Day - 308 - John 7-8
Jn 7:1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. Jn 7:1 After these things Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.
Jn 7:2 Now the Jew's feast of tabernacles was at hand. Jn 7:2 Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was near.
Jn 7:3 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. Jn 7:3 Therefore His brothers said to Him," Leave here and go into Judea, so that Your disciples also may see Your works which You are doing.
Jn 7:4 For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. Jn 7:4 For no one does anything in secret when he himself seeks to be known publicly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world."
Jn 7:5 For neither did his brethren believe in him. Jn 7:5 For not even His brothers were believing in Him.
Jn 7:6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. Jn 7:6 So Jesus *said to them," My time is not yet here, but your time is always opportune.
Jn 7:7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. Jn 7:7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil.
Jn 7 8 Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast for my time is not yet full come. Jn 7:8 Go up to the feast yourselves; I do not go up to this feast because My time has not yet fully come."
Jn 7:9 When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. Jn 7:9 Having said these things to them, He stayed in Galilee.
Jn 7:10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. Jn 7:10 But when His brothers had gone up to the feast, then He Himself also went up, not publicly, but as if, in secret.
Jn 7:11 Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he? Jn 7:11 So the Jews were seeking Him at the feast and were saying," Where is He?" Joh 7:11 οἱ οὗν ἰουδαῖοι ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ ἑορτῇ καὶ ἔλεγον, ποῦ ἐστιν ἐκεῖνος;
Jn 7 12 And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people. Jn 7:12 There was much grumbling among the crowds concerning Him; some were saying," He is a good man"; others were saying," No, on the contrary, He leads the people astray."
Jn 7:13 Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews. Jn 7:13 Yet no one was speaking openly of Him for fear of the Jews.
Jn 7:14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. Jn 7:14 But when it was now the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and began to teach.
Jn 7:15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? Jn 7:15 The Jews then were astonished, saying," How has this man become learned, having never been educated?" Joh 7:15 ἐθαύμαζον οὗν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι λέγοντες, πῶς οὖτος γράμματα οἶδεν μὴ μεμαθηκώς;
Jn 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. Jn 7:16 So Jesus answered them and said," My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
Jn 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. Jn 7:17 If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.
Jn 7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. Jn 7:18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Jn 7:19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? Jn 7:19 "Did not Moses give you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why do you seek to kill Me?" Joh 7:19 οὐ μωϊσῆς δέδωκεν ὑμῖν τὸν νόμον; καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ ὑμῶν ποιεῖ τὸν νόμον. τί με ζητεῖτε ἀποκτεῖναι;
Jn 7:20 The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? Jn 7:20 The crowd answered," You have a demon! Who seeks to kill You?" Joh 7:20 ἀπεκρίθη ὁ ὄχλος, δαιμόνιον ἔχεις· τίς σε ζητεῖ ἀποκτεῖναι;
Jn 7:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. Jn 7:21 Jesus answered them," I did one deed, and you all marvel.
Jn 7:22 Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. Jn 7:22 For this reason Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man.
Jn 7:23 If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? Jn 7:23 If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath? Joh 7:23 εἰ περιτομὴν λαμβάνει ἄνθρωπος ἐν σαββάτῳ ἵνα μὴ λυθῇ ὁ νόμος μωϊσέως, ἐμοὶ χολᾶτε ὅτι ὅλον ἄνθρωπον ὑγιῆ ἐποίησα ἐν σαββάτῳ;
Jn 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Jn 7:24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."
Jn 7:25 Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? Jn 7:25 So some of the people of Jerusalem were saying," Is this not the man whom they are seeking to kill? Joh 7:25 ἔλεγον οὗν τινες ἐκ τῶν ἱεροσολυμιτῶν, οὐχ οὖτός ἐστιν ὃν ζητοῦσιν ἀποκτεῖναι;
Jn 7:26 But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ? Jn 7:26 Look, He is speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to Him. The rulers do not really know that this is the Christ, do they? Joh 7:26 καὶ ἴδε παρρησίᾳ λαλεῖ καὶ οὐδὲν αὐτῶ λέγουσιν. μήποτε ἀληθῶς ἔγνωσαν οἱ ἄρχοντες ὅτι οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ χριστός;
Jn 7:27 Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is. Jn 7:27 However, we know where this man is from; but whenever the Christ may come, no one knows where He is from."
Jn 7:28 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. Jn 7:28 Then Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying," You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.
Jn 7:29 But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me. Jn 7:29 I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me."
Jn 7:30 Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. Jn 7:30 So they were seeking to seize Him; and no man laid his hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
Jn 7:31 And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done? Jn 7:31 But many of the crowd believed in Him; and they were saying," When the Christ comes, He will not perform more signs than those which this man has, will He?" Joh 7:31 ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου δὲ πολλοὶ ἐπίστευσαν εἰς αὐτόν, καὶ ἔλεγον, ὁ χριστὸς ὅταν ἔλθῃ μὴ πλείονα σημεῖα ποιήσει ὧν οὖτος ἐποίησεν;
Jn 7:32 The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him. Jn 7:32 The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about Him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to seize Him.
Jn 7:33 Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. Jn 7:33 Therefore Jesus said," For a little while longer I am with you, then I go to Him who sent Me.
Jn 7:34 Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come. Jn 7:34 You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come."
Jn 7:35 Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? Jn 7:35 The Jews then said to one another," Where does this man intend to go that we will not find Him? He is not intending to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is He? Joh 7:35 εἶπον οὗν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι πρὸς ἑαυτούς, ποῦ οὖτος μέλλει πορεύεσθαι ὅτι ἡμεῖς οὐχ εὑρήσομεν αὐτόν; μὴ εἰς τὴν διασπορὰν τῶν ἑλλήνων μέλλει πορεύεσθαι καὶ διδάσκειν τοὺς ἕλληνας;
Jn 7:36 What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come? Jn 7:36 What is this statement that He said, 'You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come'?" Joh 7:36 τίς ἐστιν ὁ λόγος οὖτος ὃν εἶπεν, ζητήσετέ με καὶ οὐχ εὑρήσετέ [με], καὶ ὅπου εἰμὶ ἐγὼ ὑμεῖς οὐ δύνασθε ἐλθεῖν;
Jn 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. Jn 7:37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying," If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
Jn 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. Jn 7:38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.
Jn 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Jn 7:39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Jn 7:40 Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet. Jn 7:40 Some of the people therefore, when they heard these words, were saying," This certainly is the Prophet."
Jn 7:41 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? Jn 7:41 Others were saying," This is the Christ." Still others were saying," Surely the Christ is not going to come from Galilee, is He? Joh 7:41 ἄλλοι ἔλεγον, οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ χριστός· οἱ δὲ ἔλεγον, μὴ γὰρ ἐκ τῆς γαλιλαίας ὁ χριστὸς ἔρχεται;
Jn 7:42 Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? Jn 7:42 Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?" Joh 7:42 οὐχ ἡ γραφὴ εἶπεν ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος δαυίδ, καὶ ἀπὸ βηθλέεμ τῆς κώμης ὅπου ἦν δαυίδ, ἔρχεται ὁ χριστὸς;
Jn 7:43 So there was a division among the people because of him. Jn 7:43 So a division occurred in the crowd because of Him.
Jn 7:44 And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him. Jn 7:44 Some of them wanted to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
Jn 7:45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? Jn 7:45 The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them," Why did you not bring Him?" Joh 7:45 ἦλθον οὗν οἱ ὑπηρέται πρὸς τοὺς ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ φαρισαίους, καὶ εἶπον αὐτοῖς ἐκεῖνοι, διὰ τί οὐκ ἠγάγετε αὐτόν;
Jn 7:46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. Jn 7:46 The officers answered," Never has a man spoken the way this man speaks."
Jn 7:47 Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? Jn 7:47 The Pharisees then answered them," You have not also been led astray, have you? Joh 7:47 ἀπεκρίθησαν οὗν αὐτοῖς οἱ φαρισαῖοι, μὴ καὶ ὑμεῖς πεπλάνησθε;
Jn 7:48 Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? Jn 7:48 No one of the rulers or Pharisees has believed in Him, has he? Joh 7:48 μή τις ἐκ τῶν ἀρχόντων ἐπίστευσεν εἰς αὐτὸν ἢ ἐκ τῶν φαρισαίων;
Jn 7:49 But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed. Jn 7:49 But this crowd which does not know the Law is accursed."
Jn 7:50 Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) Jn 7:50 Nicodemus (he who came to Him before, being one of them) *said to them, Joh 7:50 λέγει νικόδημος πρὸς αὐτούς, ὁ ἐλθὼν πρὸς αὐτὸν [τὸ] πρότερον, εἷς ὢν ἐξ αὐτῶν,
Jn 7:51 Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth? Jn 7:51 "Our Law does not judge a man unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?" Joh 7:51 μὴ ὁ νόμος ἡμῶν κρίνει τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἐὰν μὴ ἀκούσῃ πρῶτον παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ γνῶ τί ποιεῖ;
Jn 7:52 They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. Jn 7:52 They answered him," You are not also from Galilee, are you? Search, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee."
Jn 7:53 And every man went unto his own house. Jn 7:53 [ Everyone went to his home.
Jn 8:1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. Jn 8:1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
Jn 8:2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. Jn 8:2 Early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them.
Jn 8:3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, Jn 8:3 The scribes and the Pharisees *brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court, Joh 8:3 ἄγουσιν δὲ οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ φαρισαῖοι γυναῖκα ἐπὶ μοιχείᾳ κατειλημμένην, καὶ στήσαντες αὐτὴν ἐν μέσῳ
Jn 8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Jn 8:4 they *said to Him," Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act.
Jn 8:5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? Jn 8:5 Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?" Joh 8:5 ἐν δὲ τῶ νόμῳ ἡμῖν μωϊσῆς ἐνετείλατο τὰς τοιαύτας λιθάζειν· σὺ οὗν τί λέγεις;
Jn 8:6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. Jn 8:6 They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground.
Jn 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. Jn 8:7 But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them," He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."
Jn 8:8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. Jn 8:8 Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.
Jn 8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. Jn 8:9 When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court.
Jn 8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? Jn 8:10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her," Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" Joh 8:10 ἀνακύψας δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῇ, γύναι, ποῦ εἰσιν; οὐδείς σε κατέκρινεν;
Jn 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. Jn 8:11 She said," No one, Lord." And Jesus said," I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more."]
Jn 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Jn 8:12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying," I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."
Jn 8:13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true. Jn 8:13 So the Pharisees said to Him," You are testifying about Yourself; Your testimony is not true."
Jn 8:14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. Jn 8:14 Jesus answered and said to them," Even if I testify about Myself, My testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.
Jn 8:15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. Jn 8:15 You judge according to the flesh; I am not judging anyone.
Jn 8:16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. Jn 8:16 But even if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone in it, but I and the Father who sent Me.
Jn 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. Jn 8:17 Even in your law it has been written that the testimony of two men is true.
Jn 8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. Jn 8:18 I am He who testifies about Myself, and the Father who sent Me testifies about Me."
Jn 8:19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. Jn 8:19 So they were saying to Him," Where is Your Father?" Jesus answered," You know neither Me nor My Father; if you knew Me, you would know My Father also."
Jn 8:20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come. Jn 8:20 These words He spoke in the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and no one seized Him, because His hour had not yet come.
Jn 8:21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. Jn 8:21 Then He said again to them," I go away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin; where I am going, you cannot come."
Jn 8:22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. Jn 8:22 So the Jews were saying," Surely He will not kill Himself, will He, since He says, 'Where I am going, you cannot come'?" Joh 8:22 ἔλεγον οὗν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι, μήτι ἀποκτενεῖ ἑαυτόν, ὅτι λέγει, ὅπου ἐγὼ ὑπάγω ὑμεῖς οὐ δύνασθε ἐλθεῖν;
Jn 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. Jn 8:23 And He was saying to them," You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world.
Jn 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. Jn 8:24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."
Jn 8:25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. Jn 8:25 So they were saying to Him," Who are You?" Jesus said to them," What have I been saying to you from the beginning? Joh 8:25 ἔλεγον οὗν αὐτῶ, σὺ τίς εἶ; εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς, τὴν ἀρχὴν ὅ τι καὶ λαλῶ ὑμῖν;
Jn 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. Jn 8:26 I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and the things which I heard from Him, these I speak to the world."
Jn 8:27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father. Jn 8:27 They did not realize that He had been speaking to them about the Father.
Jn 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. Jn 8:28 So Jesus said," When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me.
Jn 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. Jn 8:29 And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him."
Jn 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him. Jn 8:30 As He spoke these things, many came to believe in Him.
Jn 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; Jn 8:31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him," If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; Joh 8:31 ἔλεγεν οὗν ὁ ἰησοῦς πρὸς τοὺς πεπιστευκότας αὐτῶ ἰουδαίους, ἐὰν ὑμεῖς μείνητε ἐν τῶ λόγῳ τῶ ἐμῶ, ἀληθῶς μαθηταί μού ἐστε,
Jn 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Jn 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
Jn 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jn 8:33 They answered Him," We are Abraham's descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, 'You will become free'?" Joh 8:33 ἀπεκρίθησαν πρὸς αὐτόν, σπέρμα ἀβραάμ ἐσμεν καὶ οὐδενὶ δεδουλεύκαμεν πώποτε· πῶς σὺ λέγεις ὅτι ἐλεύθεροι γενήσεσθε;
Jn 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. Jn 8:34 Jesus answered them," Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.
Jn 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. Jn 8:35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever.
Jn 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Jn 8:36 So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
Jn 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. Jn 8:37 I know that you are Abraham's descendants; yet you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you.
Jn 8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. Jn 8:38 I speak the things which I have seen with My Father; therefore you also do the things which you heard from your father."
Jn 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. Jn 8:39 They answered and said to Him," Abraham is our father." Jesus *said to them," If you are Abraham's children, do the deeds of Abraham.
Jn 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Jn 8:40 But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do.
Jn 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. Jn 8:41 You are doing the deeds of your father." They said to Him," We were not born of fornication; we have one Father: God."
Jn 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Jn 8:42 Jesus said to them," If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me.
Jn 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Jn 8:43 Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word.
Jn 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Jn 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Jn 8:45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Jn 8:45 But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.
Jn 8:46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? Jn 8:46 Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me? Joh 8:46 τίς ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐλέγχει με περὶ ἁμαρτίας; εἰ ἀλήθειαν λέγω, διὰ τί ὑμεῖς οὐ πιστεύετέ μοι;
Jn 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. Jn 8:47 He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God."
Jn 8:48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? Jn 8:48 The Jews answered and said to Him," Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?" Joh 8:48 ἀπεκρίθησαν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῶ, οὐ καλῶς λέγομεν ἡμεῖς ὅτι σαμαρίτης εἶ σὺ καὶ δαιμόνιον ἔχεις;
Jn 8:49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me. Jn 8:49 Jesus answered," I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me.
Jn 8:50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth. Jn 8:50 But I do not seek My glory; there is One who seeks and judges.
Jn 8:51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. Jn 8:51 Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he will never see death."
Jn 8:52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. Jn 8:52 The Jews said to Him," Now we know that You have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets also; and You say, 'If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste of death.
Jn 8:53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? Jn 8:53 Surely You are not greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets died too; whom do You make Yourself out to be?" Joh 8:53 μὴ σὺ μείζων εἶ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν ἀβραάμ, ὅστις ἀπέθανεν; καὶ οἱ προφῆται ἀπέθανον· τίνα σεαυτὸν ποιεῖς;
Jn 8 54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God Jn 8:54 Jesus answered," If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, 'He is our God'; Joh 8:54 ἀπεκρίθη ἰησοῦς, ἐὰν ἐγὼ δοξάσω ἐμαυτόν, ἡ δόξα μου οὐδέν ἐστιν· ἔστιν ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ δοξάζων με, ὃν ὑμεῖς λέγετε ὅτι θεὸς ἡμῶν ἐστιν·
Jn 8 55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you but I know him, and keep his saying. Jn 8:55 and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say that I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you, but I do know Him and keep His word.
Jn 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Jn 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad."
Jn 8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jn 8:57 So the Jews said to Him," You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" Joh 8:57 εἶπον οὗν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι πρὸς αὐτόν, πεντήκοντα ἔτη οὔπω ἔχεις καὶ ἀβραὰμ ἑώρακας;
Jn 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Jn 8:58 Jesus said to them," Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am."
Jn 8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. Jn 8:59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.
