Proverbs 20
Pro 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Pro 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise. Pro 20:1 ἀκόλαστον οἶνος καὶ ὑβριστικὸν μέθη πᾶς δὲ ὁ συμμειγνύμενος αὐτῇ οὐκ ἔσται σοφός
Pro 20:2 The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul. Pro 20:2 The terror of a king is like the growling of a lion; He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life. Pro 20:2 οὐ διαφέρει ἀπειλὴ βασιλέως θυμοῦ λέοντος ὁ δὲ παροξύνων αὐτὸν ἁμαρτάνει εἰς τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ψυχήν
Pro 20:3 It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling. Pro 20:3 Keeping away from strife is an honor for a man, But any fool will quarrel. Pro 20:3 δόξα ἀνδρὶ ἀποστρέφεσθαι λοιδορίας πᾶς δὲ ἄφρων τοιούτοις συμπλέκεται
Pro 20:4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing. Pro 20:4 The sluggard does not plow after the autumn, So he begs during the harvest and has nothing. Pro 20:4 ὀνειδιζόμενος ὀκνηρὸς οὐκ αἰσχύνεται ὡσαύτως καὶ ὁ δανιζόμενος σῖτον ἐν ἀμήτῳ
Pro 20:5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out. Pro 20:5 A plan in the heart of a man is like deep water, But a man of understanding draws it out. Pro 20:5 ὕδωρ βαθὺ βουλὴ ἐν καρδίᾳ ἀνδρός ἀνὴρ δὲ φρόνιμος ἐξαντλήσει αὐτήν
Pro 20:6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? Pro 20:6 Many a man proclaims his own loyalty, But who can find a trustworthy man? Pro 20:6 μέγα ἄνθρωπος καὶ τίμιον ἀνὴρ ἐλεήμων ἄνδρα δὲ πιστὸν ἔργον εὑρεῖν
Pro 20:7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him. Pro 20:7 A righteous man who walks in his integrity-- How blessed are his sons after him. Pro 20:7 ὃς ἀναστρέφεται ἄμωμος ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ μακαρίους τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ καταλείψει
Pro 20:8 A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes. Pro 20:8 A king who sits on the throne of justice Disperses all evil with his eyes. Pro 20:8 ὅταν βασιλεὺς δίκαιος καθίσῃ ἐπὶ θρόνου οὐκ ἐναντιοῦται ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτοῦ πᾶν πονηρόν
Pro 20:9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? Pro 20:9 Who can say, "I have cleansed my heart, I am pure from my sin"? Pro 20:9 τίς καυχήσεται ἁγνὴν ἔχειν τὴν καρδίαν ἢ τίς παρρησιάσεται καθαρὸς εἶναι ἀπὸ ἁμαρτιῶν ~ κακολογοῦντος πατέρα ἢ μητέρα σβεσθήσεται λαμπτήρ αἱ δὲ κόραι τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτοῦ ὄψονται σκότος ~ μερὶς ἐπισπουδαζομένη ἐν πρώτοις ἐν τοῖς τελευταίοις οὐκ εὐλογηθήσεται ~ μὴ εἴπῃς τείσομαι τὸν ἐχθρόν ἀλλὰ ὑπόμεινον τὸν κύριον ἵνα σοι βοηθήσῃ

Pro 20:24 Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way? Pro 20:24 Man's steps are ordained by the Lord, How then can man understand his way? Pro 20:24 παρὰ κυρίου εὐθύνεται τὰ διαβήματα ἀνδρί θνητὸς δὲ πῶς ἂν νοήσαι τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ
Pro 20:25 It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry. Pro 20:25 It is a trap for a man to say rashly, "It is holy!" And after the vows to make inquiry. Pro 20:25 παγὶς ἀνδρὶ ταχύ τι τῶν ἰδίων ἁγιάσαι μετὰ γὰρ τὸ εὔξασθαι μετανοεῖν γίνεται

Pro 20:27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly. Pro 20:27 The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching all the innermost parts of his being. Pro 20:27 φῶς κυρίου πνοὴ ἀνθρώπων ὃς ἐρευνᾷ ταμίεια κοιλίας
Pro 20:28 Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy. Pro 20:28 Loyalty and truth preserve the king, And he upholds his throne by righteousness. Pro 20:28 ἐλεημοσύνη καὶ ἀλήθεια φυλακὴ βασιλεῖ καὶ περικυκλώσουσιν ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ τὸν θρόνον αὐτοῦ
Pro 20:29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head. Pro 20:29 The glory of young men is their strength, And the honor of old men is their gray hair. Pro 20:29 κόσμος νεανίαις σοφία δόξα δὲ πρεσβυτέρων πολιαί
Pro 20:30 The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly. Pro 20:30 Stripes that wound scour away evil, And strokes reach the innermost parts. Pro 20:30 ὑπώπια καὶ συντρίμματα συναντᾷ κακοῖς πληγαὶ δὲ εἰς ταμίεια κοιλίας
