Job 24
Job 24:1 Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days? Job 24:1 "Why are times not stored up by the Almighty, And why do those who know Him not see His days? Job 24:1 διὰ τί δὲ κύριον ἔλαθον ὧραι
Job 24:2 Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof. Job 24:2 "Some remove the landmarks; They seize and devour flocks. Job 24:2 ἀσεβεῖς δὲ ὅριον ὑπερέβησαν ποίμνιον σὺν ποιμένι ἁρπάσαντες
Job 24:3 They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge. Job 24:3 "They drive away the donkeys of the orphans; They take the widow's ox for a pledge. Job 24:3 ὑποζύγιον ὀρφανῶν ἀπήγαγον καὶ βοῦν χήρας ἠνεχύρασαν
Job 24:4 They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together. Job 24:4 "They push the needy aside from the road; The poor of the land are made to hide themselves altogether. Job 24:4 ἐξέκλιναν ἀδυνάτους ἐξ ὁδοῦ δικαίας ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἐκρύβησαν πραεῖς γῆς
Job 24:5 Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children. Job 24:5 "Behold, as wild donkeys in the wilderness They go forth seeking food in their activity, As bread for their children in the desert. Job 24:5 ἀπέβησαν δὲ ὥσπερ ὄνοι ἐν ἀγρῷ ὑπὲρ ἐμοῦ ἐξελθόντες τὴν ἑαυτῶν πρᾶξιν ἡδύνθη αὐτῷ ἄρτος εἰς νεωτέρους
Job 24:6 They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked. Job 24:6 "They harvest their fodder in the field And glean the vineyard of the wicked. Job 24:6 ἀγρὸν πρὸ ὥρας οὐκ αὐτῶν ὄντα ἐθέρισαν ἀδύνατοι δὲ ἀμπελῶνας ἀσεβῶν ἀμισθὶ καὶ ἀσιτὶ ἠργάσαντο
Job 24:7 They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold. Job 24:7 "They spend the night naked, without clothing, And have no covering against the cold. Job 24:7 γυμνοὺς πολλοὺς ἐκοίμισαν ἄνευ ἱματίων ἀμφίασιν δὲ ψυχῆς αὐτῶν ἀφείλαντο
Job 24:8 They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter. Job 24:8 "They are wet with the mountain rains And hug the rock for want of a shelter. Job 24:8 ἀπὸ ψεκάδων ὀρέων ὑγραίνονται παρὰ τὸ μὴ ἔχειν αὐτοὺς σκέπην πέτραν περιεβάλοντο
Job 24:9 They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor. Job 24:9 "Others snatch the orphan from the breast, And against the poor they take a pledge. Job 24:9 ἥρπασαν ὀρφανὸν ἀπὸ μαστοῦ ἐκπεπτωκότα δὲ ἐταπείνωσαν
Job 24:10 They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry; Job 24:10 "They cause the poor to go about naked without clothing, And they take away the sheaves from the hungry. Job 24:10 γυμνοὺς δὲ ἐκοίμισαν ἀδίκως πεινώντων δὲ τὸν ψωμὸν ἀφείλαντο
Job 24:11 Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst. Job 24:11 "Within the walls they produce oil; They tread wine presses but thirst. Job 24:11 ἐν στενοῖς ἀδίκως ἐνήδρευσαν ὁδὸν δὲ δικαίαν οὐκ ᾔδεισαν
Job 24:12 Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them. Job 24:12 "From the city men groan, And the souls of the wounded cry out; Yet God does not pay attention to folly. Job 24:12 οἳ ἐκ πόλεως καὶ οἴκων ἰδίων ἐξεβάλλοντο ψυχὴ δὲ νηπίων ἐστέναξεν μέγα αὐτὸς δὲ διὰ τί τούτων ἐπισκοπὴν οὐ πεποίηται
Job 24:13 They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. Job 24:13 "Others have been with those who rebel against the light; They do not want to know its ways Nor abide in its paths. Job 24:13 ἐπὶ γῆς ὄντων αὐτῶν καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν ὁδὸν δὲ δικαιοσύνης οὐκ ᾔδεισαν οὐδὲ ἀτραποὺς αὐτῆς ἐπορεύθησαν
Job 24:14 The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief. Job 24:14 "The murderer arises at dawn; He kills the poor and the needy, And at night he is as a thief. Job 24:14 γνοὺς δὲ αὐτῶν τὰ ἔργα παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς εἰς σκότος καὶ νυκτὸς ἔσται ὡς κλέπτης
Job 24:15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face. Job 24:15 "The eye of the adulterer waits for the twilight, Saying, 'No eye will see me.' And he disguises his face. Job 24:15 καὶ ὀφθαλμὸς μοιχοῦ ἐφύλαξεν σκότος λέγων οὐ προσνοήσει με ὀφθαλμός καὶ ἀποκρυβὴν προσώπου ἔθετο
Job 24:16 In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light. Job 24:16 "In the dark they dig into houses, They shut themselves up by day; They do not know the light. Job 24:16 διώρυξεν ἐν σκότει οἰκίας ἡμέρας ἐσφράγισαν ἑαυτούς οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν φῶς
Job 24:17 For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death. Job 24:17 "For the morning is the same to him as thick darkness, For he is familiar with the terrors of thick darkness. Job 24:17 ὅτι ὁμοθυμαδὸν τὸ πρωὶ αὐτοῖς σκιὰ θανάτου ὅτι ἐπιγνώσεται ταραχὰς σκιᾶς θανάτου
Job 24:18 He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards. Job 24:18 "They are insignificant on the surface of the water; Their portion is cursed on the earth. They do not turn toward the vineyards. Job 24:18 ἐλαφρός ἐστιν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ὕδατος καταραθείη ἡ μερὶς αὐτῶν ἐπὶ γῆς
Job 24:19 Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned. Job 24:19 "Drought and heat consume the snow waters, So does Sheol those who have sinned. Job 24:19 ἀναφανείη δὲ τὰ φυτὰ αὐτῶν ἐπὶ γῆς ξηρά ἀγκαλίδα γὰρ ὀρφανῶν ἥρπασαν
Job 24:20 The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree. Job 24:20 "A mother will forget him; The worm feeds sweetly till he is no longer remembered. And wickedness will be broken like a tree. Job 24:20 εἶτ᾽ ἀνεμνήσθη αὐτοῦ ἡ ἁμαρτία ὥσπερ δὲ ὁμίχλη δρόσου ἀφανὴς ἐγένετο ἀποδοθείη δὲ αὐτῷ ἃ ἔπραξεν συντριβείη δὲ πᾶς ἄδικος ἴσα ξύλῳ ἀνιάτῳ
Job 24:21 He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow. Job 24:21 "He wrongs the barren woman And does no good for the widow. Job 24:21 στεῖραν γὰρ οὐκ εὖ ἐποίησεν καὶ γύναιον οὐκ ἠλέησεν
Job 24:22 He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life. Job 24:22 "But He drags off the valiant by His power; He rises, but no one has assurance of life. Job 24:22 θυμῷ δὲ κατέστρεψεν ἀδυνάτους ἀναστὰς τοιγαροῦν οὐ μὴ πιστεύσῃ κατὰ τῆς ἑαυτοῦ ζωῆς
Job 24:23 Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways. Job 24:23 "He provides them with security, and they are supported; And His eyes are on their ways. Job 24:23 μαλακισθεὶς μὴ ἐλπιζέτω ὑγιασθῆναι ἀλλὰ πεσεῖται νόσῳ
Job 24:24 They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn. Job 24:24 "They are exalted a little while, then they are gone; Moreover, they are brought low and like everything gathered up; Even like the heads of grain they are cut off. Job 24:24 πολλοὺς γὰρ ἐκάκωσεν τὸ ὕψωμα αὐτοῦ ἐμαράνθη δὲ ὥσπερ μολόχη ἐν καύματι ἢ ὥσπερ στάχυς ἀπὸ καλάμης αὐτόματος ἀποπεσών
Job 24:25 And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth? Job 24:25 "Now if it is not so, who can prove me a liar, And make my speech worthless? " Job 24:25 εἰ δὲ μή τίς ἐστιν ὁ φάμενος ψευδῆ με λέγειν καὶ θήσει εἰς οὐδὲν τὰ ῥήματά μου
