Proverbs 24
Pro 24:1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them. Pro 24:1 Do not be envious of evil men, Nor desire to be with them; Pro 24:1 υἱέ μὴ ζηλώσῃς κακοὺς ἄνδρας μηδὲ ἐπιθυμήσῃς εἶναι μετ᾽ αὐτῶν
Pro 24:2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief. Pro 24:2 For their minds devise violence, And their lips talk of trouble. Pro 24:2 ψεύδη γὰρ μελετᾷ ἡ καρδία αὐτῶν καὶ πόνους τὰ χείλη αὐτῶν λαλεῖ
Pro 24:3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: Pro 24:3 By wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; Pro 24:3 μετὰ σοφίας οἰκοδομεῖται οἶκος καὶ μετὰ συνέσεως ἀνορθοῦται
Pro 24:4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Pro 24:4 And by knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches. Pro 24:4 μετὰ αἰσθήσεως ἐμπίμπλαται ταμίεια ἐκ παντὸς πλούτου τιμίου καὶ καλοῦ
Pro 24:5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. Pro 24:5 A wise man is strong, And a man of knowledge increases power. Pro 24:5 κρείσσων σοφὸς ἰσχυροῦ καὶ ἀνὴρ φρόνησιν ἔχων γεωργίου μεγάλου
Pro 24:6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety. Pro 24:6 For by wise guidance you will wage war, And in abundance of counselors there is victory. Pro 24:6 μετὰ κυβερνήσεως γίνεται πόλεμος βοήθεια δὲ μετὰ καρδίας βουλευτικῆς
Pro 24:7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate. Pro 24:7 Wisdom is too exalted for a fool, He does not open his mouth in the gate. Pro 24:7 σοφία καὶ ἔννοια ἀγαθὴ ἐν πύλαις σοφῶν σοφοὶ οὐκ ἐκκλίνουσιν ἐκ στόματος κυρίου
Pro 24:8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person. Pro 24:8 One who plans to do evil, Men will call a schemer. Pro 24:8 ἀλλὰ λογίζονται ἐν συνεδρίοις ἀπαιδεύτοις συναντᾷ θάνατος
Pro 24:9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men. Pro 24:9 The devising of folly is sin, And the scoffer is an abomination to men. Pro 24:9 ἀποθνῄσκει δὲ ἄφρων ἐν ἁμαρτίαις ἀκαθαρσία δὲ ἀνδρὶ λοιμῷ ἐμμολυνθήσεται
Pro 24:10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. Pro 24:10 If you are slack in the day of distress, Your strength is limited. Pro 24:10 ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κακῇ καὶ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θλίψεως ἕως ἂν ἐκλίπῃ
Pro 24:11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; Pro 24:11 Deliver those who are being taken away to death, And those who are staggering to slaughter, Oh hold them back. Pro 24:11 ῥῦσαι ἀγομένους εἰς θάνατον καὶ ἐκπρίου κτεινομένους μὴ φείσῃ
Pro 24:12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works? Pro 24:12 If you say, "See, we did not know this," Does He not consider it who weighs the hearts? And does He not know it who keeps your soul? And will He not render to man according to his work? Pro 24:12 ἐὰν δὲ εἴπῃς οὐκ οἶδα τοῦτον γίνωσκε ὅτι κύριος καρδίας πάντων γινώσκει καὶ ὁ πλάσας πνοὴν πᾶσιν αὐτὸς οἶδεν πάντα ὃς ἀποδίδωσιν ἑκάστῳ κατὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ
Pro 24:13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: Pro 24:13 My son, eat honey, for it is good, Yes, the honey from the comb is sweet to your taste; Pro 24:13 φάγε μέλι υἱέ ἀγαθὸν γὰρ κηρίον ἵνα γλυκανθῇ σου ὁ φάρυγξ
Pro 24:14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off. Pro 24:14 Know that wisdom is thus for your soul; If you find it, then there will be a future, And your hope will not be cut off. Pro 24:14 οὕτως αἰσθήσῃ σοφίαν τῇ σῇ ψυχῇ ἐὰν γὰρ εὕρῃς ἔσται καλὴ ἡ τελευτή σου καὶ ἐλπίς σε οὐκ ἐγκαταλείψει
Pro 24:15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place: Pro 24:15 Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; Do not destroy his resting place; Pro 24:15 μὴ προσαγάγῃς ἀσεβῆ νομῇ δικαίων μηδὲ ἀπατηθῇς χορτασίᾳ κοιλίας
Pro 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Pro 24:16 For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity. Pro 24:16 ἑπτάκι γὰρ πεσεῖται ὁ δίκαιος καὶ ἀναστήσεται οἱ δὲ ἀσεβεῖς ἀσθενήσουσιν ἐν κακοῖς
Pro 24:17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: Pro 24:17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; Pro 24:17 ἐὰν πέσῃ ὁ ἐχθρός σου μὴ ἐπιχαρῇς αὐτῷ ἐν δὲ τῷ ὑποσκελίσματι αὐτοῦ μὴ ἐπαίρου
Pro 24:18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him. Pro 24:18 Or the Lord will see it and be displeased, And turn His anger away from him. Pro 24:18 ὅτι ὄψεται κύριος καὶ οὐκ ἀρέσει αὐτῷ καὶ ἀποστρέψει τὸν θυμὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ
Pro 24:19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked: Pro 24:19 Do not fret because of evildoers Or be envious of the wicked; Pro 24:19 μὴ χαῖρε ἐπὶ κακοποιοῖς μηδὲ ζήλου ἁμαρτωλούς
Pro 24:20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out. Pro 24:20 For there will be no future for the evil man; The lamp of the wicked will be put out. Pro 24:20 οὐ γὰρ μὴ γένηται ἔκγονα πονηρῶν λαμπτὴρ δὲ ἀσεβῶν σβεσθήσεται
Pro 24 21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change Pro 24:21 My son, fear the Lord and the king; Do not associate with those who are given to change, Pro 24:21 φοβοῦ τὸν θεόν υἱέ καὶ βασιλέα καὶ μηθετέρῳ αὐτῶν ἀπειθήσῃς
Pro 24:22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both? Pro 24:22 For their calamity will rise suddenly, And who knows the ruin that comes from both of them? Pro 24:22 ἐξαίφνης γὰρ τείσονται τοὺς ἀσεβεῖς τὰς δὲ τιμωρίας ἀμφοτέρων τίς γνώσεται ~ λόγον φυλασσόμενος υἱὸς ἀπωλείας ἐκτὸς ἔσται δεχόμενος δὲ ἐδέξατο αὐτόν ~ μηδὲν ψεῦδος ἀπὸ γλώσσης βασιλεῖ λεγέσθω καὶ οὐδὲν ψεῦδος ἀπὸ γλώσσης αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ ἐξέλθῃ ~ μάχαιρα γλῶσσα βασιλέως καὶ οὐ σαρκίνη ὃς δ᾽ ἂν παραδοθῇ συντριβήσεται ~ ἐὰν γὰρ ὀξυνθῇ ὁ θυμὸς αὐτοῦ σὺν νεύροις ἀνθρώπους ἀναλίσκει ~ καὶ ὀστᾶ ἀνθρώπων κατατρώγει καὶ συγκαίει ὥσπερ φλὸξ ὥστε ἄβρωτα εἶναι νεοσσοῖς ἀετῶν
Pro 24:23 These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment. Pro 24:23 These also are sayings of the wise. To show partiality in judgment is not good. Pro 24:23 ταῦτα δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν τοῖς σοφοῖς ἐπιγινώσκειν αἰδεῖσθαι πρόσωπον ἐν κρίσει οὐ καλόν
Pro 24:24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou are righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him: Pro 24:24 He who says to the wicked, "You are righteous," Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him; Pro 24:24 ὁ εἰπὼν τὸν ἀσεβῆ δίκαιός ἐστιν ἐπικατάρατος λαοῖς ἔσται καὶ μισητὸς εἰς ἔθνη
Pro 24:25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them. Pro 24:25 But to those who rebuke the wicked will be delight, And a good blessing will come upon them. Pro 24:25 οἱ δὲ ἐλέγχοντες βελτίους φανοῦνται ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς δὲ ἥξει εὐλογία ἀγαθή
Pro 24:26 Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer. Pro 24:26 He kisses the lips Who gives a right answer. Pro 24:26 χείλη δὲ φιλήσουσιν ἀποκρινόμενα λόγους ἀγαθούς
Pro 24:27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house. Pro 24:27 Prepare your work outside And make it ready for yourself in the field; Afterwards, then, build your house. Pro 24:27 ἑτοίμαζε εἰς τὴν ἔξοδον τὰ ἔργα σου καὶ παρασκευάζου εἰς τὸν ἀγρὸν καὶ πορεύου κατόπισθέν μου καὶ ἀνοικοδομήσεις τὸν οἶκόν σου
Pro 24:28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips. Pro 24:28 Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, And do not deceive with your lips. Pro 24:28 μὴ ἴσθι ψευδὴς μάρτυς ἐπὶ σὸν πολίτην μηδὲ πλατύνου σοῖς χείλεσιν
Pro 24:29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work. Pro 24:29 Do not say, "Thus I shall do to him as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work." Pro 24:29 μὴ εἴπῃς ὃν τρόπον ἐχρήσατό μοι χρήσομαι αὐτῷ τείσομαι δὲ αὐτὸν ἅ με ἠδίκησεν
Pro 24:30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; Pro 24:30 I passed by the field of the sluggard And by the vineyard of the man lacking sense, Pro 24:30 ὥσπερ γεώργιον ἀνὴρ ἄφρων καὶ ὥσπερ ἀμπελὼν ἄνθρωπος ἐνδεὴς φρενῶν
Pro 24:31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. Pro 24:31 And behold, it was completely overgrown with thistles; Its surface was covered with nettles, And its stone wall was broken down. Pro 24:31 ἐὰν ἀφῇς αὐτόν χερσωθήσεται καὶ χορτομανήσει ὅλος καὶ γίνεται ἐκλελειμμένος οἱ δὲ φραγμοὶ τῶν λίθων αὐτοῦ κατασκάπτονται
Pro 24:32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. Pro 24:32 When I saw, I reflected upon it; I looked, and received instruction. Pro 24:32 ὕστερον ἐγὼ μετενόησα ἐπέβλεψα τοῦ ἐκλέξασθαι παιδείαν
Pro 24:33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: Pro 24:33 "A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest," Pro 24:33 ὀλίγον νυστάζω ὀλίγον δὲ καθυπνῶ ὀλίγον δὲ ἐναγκαλίζομαι χερσὶν στήθη
Pro 24:34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man. Pro 24:34 Then your poverty will come as a robber And your want like an armed man. Pro 24:34 ἐὰν δὲ τοῦτο ποιῇς ἥξει προπορευομένη ἡ πενία σου καὶ ἡ ἔνδειά σου ὥσπερ ἀγαθὸς δρομεύς
