Mat 14:1 ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῶ καιρῶ ἤκουσεν ἡρῴδης ὁ τετραάρχης τὴν ἀκοὴν ἰησοῦ,

Mat 14:2 And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. (kjv)

Mat 14:2 and said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him."

Mat 14:2 καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ, οὖτός ἐστιν ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτιστής· αὐτὸς ἠγέρθη ἀπὸ τῶν νεκρῶν, καὶ διὰ τοῦτο αἱ δυνάμεις ἐνεργοῦσιν ἐν αὐτῶ.

Mat 14:3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife. (kjv)

Mat 14:9 And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her. (kjv)

Mat 14:9 Although he was grieved, the king commanded it to be given because of his oaths, and because of his dinner guests.

Mat 14:9 καὶ λυπηθεὶς ὁ βασιλεὺς διὰ τοὺς ὅρκους καὶ τοὺς συνανακειμένους ἐκέλευσεν δοθῆναι,

Mat 14:10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison. (kjv)

Mat 14:12 And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus. (kjv)

Mat 14:13 When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. (kjv)

Mat 14:13 Now when Jesus heard about John, He withdrew from there in a boat to a secluded place by Himself; and when the people heard of this, they followed Him on foot from the cities.

Mat 14:13 ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν ἐκεῖθεν ἐν πλοίῳ εἰς ἔρημον τόπον κατ᾽ ἰδίαν· καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ ὄχλοι ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῶ πεζῇ ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων.

Mat 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. (kjv)

Mat 14:14 καὶ ἐξελθὼν εἶδεν πολὺν ὄχλον, καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπ᾽ αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν τοὺς ἀρρώστους αὐτῶν.

Mat 14:15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. (kjv)
|
Mat 14:15 When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, "This place is desolate and the hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves."

Mat 14:15 ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης προσῆλθον αὐτῶ οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγοντες, ἔρημός ἐστιν ὁ τόπος καὶ ἡ ὥρα ἤδη παρῆλθεν· ἀπόλυσον τοὺς ὄχλους, ἵνα ἀπελθόντες εἰς τὰς κώμας ἀγοράσωσιν ἑαυτοῖς βρώματα.

Mat 14:16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. (kjv)

Mat 14:17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. (kjv)

Mat 14:17 They said to Him, "We have here only five loaves and two fish."

Mat 14:17 οἱ δὲ λέγουσιν αὐτῶ, οὐκ ἔχομεν ὧδε εἰ μὴ πέντε ἄρτους καὶ δύο ἰχθύας.

Mat 14:18 He said, Bring them hither to me. (kjv)

Mat 14:19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. (kjv)

Mat 14:19 καὶ κελεύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνακλιθῆναι ἐπὶ τοῦ χόρτου, λαβὼν τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς δύο ἰχθύας, ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εὐλόγησεν καὶ κλάσας ἔδωκεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς τοὺς ἄρτους οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις.

Mat 14:20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. (kjv)

Mat 14:20 and they all ate and were satisfied. They picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve full baskets.

Mat 14:20 καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ ἦραν τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων δώδεκα κοφίνους πλήρεις.

Mat 14:21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children. (kjv)

Mat 14:21 οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν ἄνδρες ὡσεὶ πεντακισχίλιοι χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων.

Mat 14:22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. (kjv)

Mat 14:22 Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away.
|
Mat 14:22 καὶ εὐθέως ἠνάγκασεν τοὺς μαθητὰς ἐμβῆναι εἰς τὸ πλοῖον καὶ προάγειν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ πέραν, ἕως οὖ ἀπολύσῃ τοὺς ὄχλους.

Mat 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. (kjv)

Mat 14:23 καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος κατ᾽ ἰδίαν προσεύξασθαι. ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης μόνος ἦν ἐκεῖ.
|
Mat 14:24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. (kjv)
|
Mat 14:24 But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary.
|
Mat 14:24 τὸ δὲ πλοῖον ἤδη σταδίους πολλοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἀπεῖχεν, βασανιζόμενον ὑπὸ τῶν κυμάτων, ἦν γὰρ ἐναντίος ὁ ἄνεμος.

Mat 14:25 τετάρτῃ δὲ φυλακῇ τῆς νυκτὸς ἦλθεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς περιπατῶν ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν.

Mat 14:26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. (kjv)

Mat 14:26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out in fear.

Mat 14:26 οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης περιπατοῦντα ἐταράχθησαν λέγοντες ὅτι φάντασμά ἐστιν, καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ φόβου ἔκραξαν.

Mat 14:27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. (kjv)

Mat 14:27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid."

Mat 14:27 εὐθὺς δὲ ἐλάλησεν [ὁ ἰησοῦς] αὐτοῖς λέγων, θαρσεῖτε, ἐγώ εἰμι· μὴ φοβεῖσθε.

Mat 14:28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. (kjv)

Mat 14:28 Peter said to Him, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water."
|
Mat 14:28 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ αὐτῶ ὁ πέτρος εἶπεν, κύριε, εἰ σὺ εἶ, κέλευσόν με ἐλθεῖν πρὸς σὲ ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα·

Mat 14:29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. (kjv)

Mat 14:29 And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
|
Mat 14:29 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, ἐλθέ. καὶ καταβὰς ἀπὸ τοῦ πλοίου [ὁ] πέτρος περιεπάτησεν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς τὸν ἰησοῦν.

Mat 14:30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. (kjv)

Mat 14:30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!"
|
Mat 14:30 βλέπων δὲ τὸν ἄνεμον [ἰσχυρὸν] ἐφοβήθη, καὶ ἀρξάμενος καταποντίζεσθαι ἔκραξεν λέγων, κύριε, σῶσόν με.
|
Mat 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? (kjv)
|
Mat 14:31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
|
Mat 14:31 εὐθέως δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἐπελάβετο αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτῶ, ὀλιγόπιστε, εἰς τί ἐδίστασας;
|
Mat 14:32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. (kjv)
|
Mat 14:32 When they got into the boat, the wind stopped.
|
Mat 14:32 καὶ ἀναβάντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἐκόπασεν ὁ ἄνεμος.
|
Mat 14:33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God. (kjv)
|
Mat 14:33 And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, "You are certainly God's Son!"
|
Mat 14:33 οἱ δὲ ἐν τῶ πλοίῳ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῶ λέγοντες, ἀληθῶς θεοῦ υἱὸς εἶ.
|
Mat 14:34 And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret. (kjv)
|
Mat 14:34 When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret.
|
Mat 14:34 καὶ διαπεράσαντες ἦλθον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν εἰς γεννησαρέτ.
|
Mat 14:35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; (kjv)
|
Mat 14:35 And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent word into all that surrounding district and brought to Him all who were sick;
|
Mat 14:35 καὶ ἐπιγνόντες αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου ἀπέστειλαν εἰς ὅλην τὴν περίχωρον ἐκείνην, καὶ προσήνεγκαν αὐτῶ πάντας τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας,

Mat 14:36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.(kjv)
|
Mat 14:36 and they implored Him that they might just touch the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were cured.
|
Mat 14:36 καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν ἵνα μόνον ἅψωνται τοῦ κρασπέδου τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ· καὶ ὅσοι ἥψαντο διεσώθησαν.
|
Mat 15:1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, (kjv)

Mat 15:1 Then some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,

Mat 15:1 τότε προσέρχονται τῶ ἰησοῦ ἀπὸ ἱεροσολύμων φαρισαῖοι καὶ γραμματεῖς λέγοντες,

Mat 15:2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. (kjv)
|
Mat 15:2 "Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread."
|
Mat 15:2 διὰ τί οἱ μαθηταί σου παραβαίνουσιν τὴν παράδοσιν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων; οὐ γὰρ νίπτονται τὰς χεῖρας [αὐτῶν] ὅταν ἄρτον ἐσθίωσιν.

Mat 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? (kjv)
|
Mat 15:3 And He answered and said to them, "Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?
|
Mat 15:3 ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, διὰ τί καὶ ὑμεῖς παραβαίνετε τὴν ἐντολὴν τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν;
|
Mat 15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. (kjv)
|
Mat 15:4 For God said, 'Honor your father and mother, 'and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother is to be put to death.'
|
Mat 15:4 ὁ γὰρ θεὸς εἶπεν, τίμα τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα, καί, ὁ κακολογῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα θανάτῳ τελευτάτω·
|
Mat 15:5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; (kjv)
|
Mat 15:5 But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or mother, "Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God,"
|
Mat 15:5 ὑμεῖς δὲ λέγετε, ὃς ἂν εἴπῃ τῶ πατρὶ ἢ τῇ μητρί, δῶρον ὃ ἐὰν ἐξ ἐμοῦ ὠφεληθῇς,
|
Mat 15:6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. (kjv)
|
Mat 15:6 he is not to honor his father or his mother.' And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
|
Mat 15:6 οὐ μὴ τιμήσει τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἠκυρώσατε τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν.
|
Mat 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, (kjv)
|
Mat 15:7 You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you:
|
Mat 15:7 ὑποκριταί, καλῶς ἐπροφήτευσεν περὶ ὑμῶν ἠσαΐας λέγων,
|
Mat 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (kjv)
|
Mat 15:8 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.
|
Mat 15:8 ὁ λαὸς οὖτος τοῖς χείλεσίν με τιμᾷ, ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτῶν πόρρω ἀπέχει ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ·
|
Mat 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (kjv)
|
Mat 15:9 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'"
|
Mat 15:9 μάτην δὲ σέβονταί με, διδάσκοντες διδασκαλίας ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων.
|
Mat 15:10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: (kjv)
|
Mat 15:10 After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, "Hear and understand.
|
Mat 15:10 καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν ὄχλον εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ἀκούετε καὶ συνίετε·
|
Mat 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. (kjv)
|
Mat 15:11 It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man."
|
Mat 15:11 οὐ τὸ εἰσερχόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον, ἀλλὰ τὸ ἐκπορευόμενον ἐκ τοῦ στόματος τοῦτο κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.

Mat 15:12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? (kjv)
|
Mat 15:12 Then the disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?"
|
Mat 15:12 τότε προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῶ, οἶδας ὅτι οἱ φαρισαῖοι ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον ἐσκανδαλίσθησαν;
|
Mat 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. (kjv)
|
Mat 15:13 But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted.
|
Mat 15:13 ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, πᾶσα φυτεία ἣν οὐκ ἐφύτευσεν ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ οὐράνιος ἐκριζωθήσεται.
|
Mat 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. (kjv)
|
Mat 15:14 Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

Mat 15:14 ἄφετε αὐτούς· τυφλοί εἰσιν ὁδηγοί [τυφλῶν]· τυφλὸς δὲ τυφλὸν ἐὰν ὁδηγῇ, ἀμφότεροι εἰς βόθυνον πεσοῦνται.

Mat 15:15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. (kjv)
|
Mat 15:15 Peter said to Him, "Explain the parable to us."
|
Mat 15:15 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῶ, φράσον ἡμῖν τὴν παραβολήν [ταύτην].
|
Mat 15:16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? (kjv)
|
Mat 15:16 Jesus said, "Are you still lacking in understanding also?
|
Mat 15:16 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, ἀκμὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀσύνετοί ἐστε;
|
