Mar 14:1 After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. (kjv)

Mar 14:1 Now the Passover and Unleavened Bread were two days away; and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to seize Him by stealth and kill Him;

Mar 14:1 ἦν δὲ τὸ πάσχα καὶ τὰ ἄζυμα μετὰ δύο ἡμέρας. καὶ ἐζήτουν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς πῶς αὐτὸν ἐν δόλῳ κρατήσαντες ἀποκτείνωσιν·

Mar 14:2 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people. (kjv)

Mar 14:2 for they were saying, "Not during the festival, otherwise there might be a riot of the people."

Mar 14:2 ἔλεγον γάρ, μὴ ἐν τῇ ἑορτῇ, μήποτε ἔσται θόρυβος τοῦ λαοῦ.

Mar 14:3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. (kjv)

Mar 14:3 While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper, and reclining at the table, there came a woman with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume of pure nard; and she broke the vial and poured it over His head.

Mar 14:3 καὶ ὄντος αὐτοῦ ἐν βηθανίᾳ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ σίμωνος τοῦ λεπροῦ κατακειμένου αὐτοῦ ἦλθεν γυνὴ ἔχουσα ἀλάβαστρον μύρου νάρδου πιστικῆς πολυτελοῦς· συντρίψασα τὴν ἀλάβαστρον κατέχεεν αὐτοῦ τῆς κεφαλῆς.

Mar 14:4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? (kjv)

Mar 14:4 But some were indignantly remarking to one another, "Why has this perfume been wasted?

Mar 14:4 ἦσαν δέ τινες ἀγανακτοῦντες πρὸς ἑαυτούς, εἰς τί ἡ ἀπώλεια αὕτη τοῦ μύρου γέγονεν;

Mar 14:5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. (kjv)

Mar 14:5 For this perfume might have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor." And they were scolding her.

Mar 14:5 ἠδύνατο γὰρ τοῦτο τὸ μύρον πραθῆναι ἐπάνω δηναρίων τριακοσίων καὶ δοθῆναι τοῖς πτωχοῖς· καὶ ἐνεβριμῶντο αὐτῇ.

Mar 14:6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. (kjv)

Mar 14:6 But Jesus said, "Let her alone; why do you bother her? She has done a good deed to Me.

Mar 14:6 ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, ἄφετε αὐτήν· τί αὐτῇ κόπους παρέχετε; καλὸν ἔργον ἠργάσατο ἐν ἐμοί.

Mar 14:7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. (kjv)

Mar 14:7 For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.

Mar 14:7 πάντοτε γὰρ τοὺς πτωχοὺς ἔχετε μεθ᾽ ἑαυτῶν, καὶ ὅταν θέλητε δύνασθε αὐτοῖς εὗ ποιῆσαι, ἐμὲ δὲ οὐ πάντοτε ἔχετε.

Mar 14:8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. (kjv)

Mar 14:9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. (kjv)

Mar 14:9 Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her."

Mar 14:9 ἀμὴν δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν, ὅπου ἐὰν κηρυχθῇ τὸ εὐαγγέλιον εἰς ὅλον τὸν κόσμον, καὶ ὃ ἐποίησεν αὕτη λαληθήσεται εἰς μνημόσυνον αὐτῆς.

Mar 14:12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover? (kjv)

Mar 14:13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. (kjv)

Mar 14:14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? (kjv)

Mar 14:14 καὶ ὅπου ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃ εἴπατε τῶ οἰκοδεσπότῃ ὅτι ὁ διδάσκαλος λέγει, ποῦ ἐστιν τὸ κατάλυμά μου ὅπου τὸ πάσχα μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν μου φάγω;

Mar 14:15 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us. (kjv)

Mar 14:16 And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. (kjv)

Mar 14:18 And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me. (kjv)

Mar 14:18 καὶ ἀνακειμένων αὐτῶν καὶ ἐσθιόντων ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι εἷς ἐξ ὑμῶν παραδώσει με, ὁ ἐσθίων μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ.

Mar 14:19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I? (kjv)

Mar 14:20 And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish. (kjv)

Mar 14:21 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born. (kjv)

Mar 14:21 For the Son of Man is to go just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."

Mar 14:21 ὅτι ὁ μὲν υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὑπάγει καθὼς γέγραπται περὶ αὐτοῦ, οὐαὶ δὲ τῶ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐκείνῳ δι᾽ οὖ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδοται· καλὸν αὐτῶ εἰ οὐκ ἐγεννήθη ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος.

Mar 14:22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. (kjv)

Mar 14:24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many. (kjv)

Mar 14:25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God. (kjv)

Mar 14:25 Truly I say to you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."

Mar 14:25 ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐκέτι οὐ μὴ πίω ἐκ τοῦ γενήματος τῆς ἀμπέλου ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης ὅταν αὐτὸ πίνω καινὸν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ.

Mar 14:30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. (kjv)

Mar 14:30 καὶ λέγει αὐτῶ ὁ ἰησοῦς, ἀμὴν λέγω σοι ὅτι σὺ σήμερον ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ πρὶν ἢ δὶς ἀλέκτορα φωνῆσαι τρίς με ἀπαρνήσῃ.

Mar 14:31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all. (kjv)

Mar 14:31 But Peter kept saying insistently, "Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!" And they all were saying the same thing also.

Mar 14:31 ὁ δὲ ἐκπερισσῶς ἐλάλει, ἐὰν δέῃ με συναποθανεῖν σοι, οὐ μή σε ἀπαρνήσομαι. ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ πάντες ἔλεγον.

Mar 14:32 And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray. (kjv)

Mar 14:33 And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; (kjv)

Mar 14:34 And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. (kjv)

Mar 14:35 And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. (kjv)

Mar 14:35 And He went a little beyond them, and fell to the ground and began to pray that if it were possible, the hour might pass Him by.

Mar 14:35 καὶ προελθὼν μικρὸν ἔπιπτεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ προσηύχετο ἵνα εἰ δυνατόν ἐστιν παρέλθῃ ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἡ ὥρα,

Mar 14:36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. (kjv)
|
Mar 14:36 And He was saying, "Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will."
|
Mar 14:36 καὶ ἔλεγεν, αββα ὁ πατήρ, πάντα δυνατά σοι· παρένεγκε τὸ ποτήριον τοῦτο ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ· ἀλλ᾽ οὐ τί ἐγὼ θέλω ἀλλὰ τί σύ.

Mar 14:37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? (kjv)

Mar 14:37 And He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour?
|
Mar 14:37 καὶ ἔρχεται καὶ εὑρίσκει αὐτοὺς καθεύδοντας, καὶ λέγει τῶ πέτρῳ, σίμων, καθεύδεις; οὐκ ἴσχυσας μίαν ὥραν γρηγορῆσαι;
|
Mar 14:38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. (kjv)
|
Mar 14:38 Keep watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Mar 14:38 γρηγορεῖτε καὶ προσεύχεσθε, ἵνα μὴ ἔλθητε εἰς πειρασμόν· τὸ μὲν πνεῦμα πρόθυμον ἡ δὲ σὰρξ ἀσθενής.

Mar 14:40 And again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him.

Mar 14:40 καὶ πάλιν ἐλθὼν εὖρεν αὐτοὺς καθεύδοντας, ἦσαν γὰρ αὐτῶν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ καταβαρυνόμενοι, καὶ οὐκ ᾔδεισαν τί ἀποκριθῶσιν αὐτῶ.

Mar 14:41 And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. (kjv)

Mar 14:41 And He came the third time, and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough; the hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

Mar 14:41 καὶ ἔρχεται τὸ τρίτον καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, καθεύδετε τὸ λοιπὸν καὶ ἀναπαύεσθε; ἀπέχει· ἦλθεν ἡ ὥρα, ἰδοὺ παραδίδοται ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου εἰς τὰς χεῖρας τῶν ἁμαρτωλῶν.

Mar 14:42 Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand. (kjv)
|
Mar 14:42 Get up, let us be going; behold, the one who betrays Me is at hand!"
|
Mar 14:42 ἐγείρεσθε ἄγωμεν· ἰδοὺ ὁ παραδιδούς με ἤγγικεν.

Mar 14:43 And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. (kjv)
|
Mar 14:43 Immediately while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came up accompanied by a crowd with swords and clubs, who were from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
|
Mar 14:43 καὶ εὐθὺς ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος παραγίνεται ἰούδας εἷς τῶν δώδεκα καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ὄχλος μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων παρὰ τῶν ἀρχιερέων καὶ τῶν γραμματέων καὶ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων.

Mar 14:44 And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. (kjv)

Mar 14:44 Now he who was betraying Him had given them a signal, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the one; seize Him and lead Him away under guard."

Mar 14:44 δεδώκει δὲ ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν σύσσημον αὐτοῖς λέγων, ὃν ἂν φιλήσω αὐτός ἐστιν· κρατήσατε αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπάγετε ἀσφαλῶς.

Mar 14:45 And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him. (kjv)

Mar 14:47 And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. (kjv)

Mar 14:47 But one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.

Mar 14:47 εἷς δέ [τις] τῶν παρεστηκότων σπασάμενος τὴν μάχαιραν ἔπαισεν τὸν δοῦλον τοῦ ἀρχιερέως καὶ ἀφεῖλεν αὐτοῦ τὸ ὠτάριον.

Mar 14:48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me? (kjv)

Mar 14:48 And Jesus said to them, "Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me, as you would against a robber?

Mar 14:67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. (kjv)

Mar 14:70 And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto. (kjv)

Mar 14:72 Immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him, "Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And he began to weep.
