Luk 19:4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. Luk 19:4 So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way.
Luk 19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. Luk 19:5 When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him," Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house."

Luk 19:7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. Luk 19:7 When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying," He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner."
Luk 19:8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. Luk 19:8 Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord," Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much."
Luk 19:9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. Luk 19:9 And Jesus said to him," Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.
Luk 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luk 19:10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
Luk 19:11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear. Luk 19:11 While they were listening to these things, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because He was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.
Luk 19:12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. Luk 19:12 So He said," A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then return.
Luk 19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. Luk 19:13 And he called ten of his slaves, and gave them ten minas and said to them, 'Do business with this until I come back.
Luk 19:14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. Luk 19:14 But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us.
Luk 19:15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. Luk 19:15 When he returned, after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be called to him so that he might know what business they had done.
Luk 19:16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. Luk 19:16 The first appeared, saying, 'Master, your mina has made ten minas more.
Luk 19:17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. Luk 19:17 And he said to him, 'Well done, good slave, because you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to be in authority over ten cities.
Luk 19:18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. Luk 19:18 The second came, saying, 'Your mina, master, has made five minas.
Luk 19:19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. Luk 19:19 And he said to him also, 'And you are to be over five cities.
Luk 19:20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: Luk 19:20 Another came, saying, 'Master, here is your mina, which I kept put away in a handkerchief; Luk 19:20 καὶ ὁ ἕτερος ἦλθεν λέγων, κύριε, ἰδοὺ ἡ μνᾶ σου ἣν εἶχον ἀποκειμένην ἐν σουδαρίῳ·
Luk 19:21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. Luk 19:21 for I was afraid of you, because you are an exacting man; you take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.
Luk 19:22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: Luk 19:22 He *said to him, 'By your own words I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am an exacting man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow? Luk 19:22 λέγει αὐτῶ, ἐκ τοῦ στόματός σου κρίνω σε, πονηρὲ δοῦλε. ᾔδεις ὅτι ἐγὼ ἄνθρωπος αὐστηρός εἰμι, αἴρων ὃ οὐκ ἔθηκα καὶ θερίζων ὃ οὐκ ἔσπειρα;
Luk 19:23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury? Luk 19:23 Then why did you not put my money in the bank, and having come, I would have collected it with interest?
Luk 19:24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. Luk 19:24 Then he said to the bystanders, 'Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.

Luk 19:26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. Luk 19:26 I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.
Luk 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. Luk 19:27 But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence."

Luk 19:31 And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him. Luk 19:31 If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it? 'you shall say, 'The Lord has need of it.

Luk 19:47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him, Luk 19:47 And He was teaching daily in the temple; but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people were trying to destroy Him, Luk 19:47 καὶ ἦν διδάσκων τὸ καθ᾽ ἡμέραν ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ.
Luk 19:48 And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him. Luk 19:48 and they could not find anything that they might do, for all the people were hanging on to every word He said.
Luk 20:1 And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders, Luk 20:1 On one of the days while He was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders confronted Him, Luk 20:1 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν μιᾷ τῶν ἡμερῶν διδάσκοντος αὐτοῦ τὸν λαὸν ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ καὶ εὐαγγελιζομένου ἐπέστησαν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς σὺν τοῖς πρεσβυτέροις,
Luk 20:2 And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority? Luk 20:2 and they spoke, saying to Him," Tell us by what authority You are doing these things, or who is the one who gave You this authority?"
Luk 20:3 And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: Luk 20:3 Jesus answered and said to them," I will also ask you a question, and you tell Me: Luk 20:3 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς, ἐρωτήσω ὑμᾶς κἀγὼ λόγον, καὶ εἴπατέ μοι·
Luk 20:4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? Luk 20:4 Was the baptism of John from heaven or from men?" Luk 20:4 τὸ βάπτισμα ἰωάννου ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἦν ἢ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων;
Luk 20:5 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not? Luk 20:5 They reasoned among themselves, saying," If we say, 'From heaven, 'He will say, 'Why did you not believe him? ' Luk 20:5 οἱ δὲ συνελογίσαντο πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς λέγοντες ὅτι ἐὰν εἴπωμεν, ἐξ οὐρανοῦ, ἐρεῖ, διὰ τί οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῶ;
Luk 20:6 But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet. Luk 20:6 But if we say, 'From men, 'all the people will stone us to death, for they are convinced that John was a prophet."
Luk 20:7 And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was. Luk 20:7 So they answered that they did not know where it came from.
Luk 20:8 And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. Luk 20:8 And Jesus said to them," Nor will I tell you by what authority I do these things."
Luk 20:9 Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time. Luk 20:9 And He began to tell the people this parable." A man planted a vineyard and rented it out to vine-growers, and went on a journey for a long time.
Luk 20:10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty. Luk 20:10 At the harvest time he sent a slave to the vine-growers, so that they would give him some of the produce of the vineyard; but the vine-growers beat him and sent him away empty-handed.
Luk 20:11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty. Luk 20:11 And he proceeded to send another slave; and they beat him also and treated him shamefully and sent him away empty-handed.
Luk 20:12 And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out. Luk 20:12 And he proceeded to send a third; and this one also they wounded and cast out.
Luk 20:13 Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him. Luk 20:13 The owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.
Luk 20:14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. Luk 20:14 But when the vine-growers saw him, they reasoned with one another, saying, 'This is the heir; let us kill him so that the inheritance will be ours.
Luk 20:15 So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them? Luk 20:15 So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do to them? Luk 20:15 καὶ ἐκβαλόντες αὐτὸν ἔξω τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος ἀπέκτειναν. τί οὗν ποιήσει αὐτοῖς ὁ κύριος τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος;
Luk 20:16 He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid. Luk 20:16 He will come and destroy these vine-growers and will give the vineyard to others." When they heard it, they said," May it never be!"
Luk 20:17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? Luk 20:17 But Jesus looked at them and said," What then is this that is written: 'The stone which the builders rejected, This became the chief corner stone'? Luk 20:17 ὁ δὲ ἐμβλέψας αὐτοῖς εἶπεν, τί οὗν ἐστιν τὸ γεγραμμένον τοῦτο· λίθον ὃν ἀπεδοκίμασαν οἱ οἰκοδομοῦντες, οὖτος ἐγενήθη εἰς κεφαλὴν γωνίας;
Luk 20:18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. Luk 20:18 Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust."
Luk 20:19 And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. Luk 20:19 The scribes and the chief priests tried to lay hands on Him that very hour, and they feared the people; for they understood that He spoke this parable against them.
Luk 20:20 And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. Luk 20:20 So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, in order that they might catch Him in some statement, so that they could deliver Him to the rule and the authority of the governor.
Luk 20:21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly: Luk 20:21 They questioned Him, saying," Teacher, we know that You speak and teach correctly, and You are not partial to any, but teach the way of God in truth.
Luk 20:22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no? Luk 20:22 Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" Luk 20:22 ἔξεστιν ἡμᾶς καίσαρι φόρον δοῦναι ἢ οὔ;
Luk 20:23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Luk 20:23 But He detected their trickery and said to them, Luk 20:23 κατανοήσας δὲ αὐτῶν τὴν πανουργίαν εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς,
Luk 20:24 Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's. Luk 20:24 "Show Me a denarius. Whose likeness and inscription does it have?" They said," Caesar's."
Luk 20:25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's. Luk 20:25 And He said to them," Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
Luk 20:26 And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace. Luk 20:26 And they were unable to catch Him in a saying in the presence of the people; and being amazed at His answer, they became silent.
Luk 20:27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him, Luk 20:27 Now there came to Him some of the Sadducees (who say that there is no resurrection), Luk 20:27 προσελθόντες δέ τινες τῶν σαδδουκαίων, οἱ [ἀντι]λέγοντες ἀνάστασιν μὴ εἶναι, ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν
Luk 20:28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Luk 20:28 and they questioned Him, saying," Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife, and he is childless, his brother should marry the wife and raise up children to his brother.
Luk 20:29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children. Luk 20:29 Now there were seven brothers; and the first took a wife and died childless; Luk 20:29 ἑπτὰ οὗν ἀδελφοὶ ἦσαν· καὶ ὁ πρῶτος λαβὼν γυναῖκα ἀπέθανεν ἄτεκνος·
Luk 20:30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless. Luk 20:30 and the second Luk 20:30 καὶ ὁ δεύτερος
Luk 20:31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died. Luk 20:31 and the third married her; and in the same way all seven died, leaving no children.
Luk 20:32 Last of all the woman died also. Luk 20:32 Finally the woman died also.
Luk 20:33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife. Luk 20:33 In the resurrection therefore, which one's wife will she be? For all seven had married her."
Luk 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: Luk 20:34 Jesus said to them," The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, Luk 20:34 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς, οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου γαμοῦσιν καὶ γαμίσκονται,
Luk 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Luk 20:35 but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; Luk 20:35 οἱ δὲ καταξιωθέντες τοῦ αἰῶνος ἐκείνου τυχεῖν καὶ τῆς ἀναστάσεως τῆς ἐκ νεκρῶν οὔτε γαμοῦσιν οὔτε γαμίζονται·
Luk 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. Luk 20:36 for they cannot even die anymore, because they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.
Luk 20:37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Luk 20:37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the burning bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
Luk 20:38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. Luk 20:38 Now He is not the God of the dead but of the living; for all live to Him."
Luk 20:39 Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said. Luk 20:39 Some of the scribes answered and said," Teacher, You have spoken well."
Luk 20:40 And after that they durst not ask him any question at all. Luk 20:40 For they did not have courage to question Him any longer about anything.
Luk 20:41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son? Luk 20:41 Then He said to them," How is it that they say the Christ is David's son? Luk 20:41 εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς, πῶς λέγουσιν τὸν χριστὸν εἶναι δαυὶδ υἱόν;
Luk 20:42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Luk 20:42 For David himself says in the book of Psalms, 'The Lord said to my Lord," Sit at My right hand, Luk 20:42 αὐτὸς γὰρ δαυὶδ λέγει ἐν βίβλῳ ψαλμῶν, εἶπεν κύριος τῶ κυρίῳ μου, κάθου ἐκ δεξιῶν μου
Luk 20:43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool. Luk 20:43 Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet."'
Luk 20:44 David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son? Luk 20:44 Therefore David calls Him 'Lord, 'and how is He his son?" Luk 20:44 δαυὶδ οὗν κύριον αὐτὸν καλεῖ, καὶ πῶς αὐτοῦ υἱός ἐστιν;
Luk 20:45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, Luk 20:45 And while all the people were listening, He said to the disciples, Luk 20:45 ἀκούοντος δὲ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ εἶπεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς [αὐτοῦ],
Luk 20:46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; Luk 20:46 "Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love respectful greetings in the market places, and chief seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets, Luk 20:46 προσέχετε ἀπὸ τῶν γραμματέων τῶν θελόντων περιπατεῖν ἐν στολαῖς καὶ φιλούντων ἀσπασμοὺς ἐν ταῖς ἀγοραῖς καὶ πρωτοκαθεδρίας ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ πρωτοκλισίας ἐν τοῖς δείπνοις,
Luk 20:47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation. Luk 20:47 who devour widows' houses, and for appearance's sake offer long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation."
