Job 5:1 Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

Job 5:1 "Call now, is there anyone who will answer you? And to which of the holy ones will you turn?
|
Job 5:1 ἐπικάλεσαι δέ εἴ τίς σοι ὑπακούσεται ἢ εἴ τινα ἀγγέλων ἁγίων ὄψῃ
|
Job 5:2 For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.
|
Job 5:2 "For anger slays the foolish man, And jealousy kills the simple.
|
Job 5:2 καὶ γὰρ ἄφρονα ἀναιρεῖ ὀργή πεπλανημένον δὲ θανατοῖ ζῆλος
|
Job 5:3 I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
|
Job 5:3 "I have seen the foolish taking root, And I cursed his abode immediately.
|
Job 5:3 ἐγὼ δὲ ἑώρακα ἄφρονας ῥίζαν βάλλοντας ἀλλ᾽ εὐθέως ἐβρώθη αὐτῶν ἡ δίαιτα
|
Job 5:4 His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.
|
Job 5:4 "His sons are far from safety, They are even oppressed in the gate, And there is no deliverer.
|
Job 5:4 πόρρω γένοιντο οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν ἀπὸ σωτηρίας κολαβρισθείησαν δὲ ἐπὶ θύραις ἡσσόνων καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος
|
Job 5:5 Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.
|
Job 5:5 "His harvest the hungry devour And take it to a place of thorns, And the schemer is eager for their wealth.
|
Job 5:5 ἃ γὰρ ἐκεῖνοι συνήγαγον δίκαιοι ἔδονται αὐτοὶ δὲ ἐκ κακῶν οὐκ ἐξαίρετοι ἔσονται ἐκσιφωνισθείη αὐτῶν ἡ ἰσχύς
|
Job 5:6 Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;
|
Job 5:6 "For affliction does not come from the dust, Nor does trouble sprout from the ground,
|
Job 5:6 οὐ γὰρ μὴ ἐξέλθῃ ἐκ τῆς γῆς κόπος οὐδὲ ἐξ ὀρέων ἀναβλαστήσει πόνος
|
Job 5:7 Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
|
Job 5:7 For man is born for trouble, As sparks fly upward.
|
Job 5:7 ἀλλὰ ἄνθρωπος γεννᾶται κόπῳ νεοσσοὶ δὲ γυπὸς τὰ ὑψηλὰ πέτονται
|
Job 5:8 I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:
|
Job 5:8 "But as for me, I would seek God, And I would place my cause before God;
|
Job 5:8 οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ ἐγὼ δεηθήσομαι κυρίου κύριον δὲ τὸν πάντων δεσπότην ἐπικαλέσομαι
|
Job 5:9 Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:
|
Job 5:9 Who does great and unsearchable things, Wonders without number.
|
Job 5:9 τὸν ποιοῦντα μεγάλα καὶ ἀνεξιχνίαστα ἔνδοξά τε καὶ ἐξαίσια ὧν οὐκ ἔστιν ἀριθμός
|
Job 5:10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:
|
Job 5:10 "He gives rain on the earth And sends water on the fields,
|
Job 5:10 τὸν διδόντα ὑετὸν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἀποστέλλοντα ὕδωρ ἐπὶ τὴν ὑπ᾽ οὐρανόν
|
Job 5:11 To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.
|
Job 5:11 So that He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety.
|
Job 5:11 τὸν ποιοῦντα ταπεινοὺς εἰς ὕψος καὶ ἀπολωλότας ἐξεγείροντα
|
Job 5:12 He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.
|
Job 5:12 "He frustrates the plotting of the shrewd, So that their hands cannot attain success.
|
Job 5:12 διαλλάσσοντα βουλὰς πανούργων καὶ οὐ μὴ ποιήσουσιν αἱ χεῖρες αὐτῶν ἀληθές
|
Job 5:13 He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.
|
Job 5:13 "He captures the wise by their own shrewdness, And the advice of the cunning is quickly thwarted.
|
Job 5:13 ὁ καταλαμβάνων σοφοὺς ἐν τῇ φρονήσει βουλὴν δὲ πολυπλόκων ἐξέστησεν
|
Job 5:14 They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.
|
Job 5:14 "By day they meet with darkness, And grope at noon as in the night.
|
Job 5:14 ἡμέρας συναντήσεται αὐτοῖς σκότος τὸ δὲ μεσημβρινὸν ψηλαφήσαισαν ἴσα νυκτί
|
Job 5:15 But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
|
Job 5:15 "But He saves from the sword of their mouth, And the poor from the hand of the mighty.
|
Job 5:15 ἀπόλοιντο δὲ ἐν πολέμῳ ἀδύνατος δὲ ἐξέλθοι ἐκ χειρὸς δυνάστου
|
Job 5:16 So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
|
Job 5:16 "So the helpless has hope, And unrighteousness must shut its mouth.
|
Job 5:16 εἴη δὲ ἀδυνάτῳ ἐλπίς ἀδίκου δὲ στόμα ἐμφραχθείη
|
Job 5 17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty
|
Job 5:17 "Behold, how happy is the man whom God reproves, So do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
|
Job 5:17 μακάριος δὲ ἄνθρωπος ὃν ἤλεγξεν ὁ κύριος νουθέτημα δὲ παντοκράτορος μὴ ἀπαναίνου
|
Job 5:18 For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
|
Job 5:18 "For He inflicts pain, and gives relief; He wounds, and His hands also heal.
|
Job 5:18 αὐτὸς γὰρ ἀλγεῖν ποιεῖ καὶ πάλιν ἀποκαθίστησιν ἔπαισεν καὶ αἱ χεῖρες αὐτοῦ ἰάσαντο
|
Job 5:19 He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
|
Job 5:19 "From six troubles He will deliver you, Even in seven evil will not touch you.
|
Job 5:19 ἑξάκις ἐξ ἀναγκῶν σε ἐξελεῖται ἐν δὲ τῷ ἑβδόμῳ οὐ μὴ ἅψηταί σου κακόν
|
Job 5:20 In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
|
Job 5:20 "In famine He will redeem you from death, And in war from the power of the sword.
|
Job 5:20 ἐν λιμῷ ῥύσεταί σε ἐκ θανάτου ἐν πολέμῳ δὲ ἐκ χειρὸς σιδήρου λύσει σε
|
Job 5:21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
|
Job 5:21 "You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, And you will not be afraid of violence when it comes.
|
Job 5:21 ἀπὸ μάστιγος γλώσσης σε κρύψει καὶ οὐ μὴ φοβηθῇς ἀπὸ κακῶν ἐρχομένων
|
Job 5:22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
|
Job 5:22 "You will laugh at violence and famine, And you will not be afraid of wild beasts.
|
Job 5:22 ἀδίκων καὶ ἀνόμων καταγελάσῃ ἀπὸ δὲ θηρίων ἀγρίων οὐ μὴ φοβηθῇς
|
Job 5:23 For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
|
Job 5:23 "For you will be in league with the stones of the field, And the beasts of the field will be at peace with you.
|
Job 5:23 θῆρες γὰρ ἄγριοι εἰρηνεύσουσίν σοι
|
Job 5:24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
|
Job 5:24 "You will know that your tent is secure, For you will visit your abode and fear no loss.
|
Job 5:24 εἶτα γνώσῃ ὅτι εἰρηνεύσει σου ὁ οἶκος ἡ δὲ δίαιτα τῆς σκηνῆς σου οὐ μὴ ἁμάρτῃ
|
Job 5:25 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
|
Job 5:25 "You will know also that your descendants will be many, And your offspring as the grass of the earth.
|
Job 5:25 γνώσῃ δὲ ὅτι πολὺ τὸ σπέρμα σου τὰ δὲ τέκνα σου ἔσται ὥσπερ τὸ παμβότανον τοῦ ἀγροῦ
|
Job 5:26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.
|
Job 5:26 "You will come to the grave in full vigor, Like the stacking of grain in its season.
|
Job 5:26 ἐλεύσῃ δὲ ἐν τάφῳ ὥσπερ σῖτος ὥριμος κατὰ καιρὸν θεριζόμενος ἢ ὥσπερ θιμωνιὰ ἅλωνος καθ᾽ ὥραν συγκομισθεῖσα
|
Job 5:27 Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
|
Job 5:27 "Behold this; we have investigated it, and so it is. Hear it, and know for yourself."
|
Job 5:27 ἰδοὺ ταῦτα οὕτως ἐξιχνιάσαμεν ταῦτά ἐστιν ἃ ἀκηκόαμεν σὺ δὲ γνῶθι σεαυτῷ εἴ τι ἔπραξας
|
Job 6:1 But Job answered and said,

Job 6:1 ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ιωβ λέγει
|
Job 6:2 Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!
|
Job 6:2 "Oh that my grief were actually weighed And laid in the balances together with my calamity!
|
Job 6:2 εἰ γάρ τις ἱστῶν στήσαι μου τὴν ὀργήν τὰς δὲ ὀδύνας μου ἄραι ἐν ζυγῷ ὁμοθυμαδόν
|
Job 6:3 For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.
|
Job 6:3 "For then it would be heavier than the sand of the seas; Therefore my words have been rash.
|
Job 6:3 καὶ δὴ ἄμμου παραλίας βαρυτέρα ἔσται ἀλλ᾽ ὡς ἔοικεν τὰ ῥήματά μού ἐστιν φαῦλα
|
Job 6:4 For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.
|
Job 6:4 "For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, Their poison my spirit drinks; The terrors of God are arrayed against me.
|
Job 6:4 βέλη γὰρ κυρίου ἐν τῷ σώματί μού ἐστιν ὧν ὁ θυμὸς αὐτῶν ἐκπίνει μου τὸ αἷμα ὅταν ἄρξωμαι λαλεῖν κεντοῦσί με
|
Job 6:5 Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?
|
Job 6:5 "Does the wild donkey bray over his grass, Or does the ox low over his fodder?
|
Job 6:5 τί γάρ μὴ διὰ κενῆς κεκράξεται ὄνος ἄγριος ἀλλ᾽ ἢ τὰ σῖτα ζητῶν εἰ δὲ καὶ ῥήξει φωνὴν βοῦς ἐπὶ φάτνης ἔχων τὰ βρώματα
|
Job 6:6 Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
|
Job 6:6 "Can something tasteless be eaten without salt, Or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
|
Job 6:6 εἰ βρωθήσεται ἄρτος ἄνευ ἁλός εἰ δὲ καὶ ἔστιν γεῦμα ἐν ῥήμασιν κενοῖς
|
Job 6:7 The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.
|
Job 6:7 "My soul refuses to touch them; They are like loathsome food to me.
|
Job 6:7 οὐ δύναται γὰρ παύσασθαί μου ἡ ψυχή βρόμον γὰρ ὁρῶ τὰ σῖτά μου ὥσπερ ὀσμὴν λέοντος
|
Job 6:8 Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
|
Job 6:8 "Oh that my request might come to pass, And that God would grant my longing!
|
Job 6:8 εἰ γὰρ δῴη καὶ ἔλθοι μου ἡ αἴτησις καὶ τὴν ἐλπίδα μου δῴη ὁ κύριος
|
Job 6:9 Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
|
Job 6:9 "Would that God were willing to crush me, That He would loose His hand and cut me off!
|
Job 6:9 ἀρξάμενος ὁ κύριος τρωσάτω με εἰς τέλος δὲ μή με ἀνελέτω
|
Job 6:10 Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.
|
Job 6:10 "But it is still my consolation, And I rejoice in unsparing pain, That I have not denied the words of the Holy One.
|
Job 6:10 εἴη δέ μου πόλις τάφος ἐφ᾽ ἧς ἐπὶ τειχέων ἡλλόμην ἐπ᾽ αὐτῆς οὐ μὴ φείσωμαι οὐ γὰρ ἐψευσάμην ῥήματα ἅγια θεοῦ μου
|
Job 6:11 What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?
|
Job 6:11 "What is my strength, that I should wait? And what is my end, that I should endure?
|
Job 6:11 τίς γάρ μου ἡ ἰσχύς ὅτι ὑπομένω ἢ τίς μου ὁ χρόνος ὅτι ἀνέχεταί μου ἡ ψυχή
|
Job 6:12 Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
|
Job 6:12 "Is my strength the strength of stones, Or is my flesh bronze?
|
Job 6:12 μὴ ἰσχὺς λίθων ἡ ἰσχύς μου ἢ αἱ σάρκες μού εἰσιν χάλκειαι
|
Job 6:13 Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?
|
Job 6:13 "Is it that my help is not within me, And that deliverance is driven from me?
|
Job 6:13 ἦ οὐκ ἐπ᾽ αὐτῷ ἐπεποίθειν βοήθεια δὲ ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ ἄπεστιν
|
Job 6:14 To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
|
Job 6:14 "For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend; So that he does not forsake the fear of the Almighty.
|
Job 6:14 ἀπείπατό με ἔλεος ἐπισκοπὴ δὲ κυρίου ὑπερεῖδέν με
|
Job 6:15 My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;
|
Job 6:15 "My brothers have acted deceitfully like a wadi, Like the torrents of wadis which vanish,
|
Job 6:15 οὐ προσεῖδόν με οἱ ἐγγύτατοί μου ὥσπερ χειμάρρους ἐκλείπων ἢ ὥσπερ κῦμα παρῆλθόν με
|
Job 6:16 Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:
|
Job 6:16 Which are turbid because of ice And into which the snow melts.
|
Job 6:16 οἵτινές με διευλαβοῦντο νῦν ἐπιπεπτώκασίν μοι ὥσπερ χιὼν ἢ κρύσταλλος πεπηγώς
|
Job 6:17 What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
|
Job 6:17 "When they become waterless, they are silent, When it is hot, they vanish from their place.
|
Job 6:17 καθὼς τακεῖσα θέρμης γενομένης οὐκ ἐπεγνώσθη ὅπερ ἦν
|
Job 6:18 The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.
|
Job 6:18 "The paths of their course wind along, They go up into nothing and perish.
|
Job 6:18 οὕτως κἀγὼ κατελείφθην ὑπὸ πάντων ἀπωλόμην δὲ καὶ ἔξοικος ἐγενόμην
|
Job 6:19 The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.
|
Job 6:19 "The caravans of Tema looked, The travelers of Sheba hoped for them.
|
Job 6:19 ἴδετε ὁδοὺς Θαιμανων ἀτραποὺς Σαβων οἱ διορῶντες
|
Job 6:20 They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.
|
Job 6:20 "They were disappointed for they had trusted, They came there and were confounded.
|
Job 6:20 καὶ αἰσχύνην ὀφειλήσουσιν οἱ ἐπὶ πόλεσιν καὶ χρήμασιν πεποιθότες
|
Job 6:21 For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
|
Job 6:21 "Indeed, you have now become such, You see a terror and are afraid.
|
Job 6:21 ἀτὰρ δὲ καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐπέβητέ μοι ἀνελεημόνως ὥστε ἰδόντες τὸ ἐμὸν τραῦμα φοβήθητε
|
Job 6:22 Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?
|
Job 6:22 "Have I said, 'Give me something,' Or, 'Offer a bribe for me from your wealth,'
|
Job 6:22 τί γάρ μή τι ὑμᾶς ᾔτησα ἢ τῆς παρ᾽ ὑμῶν ἰσχύος ἐπιδέομαι
|
Job 6:23 Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
|
Job 6:23 Or, 'Deliver me from the hand of the adversary, 'Or, 'Redeem me from the hand of the tyrants'?
|
Job 6:23 ὥστε σῶσαί με ἐξ ἐχθρῶν ἢ ἐκ χειρὸς δυναστῶν ῥύσασθαί με
|
Job 6:24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
|
Job 6:24 "Teach me, and I will be silent; And show me how I have erred.
|
Job 6:24 διδάξατέ με ἐγὼ δὲ κωφεύσω εἴ τι πεπλάνημαι φράσατέ μοι
|
Job 6:25 How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?
|
Job 6:25 "How painful are honest words! But what does your argument prove?
|
Job 6:25 ἀλλ᾽ ὡς ἔοικεν φαῦλα ἀληθινοῦ ῥήματα οὐ γὰρ παρ᾽ ὑμῶν ἰσχὺν αἰτοῦμαι
|
Job 6:26 Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?
|
Job 6:26 "Do you intend to reprove my words, When the words of one in despair belong to the wind?
|
Job 6:26 οὐδὲ ὁ ἔλεγχος ὑμῶν ῥήμασίν με παύσει οὐδὲ γὰρ ὑμῶν φθέγμα ῥήματος ἀνέξομαι
|
Job 6:27 Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.
|
Job 6:27 "You would even cast lots for the orphans And barter over your friend.
|
Job 6:27 πλὴν ὅτι ἐπ᾽ ὀρφανῷ ἐπιπίπτετε ἐνάλλεσθε δὲ ἐπὶ φίλῳ ὑμῶν
|
Job 6:28 Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.
|
Job 6:28 "Now please look at me, And see if I lie to your face.
|
Job 6:28 νυνὶ δὲ εἰσβλέψας εἰς πρόσωπα ὑμῶν οὐ ψεύσομαι
|
Job 6:29 Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.
|
Job 6:29 "Desist now, let there be no injustice; Even desist, my righteousness is yet in it.
|
Job 6:29 καθίσατε δὴ καὶ μὴ εἴη ἄδικον καὶ πάλιν τῷ δικαίῳ συνέρχεσθε
|
Job 6:30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
|
Job 6:30 "Is there injustice on my tongue? Cannot my palate discern calamities?
|
Job 6:30 οὐ γάρ ἐστιν ἐν γλώσσῃ μου ἄδικον ἢ ὁ λάρυγξ μου οὐχὶ σύνεσιν μελετᾷ
|
Job 7:1 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?
|
Job 7:1 "Is not man forced to labor on earth, And are not his days like the days of a hired man?
|
Job 7:1 πότερον οὐχὶ πειρατήριόν ἐστιν ὁ βίος ἀνθρώπου ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ὥσπερ μισθίου αὐθημερινοῦ ἡ ζωὴ αὐτοῦ
|
Job 7:2 As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:
|
Job 7:2 "As a slave who pants for the shade, And as a hired man who eagerly waits for his wages,
|
Job 7:2 ἢ ὥσπερ θεράπων δεδοικὼς τὸν κύριον αὐτοῦ καὶ τετευχὼς σκιᾶς ἢ ὥσπερ μισθωτὸς ἀναμένων τὸν μισθὸν αὐτοῦ
|
Job 7:3 So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.
|
Job 7:3 So am I allotted months of vanity, And nights of trouble are appointed me.
|
Job 7:3 οὕτως κἀγὼ ὑπέμεινα μῆνας κενούς νύκτες δὲ ὀδυνῶν δεδομέναι μοί εἰσιν
|
Job 7:4 When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day.
|
Job 7:4 "When I lie down I say, 'When shall I arise?' But the night continues, And I am continually tossing until dawn.
|
Job 7:4 ἐὰν κοιμηθῶ λέγω πότε ἡμέρα ὡς δ᾽ ἂν ἀναστῶ πάλιν πότε ἑσπέρα πλήρης δὲ γίνομαι ὀδυνῶν ἀπὸ ἑσπέρας ἕως πρωί

Job 7:5 My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome.
|
Job 7:5 "My flesh is clothed with worms and a crust of dirt, My skin hardens and runs.
|
Job 7:5 φύρεται δέ μου τὸ σῶμα ἐν σαπρίᾳ σκωλήκων τήκω δὲ βώλακας γῆς ἀπὸ ἰχῶρος ξύων
|
Job 7:6 My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without hope.
|
Job 7:6 "My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, And come to an end without hope.
|
Job 7:6 ὁ δὲ βίος μού ἐστιν ἐλαφρότερος λαλιᾶς ἀπόλωλεν δὲ ἐν κενῇ ἐλπίδι
|
Job 7:7 O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good.
|
Job 7:7 "Remember that my life is but breath; My eye will not again see good.
|
Job 7:7 μνήσθητι οὖν ὅτι πνεῦμά μου ἡ ζωὴ καὶ οὐκέτι ἐπανελεύσεται ὁ ὀφθαλμός μου ἰδεῖν ἀγαθόν
|
Job 7:8 The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more: thine eyes are upon me, and I am not.

Job 7:9 As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more.

Job 7:10 He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.

Job 7:11 Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

Job 7:12 Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me?

Job 7:12 "Am I the sea, or the sea monster, That You set a guard over me?

Job 7:12 πότερον θάλασσά εἰμι ἢ δράκων ὅτι κατέταξας ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ φυλακήν
|
Job 7:13 When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaints;

Job 7:13 εἶπα ὅτι παρακαλέσει με ἡ κλίνη μου ἀνοίσω δὲ πρὸς ἐμαυτὸν ἰδίᾳ λόγον τῇ κοίτῃ μου

Job 7:14 Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions:

Job 7:14 Then You frighten me with dreams And terrify me by visions;

Job 7:14 ἐκφοβεῖς με ἐνυπνίοις καὶ ἐν ὁράμασίν με καταπλήσσεις
|
Job 7:15 So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life.

Job 7:15 ἀπαλλάξεις ἀπὸ πνεύματός μου τὴν ψυχήν μου ἀπὸ δὲ θανάτου τὰ ὀστᾶ μου

Job 7:16 I loathe it; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity.

Job 7:16 "I waste away; I will not live forever. Leave me alone, for my days are but a breath.

Job 7:17 What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?

Job 7:17 τί γάρ ἐστιν ἄνθρωπος ὅτι ἐμεγάλυνας αὐτὸν ἢ ὅτι προσέχεις τὸν νοῦν εἰς αὐτὸν

Job 7:18 And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

Job 7:19 How long wilt thou not depart from me, nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?

Job 7:19 "Will You never turn Your gaze away from me, Nor let me alone until I swallow my spittle?

Job 7:19 ἕως τίνος οὐκ ἐᾷς με οὐδὲ προΐῃ με ἕως ἂν καταπίω τὸν πτύελόν μου ἐν ὀδύνῃ

Job 7:20 I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?
|
Job 7:20 "Have I sinned? What have I done to You, O watcher of men? Why have You set me as Your target, So that I am a burden to myself?

Job 7:21 And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

Job 7:21 καὶ διὰ τί οὐκ ἐποιήσω τῆς ἀνομίας μου λήθην καὶ καθαρισμὸν τῆς ἁμαρτίας μου νυνὶ δὲ εἰς γῆν ἀπελεύσομαι ὀρθρίζων δὲ οὐκέτι εἰμί

Job 8:1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

Job 8:1 ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Βαλδαδ ὁ Σαυχίτης λέγει

Job 8:2 How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

Job 8:2 "How long will you say these things, And the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?
|
Job 8:2 μέχρι τίνος λαλήσεις ταῦτα πνεῦμα πολυρῆμον τοῦ στόματός σου
|
Job 8:3 Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?
|
Job 8:3 "Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert what is right?
|
Job 8:3 μὴ ὁ κύριος ἀδικήσει κρίνων ἢ ὁ τὰ πάντα ποιήσας ταράξει τὸ δίκαιον
|
Job 8:4 If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;
|
Job 8:4 "If your sons sinned against Him, Then He delivered them into the power of their transgression.
|
Job 8:4 εἰ οἱ υἱοί σου ἥμαρτον ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ἀπέστειλεν ἐν χειρὶ ἀνομίας αὐτῶν
|
Job 8:5 If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
|
Job 8:5 "If you would seek God And implore the compassion of the Almighty,
|
Job 8:5 σὺ δὲ ὄρθριζε πρὸς κύριον παντοκράτορα δεόμενος
|
Job 8:6 If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
|
Job 8:6 If you are pure and upright, Surely now He would rouse Himself for you And restore your righteous estate.
|
Job 8:6 εἰ καθαρὸς εἶ καὶ ἀληθινός δεήσεως ἐπακούσεταί σου ἀποκαταστήσει δέ σοι δίαιταν δικαιοσύνης
|
Job 8:7 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.
|
Job 8:7 "Though your beginning was insignificant, Yet your end will increase greatly.
|
Job 8:7 ἔσται οὖν τὰ μὲν πρῶτά σου ὀλίγα τὰ δὲ ἔσχατά σου ἀμύθητα
|
Job 8:8 For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
|
Job 8:8 "Please inquire of past generations, And consider the things searched out by their fathers.
|
Job 8:8 ἐπερώτησον γὰρ γενεὰν πρώτην ἐξιχνίασον δὲ κατὰ γένος πατέρων
|
Job 8:9 (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)
|
Job 8:9 "For we are only of yesterday and know nothing, Because our days on earth are as a shadow.
|
Job 8:9 χθιζοὶ γάρ ἐσμεν καὶ οὐκ οἴδαμεν σκιὰ γάρ ἐστιν ἡμῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ὁ βίος
|
Job 8:10 Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
|
Job 8:10 "Will they not teach you and tell you, And bring forth words from their minds?
|
Job 8:10 ἦ οὐχ οὗτοί σε διδάξουσιν καὶ ἀναγγελοῦσιν καὶ ἐκ καρδίας ἐξάξουσιν ῥήματα
|
Job 8:11 Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?
|
Job 8:11 "Can the papyrus grow up without a marsh? Can the rushes grow without water?
|
Job 8:11 μὴ θάλλει πάπυρος ἄνευ ὕδατος ἢ ὑψωθήσεται βούτομον ἄνευ πότου
|
Job 8:12 Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.
|
Job 8:12 "While it is still green and not cut down, Yet it withers before any other plant.
|
Job 8:12 ἔτι ὂν ἐπὶ ῥίζης καὶ οὐ μὴ θερισθῇ πρὸ τοῦ πιεῖν πᾶσα βοτάνη οὐχὶ ξηραίνεται
|
Job 8:13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

Job 8:13 οὕτως τοίνυν ἔσται τὰ ἔσχατα πάντων τῶν ἐπιλανθανομένων τοῦ κυρίου ἐλπὶς γὰρ ἀσεβοῦς ἀπολεῖται

Job 8:14 Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.
|
Job 8:14 Whose confidence is fragile, And whose trust a spider's web.

Job 8:14 ἀοίκητος γὰρ αὐτοῦ ἔσται ὁ οἶκος ἀράχνη δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀποβήσεται ἡ σκηνή
|
Job 8:15 He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.
|
Job 8:15 "He trusts in his house, but it does not stand; He holds fast to it, but it does not endure.
|
Job 8:15 ἐὰν ὑπερείσῃ τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ στῇ ἐπιλαβομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ ὑπομείνῃ
|
Job 8:16 He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
|
Job 8:16 "He thrives before the sun, And his shoots spread out over his garden.
|
Job 8:16 ὑγρὸς γάρ ἐστιν ὑπὸ ἡλίου καὶ ἐκ σαπρίας αὐτοῦ ὁ ῥάδαμνος αὐτοῦ ἐξελεύσεται
|
Job 8:17 His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.
|
Job 8:17 "His roots wrap around a rock pile, He grasps a house of stones.
|
Job 8:17 ἐπὶ συναγωγὴν λίθων κοιμᾶται ἐν δὲ μέσῳ χαλίκων ζήσεται
|
Job 8:18 If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.
|
Job 8:18 "If he is removed from his place, Then it will deny him, saying, 'I never saw you.'
|
Job 8:18 ἐὰν καταπίῃ ὁ τόπος ψεύσεται αὐτόν οὐχ ἑόρακας τοιαῦτα
|
Job 8:19 Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
|
Job 8:19 "Behold, this is the joy of His way; And out of the dust others will spring.
|
Job 8:19 ὅτι καταστροφὴ ἀσεβοῦς τοιαύτη ἐκ δὲ γῆς ἄλλον ἀναβλαστήσει
|
Job 8:20 Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:
|
Job 8:20 "Lo, God will not reject a man of integrity, Nor will He support the evildoers.
|
Job 8:20 ὁ γὰρ κύριος οὐ μὴ ἀποποιήσηται τὸν ἄκακον πᾶν δὲ δῶρον ἀσεβοῦς οὐ δέξεται
|
Job 8:21 Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.
|
Job 8:21 "He will yet fill your mouth with laughter And your lips with shouting.
|
Job 8:21 ἀληθινῶν δὲ στόμα ἐμπλήσει γέλωτος τὰ δὲ χείλη αὐτῶν ἐξομολογήσεως
|
Job 8:22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
|
Job 8:22 "Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, And the tent of the wicked will be no longer."
|
Job 8:22 οἱ δὲ ἐχθροὶ αὐτῶν ἐνδύσονται αἰσχύνην δίαιτα δὲ ἀσεβοῦς οὐκ ἔσται
