Psalm 55
Psa 55:1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. Psa 55:1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; And do not hide Yourself from my supplication. Psa 55:1 εἰς τὸ τέλος ἐν ὕμνοις συνέσεως τῷ Δαυιδ
Psa 55:2 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise; Psa 55:2 Give heed to me and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and am surely distracted, Psa 55:2 ἐνώτισαι ὁ θεός τὴν προσευχὴν μου καὶ μὴ ὑπερίδῃς τὴν δέησίν μου
Psa 55:3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me. Psa 55:3 Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the pressure of the wicked; For they bring down trouble upon me And in anger they bear a grudge against me. Psa 55:3 πρόσχες μοι καὶ εἰσάκουσόν μου ἐλυπήθην ἐν τῇ ἀδολεσχίᾳ μου καὶ ἐταράχθην
Psa 55:4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. Psa 55:4 My heart is in anguish within me, And the terrors of death have fallen upon me. Psa 55:4 ἀπὸ φωνῆς ἐχθροῦ καὶ ἀπὸ θλίψεως ἁμαρτωλοῦ ὅτι ἐξέκλιναν ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ἀνομίαν καὶ ἐν ὀργῇ ἐνεκότουν μοι
Psa 55:5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. Psa 55:5 Fear and trembling come upon me, And horror has overwhelmed me. Psa 55:5 ἡ καρδία μου ἐταράχθη ἐν ἐμοί καὶ δειλία θανάτου ἐπέπεσεν ἐπ᾽ ἐμέ
Psa 55:6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. Psa 55:6 I said, "Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. Psa 55:6 φόβος καὶ τρόμος ἦλθεν ἐπ᾽ ἐμέ καὶ ἐκάλυψέν με σκότος
Psa 55:7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah. Psa 55:7 "Behold, I would wander far away, I would lodge in the wilderness. Selah. Psa 55:7 καὶ εἶπα τίς δώσει μοι πτέρυγας ὡσεὶ περιστερᾶς καὶ πετασθήσομαι καὶ καταπαύσω
Psa 55:8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. Psa 55:8 "I would hasten to my place of refuge From the stormy wind and tempest." Psa 55:8 ἰδοὺ ἐμάκρυνα φυγαδεύων καὶ ηὐλίσθην ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ διάψαλμα
Psa 55:9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city. Psa 55:9 Confuse, O Lord, divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city. Psa 55:9 προσεδεχόμην τὸν σῴζοντά με ἀπὸ ὀλιγοψυχίας καὶ καταιγίδος
Psa 55:10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. Psa 55:10 καταπόντισον κύριε καὶ καταδίελε τὰς γλώσσας αὐτῶν ὅτι εἶδον ἀνομίαν καὶ ἀντιλογίαν ἐν τῇ πόλει
Psa 55:11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. Psa 55:11 Destruction is in her midst; Oppression and deceit do not depart from her streets. Psa 55:11 ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτὸς κυκλώσει αὐτὴν ἐπὶ τὰ τείχη αὐτῆς ἀνομία καὶ κόπος ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς καὶ ἀδικία
Psa 55 12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him Psa 55:12 For it is not an enemy who reproaches me, Then I could bear it; Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me, Then I could hide myself from him. Psa 55:12 καὶ οὐκ ἐξέλιπεν ἐκ τῶν πλατειῶν αὐτῆς τόκος καὶ δόλος
Psa 55:13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. Psa 55:13 But it is you, a man my equal, My companion and my familiar friend; Psa 55:13 ὅτι εἰ ἐχθρὸς ὠνείδισέν με ὑπήνεγκα ἄν καὶ εἰ ὁ μισῶν με ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ἐμεγαλορρημόνησεν ἐκρύβην ἂν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ
Psa 55:14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. Psa 55:14 We who had sweet fellowship together Walked in the house of God in the throng. Psa 55:14 σὺ δέ ἄνθρωπε ἰσόψυχε ἡγεμών μου καὶ γνωστέ μου
Psa 55:15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them. Psa 55:15 Let death come deceitfully upon them; Let them go down alive to Sheol, For evil is in their dwelling, in their midst. Psa 55:15 ὃς ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό μοι ἐγλύκανας ἐδέσματα ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπορεύθημεν ἐν ὁμονοίᾳ
Psa 55:16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me. Psa 55:16 As for me, I shall call upon God, And the Lord will save me. Psa 55:16 ἐλθέτω θάνατος ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς καὶ καταβήτωσαν εἰς ᾅδου ζῶντες ὅτι πονηρίαι ἐν ταῖς παροικίαις αὐτῶν ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν
Psa 55:17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. Psa 55:17 Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice. Psa 55:17 ἐγὼ δὲ πρὸς τὸν θεὸν ἐκέκραξα καὶ ὁ κύριος εἰσήκουσέν μου
Psa 55:18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me. Psa 55:18 He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me, For they are many who strive with me. Psa 55:18 ἑσπέρας καὶ πρωὶ καὶ μεσημβρίας διηγήσομαι ἀπαγγελῶ καὶ εἰσακούσεται τῆς φωνῆς μου
Psa 55:19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God. Psa 55:19 God will hear and answer them-- Even the one who sits enthroned from of old-- Selah. With whom there is no change, And who do not fear God. Psa 55:19 λυτρώσεται ἐν εἰρήνῃ τὴν ψυχήν μου ἀπὸ τῶν ἐγγιζόντων μοι ὅτι ἐν πολλοῖς ἦσαν σὺν ἐμοί
Psa 55:20 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant. Psa 55:20 He has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; He has violated his covenant. Psa 55:20 εἰσακούσεται ὁ θεὸς καὶ ταπεινώσει αὐτούς ὁ ὑπάρχων πρὸ τῶν αἰώνων διάψαλμα οὐ γάρ ἐστιν αὐτοῖς ἀντάλλαγμα καὶ οὐκ ἐφοβήθησαν τὸν θεόν
Psa 55:21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. Psa 55:21 His speech was smoother than butter, But his heart was war; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords. Psa 55:21 ἐξέτεινεν τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ἀποδιδόναι ἐβεβήλωσαν τὴν διαθήκην αὐτοῦ
Psa 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psa 55:22 Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. Psa 55:22 διεμερίσθησαν ἀπὸ ὀργῆς τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἤγγισεν ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἡπαλύνθησαν οἱ λόγοι αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ ἔλαιον καὶ αὐτοί εἰσιν βολίδες
Psa 55:23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee. Psa 55:23 But You, O God, will bring them down to the pit of destruction; Men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days. But I will trust in You. Psa:55:23:ἐπίρριψον ἐπὶ κύριον τὴν μέριμνάν σου καὶ αὐτός σε διαθρέψει οὐ δώσει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα σάλον τῷ δικαίῳ Psa 54:24 σὺ δέ ὁ θεός κατάξεις αὐτοὺς εἰς φρέαρ διαφθορᾶς ἄνδρες αἱμάτων καὶ δολιότητος οὐ μὴ ἡμισεύσωσιν τὰς ἡμέρας αὐτῶν ἐγὼ δὲ ἐλπιῶ ἐπὶ σέ κύριε
