ καλῶς ἕξουσιν.
Mar 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. (kjv) Mar 16:19 So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. Mar 16:19 ὁ μὲν οὗν κύριος ἰησοῦς μετὰ τὸ λαλῆσαι αὐτοῖς ἀνελήμφθη εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐκ δεξιῶν τοῦ θεοῦ.
Mar 16:20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.
