Proverbs 13
Pro 13:1 A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke. Pro 13:1 A wise son accepts his father's discipline, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke. Pro 13:1 υἱὸς πανοῦργος ὑπήκοος πατρί υἱὸς δὲ ἀνήκοος ἐν ἀπωλείᾳ
Pro 13:2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. Pro 13:2 From the fruit of a man's mouth he enjoys good, But the desire of the treacherous is violence. Pro 13:2 ἀπὸ καρπῶν δικαιοσύνης φάγεται ἀγαθός ψυχαὶ δὲ παρανόμων ὀλοῦνται ἄωροι
Pro 13:3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. Pro 13:3 The one who guards his mouth preserves his life; The one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. Pro 13:3 ὃς φυλάσσει τὸ ἑαυτοῦ στόμα τηρεῖ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ψυχήν ὁ δὲ προπετὴς χείλεσιν πτοήσει ἑαυτόν
Pro 13:4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. Pro 13:4 The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, But the soul of the diligent is made fat. Pro 13:4 ἐν ἐπιθυμίαις ἐστὶν πᾶς ἀεργός χεῖρες δὲ ἀνδρείων ἐν ἐπιμελείᾳ
Pro 13:5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame. Pro 13:5 A righteous man hates falsehood, But a wicked man acts disgustingly and shamefully. Pro 13:5 λόγον ἄδικον μισεῖ δίκαιος ἀσεβὴς δὲ αἰσχύνεται καὶ οὐχ ἕξει παρρησίαν
Pro 13:6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner. Pro 13:6 Righteousness guards the one whose way is blameless, But wickedness subverts the sinner. Pro 13:6 δικαιοσύνη φυλάσσει ἀκάκους τοὺς δὲ ἀσεβεῖς φαύλους ποιεῖ ἁμαρτία
Pro 13:7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches. Pro 13:7 There is one who pretends to be rich, but has nothing; Another pretends to be poor, but has great wealth. Pro 13:7 εἰσὶν οἱ πλουτίζοντες ἑαυτοὺς μηδὲν ἔχοντες καὶ εἰσὶν οἱ ταπεινοῦντες ἑαυτοὺς ἐν πολλῷ πλούτῳ
Pro 13:8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke. Pro 13:8 The ransom of a man's life is his wealth, But the poor hears no rebuke. Pro 13:8 λύτρον ἀνδρὸς ψυχῆς ὁ ἴδιος πλοῦτος πτωχὸς δὲ οὐχ ὑφίσταται ἀπειλήν
Pro 13:9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. Pro 13:9 The light of the righteous rejoices, But the lamp of the wicked goes out. Pro 13:9 φῶς δικαίοις διὰ παντός φῶς δὲ ἀσεβῶν σβέννυται ~ ψυχαὶ δόλιαι πλανῶνται ἐν ἁμαρτίαις δίκαιοι δὲ οἰκτίρουσιν καὶ ἐλεῶσιν
Pro 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. Pro 13:10 Through insolence comes nothing but strife, But wisdom is with those who receive counsel. Pro 13:10 κακὸς μεθ᾽ ὕβρεως πράσσει κακά οἱ δὲ ἑαυτῶν ἐπιγνώμονες σοφοί
Pro 13:11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase. Pro 13:11 Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles, But the one who gathers by labor increases it. Pro 13:11 ὕπαρξις ἐπισπουδαζομένη μετὰ ἀνομίας ἐλάσσων γίνεται ὁ δὲ συνάγων ἑαυτῷ μετ᾽ εὐσεβείας πληθυνθήσεται δίκαιος οἰκτίρει καὶ κιχρᾷ
Pro 13:12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. Pro 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life. Pro 13:12 κρείσσων ἐναρχόμενος βοηθῶν καρδίᾳ τοῦ ἐπαγγελλομένου καὶ εἰς ἐλπίδα ἄγοντος δένδρον γὰρ ζωῆς ἐπιθυμία ἀγαθή
Pro 13:13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded. Pro 13:13 The one who despises the word will be in debt to it, But the one who fears the commandment will be rewarded. Pro 13:13 ὃς καταφρονεῖ πράγματος καταφρονηθήσεται ὑπ᾽ αὐτοῦ ὁ δὲ φοβούμενος ἐντολήν οὗτος ὑγιαίνει ~ υἱῷ δολίῳ οὐδὲν ἔσται ἀγαθόν οἰκέτῃ δὲ σοφῷ εὔοδοι ἔσονται πράξεις καὶ κατευθυνθήσεται ἡ ὁδὸς αὐτοῦ
Pro 13:14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. Pro 13:14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, To turn aside from the snares of death. Pro 13:14 νόμος σοφοῦ πηγὴ ζωῆς ὁ δὲ ἄνους ὑπὸ παγίδος θανεῖται
Pro 13:15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard. Pro 13:15 Good understanding produces favor, But the way of the treacherous is hard. Pro 13:15 σύνεσις ἀγαθὴ δίδωσιν χάριν τὸ δὲ γνῶναι νόμον διανοίας ἐστὶν ἀγαθῆς ὁδοὶ δὲ καταφρονούντων ἐν ἀπωλείᾳ
Pro 13:16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly. Pro 13:16 Every prudent man acts with knowledge, But a fool displays folly. Pro 13:16 πᾶς πανοῦργος πράσσει μετὰ γνώσεως ὁ δὲ ἄφρων ἐξεπέτασεν ἑαυτοῦ κακίαν
Pro 13:17 A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health. Pro 13:17 A wicked messenger falls into adversity, But a faithful envoy brings healing. Pro 13:17 βασιλεὺς θρασὺς ἐμπεσεῖται εἰς κακά ἄγγελος δὲ πιστὸς ῥύσεται αὐτόν
Pro 13:18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. Pro 13:18 Poverty and shame will come to him who neglects discipline, But he who regards reproof will be honored. Pro 13:18 πενίαν καὶ ἀτιμίαν ἀφαιρεῖται παιδεία ὁ δὲ φυλάσσων ἐλέγχους δοξασθήσεται
Pro 13:19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil. Pro 13:19 Desire realized is sweet to the soul, But it is an abomination to fools to turn away from evil. Pro 13:19 ἐπιθυμίαι εὐσεβῶν ἡδύνουσιν ψυχήν ἔργα δὲ ἀσεβῶν μακρὰν ἀπὸ γνώσεως
Pro 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Pro 13:20 He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will suffer harm. Pro 13:20 ὁ συμπορευόμενος σοφοῖς σοφὸς ἔσται ὁ δὲ συμπορευόμενος ἄφροσι γνωσθήσεται
Pro 13:21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed. Pro 13:21 Adversity pursues sinners, But the righteous will be rewarded with prosperity. Pro 13:21 ἁμαρτάνοντας καταδιώξεται κακά τοὺς δὲ δικαίους καταλήμψεται ἀγαθά
Pro 13:22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. Pro 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, And the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous. Pro 13:22 ἀγαθὸς ἀνὴρ κληρονομήσει υἱοὺς υἱῶν θησαυρίζεται δὲ δικαίοις πλοῦτος ἀσεβὼν
Pro 13:23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment. Pro 13:23 Abundant food is in the fallow ground of the poor, But it is swept away by injustice. Pro 13:23 δίκαιοι ποιήσουσιν ἐν πλούτῳ ἔτη πολλά ἄδικοι δὲ ἀπολοῦνται συντόμως
Pro 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Pro 13:24 He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently. Pro 13:24 ὃς φείδεται τῆς βακτηρίας μισεῖ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ὁ δὲ ἀγαπῶν ἐπιμελῶς παιδεύει
Pro 13:25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want. Pro 13:25 The righteous has enough to satisfy his appetite, But the stomach of the wicked is in need. Pro 13:25 δίκαιος ἔσθων ἐμπιπλᾷ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ψυχαὶ δὲ ἀσεβῶν ἐνδεεῖς
