Job 13:1 Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.

Job 13:1 "Behold, my eye has seen all this, My ear has heard and understood it.
|
Job 13:1 ἰδοὺ ταῦτα ἑώρακέν μου ὁ ὀφθαλμὸς καὶ ἀκήκοέν μου τὸ οὖς
|
Job 13:2 What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.
|
Job 13:2 "What you know I also know; I am not inferior to you.
|
Job 13:2 καὶ οἶδα ὅσα καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐπίστασθε καὶ οὐκ ἀσυνετώτερός εἰμι ὑμῶν
|
Job 13:3 Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
|
Job 13:3 "But I would speak to the Almighty, And I desire to argue with God.
|
Job 13:3 οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλ᾽ ἐγὼ πρὸς κύριον λαλήσω ἐλέγξω δὲ ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ἐὰν βούληται
|
Job 13:4 But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.
|
Job 13:4 "But you smear with lies; You are all worthless physicians.
|
Job 13:4 ὑμεῖς δέ ἐστε ἰατροὶ ἄδικοι καὶ ἰαταὶ κακῶν πάντες
|
Job 13:5 O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.
|
Job 13:5 "O that you would be completely silent, And that it would become your wisdom!
|
Job 13:5 εἴη δὲ ὑμῖν κωφεῦσαι καὶ ἀποβήσεται ὑμῖν εἰς σοφίαν
|
Job 13:6 Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.
|
Job 13:6 "Please hear my argument And listen to the contentions of my lips.
|
Job 13:6 ἀκούσατε ἔλεγχον στόματός μου κρίσιν δὲ χειλέων μου προσέχετε
|
Job 13:7 Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?
|
Job 13:7 "Will you speak what is unjust for God, And speak what is deceitful for Him?
|
Job 13:7 πότερον οὐκ ἔναντι κυρίου λαλεῖτε ἔναντι δὲ αὐτοῦ φθέγγεσθε δόλον
|
Job 13:8 Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?
|
Job 13:8 "Will you show partiality for Him? Will you contend for God?
|
Job 13:8 ἦ ὑποστελεῖσθε ὑμεῖς δὲ αὐτοὶ κριταὶ γένεσθε
|
Job 13:9 Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?
|
Job 13:9 "Will it be well when He examines you? Or will you deceive Him as one deceives a man?
|
Job 13:9 καλόν γε ἐὰν ἐξιχνιάσῃ ὑμᾶς εἰ γὰρ τὰ πάντα ποιοῦντες προστεθήσεσθε αὐτῷ
|
Job 13:10 He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.
|
Job 13:10 "He will surely reprove you If you secretly show partiality.
|
Job 13:10 οὐθὲν ἧττον ἐλέγξει ὑμᾶς εἰ δὲ καὶ κρυφῇ πρόσωπα θαυμάσετε
|
Job 13:11 Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?
|
Job 13:11 "Will not His majesty terrify you, And the dread of Him fall on you?
|
Job 13:11 πότερον οὐχὶ δεινὰ αὐτοῦ στροβήσει ὑμᾶς φόβος δὲ παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἐπιπεσεῖται ὑμῖν
|
Job 13:12 Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.
|
Job 13:12 "Your memorable sayings are proverbs of ashes, Your defenses are defenses of clay.
|
Job 13:12 ἀποβήσεται δὲ ὑμῶν τὸ ἀγαυρίαμα ἴσα σποδῷ τὸ δὲ σῶμα πήλινον
|
Job 13:13 Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.
|
Job 13:13 "Be silent before me so that I may speak; Then let come on me what may.
|
Job 13:13 κωφεύσατε ἵνα λαλήσω καὶ ἀναπαύσωμαι θυμοῦ
|
Job 13:14 Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?
|
Job 13:14 "Why should I take my flesh in my teeth And put my life in my hands?
|
Job 13:14 ἀναλαβὼν τὰς σάρκας μου τοῖς ὀδοῦσιν ψυχὴν δέ μου θήσω ἐν χειρί
|
Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
|
Job 13:15 "Though He slay me, I will hope in Him. Nevertheless I will argue my ways before Him.
|
Job 13:15 ἐάν με χειρώσηται ὁ δυνάστης ἐπεὶ καὶ ἦρκται ἦ μὴν λαλήσω καὶ ἐλέγξω ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ
|
Job 13:16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
|
Job 13:16 "This also will be my salvation, For a godless man may not come before His presence.
|
Job 13:16 καὶ τοῦτό μοι ἀποβήσεται εἰς σωτηρίαν οὐ γὰρ ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ δόλος εἰσελεύσεται
|
Job 13:17 Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.
|
Job 13:17 "Listen carefully to my speech, And let my declaration fill your ears.
|
Job 13:17 ἀκούσατε ἀκούσατε τὰ ῥήματά μου ἀναγγελῶ γὰρ ὑμῶν ἀκουόντων
|
Job 13:18 Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.
|
Job 13:18 "Behold now, I have prepared my case; I know that I will be vindicated.
|
Job 13:18 ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐγγύς εἰμι τοῦ κρίματός μου οἶδα ἐγὼ ὅτι δίκαιος ἀναφανοῦμαι
|
Job 13:19 Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.
|
Job 13:19 "Who will contend with me? For then I would be silent and die.
|
Job 13:19 τίς γάρ ἐστιν ὁ κριθησόμενός μοι ὅτι νῦν κωφεύσω καὶ ἐκλείψω
|
Job 13:20 Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.
|
Job 13:20 "Only two things do not do to me, Then I will not hide from Your face:
|
Job 13:20 δυεῖν δέ μοι χρήσῃ τότε ἀπὸ τοῦ προσώπου σου οὐ κρυβήσομαι
|
Job 13:21 Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.
|
Job 13:21 Remove Your hand from me, And let not the dread of You terrify me.
|
Job 13:21 τὴν χεῖρα ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ ἀπέχου καὶ ὁ φόβος σου μή με καταπλησσέτω
|
Job 13:22 Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
|
Job 13:22 "Then call, and I will answer; Or let me speak, then reply to me.
|
Job 13:22 εἶτα καλέσεις ἐγὼ δέ σοι ὑπακούσομαι ἢ λαλήσεις ἐγὼ δέ σοι δώσω ἀνταπόκρισιν
|
Job 13:23 How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.
|
Job 13:23 "How many are my iniquities and sins? Make known to me my rebellion and my sin.
|
Job 13:23 πόσαι εἰσὶν αἱ ἁμαρτίαι μου καὶ αἱ ἀνομίαι μου δίδαξόν με τίνες εἰσίν
|
Job 13:24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?
|
Job 13:24 "Why do You hide Your face And consider me Your enemy?
|
Job 13:24 διὰ τί ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ κρύπτῃ ἥγησαι δέ με ὑπεναντίον σοι
|
Job 13:25 Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?
|
Job 13:25 "Will You cause a driven leaf to tremble? Or will You pursue the dry chaff?
|
Job 13:25 ἦ ὡς φύλλον κινούμενον ὑπὸ ἀνέμου εὐλαβηθήσῃ ἢ ὡς χόρτῳ φερομένῳ ὑπὸ πνεύματος ἀντίκεισαί μοι
|
Job 13:26 For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.
|
Job 13:26 "For You write bitter things against me And make me to inherit the iniquities of my youth.
|
Job 13:26 ὅτι κατέγραψας κατ᾽ ἐμοῦ κακά περιέθηκας δέ μοι νεότητος ἁμαρτίας
|
Job 13:27 Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.
|
Job 13:27 "You put my feet in the stocks And watch all my paths; You set a limit for the soles of my feet,
|
Job 13:27 ἔθου δέ μου τὸν πόδα ἐν κωλύματι ἐφύλαξας δέ μου πάντα τὰ ἔργα εἰς δὲ ῥίζας τῶν ποδῶν μου ἀφίκου
|
Job 13:28 And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
|
Job 13:28 While I am decaying like a rotten thing, Like a garment that is moth-eaten.
|
Job 13:28 ὃ παλαιοῦται ἴσα ἀσκῷ ἢ ὥσπερ ἱμάτιον σητόβρωτον
|
Job 14:1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.
|
Job 14:1 "Man, who is born of woman, Is short-lived and full of turmoil.
|
Job 14:1 βροτὸς γὰρ γεννητὸς γυναικὸς ὀλιγόβιος καὶ πλήρης ὀργῆς
|
Job 14:2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
|
Job 14:2 "Like a flower he comes forth and withers. He also flees like a shadow and does not remain.
|
Job 14:2 ἢ ὥσπερ ἄνθος ἀνθῆσαν ἐξέπεσεν ἀπέδρα δὲ ὥσπερ σκιὰ καὶ οὐ μὴ στῇ
|
Job 14:3 And doth thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
|
Job 14:3 "You also open Your eyes on him And bring him into judgment with Yourself.
|
Job 14:3 οὐχὶ καὶ τούτου λόγον ἐποιήσω καὶ τοῦτον ἐποίησας εἰσελθεῖν ἐν κρίματι ἐνώπιόν σου
|
Job 14:4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
|
Job 14:4 "Who can make the clean out of the unclean? No one!
|
Job 14:4 τίς γὰρ καθαρὸς ἔσται ἀπὸ ῥύπου ἀλλ᾽ οὐθείς
|
Job 14:5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
|
Job 14:5 "Since his days are determined, The number of his months is with You; And his limits You have set so that he cannot pass.
|
Job 14:5 ἐὰν καὶ μία ἡμέρα ὁ βίος αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἀριθμητοὶ δὲ μῆνες αὐτοῦ παρὰ σοί εἰς χρόνον ἔθου καὶ οὐ μὴ ὑπερβῇ
|
Job 14:6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
|
Job 14:6 "Turn Your gaze from him that he may rest, Until he fulfills his day like a hired man.
|
Job 14:6 ἀπόστα ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἵνα ἡσυχάσῃ καὶ εὐδοκήσῃ τὸν βίον ὥσπερ ὁ μισθωτός
|
Job 14:7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
|
Job 14:7 "For there is hope for a tree, When it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And its shoots will not fail.
|
Job 14:7 ἔστιν γὰρ δένδρῳ ἐλπίς ἐὰν γὰρ ἐκκοπῇ ἔτι ἐπανθήσει καὶ ὁ ῥάδαμνος αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ ἐκλίπῃ
|
Job 14:8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
|
Job 14:8 "Though its roots grow old in the ground And its stump dies in the dry soil,
|
Job 14:8 ἐὰν γὰρ γηράσῃ ἐν γῇ ἡ ῥίζα αὐτοῦ ἐν δὲ πέτρᾳ τελευτήσῃ τὸ στέλεχος αὐτοῦ
|
Job 14:9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
|
Job 14:9 At the scent of water it will flourish And put forth sprigs like a plant.
|
Job 14:9 ἀπὸ ὀσμῆς ὕδατος ἀνθήσει ποιήσει δὲ θερισμὸν ὥσπερ νεόφυτον
|
Job 14:10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
|
Job 14:10 "But man dies and lies prostrate. Man expires, and where is he?
|
Job 14:10 ἀνὴρ δὲ τελευτήσας ᾤχετο πεσὼν δὲ βροτὸς οὐκέτι ἔστιν
|
Job 14:11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
|
Job 14:11 "As water evaporates from the sea, And a river becomes parched and dried up,
|
Job 14:11 χρόνῳ γὰρ σπανίζεται θάλασσα ποταμὸς δὲ ἐρημωθεὶς ἐξηράνθη
|
Job 14:12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
|
Job 14:12 So man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens are no longer, He will not awake nor be aroused out of his sleep.
|
Job 14:12 ἄνθρωπος δὲ κοιμηθεὶς οὐ μὴ ἀναστῇ ἕως ἂν ὁ οὐρανὸς οὐ μὴ συρραφῇ καὶ οὐκ ἐξυπνισθήσονται ἐξ ὕπνου αὐτῶν
|
Job 14:13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
|
Job 14:13 "Oh that You would hide me in Sheol, That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You, That You would set a limit for me and remember me!
|
Job 14:13 εἰ γὰρ ὄφελον ἐν ᾅδῃ με ἐφύλαξας ἔκρυψας δέ με ἕως ἂν παύσηταί σου ἡ ὀργὴ καὶ τάξῃ μοι χρόνον ἐν ᾧ μνείαν μου ποιήσῃ
|
Job 14:14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
|
Job 14:14 "If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my struggle I will wait Until my change comes.
|
Job 14:14 ἐὰν γὰρ ἀποθάνῃ ἄνθρωπος ζήσεται συντελέσας ἡμέρας τοῦ βίου αὐτοῦ ὑπομενῶ ἕως ἂν πάλιν γένωμαι
|
Job 14:15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
|
Job 14:15 "You will call, and I will answer You; You will long for the work of Your hands.
|
Job 14:15 εἶτα καλέσεις ἐγὼ δέ σοι ὑπακούσομαι τὰ δὲ ἔργα τῶν χειρῶν σου μὴ ἀποποιοῦ
|
Job 14:16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
|
Job 14:16 "For now You number my steps, You do not observe my sin.
|
Job 14:16 ἠρίθμησας δέ μου τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα καὶ οὐ μὴ παρέλθῃ σε οὐδὲν τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν μου
|
Job 14:17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
|
Job 14:17 "My transgression is sealed up in a bag, And You wrap up my iniquity.
|
Job 14:17 ἐσφράγισας δέ μου τὰς ἀνομίας ἐν βαλλαντίῳ ἐπεσημήνω δέ εἴ τι ἄκων παρέβην
|
Job 14:18 And surely the mountains falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
|
Job 14:18 "But the falling mountain crumbles away, And the rock moves from its place;
|
Job 14:18 καὶ πλὴν ὄρος πῖπτον διαπεσεῖται καὶ πέτρα παλαιωθήσεται ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτῆς
|
Job 14:19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
|
Job 14:19 Water wears away stones, Its torrents wash away the dust of the earth; So You destroy man's hope.
|
Job 14:19 λίθους ἐλέαναν ὕδατα καὶ κατέκλυσεν ὕδατα ὕπτια τοῦ χώματος τῆς γῆς καὶ ὑπομονὴν ἀνθρώπου ἀπώλεσας
|
Job 14:20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
|
Job 14:20 "You forever overpower him and he departs; You change his appearance and send him away.
|
Job 14:20 ὦσας αὐτὸν εἰς τέλος καὶ ᾤχετο ἐπέστησας αὐτῷ τὸ πρόσωπον καὶ ἐξαπέστειλας
|
Job 14:21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
|
Job 14:21 "His sons achieve honor, but he does not know it; Or they become insignificant, but he does not perceive it.
|
Job 14:21 πολλῶν δὲ γενομένων τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ οὐκ οἶδεν ἐὰν δὲ ὀλίγοι γένωνται οὐκ ἐπίσταται
|
Job 14:22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
|
Job 14:22 "But his body pains him, And he mourns only for himself."
|
Job 14:22 ἀλλ᾽ ἢ αἱ σάρκες αὐτοῦ ἤλγησαν ἡ δὲ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ ἐπένθησεν
|
Job 15:1 Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
|
Job 15:1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite responded,
|
Job 15:1 ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ελιφας ὁ Θαιμανίτης λέγει
|
Job 15:2 Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
|
Job 15:2 "Should a wise man answer with windy knowledge And fill himself with the east wind?
|
Job 15:2 πότερον σοφὸς ἀπόκρισιν δώσει συνέσεως πνεύματος καὶ ἐνέπλησεν πόνον γαστρὸς
|
Job 15:3 Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
|
Job 15:3 "Should he argue with useless talk, Or with words which are not profitable?
|
Job 15:3 ἐλέγχων ἐν ῥήμασιν οἷς οὐ δεῖ ἐν λόγοις οἷς οὐδὲν ὄφελος
|
Job 15:4 Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
|
Job 15:4 "Indeed, you do away with reverence And hinder meditation before God.
|
Job 15:4 οὐ καὶ σὺ ἀπεποιήσω φόβον συνετελέσω δὲ ῥήματα τοιαῦτα ἔναντι τοῦ κυρίου
|
Job 15:5 For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
|
Job 15:5 "For your guilt teaches your mouth, And you choose the language of the crafty.
|
Job 15:5 ἔνοχος εἶ ῥήμασιν στόματός σου οὐδὲ διέκρινας ῥήματα δυναστῶν
|
Job 15:6 Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
|
Job 15:6 "Your own mouth condemns you, and not I; And your own lips testify against you.
|
Job 15:6 ἐλέγξαι σε τὸ σὸν στόμα καὶ μὴ ἐγώ τὰ δὲ χείλη σου καταμαρτυρήσουσίν σου
|
Job 15:7 Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
|
Job 15:7 "Were you the first man to be born, Or were you brought forth before the hills?
|
Job 15:7 τί γάρ μὴ πρῶτος ἀνθρώπων ἐγενήθης ἢ πρὸ θινῶν ἐπάγης
|
Job 15:8 Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
|
Job 15:8 "Do you hear the secret counsel of God, And limit wisdom to yourself?
|
Job 15:8 ἦ σύνταγμα κυρίου ἀκήκοας εἰς δὲ σὲ ἀφίκετο σοφία
|
Job 15:9 What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
|
Job 15:9 "What do you know that we do not know? What do you understand that we do not?
|
Job 15:9 τί γὰρ οἶδας ὃ οὐκ οἴδαμεν ἢ τί συνίεις ὃ οὐχὶ καὶ ἡμεῖς
|
Job 15:10 With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
|
Job 15:10 "Both the gray-haired and the aged are among us, Older than your father.
|
Job 15:10 καί γε πρεσβύτης καί γε παλαιὸς ἐν ἡμῖν βαρύτερος τοῦ πατρός σου ἡμέραις
|
Job 15:11 Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
|
Job 15:11 "Are the consolations of God too small for you, Even the word spoken gently with you?
|
Job 15:11 ὀλίγα ὧν ἡμάρτηκας μεμαστίγωσαι μεγάλως ὑπερβαλλόντως λελάληκας
|
Job 15:12 Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
|
Job 15:12 "Why does your heart carry you away? And why do your eyes flash,
|
Job 15:12 τί ἐτόλμησεν ἡ καρδία σου ἢ τί ἐπήνεγκαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου
|
Job 15:13 That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?
|
Job 15:13 That you should turn your spirit against God And allow such words to go out of your mouth?
|
Job 15:13 ὅτι θυμὸν ἔρρηξας ἔναντι κυρίου ἐξήγαγες δὲ ἐκ στόματος ῥήματα τοιαῦτα
|
Job 15:14 What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
|
Job 15:14 "What is man, that he should be pure, Or he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
|
Job 15:14 τίς γὰρ ὢν βροτός ὅτι ἔσται ἄμεμπτος ἢ ὡς ἐσόμενος δίκαιος γεννητὸς γυναικός
|
Job 15:15 Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
|
Job 15:15 "Behold, He puts no trust in His holy ones, And the heavens are not pure in His sight;
|
Job 15:15 εἰ κατὰ ἁγίων οὐ πιστεύει οὐρανὸς δὲ οὐ καθαρὸς ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ
|
Job 15:16 How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
|
Job 15:16 How much less one who is detestable and corrupt, Man, who drinks iniquity like water!
|
Job 15:16 ἔα δὲ ἐβδελυγμένος καὶ ἀκάθαρτος ἀνὴρ πίνων ἀδικίας ἴσα ποτῷ
|
Job 15:17 I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
|
Job 15:17 "I will tell you, listen to me; And what I have seen I will also declare;
|
Job 15:17 ἀναγγελῶ δέ σοι ἄκουέ μου ἃ δὴ ἑώρακα ἀναγγελῶ σοι
|
Job 15:18 Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:
|
Job 15:18 What wise men have told, And have not concealed from their fathers,
|
Job 15:18 ἃ σοφοὶ ἐροῦσιν καὶ οὐκ ἔκρυψαν πατέρας αὐτῶν

Job 15:19 Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.

Job 15:19 αὐτοῖς μόνοις ἐδόθη ἡ γῆ καὶ οὐκ ἐπῆλθεν ἀλλογενὴς ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς

Job 15:20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.

Job 15:20 "The wicked man writhes in pain all his days, And numbered are the years stored up for the ruthless.

Job 15:20 πᾶς ὁ βίος ἀσεβοῦς ἐν φροντίδι ἔτη δὲ ἀριθμητὰ δεδομένα δυνάστῃ
|
Job 15:21 A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
|
Job 15:21 "Sounds of terror are in his ears; While at peace the destroyer comes upon him.
|
Job 15:21 ὁ δὲ φόβος αὐτοῦ ἐν ὠσὶν αὐτοῦ ὅταν δοκῇ ἤδη εἰρηνεύειν ἥξει αὐτοῦ ἡ καταστροφή
|
Job 15:22 He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
|
Job 15:22 "He does not believe that he will return from darkness, And he is destined for the sword.
|
Job 15:22 μὴ πιστευέτω ἀποστραφῆναι ἀπὸ σκότους ἐντέταλται γὰρ ἤδη εἰς χεῖρας σιδήρου
|
Job 15:23 He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
|
Job 15:23 "He wanders about for food, saying, 'Where is it?' He knows that a day of darkness is at hand.
|
Job 15:23 κατατέτακται δὲ εἰς σῖτα γυψίν οἶδεν δὲ ἐν ἑαυτῷ ὅτι μένει εἰς πτῶμα ἡμέρα δὲ αὐτὸν σκοτεινὴ στροβήσει
|
Job 15:24 Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
|
Job 15:24 "Distress and anguish terrify him, They overpower him like a king ready for the attack,
|
Job 15:24 ἀνάγκη δὲ καὶ θλῖψις αὐτὸν καθέξει ὥσπερ στρατηγὸς πρωτοστάτης πίπτων
|
Job 15:25 For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
|
Job 15:25 Because he has stretched out his hand against God And conducts himself arrogantly against the Almighty.
|
Job 15:25 ὅτι ἦρκεν χεῖρας ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου ἔναντι δὲ κυρίου παντοκράτορος ἐτραχηλίασεν
|
Job 15:26 He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
|
Job 15:26 "He rushes headlong at Him With his massive shield.
|
Job 15:26 ἔδραμεν δὲ ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ὕβρει ἐν πάχει νώτου ἀσπίδος αὐτοῦ
|
Job 15:27 Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
|
Job 15:27 "For he has covered his face with his fat And made his thighs heavy with flesh.
|
Job 15:27 ὅτι ἐκάλυψεν τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐν στέατι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐποίησεν περιστόμιον ἐπὶ τῶν μηρίων
|
Job 15:28 And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
|
Job 15:28 "He has lived in desolate cities, In houses no one would inhabit, Which are destined to become ruins.
|
Job 15:28 αὐλισθείη δὲ πόλεις ἐρήμους εἰσέλθοι δὲ εἰς οἴκους ἀοικήτους ἃ δὲ ἐκεῖνοι ἡτοίμασαν ἄλλοι ἀποίσονται
|
Job 15:29 He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
|
Job 15:29 "He will not become rich, nor will his wealth endure; And his grain will not bend down to the ground.
|
Job 15:29 οὔτε μὴ πλουτισθῇ οὔτε μὴ μείνῃ αὐτοῦ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα οὐ μὴ βάλῃ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν σκιὰν
|
Job 15:30 He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
|
Job 15:30 "He will not escape from darkness; The flame will wither his shoots, And by the breath of His mouth he will go away.
|
Job 15:30 οὐδὲ μὴ ἐκφύγῃ τὸ σκότος τὸν βλαστὸν αὐτοῦ μαράναι ἄνεμος ἐκπέσοι δὲ αὐτοῦ τὸ ἄνθος
|
Job 15:31 Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
|
Job 15:31 "Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself; For emptiness will be his reward.
|
Job 15:31 μὴ πιστευέτω ὅτι ὑπομενεῖ κενὰ γὰρ ἀποβήσεται αὐτῷ
|
Job 15:32 It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
|
Job 15:32 "It will be accomplished before his time, And his palm branch will not be green.
|
Job 15:32 ἡ τομὴ αὐτοῦ πρὸ ὥρας φθαρήσεται καὶ ὁ ῥάδαμνος αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ πυκάσῃ
|
Job 15:33 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.
|
Job 15:33 "He will drop off his unripe grape like the vine, And will cast off his flower like the olive tree.
|
Job 15:33 τρυγηθείη δὲ ὥσπερ ὄμφαξ πρὸ ὥρας ἐκπέσοι δὲ ὡς ἄνθος ἐλαίας
|
Job 15:34 For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
|
Job 15:34 "For the company of the godless is barren, And fire consumes the tents of the corrupt.
|
Job 15:34 μαρτύριον γὰρ ἀσεβοῦς θάνατος πῦρ δὲ καύσει οἴκους δωροδεκτῶν
|
Job 15:35 They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
|
Job 15:35 "They conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity, And their mind prepares deception."
|
Job 15:35 ἐν γαστρὶ δὲ λήμψεται ὀδύνας ἀποβήσεται δὲ αὐτῷ κενά ἡ δὲ κοιλία αὐτοῦ ὑποίσει δόλον

Job 16:1 Then Job answered and said,

Job 16:2 I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.
|
Job 16:2 "I have heard many such things; Sorry comforters are you all.

Job 16:2 ἀκήκοα τοιαῦτα πολλά παρακλήτορες κακῶν πάντες
|
Job 16:3 Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?
|
Job 16:3 "Is there no limit to windy words? Or what plagues you that you answer?
|
Job 16:3 τί γάρ μὴ τάξις ἐστὶν ῥήμασιν πνεύματος ἢ τί παρενοχλήσει σοι ὅτι ἀποκρίνῃ
|
Job 16:4 I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.
|
Job 16:4 "I too could speak like you, If I were in your place. I could compose words against you And shake my head at you.
|
Job 16:4 κἀγὼ καθ᾽ ὑμᾶς λαλήσω εἰ ὑπέκειτό γε ἡ ψυχὴ ὑμῶν ἀντὶ τῆς ἐμῆς εἶτ᾽ ἐναλοῦμαι ὑμῖν ῥήμασιν κινήσω δὲ καθ᾽ ὑμῶν κεφαλήν
|
Job 16:5 But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.
|
Job 16:5 "I could strengthen you with my mouth, And the solace of my lips could lessen your pain.
|
Job 16:5 εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι
|
Job 16:6 Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?
|
Job 16:6 "If I speak, my pain is not lessened, And if I hold back, what has left me?
|
Job 16:6 ἐὰν γὰρ λαλήσω οὐκ ἀλγήσω τὸ τραῦμα ἐὰν δὲ καὶ σιωπήσω τί ἔλαττον τρωθήσομαι
|
Job 16:7 But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.
|
Job 16:7 "But now He has exhausted me; You have laid waste all my company.
|
Job 16:7 νῦν δὲ κατάκοπόν με πεποίηκεν μωρόν σεσηπότα
|
Job 16:8 And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.
|
Job 16:8 "You have shriveled me up, It has become a witness; And my leanness rises up against me, It testifies to my face.
|
Job 16:8 καὶ ἐπελάβου μου εἰς μαρτύριον ἐγενήθη καὶ ἀνέστη ἐν ἐμοὶ τὸ ψεῦδός μου κατὰ πρόσωπόν μου ἀνταπεκρίθη
|
Job 16:9 He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
|
Job 16:9 "His anger has torn me and hunted me down, He has gnashed at me with His teeth; My adversary glares at me.
|
Job 16:9 ὀργῇ χρησάμενος κατέβαλέν με ἔβρυξεν ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ τοὺς ὀδόντας βέλη πειρατῶν αὐτοῦ ἐπ᾽ ἐμοὶ ἔπεσεν
|
Job 16:10 They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.
|
Job 16:10 "They have gaped at me with their mouth, They have slapped me on the cheek with contempt; They have massed themselves against me.
|
Job 16:10 ἀκίσιν ὀφθαλμῶν ἐνήλατο ὀξεῖ ἔπαισέν με εἰς σιαγόνα ὁμοθυμαδὸν δὲ κατέδραμον ἐπ᾽ ἐμοί
|
Job 16:11 God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.
|
Job 16:11 "God hands me over to ruffians And tosses me into the hands of the wicked.
|
Job 16:11 παρέδωκεν γάρ με ὁ κύριος εἰς χεῖρας ἀδίκου ἐπὶ δὲ ἀσεβέσιν ἔρριψέν με
|
Job 16:12 I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.
|
Job 16:12 "I was at ease, but He shattered me, And He has grasped me by the neck and shaken me to pieces; He has also set me up as His target.
|
Job 16:12 εἰρηνεύοντα διεσκέδασέν με λαβών με τῆς κόμης διέτιλεν κατέστησέν με ὥσπερ σκοπόν
|
Job 16:13 His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.
|
Job 16:13 "His arrows surround me. Without mercy He splits my kidneys open; He pours out my gall on the ground.
|
Job 16:13 ἐκύκλωσάν με λόγχαις βάλλοντες εἰς νεφρούς μου οὐ φειδόμενοι ἐξέχεαν εἰς τὴν γῆν τὴν χολήν μου
|
Job 16:14 He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.
|
Job 16:14 "He breaks through me with breach after breach; He runs at me like a warrior.
|
Job 16:14 κατέβαλόν με πτῶμα ἐπὶ πτώματι ἔδραμον πρός με δυνάμενοι
|
Job 16:15 I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.
|
Job 16:15 "I have sewed sackcloth over my skin And thrust my horn in the dust.
|
Job 16:15 σάκκον ἔρραψα ἐπὶ βύρσης μου τὸ δὲ σθένος μου ἐν γῇ ἐσβέσθη
|
Job 16:16 My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;
|
Job 16:16 "My face is flushed from weeping, And deep darkness is on my eyelids,
|
Job 16:16 ἡ γαστήρ μου συγκέκαυται ἀπὸ κλαυθμοῦ ἐπὶ δὲ βλεφάροις μου σκιά
|
Job 16:17 Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.
|
Job 16:17 Although there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure.
|
Job 16:17 ἄδικον δὲ οὐδὲν ἦν ἐν χερσίν μου εὐχὴ δέ μου καθαρά
|
Job 16:18 O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.
|
Job 16:18 "O earth, do not cover my blood, And let there be no resting place for my cry.
|
Job 16:18 γῆ μὴ ἐπικαλύψῃς ἐφ᾽ αἵματι τῆς σαρκός μου μηδὲ εἴη τόπος τῇ κραυγῇ μου
|
Job 16:19 Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.
|
Job 16:19 "Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, And my advocate is on high.
|
Job 16:19 καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ ἐν οὐρανοῖς ὁ μάρτυς μου ὁ δὲ συνίστωρ μου ἐν ὑψίστοις
|
Job 16:20 My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.
|
Job 16:20 "My friends are my scoffers; My eye weeps to God.
|
Job 16:20 ἀφίκοιτό μου ἡ δέησις πρὸς κύριον ἔναντι δὲ αὐτοῦ στάζοι μου ὁ ὀφθαλμός
|
Job 16:21 O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!
|
Job 16:21 "O that a man might plead with God As a man with his neighbor!
|
Job 16:21 εἴη δὲ ἔλεγχος ἀνδρὶ ἔναντι κυρίου καὶ υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου τῷ πλησίον αὐτοῦ

Job 16:22 When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.
|
Job 16:22 "For when a few years are past, I shall go the way of no return.
|
Job 16:22 ἔτη δὲ ἀριθμητὰ ἥκασιν ὁδῷ δέ ᾗ οὐκ ἐπαναστραφήσομαι πορεύσομαι
