Proverbs 10
Pro 10:1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. Pro 10:1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish son is a grief to his mother. Pro 10:1 υἱὸς σοφὸς εὐφραίνει πατέρα υἱὸς δὲ ἄφρων λύπη τῇ μητρί
Pro 10:2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death. Pro 10:2 Ill-gotten gains do not profit, But righteousness delivers from death. Pro 10:2 οὐκ ὠφελήσουσιν θησαυροὶ ἀνόμους δικαιοσύνη δὲ ῥύσεται ἐκ θανάτου
Pro 10:3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked. Pro 10:3 The Lord will not allow the righteous to hunger, But He will reject the craving of the wicked. Pro 10:3 οὐ λιμοκτονήσει κύριος ψυχὴν δικαίαν ζωὴν δὲ ἀσεβῶν ἀνατρέψει
Pro 10:4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. Pro 10:4 Poor is he who works with a negligent hand, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. Pro 10:4 πενία ἄνδρα ταπεινοῖ χεῖρες δὲ ἀνδρείων πλουτίζουσιν ~ υἱὸς πεπαιδευμένος σοφὸς ἔσται τῷ δὲ ἄφρονι διακόνῳ χρήσεται
Pro 10:5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame. Pro 10:5 He who gathers in summer is a son who acts wisely, But he who sleeps in harvest is a son who acts shamefully. Pro 10:5 διεσώθη ἀπὸ καύματος υἱὸς νοήμων ἀνεμόφθορος δὲ γίνεται ἐν ἀμήτῳ υἱὸς παράνομος
Pro 10:6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. Pro 10:6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. Pro 10:6 εὐλογία κυρίου ἐπὶ κεφαλὴν δικαίου στόμα δὲ ἀσεβῶν καλύψει πένθος ἄωρον
Pro 10:7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot. Pro 10:7 The memory of the righteous is blessed, But the name of the wicked will rot. Pro 10:7 μνήμη δικαίων μετ᾽ ἐγκωμίων ὄνομα δὲ ἀσεβοῦς σβέννυται
Pro 10:8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. Pro 10:8 The wise of heart will receive commands, But a babbling fool will be ruined. Pro 10:8 σοφὸς καρδίᾳ δέξεται ἐντολάς ὁ δὲ ἄστεγος χείλεσιν σκολιάζων ὑποσκελισθήσεται
Pro 10:9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. Pro 10:9 He who walks in integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will be found out. Pro 10:9 ὃς πορεύεται ἁπλῶς πορεύεται πεποιθώς ὁ δὲ διαστρέφων τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ γνωσθήσεται
Pro 10:10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall. Pro 10:10 He who winks the eye causes trouble, And a babbling fool will be ruined. Pro 10:10 ὁ ἐννεύων ὀφθαλμοῖς μετὰ δόλου συνάγει ἀνδράσι λύπας ὁ δὲ ἐλέγχων μετὰ παρρησίας εἰρηνοποιεῖ
Pro 10:11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. Pro 10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. Pro 10:11 πηγὴ ζωῆς ἐν χειρὶ δικαίου στόμα δὲ ἀσεβοῦς καλύψει ἀπώλεια
Pro 10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. Pro 10:12 Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all transgressions. Pro 10:12 μῖσος ἐγείρει νεῖκος πάντας δὲ τοὺς μὴ φιλονεικοῦντας καλύπτει φιλία
Pro 10:13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding. Pro 10:13 On the lips of the discerning, wisdom is found, But a rod is for the back of him who lacks understanding. Pro 10:13 ὃς ἐκ χειλέων προφέρει σοφίαν ῥάβδῳ τύπτει ἄνδρα ἀκάρδιον
Pro 10:14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction. Pro 10:14 Wise men store up knowledge, But with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand. Pro 10:14 σοφοὶ κρύψουσιν αἴσθησιν στόμα δὲ προπετοῦς ἐγγίζει συντριβῇ
Pro 10:15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty. Pro 10:15 The rich man's wealth is his fortress, The ruin of the poor is their poverty. Pro 10:15 κτῆσις πλουσίων πόλις ὀχυρά συντριβὴ δὲ ἀσεβῶν πενία
Pro 10:16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin. Pro 10:16 The wages of the righteous is life, The income of the wicked, punishment. Pro 10:16 ἔργα δικαίων ζωὴν ποιεῖ καρποὶ δὲ ἀσεβῶν ἁμαρτίας
Pro 10:17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth. Pro 10:17 He is on the path of life who heeds instruction, But he who ignores reproof goes astray. Pro 10:17 ὁδοὺς δικαίας ζωῆς φυλάσσει παιδεία παιδεία δὲ ἀνεξέλεγκτος πλανᾶται
Pro 10:18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. Pro 10:18 He who conceals hatred has lying lips, And he who spreads slander is a fool. Pro 10:18 καλύπτουσιν ἔχθραν χείλη δίκαια οἱ δὲ ἐκφέροντες λοιδορίας ἀφρονέστατοί εἰσιν
Pro 10:19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. Pro 10:19 When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise. Pro 10:19 ἐκ πολυλογίας οὐκ ἐκφεύξῃ ἁμαρτίαν φειδόμενος δὲ χειλέων νοήμων ἔσῃ
Pro 10:20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. Pro 10:20 The tongue of the righteous is as choice silver, The heart of the wicked is worth little. Pro 10:20 ἄργυρος πεπυρωμένος γλῶσσα δικαίου καρδία δὲ ἀσεβοῦς ἐκλείψει
Pro 10:21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom. Pro 10:21 The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of understanding. Pro 10:21 χείλη δικαίων ἐπίσταται ὑψηλά οἱ δὲ ἄφρονες ἐν ἐνδείᾳ τελευτῶσιν
Pro 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. Pro 10:22 It is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it. Pro 10:22 εὐλογία κυρίου ἐπὶ κεφαλὴν δικαίου αὕτη πλουτίζει καὶ οὐ μὴ προστεθῇ αὐτῇ λύπη ἐν καρδίᾳ
Pro 10:23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom. Pro 10:23 Doing wickedness is like sport to a fool, And so is wisdom to a man of understanding. Pro 10:23 ἐν γέλωτι ἄφρων πράσσει κακά ἡ δὲ σοφία ἀνδρὶ τίκτει φρόνησιν
Pro 10:24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. Pro 10:24 What the wicked fears will come upon him, But the desire of the righteous will be granted. Pro 10:24 ἐν ἀπωλείᾳ ἀσεβὴς περιφέρεται ἐπιθυμία δὲ δικαίου δεκτή
Pro 10:25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation. Pro 10:25 When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation. Pro 10:25 παραπορευομένης καταιγίδος ἀφανίζεται ἀσεβής δίκαιος δὲ ἐκκλίνας σῴζεται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα
Pro 10:26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him. Pro 10:26 Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy one to those who send him. Pro 10:26 ὥσπερ ὄμφαξ ὀδοῦσι βλαβερὸν καὶ καπνὸς ὄμμασιν οὕτως παρανομία τοῖς χρωμένοις αὐτήν
Pro 10:27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened. Pro 10:27 The fear of the Lord prolongs life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened. Pro 10:27 φόβος κυρίου προστίθησιν ἡμέρας ἔτη δὲ ἀσεβῶν ὀλιγωθήσεται
Pro 10:28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. Pro 10:28 The hope of the righteous is gladness, But the expectation of the wicked perishes. Pro 10:28 ἐγχρονίζει δικαίοις εὐφροσύνη ἐλπὶς δὲ ἀσεβῶν ὄλλυται
Pro 10:29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. Pro 10:29 The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the upright, But ruin to the workers of iniquity. Pro 10:29 ὀχύρωμα ὁσίου φόβος κυρίου συντριβὴ δὲ τοῖς ἐργαζομένοις κακά
Pro 10:30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth. Pro 10:30 The righteous will never be shaken, But the wicked will not dwell in the land. Pro 10:30 δίκαιος τὸν αἰῶνα οὐκ ἐνδώσει ἀσεβεῖς δὲ οὐκ οἰκήσουσιν γῆν
Pro 10:31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out. Pro 10:31 The mouth of the righteous flows with wisdom, But the perverted tongue will be cut out. Pro 10:31 στόμα δικαίου ἀποστάζει σοφίαν γλῶσσα δὲ ἀδίκου ἐξολεῖται
Pro 10:32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness. Pro 10:32 The lips of the righteous bring forth what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverted. Pro 10:32 χείλη ἀνδρῶν δικαίων ἀποστάζει χάριτας στόμα δὲ ἀσεβῶν ἀποστρέφεται
