2Ch 17:1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

2 Chr 17:1 Jehoshaphat his son then became king in his place, and made his position over Israel firm.
|
Ch2 17:1 καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Ιωσαφατ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ κατίσχυσεν Ιωσαφατ ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ
|
2Ch 17:2 And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

2 Chr 17:2 He placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had captured.

2Ch 17:3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

2 Chr 17:3 The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father David's earlier days and did not seek the Baals,

2Ch 17:4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

2 Chr 17:4 but sought the God of his father, followed His commandments, and did not act as Israel did.
|
Ch2 17:4 ἀλλὰ κύριον τὸν θεὸν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐξεζήτησεν καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἐντολαῖς τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐπορεύθη καὶ οὐχ ὡς τοῦ Ισραηλ τὰ ἔργα

2Ch 17:5 Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.

2 Chr 17:5 So the Lord established the kingdom in his control, and all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor.

2Ch 17:6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.

2 Chr 17:6 He took great pride in the ways of the Lord and again removed the high places and the Asherim from Judah.

2Ch 17:7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.

2Ch 17:8 And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.

2Ch 17:9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

2Ch 17:10 And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

2 Chr 17:10 Now the dread of the Lord was on all the kingdoms of the lands which were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.
|

2Ch 17:11 Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.

2 Chr 17:11 Some of the Philistines brought gifts and silver as tribute to Jehoshaphat; the Arabians also brought him flocks, 7,700 rams and 7,700 male goats.

2Ch 17:12 And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
|
2 Chr 17:12 So Jehoshaphat grew greater and greater, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

2Ch 17:13 And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.

2 Chr 17:13 He had large supplies in the cities of Judah, and warriors, valiant men, in Jerusalem.

Ch2 17:13 καὶ ἔργα πολλὰ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ ἐν τῇ Ιουδαίᾳ καὶ ἄνδρες πολεμισταὶ δυνατοὶ ἰσχύοντες ἐν Ιερουσαλημ

2Ch 17:14 And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.

2 Chr 17:14 This was their muster according to their fathers' households: of Judah, commanders of thousands, Adnah was the commander, and with him 300,000 valiant warriors;

2Ch 17:15 And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
|
2 Chr 17:15 and next to him was Johanan the commander, and with him 280,000;

Ch2 17:15 καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτὸν Ιωαναν ὁ ἡγούμενος καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ διακόσιαι ὀγδοήκοντα χιλιάδες

2Ch 17:16 And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.

2 Chr 17:16 and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who volunteered for the Lord, and with him 200,000 valiant warriors;

2Ch 17:17 And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.

2 Chr 17:17 and of Benjamin, Eliada a valiant warrior, and with him 200,000 armed with bow and shield;

Ch2 17:17 καὶ ἐκ τοῦ Βενιαμιν δυνατὸς δυνάμεως Ελιαδα καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ τοξόται καὶ πελτασταὶ διακόσιαι χιλιάδες

2Ch 17:18 And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
|
2 Chr 17:18 and next to him Jehozabad, and with him 180,000 equipped for war.
|
Ch2 17:18 καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτὸν Ιωζαβαδ καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἑκατὸν ὀγδοήκοντα χιλιάδες δυνατοὶ πολέμου

2Ch 17:19 These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
|
2 Chr 17:19 These are they who served the king, apart from those whom the king put in the fortified cities through all Judah.
|

2Ch 18:1 Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.
|
2 Chr 18:1 Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor; and he allied himself by marriage with Ahab.

Ch2 18:1 καὶ ἐγενήθη τῷ Ιωσαφατ ἔτι πλοῦτος καὶ δόξα πολλή καὶ ἐπεγαμβρεύσατο ἐν οἴκῳ Αχααβ

2Ch 18:2 And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramothgilead.
|
2 Chr 18:2 Some years later he went down to visit Ahab at Samaria. And Ahab slaughtered many sheep and oxen for him and the people who were with him, and induced him to go up against Ramoth-gilead.

Ch2 18:2 καὶ κατέβη διὰ τέλους ἐτῶν πρὸς Αχααβ εἰς Σαμάρειαν καὶ ἔθυσεν αὐτῷ Αχααβ πρόβατα καὶ μόσχους πολλοὺς καὶ τῷ λαῷ τῷ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἠπάτα αὐτὸν τοῦ συναναβῆναι μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ εἰς Ραμωθ τῆς Γαλααδίτιδος

2Ch 18:3 And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.
|
2 Chr 18:3 Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, "Will you go with me against Ramoth-gilead?" And he said to him, "I am as you are, and my people as your people, and we will be with you in the battle."

Ch2 18:3 καὶ εἶπεν Αχααβ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ πρὸς Ιωσαφατ βασιλέα Ιουδα πορεύσῃ μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ εἰς Ραμωθ τῆς Γαλααδίτιδος καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὡς ἐγώ οὕτως καὶ σύ ὡς ὁ λαός σου καὶ ὁ λαός μου μετὰ σοῦ εἰς πόλεμον

2Ch 18:4 And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.
|
2 Chr 18:4 Moreover, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Please inquire first for the word of the Lord."
|

2Ch 18:5 Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king's hand.
|
2 Chr 18:5 Then the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" And they said, "Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king."
|
Ch2 18:5 καὶ συνήγαγεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ τοὺς προφήτας τετρακοσίους ἄνδρας καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς εἰ πορευθῶ εἰς Ραμωθ Γαλααδ εἰς πόλεμον ἢ ἐπίσχω καὶ εἶπαν ἀνάβαινε καὶ δώσει ὁ θεὸς εἰς τὰς χεῖρας τοῦ βασιλέως

2Ch 18:6 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?
|
2 Chr 18:6 But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not yet a prophet of the Lord here that we may inquire of him?"
|
Ch2 18:6 καὶ εἶπεν Ιωσαφατ οὐκ ἔστιν ὧδε προφήτης τοῦ κυρίου ἔτι καὶ ἐπιζητήσομεν παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ
|
2Ch 18 7 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
|
2 Chr 18:7 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me but always evil. He is Micaiah, son of Imla." But Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so."

Ch2 18:7 καὶ εἶπεν βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ πρὸς Ιωσαφατ ἔτι ἀνὴρ εἷς τοῦ ζητῆσαι τὸν κύριον δι᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐγὼ ἐμίσησα αὐτόν ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν προφητεύων περὶ ἐμοῦ εἰς ἀγαθά ὅτι πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι αὐτοῦ εἰς κακά οὗτος Μιχαιας υἱὸς Ιεμλα καὶ εἶπεν Ιωσαφατ μὴ λαλείτω ὁ βασιλεὺς οὕτως

2Ch 18:8 And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.
|
2 Chr 18:8 Then the king of Israel called an officer and said, "Bring quickly Micaiah, Imla's son."
|
Ch2 18:8 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ εὐνοῦχον ἕνα καὶ εἶπεν τάχος Μιχαιαν υἱὸν Ιεμλα

2Ch 18:9 And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat either of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat in a void place at the entering in of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
|
2 Chr 18:9 Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
|
Ch2 18:9 καὶ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ καὶ Ιωσαφατ βασιλεὺς Ιουδα καθήμενοι ἕκαστος ἐπὶ θρόνου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνδεδυμένοι στολὰς καθήμενοι ἐν τῷ εὐρυχώρῳ θύρας πύλης Σαμαρείας καὶ πάντες οἱ προφῆται ἐπροφήτευον ἐναντίον αὐτῶν

2Ch 18:10 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith the LORD, With these thou shalt push Syria until they be consumed.
|
2 Chr 18:10 Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made horns of iron for himself and said, "Thus says the Lord, 'With these you shall gore the Arameans until they are consumed.'"

Ch2 18:10 καὶ ἐποίησεν ἑαυτῷ Σεδεκιας υἱὸς Χανανα κέρατα σιδηρᾶ καὶ εἶπεν τάδε λέγει κύριος ἐν τούτοις κερατιεῖς τὴν Συρίαν ἕως ἂν συντελεσθῇ

2Ch 18:11 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
|
2 Chr 18:11 All the prophets were prophesying thus, saying, "Go up to Ramoth-gilead and succeed, for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king."
|
Ch2 18:11 καὶ πάντες οἱ προφῆται ἐπροφήτευον οὕτως λέγοντες ἀνάβαινε εἰς Ραμωθ Γαλααδ καὶ εὐοδωθήσῃ καὶ δώσει κύριος εἰς χεῖρας τοῦ βασιλέως

2Ch 18:12 And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of their's, and speak thou good.
|
2 Chr 18:12 Then the messenger who went to summon Micaiah spoke to him saying, "Behold, the words of the prophets are uniformly favorable to the king. So please let your word be like one of them and speak favorably."
|
Ch2 18:12 καὶ ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ πορευθεὶς τοῦ καλέσαι τὸν Μιχαιαν ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ λέγων ἰδοὺ ἐλάλησαν οἱ προφῆται ἐν στόματι ἑνὶ ἀγαθὰ περὶ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἔστωσαν δὴ οἱ λόγοι σου ὡς ἑνὸς αὐτῶν καὶ λαλήσεις ἀγαθά
|
2Ch 18:13 And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.
|
2 Chr 18:13 But Micaiah said, "As the Lord lives, what my God says, that I will speak."
|
Ch2 18:13 καὶ εἶπεν Μιχαιας ζῇ κύριος ὅτι ὃ ἐὰν εἴπῃ ὁ θεὸς πρός με αὐτὸ λαλήσω

2Ch 18:14 And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.
|
2 Chr 18:14 When he came to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" He said, "Go up and succeed, for they will be given into your hand."

Ch2 18:14 καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ βασιλεύς Μιχαια εἰ πορευθῶ εἰς Ραμωθ Γαλααδ εἰς πόλεμον ἢ ἐπίσχω καὶ εἶπεν ἀνάβαινε καὶ εὐοδώσεις καὶ δοθήσονται εἰς χεῖρας ὑμῶν

2Ch 18:15 And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?
|
2 Chr 18:15 Then the king said to him, "How many times must I adjure you to speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?"
|
Ch2 18:15 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ βασιλεύς ποσάκις ὁρκίζω σε ἵνα μὴ λαλήσῃς πρός με πλὴν ἀλήθειαν ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου
|
2Ch 18:16 Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.
|
2 Chr 18:16 So he said, "I saw all Israel Scattered on the mountains, Like sheep which have no shepherd; And the Lord said,' These have no master. Let each of them return to his house in peace.'"

Ch2 18:16 καὶ εἶπεν εἶδον τὸν Ισραηλ διεσπαρμένους ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν ὡς πρόβατα οἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ποιμήν καὶ εἶπεν κύριος οὐκ ἔχουσιν ἡγούμενον ἀναστρεφέτωσαν ἕκαστος εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ἐν εἰρήνῃ

2Ch 18:17 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?
|
2 Chr 18:17 Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?"
|
Ch2 18:17 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ πρὸς Ιωσαφατ οὐκ εἶπά σοι ὅτι οὐ προφητεύει περὶ ἐμοῦ ἀγαθά ἀλλ᾽ ἢ κακά
|
2Ch 18:18 Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
|
2 Chr 18:18 Micaiah said, "Therefore, hear the word of the Lord. I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right and on His left.

Ch2 18:18 καὶ εἶπεν οὐχ οὕτως ἀκούσατε λόγον κυρίου εἶδον τὸν κύριον καθήμενον ἐπὶ θρόνου αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσα δύναμις τοῦ οὐρανοῦ εἱστήκει ἐκ δεξιῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξ ἀριστερῶν αὐτοῦ

2Ch 18:19 And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.
|
2 Chr 18:19 The Lord said, 'Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' And one said this while another said that.
|
Ch2 18:19 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος τίς ἀπατήσει τὸν Αχααβ βασιλέα Ισραηλ καὶ ἀναβήσεται καὶ πεσεῖται ἐν Ραμωθ Γαλααδ καὶ εἶπεν οὗτος οὕτως καὶ οὗτος εἶπεν οὕτως

2Ch 19:8 Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.

2Ch 19:10 And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in your cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.

2 Chr 19:10 Whenever any dispute comes to you from your brethren who live in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and ordinances, you shall warn them so that they may not be guilty before the Lord, and wrath may not come on you and your brethren. Thus you shall do and you will not be guilty.

2Ch 19:11 And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king's matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and the LORD shall be with the good.

2Ch 20:1 It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

2Ch 20:2 Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.

2Ch 20:3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

2Ch 20:6 And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

2 Chr 20:6 and he said, "O Lord, the God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens? And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against You.

2Ch 20:9 If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.
