Day - 314 - John 20-21
Jn 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Jn 20:1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene *came early to the tomb, while it *was still dark, and *saw the stone already taken away from the tomb.
Jn 20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. Jn 20:2 So she *ran and *came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and *said to them," They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him."
Jn 20:3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. Jn 20:3 So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb.
Jn 20:4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. Jn 20:4 The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first; Joh 20:4 ἔτρεχον δὲ οἱ δύο ὁμοῦ· καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μαθητὴς προέδραμεν τάχιον τοῦ πέτρου καὶ ἦλθεν πρῶτος εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον,
Jn 20:5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. Jn 20:5 and stooping and looking in, he *saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in.
Jn 20:6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, Jn 20:6 And so Simon Peter also *came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he *saw the linen wrappings lying there, Joh 20:6 ἔρχεται οὗν καὶ σίμων πέτρος ἀκολουθῶν αὐτῶ, καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον· καὶ θεωρεῖ τὰ ὀθόνια κείμενα,
Jn 20:7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. Jn 20:7 and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself.
Jn 20:8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. Jn 20:8 So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed.
Jn 20:9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. Jn 20:9 For as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.
Jn 20:10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home. Jn 20:10 So the disciples went away again to their own homes.
Jn 20:11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, Jn 20:11 But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb; Joh 20:11 μαρία δὲ εἱστήκει πρὸς τῶ μνημείῳ ἔξω κλαίουσα.
Jn 20:12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. Jn 20:12 and she *saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been lying.
Jn 20:13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him. Jn 20:13 And they *said to her," Woman, why are you weeping?" She *said to them," Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him."
Jn 20:14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jn 20:14 When she had said this, she turned around and *saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.
Jn 20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jn 20:15 Jesus *said to her," Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" Supposing Him to be the gardener, she *said to Him," Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away."
Jn 20:16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jn 20:16 Jesus *said to her," Mary!" She turned and *said to Him in Hebrew," Rabboni!" (which means, Teacher).
Jn 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Jn 20:17 Jesus *said to her," Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.
Jn 20:18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the LORD, and that he had spoken these things unto her. Jn 20:18 Mary Magdalene *came, announcing to the disciples," I have seen the Lord," and that He had said these things to her.
Jn 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. Jn 20:19 So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and *said to them," Peace be with you."
Jn 20:20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the LORD. Jn 20:20 And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
Jn 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. Jn 20:21 So Jesus said to them again," Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you."
Jn 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Jn 20:22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them," Receive the Holy Spirit.
Jn 20:23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. Jn 20:23 If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained."
Jn 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. Jn 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
Jn 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. Jn 20:25 So the other disciples were saying to him," We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them," Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."
Jn 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Jn 20:26 After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said," Peace be with you."
Jn 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. Jn 20:27 Then He *said to Thomas," Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing."
Jn 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God. Jn 20:28 Thomas answered and said to Him," My Lord and my God!"
Jn 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Jn 20:29 Jesus *said to him," Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed."
Jn 20:30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: Jn 20:30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; Joh 20:30 πολλὰ μὲν οὗν καὶ ἄλλα σημεῖα ἐποίησεν ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐνώπιον τῶν μαθητῶν [αὐτοῦ], ἃ οὐκ ἔστιν γεγραμμένα ἐν τῶ βιβλίῳ τούτῳ·
Jn 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. Jn 20:31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
Jn 21:1 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself. Jn 21:1 After these things Jesus manifested Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and He manifested Himself in this way.
Jn 21:2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Jn 21:2 Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.
Jn 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. Jn 21:3 Simon Peter *said to them," I am going fishing." They *said to him," We will also come with you." They went out and got into the boat; and that night they caught nothing.
Jn 21:4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Jn 21:4 But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
Jn 21:5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. Jn 21:5 So Jesus *said to them," Children, you do not have any fish, do you?" They answered Him," No." Joh 21:5 λέγει οὗν αὐτοῖς [ὁ] ἰησοῦς, παιδία, μή τι προσφάγιον ἔχετε; ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῶ, οὔ.
Jn 21:6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. Jn 21:6 And He said to them," Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch." So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish.
Jn 21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. Jn 21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved *said to Peter," It is the Lord." So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put his outer garment on (for he was stripped for work), and threw himself into the sea.
Jn 21:8 And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. Jn 21:8 But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about one hundred yards away, dragging the net full of fish.
Jn 21:9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. Jn 21:9 So when they got out on the land, they *saw a charcoal fire already laid and fish placed on it, and bread.
Jn 21:10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught. Jn 21:10 Jesus *said to them," Bring some of the fish which you have now caught."
Jn 21:11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken. Jn 21:11 Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.
Jn 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. Jn 21:12 Jesus *said to them," Come and have breakfast." None of the disciples ventured to question Him," Who are You?" knowing that it was the Lord.
Jn 21:13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise. Jn 21:13 Jesus *came and *took the bread and *gave it to them, and the fish likewise.
Jn 21:14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead. Jn 21:14 This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to the disciples, after He was raised from the dead.
Jn 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. Jn 21:15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus *said to Simon Peter," Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?" He *said to Him," Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He *said to him," Tend My lambs."
Jn 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. Jn 21:16 He *said to him again a second time," Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" He *said to Him," Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He *said to him," Shepherd My sheep."
Jn 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. Jn 21:17 He *said to him the third time," Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time," Do you love Me?" And he said to Him," Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus *said to him," Tend My sheep.
Jn 21:18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. Jn 21:18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go."
Jn 21:19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me. Jn 21:19 Now this He said, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He *said to him," Follow Me!"
Jn 21:20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? Jn 21:20 Peter, turning around, *saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; the one who also had leaned back on His bosom at the supper and said," Lord, who is the one who betrays You?" Joh 21:20 ἐπιστραφεὶς ὁ πέτρος βλέπει τὸν μαθητὴν ὃν ἠγάπα ὁ ἰησοῦς ἀκολουθοῦντα, ὃς καὶ ἀνέπεσεν ἐν τῶ δείπνῳ ἐπὶ τὸ στῆθος αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν, κύριε, τίς ἐστιν ὁ παραδιδούς σε;
Jn 21:21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jn 21:21 So Peter seeing him *said to Jesus," Lord, and what about this man?" Joh 21:21 τοῦτον οὗν ἰδὼν ὁ πέτρος λέγει τῶ ἰησοῦ, κύριε, οὖτος δὲ τί;
Jn 21:22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. Jn 21:22 Jesus *said to him," If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!"
