Day - 202 - Isaiah - 25-28
Isa 25:1 O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. Isa 25:1 O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name; For You have worked wonders, Plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness. Isa 25:1 κύριε ὁ θεός μου δοξάσω σε ὑμνήσω τὸ ὄνομά σου ὅτι ἐποίησας θαυμαστὰ πράγματα βουλὴν ἀρχαίαν ἀληθινήν γένοιτο κύριε
Isa 25:2 For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built. Isa 25:2 For You have made a city into a heap, A fortified city into a ruin; A palace of strangers is a city no more, It will never be rebuilt. Isa 25:2 ὅτι ἔθηκας πόλεις εἰς χῶμα πόλεις ὀχυρὰς τοῦ πεσεῖν αὐτῶν τὰ θεμέλια τῶν ἀσεβῶν πόλις εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα οὐ μὴ οἰκοδομηθῇ
Isa 25:3 Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee. Isa 25:3 Therefore a strong people will glorify You; Cities of ruthless nations will revere You. Isa 25:3 διὰ τοῦτο εὐλογήσει σε ὁ λαὸς ὁ πτωχός καὶ πόλεις ἀνθρώπων ἀδικουμένων εὐλογήσουσίν σε
Isa 25:4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. Isa 25:4 For You have been a defense for the helpless, A defense for the needy in his distress, A refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; For the breath of the ruthless Is like a rain storm against a wall. Isa 25:4 ἐγένου γὰρ πάσῃ πόλει ταπεινῇ βοηθὸς καὶ τοῖς ἀθυμήσασιν διὰ ἔνδειαν σκέπη ἀπὸ ἀνθρώπων πονηρῶν ῥύσῃ αὐτούς σκέπη διψώντων καὶ πνεῦμα ἀνθρώπων ἀδικουμένων
Isa 25:5 Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low. Isa 25:5 Like heat in drought, You subdue the uproar of aliens; Like heat by the shadow of a cloud, the song of the ruthless is silenced. Isa 25:5 εὐλογήσουσίν σε ὡς ἄνθρωποι ὀλιγόψυχοι διψῶντες ἐν Σιων ἀπὸ ἀνθρώπων ἀσεβῶν οἷς ἡμᾶς παρέδωκας
Isa 25:6 And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. Isa 25:6 The Lord of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain; A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow, And refined, aged wine. Isa 25:6 καὶ ποιήσει κύριος σαβαωθ πᾶσι τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος τοῦτο πίονται εὐφροσύνην πίονται οἶνον χρίσονται μύρον
Isa 25:7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. Isa 25:7 And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering which is over all peoples, Even the veil which is stretched over all nations. Isa 25:7 ἐν τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ παράδος ταῦτα πάντα τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἡ γὰρ βουλὴ αὕτη ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη
Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken. Isa 25:8 κατέπιεν ὁ θάνατος ἰσχύσας καὶ πάλιν ἀφεῖλεν ὁ θεὸς πᾶν δάκρυον ἀπὸ παντὸς προσώπου τὸ ὄνειδος τοῦ λαοῦ ἀφεῖλεν ἀπὸ πάσης τῆς γῆς τὸ γὰρ στόμα κυρίου ἐλάλησεν
Isa 25:9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Isa 25:9 And it will be said in that day, "Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation." Isa 25:9 καὶ ἐροῦσιν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἰδοὺ ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ἐφ᾽ ᾧ ἠλπίζομεν καὶ ἠγαλλιώμεθα καὶ εὐφρανθησόμεθα ἐπὶ τῇ σωτηρίᾳ ἡμῶν
Isa 25:10 For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill. Isa 25:10 For the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain, And Moab will be trodden down in his place As straw is trodden down in the water of a manure pile. Isa 25:10 ὅτι ἀνάπαυσιν δώσει ὁ θεὸς ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος τοῦτο καὶ καταπατηθήσεται ἡ Μωαβῖτις ὃν τρόπον πατοῦσιν ἅλωνα ἐν ἁμάξαις
Isa 25:11 And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands. Isa 25:11 And he will spread out his hands in the middle of it As a swimmer spreads out his hands to swim, But the Lord will lay low his pride together with the trickery of his hands. Isa 25:11 καὶ ἀνήσει τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ ὃν τρόπον καὶ αὐτὸς ἐταπείνωσεν τοῦ ἀπολέσαι καὶ ταπεινώσει τὴν ὕβριν αὐτοῦ ἐφ᾽ ἃ τὰς χεῖρας ἐπέβαλεν
Isa 25:12 And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls shall he bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust. Isa 25:12 The unassailable fortifications of your walls He will bring down, Lay low and cast to the ground, even to the dust. Isa 25:12 καὶ τὸ ὕψος τῆς καταφυγῆς τοῦ τοίχου σου ταπεινώσει καὶ καταβήσεται ἕως τοῦ ἐδάφους
Isa 26:1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. Isa 26:1 In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: "We have a strong city; He sets up walls and ramparts for security. Isa 26:1 τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ᾄσονται τὸ ᾆσμα τοῦτο ἐπὶ γῆς Ιουδα λέγοντες ἰδοὺ πόλις ὀχυρά καὶ σωτήριον ἡμῶν θήσει τεῖχος καὶ περίτειχος
Isa 26:2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Isa 26:2 "Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter, The one that remains faithful. Isa 26:2 ἀνοίξατε πύλας εἰσελθάτω λαὸς φυλάσσων δικαιοσύνην καὶ φυλάσσων ἀλήθειαν
Isa 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isa 26:3 "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You. Isa 26:3 ἀντιλαμβανόμενος ἀληθείας καὶ φυλάσσων εἰρήνην ὅτι ἐπὶ σοὶ
Isa 26 4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength Isa 26:4 "Trust in the Lord forever, For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock. Isa 26:4 ἤλπισαν κύριε ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος ὁ θεὸς ὁ μέγας ὁ αἰώνιος
Isa 26:5 For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust. Isa 26:5 "For He has brought low those who dwell on high, the unassailable city; He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He casts it to the dust. Isa 26:5 ὃς ταπεινώσας κατήγαγες τοὺς ἐνοικοῦντας ἐν ὑψηλοῖς πόλεις ὀχυρὰς καταβαλεῖς καὶ κατάξεις ἕως ἐδάφους
Isa 26:6 The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy. Isa 26:6 "The foot will trample it, The feet of the afflicted, the steps of the helpless." Isa 26:6 καὶ πατήσουσιν αὐτοὺς πόδες πραέων καὶ ταπεινῶν
Isa 26:7 The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just. Isa 26:7 The way of the righteous is smooth; O Upright One, make the path of the righteous level. Isa 26:7 ὁδὸς εὐσεβῶν εὐθεῖα ἐγένετο καὶ παρεσκευασμένη ἡ ὁδὸς τῶν εὐσεβῶν
Isa 26:8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee. Isa 26:8 Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, O Lord, We have waited for You eagerly; Your name, even Your memory, is the desire of our souls. Isa 26:8 ἡ γὰρ ὁδὸς κυρίου κρίσις ἠλπίσαμεν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί σου καὶ ἐπὶ τῇ μνείᾳ
Isa 26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. Isa 26:9 At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently; For when the earth experiences Your judgments The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. Isa 26:9 ᾗ ἐπιθυμεῖ ἡ ψυχὴ ἡμῶν ἐκ νυκτὸς ὀρθρίζει τὸ πνεῦμά μου πρὸς σέ ὁ θεός διότι φῶς τὰ προστάγματά σου ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς δικαιοσύνην μάθετε οἱ ἐνοικοῦντες ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
Isa 26:10 Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD. Isa 26:10 Though the wicked is shown favor, He does not learn righteousness; He deals unjustly in the land of uprightness, And does not perceive the majesty of the Lord. Isa 26:10 πέπαυται γὰρ ὁ ἀσεβής οὐ μὴ μάθῃ δικαιοσύνην ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἀλήθειαν οὐ μὴ ποιήσῃ ἀρθήτω ὁ ἀσεβής ἵνα μὴ ἴδῃ τὴν δόξαν κυρίου
Isa 26:11 LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them. Isa 26:11 O Lord, Your hand is lifted up yet they do not see it. They see Your zeal for the people and are put to shame; Indeed, fire will devour Your enemies. Isa 26:11 κύριε ὑψηλός σου ὁ βραχίων καὶ οὐκ ᾔδεισαν γνόντες δὲ αἰσχυνθήσονται ζῆλος λήμψεται λαὸν ἀπαίδευτον καὶ νῦν πῦρ τοὺς ὑπεναντίους ἔδεται
Isa 26:12 LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us. Isa 26:12 Lord, You will establish peace for us, Since You have also performed for us all our works. Isa 26:12 κύριε ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν εἰρήνην δὸς ἡμῖν πάντα γὰρ ἀπέδωκας ἡμῖν
Isa 26:13 O LORD our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name. Isa 26:13 O Lord our God, other masters besides You have ruled us; But through You alone we confess Your name. Isa 26:13 κύριε ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν κτῆσαι ἡμᾶς κύριε ἐκτὸς σοῦ ἄλλον οὐκ οἴδαμεν τὸ ὄνομά σου ὀνομάζομεν
Isa 26:14 They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish. Isa 26:14 The dead will not live, the departed spirits will not rise; Therefore You have punished and destroyed them, And You have wiped out all remembrance of them. Isa 26:14 οἱ δὲ νεκροὶ ζωὴν οὐ μὴ ἴδωσιν οὐδὲ ἰατροὶ οὐ μὴ ἀναστήσωσιν διὰ τοῦτο ἐπήγαγες καὶ ἀπώλεσας καὶ ἦρας πᾶν ἄρσεν αὐτῶν
Isa 26 15 Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth. Isa 26:15 You have increased the nation, O Lord, You have increased the nation, You are glorified; You have extended all the borders of the land. Isa 26:15 πρόσθες αὐτοῖς κακά κύριε πρόσθες κακὰ πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐνδόξοις τῆς γῆς
Isa 26:16 LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them. Isa 26:16 O Lord, they sought You in distress; They could only whisper a prayer, Your chastening was upon them. Isa 26:16 κύριε ἐν θλίψει ἐμνήσθην σου ἐν θλίψει μικρᾷ ἡ παιδεία σου ἡμῖν
Isa 26:17 Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD. Isa 26:17 As the pregnant woman approaches the time to give birth, She writhes and cries out in her labor pains, Thus were we before You, O Lord. Isa 26:17 καὶ ὡς ἡ ὠδίνουσα ἐγγίζει τοῦ τεκεῖν καὶ ἐπὶ τῇ ὠδῖνι αὐτῆς ἐκέκραξεν οὕτως ἐγενήθημεν τῷ ἀγαπητῷ σου διὰ τὸν φόβον σου κύριε
Isa 26:18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. Isa 26:18 We were pregnant, we writhed in labor, We gave birth, as it seems, only to wind. We could not accomplish deliverance for the earth, Nor were inhabitants of the world born. Isa 26:18 ἐν γαστρὶ ἐλάβομεν καὶ ὠδινήσαμεν καὶ ἐτέκομεν πνεῦμα σωτηρίας σου ἐποιήσαμεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἀλλὰ πεσοῦνται οἱ ἐνοικοῦντες ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
Isa 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Isa 26:19 Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits. Isa 26:19 ἀναστήσονται οἱ νεκροί καὶ ἐγερθήσονται οἱ ἐν τοῖς μνημείοις καὶ εὐφρανθήσονται οἱ ἐν τῇ γῇ ἡ γὰρ δρόσος ἡ παρὰ σοῦ ἴαμα αὐτοῖς ἐστιν ἡ δὲ γῆ τῶν ἀσεβῶν πεσεῖται
Isa 26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. Isa 26:20 Come, my people, enter into your rooms And close your doors behind you; Hide for a little while Until indignation runs its course. Isa 26:20 βάδιζε λαός μου εἴσελθε εἰς τὰ ταμίειά σου ἀπόκλεισον τὴν θύραν σου ἀποκρύβηθι μικρὸν ὅσον ὅσον ἕως ἂν παρέλθῃ ἡ ὀργὴ κυρίου
Isa 26:21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain. Isa 26:21 For behold, the Lord is about to come out from His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; And the earth will reveal her bloodshed And will no longer cover her slain. Isa 26:21 ἰδοὺ γὰρ κύριος ἀπὸ τοῦ ἁγίου ἐπάγει τὴν ὀργὴν ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐνοικοῦντας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἀνακαλύψει ἡ γῆ τὸ αἷμα αὐτῆς καὶ οὐ κατακαλύψει τοὺς ἀνῃρημένους
Isa 27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea. Isa 27:1 In that day the Lord will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, With His fierce and great and mighty sword, Even Leviathan the twisted serpent; And He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea. Isa 27:1 τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἐπάξει ὁ θεὸς τὴν μάχαιραν τὴν ἁγίαν καὶ τὴν μεγάλην καὶ τὴν ἰσχυρὰν ἐπὶ τὸν δράκοντα ὄφιν φεύγοντα ἐπὶ τὸν δράκοντα ὄφιν σκολιὸν καὶ ἀνελεῖ τὸν δράκοντα
Isa 27:2 In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine. Isa 27:2 In that day, "A vineyard of wine, sing of it! Isa 27:2 τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἀμπελὼν καλός ἐπιθύμημα ἐξάρχειν κατ᾽ αὐτῆς
Isa 27:3 I the LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day. Isa 27:3 "I, the Lord, am its keeper; I water it every moment. So that no one will damage it, I guard it night and day. Isa 27:3 ἐγὼ πόλις ἰσχυρά πόλις πολιορκουμένη μάτην ποτιῶ αὐτήν ἁλώσεται γὰρ νυκτός ἡμέρας δὲ πεσεῖται τὸ τεῖχος
Isa 27:4 Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together. Isa 27:4 "I have no wrath. Should someone give Me briars and thorns in battle, Then I would step on them, I would burn them completely. Isa 27:4 οὐκ ἔστιν ἣ οὐκ ἐπελάβετο αὐτῆς τίς με θήσει φυλάσσειν καλάμην ἐν ἀγρῷ διὰ τὴν πολεμίαν ταύτην ἠθέτηκα αὐτήν τοίνυν διὰ τοῦτο ἐποίησεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς πάντα ὅσα συνέταξεν κατακέκαυμαι
Isa 27:5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me. Isa 27:5 "Or let him rely on My protection, Let him make peace with Me, Let him make peace with Me." Isa 27:5 βοήσονται οἱ ἐνοικοῦντες ἐν αὐτῇ ποιήσωμεν εἰρήνην αὐτῷ ποιήσωμεν εἰρήνην
Isa 27:6 He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. Isa 27:6 In the days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will blossom and sprout, And they will fill the whole world with fruit. Isa 27:6 οἱ ἐρχόμενοι τέκνα Ιακωβ βλαστήσει καὶ ἐξανθήσει Ισραηλ καὶ ἐμπλησθήσεται ἡ οἰκουμένη τοῦ καρποῦ αὐτοῦ
Isa 27:7 Hath he smitten him, as he smote those that smote him? or is he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him? Isa 27:7 Like the striking of Him who has struck them, has He struck them? Or like the slaughter of His slain, have they been slain? Isa 27:7 μὴ ὡς αὐτὸς ἐπάταξεν καὶ αὐτὸς οὕτως πληγήσεται καὶ ὡς αὐτὸς ἀνεῖλεν οὕτως ἀναιρεθήσεται
Isa 27:8 In measure, when it shooteth forth, thou wilt debate with it: he stayeth his rough wind in the day of the east wind. Isa 27:8 You contended with them by banishing them, by driving them away. With His fierce wind He has expelled them on the day of the east wind. Isa 27:8 μαχόμενος καὶ ὀνειδίζων ἐξαποστελεῖ αὐτούς οὐ σὺ ἦσθα ὁ μελετῶν τῷ πνεύματι τῷ σκληρῷ ἀνελεῖν αὐτοὺς πνεύματι θυμοῦ
Isa 27:9 By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up. Isa 27:9 Therefore through this Jacob's iniquity will be forgiven; And this will be the full price of the pardoning of his sin: When he makes all the altar stones like pulverized chalk stones; When Asherim and incense altars will not stand. Isa 27:9 διὰ τοῦτο ἀφαιρεθήσεται ἡ ἀνομία Ιακωβ καὶ τοῦτό ἐστιν ἡ εὐλογία αὐτοῦ ὅταν ἀφέλωμαι αὐτοῦ τὴν ἁμαρτίαν ὅταν θῶσιν πάντας τοὺς λίθους τῶν βωμῶν κατακεκομμένους ὡς κονίαν λεπτήν καὶ οὐ μὴ μείνῃ τὰ δένδρα αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ εἴδωλα αὐτῶν ἐκκεκομμένα ὥσπερ δρυμὸς μακράν
Isa 27:10 Yet the defenced city shall be desolate, and the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof. Isa 27:10 For the fortified city is isolated, A homestead forlorn and forsaken like the desert; There the calf will graze, And there it will lie down and feed on its branches. Isa 27:10 τὸ κατοικούμενον ποίμνιον ἀνειμένον ἔσται ὡς ποίμνιον καταλελειμμένον καὶ ἔσται πολὺν χρόνον εἰς βόσκημα καὶ ἐκεῖ ἀναπαύσονται
Isa 27:11 When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of no understanding therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favour. Isa 27:11 When its limbs are dry, they are broken off; Women come and make a fire with them, For they are not a people of discernment, Therefore their Maker will not have compassion on them. And their Creator will not be gracious to them. Isa 27:12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel. Isa 27:12 In that day the Lord will start His threshing from the flowing stream of the Euphrates to the brook of Egypt, and you will be gathered up one by one, O sons of Israel. Isa 27:13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem. Isa 27:13 It will come about also in that day that a great trumpet will be blown, and those who were perishing in the land of Assyria and who were scattered in the land of Egypt will come and worship the Lord in the holy mountain at Jerusalem. Isa 28:2 Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand. Isa 28:2 Behold, the Lord has a strong and mighty agent; As a storm of hail, a tempest of destruction, Like a storm of mighty overflowing waters, He has cast it down to the earth with His hand. Isa 28:3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet: Isa 28:3 The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim is trodden under foot. Isa 28:3 καὶ τοῖς ποσὶν καταπατηθήσεται ὁ στέφανος τῆς ὕβρεως οἱ μισθωτοὶ τοῦ Εφραιμ
Isa 28:4 And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up. Isa 28:4 And the fading flowers of its glorious beauty, Which is at the head of the fertile valley, Will be like the first-ripe fig prior to summer, Which one sees, And as soon as it is in his hand, He swallows it. Isa 28:5 In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people, Isa 28:5 In that day the Lord of hosts will become a beautiful crown And a glorious diadem to the remnant of His people; Isa 28:5 τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἔσται κύριος σαβαωθ ὁ στέφανος τῆς ἐλπίδος ὁ πλακεὶς τῆς δόξης τῷ καταλειφθέντι μου λαῷ
Isa 28:6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate. Isa 28:6 A spirit of justice for him who sits in judgment, A strength to those who repel the onslaught at the gate. Isa 28:6 καταλειφθήσονται ἐπὶ πνεύματι κρίσεως ἐπὶ κρίσιν καὶ ἰσχὺν κωλύων ἀνελεῖν
Isa 28:7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment. Isa 28:7 And these also reel with wine and stagger from strong drink: The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, They are confused by wine, they stagger from strong drink; They reel while having visions, They totter when rendering judgment. Isa 28:7 οὗτοι γὰρ οἴνῳ πεπλανημένοι εἰσίν ἐπλανήθησαν διὰ τὸ σικερα ἱερεὺς καὶ προφήτης ἐξέστησαν διὰ τὸν οἶνον ἐσείσθησαν ἀπὸ τῆς μέθης τοῦ σικερα ἐπλανήθησαν τοῦτ᾽ ἔστι φάσμα
Isa 28:8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean. Isa 28:8 For all the tables are full of filthy vomit, without a single clean place. Isa 28:8 ἀρὰ ἔδεται ταύτην τὴν βουλήν αὕτη γὰρ ἡ βουλὴ ἕνεκεν πλεονεξίας
Isa 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. Isa 28:9 "To whom would He teach knowledge, And to whom would He interpret the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just taken from the breast? Isa 28:9 τίνι ἀνηγγείλαμεν κακὰ καὶ τίνι ἀνηγγείλαμεν ἀγγελίαν οἱ ἀπογεγαλακτισμένοι ἀπὸ γάλακτος οἱ ἀπεσπασμένοι ἀπὸ μαστοῦ
Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: Isa 28:10 "For He says, 'Order on order, order on order, Line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there.'" Isa 28:10 θλῖψιν ἐπὶ θλῖψιν προσδέχου ἐλπίδα ἐπ᾽ ἐλπίδι ἔτι μικρὸν ἔτι μικρὸν
Isa 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. Isa 28:11 Indeed, He will speak to this people Through stammering lips and a foreign tongue, Isa 28:11 διὰ φαυλισμὸν χειλέων διὰ γλώσσης ἑτέρας ὅτι λαλήσουσιν τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ
Isa 28:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. Isa 28:12 He who said to them, "Here is rest, give rest to the weary," And, "Here is repose," but they would not listen. Isa 28:12 λέγοντες αὐτῷ τοῦτο τὸ ἀνάπαυμα τῷ πεινῶντι καὶ τοῦτο τὸ σύντριμμα καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησαν ἀκούειν
Isa 28:13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. Isa 28:13 So the word of the Lord to them will be, "Order on order, order on order, Line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there," That they may go and stumble backward, be broken, snared and taken captive. Isa 28:13 καὶ ἔσται αὐτοῖς τὸ λόγιον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ θλῖψις ἐπὶ θλῖψιν ἐλπὶς ἐπ᾽ ἐλπίδι ἔτι μικρὸν ἔτι μικρόν ἵνα πορευθῶσιν καὶ πέσωσιν εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω καὶ κινδυνεύσουσιν καὶ συντριβήσονται καὶ ἁλώσονται
Isa 28:14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. Isa 28 15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves Isa 28:15 Because you have said, "We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we have made a pact. The overwhelming scourge will not reach us when it passes by, For we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception." Isa 28:15 ὅτι εἴπατε ἐποιήσαμεν διαθήκην μετὰ τοῦ ᾅδου καὶ μετὰ τοῦ θανάτου συνθήκας καταιγὶς φερομένη ἐὰν παρέλθῃ οὐ μὴ ἔλθῃ ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς ἐθήκαμεν ψεῦδος τὴν ἐλπίδα ἡμῶν καὶ τῷ ψεύδει σκεπασθησόμεθα
Isa 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Isa 28:16 Therefore thus says the Lord God, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed. Isa 28:16 διὰ τοῦτο οὕτως λέγει κύριος ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐμβαλῶ εἰς τὰ θεμέλια Σιων λίθον πολυτελῆ ἐκλεκτὸν ἀκρογωνιαῖον ἔντιμον εἰς τὰ θεμέλια αὐτῆς καὶ ὁ πιστεύων ἐπ᾽ αὐτῷ οὐ μὴ καταισχυνθῇ
Isa 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. Isa 28:17 "I will make justice the measuring line And righteousness the level; Then hail will sweep away the refuge of lies And the waters will overflow the secret place. Isa 28:17 καὶ θήσω κρίσιν εἰς ἐλπίδα ἡ δὲ ἐλεημοσύνη μου εἰς σταθμούς καὶ οἱ πεποιθότες μάτην ψεύδει ὅτι οὐ μὴ παρέλθῃ ὑμᾶς καταιγίς
Isa 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. Isa 28:18 "Your covenant with death will be canceled, And your pact with Sheol will not stand; When the overwhelming scourge passes through, Then you become its trampling place. Isa 28:18 μὴ καὶ ἀφέλῃ ὑμῶν τὴν διαθήκην τοῦ θανάτου καὶ ἡ ἐλπὶς ὑμῶν ἡ πρὸς τὸν ᾅδην οὐ μὴ ἐμμείνῃ καταιγὶς φερομένη ἐὰν ἐπέλθῃ ἔσεσθε αὐτῇ εἰς καταπάτημα
Isa 28 19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report. Isa 28:19 "As often as it passes through, it will seize you; For morning after morning it will pass through, anytime during the day or night, And it will be sheer terror to understand what it means." Isa 28:19 ὅταν παρέλθῃ λήμψεται ὑμᾶς πρωὶ πρωὶ παρελεύσεται ἡμέρας καὶ ἐν νυκτὶ ἔσται ἐλπὶς πονηρά μάθετε ἀκούειν
Isa 28:20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it. Isa 28:20 The bed is too short on which to stretch out, And the blanket is too small to wrap oneself in. Isa 28:20 στενοχωρούμενοι οὐ δυνάμεθα μάχεσθαι αὐτοὶ δὲ ἀσθενοῦμεν τοῦ ἡμᾶς συναχθῆναι
Isa 28:21 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act. Isa 28:21 For the Lord will rise up as at Mount Perazim, He will be stirred up as in the valley of Gibeon, To do His task, His unusual task, And to work His work, His extraordinary work. Isa 28:22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth. Isa 28:22 And now do not carry on as scoffers, Or your fetters will be made stronger; For I have heard from the Lord God of hosts Of decisive destruction on all the earth. Isa 28:24 Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground? Isa 28:24 Does the farmer plow continually to plant seed? Does he continually turn and harrow the ground? Isa 28:24 μὴ ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν μέλλει ὁ ἀροτριῶν ἀροτριᾶν ἢ σπόρον προετοιμάσει πρὶν ἐργάσασθαι τὴν γῆν
Isa 28:25 When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place? Isa 28:25 Does he not level its surface And sow dill and scatter cummin And plant wheat in rows, Barley in its place and rye within its area? Isa 28:25 οὐχ ὅταν ὁμαλίσῃ αὐτῆς τὸ πρόσωπον τότε σπείρει μικρὸν μελάνθιον καὶ κύμινον καὶ πάλιν σπείρει πυρὸν καὶ κριθὴν καὶ ζέαν ἐν τοῖς ὁρίοις σου
Isa 28:26 For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him. Isa 28:26 For his God instructs and teaches him properly. Isa 28:26 καὶ παιδευθήσῃ κρίματι θεοῦ σου καὶ εὐφρανθήσῃ
Isa 28:27 For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod. Isa 28:27 For dill is not threshed with a threshing sledge, Nor is the cartwheel driven over cummin; But dill is beaten out with a rod, and cummin with a club. Isa 28:27 οὐ γὰρ μετὰ σκληρότητος καθαίρεται τὸ μελάνθιον οὐδὲ τροχὸς ἁμάξης περιάξει ἐπὶ τὸ κύμινον ἀλλὰ ῥάβδῳ ἐκτινάσσεται τὸ μελάνθιον τὸ δὲ κύμινον
Isa 28:28 Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen. Isa 28:28 Grain for bread is crushed, Indeed, he does not continue to thresh it forever. Because the wheel of his cart and his horses eventually damage it, He does not thresh it longer. Isa 28:28 μετὰ ἄρτου βρωθήσεται οὐ γὰρ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἐγὼ ὑμῖν ὀργισθήσομαι οὐδὲ φωνὴ τῆς πικρίας μου καταπατήσει ὑμᾶς
Isa 28:29 This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working. Isa 28:29 This also comes from the Lord of hosts, Who has made His counsel wonderful and His wisdom great. Isa 28:29 καὶ ταῦτα παρὰ κυρίου σαβαωθ ἐξῆλθεν τὰ τέρατα βουλεύσασθε ὑψώσατε ματαίαν παράκλησιν
