Song of Solomon 8
SS 8:1 O that thou wert as my brother, that sucked the breasts of my mother! when I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; yea, I should not be despised. (kjv) Sos 8:1 "Oh that you were like a brother to me Who nursed at my mother's breasts. If I found you outdoors, I would kiss you; No one would despise me, either. Sol 8:1 τίς δῴη σε ἀδελφιδόν μου θηλάζοντα μαστοὺς μητρός μου εὑροῦσά σε ἔξω φιλήσω σε καί γε οὐκ ἐξουδενώσουσίν μοι
SS 8:2 I would lead thee, and bring thee into my mother's house, who would instruct me: I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate. (kjv) Sos 8:2 "I would lead you and bring you Into the house of my mother, who used to instruct me; I would give you spiced wine to drink from the juice of my pomegranates. Sol 8:2 παραλήμψομαί σε εἰσάξω σε εἰς οἶκον μητρός μου καὶ εἰς ταμίειον τῆς συλλαβούσης με ποτιῶ σε ἀπὸ οἴνου τοῦ μυρεψικοῦ ἀπὸ νάματος ῥοῶν μου
SS 8:3 His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me. (kjv) Sos 8:3 "Let his left hand be under my head And his right hand embrace me." Sol 8:3 εὐώνυμος αὐτοῦ ὑπὸ τὴν κεφαλήν μου καὶ ἡ δεξιὰ αὐτοῦ περιλήμψεταί με
SS 8:4 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, until he please. (kjv) Sos 8:4 "I want you to swear, O daughters of Jerusalem, Do not arouse or awaken my love Until she pleases." Sol 8:4 ὥρκισα ὑμᾶς θυγατέρες Ιερουσαλημ ἐν ταῖς δυνάμεσιν καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἰσχύσεσιν τοῦ ἀγροῦ τί ἐγείρητε καὶ τί ἐξεγείρητε τὴν ἀγάπην ἕως ἂν θελήσῃ
SS 8 5 Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother brought thee forth there she brought thee forth that bare thee. (kjv) Sos 8:5 "Who is this coming up from the wilderness Leaning on her beloved?" "Beneath the apple tree I awakened you; There your mother was in labor with you, There she was in labor and gave you birth. Sol 8:5 τίς αὕτη ἡ ἀναβαίνουσα λελευκανθισμένη ἐπιστηριζομένη ἐπὶ τὸν ἀδελφιδὸν αὐτῆς ὑπὸ μῆλον ἐξήγειρά σε ἐκεῖ ὠδίνησέν σε ἡ μήτηρ σου ἐκεῖ ὠδίνησέν σε ἡ τεκοῦσά σου
SS 8 6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. (kjv) Sos 8:6 "Put me like a seal over your heart, Like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, Jealousy is as severe as Sheol; Its flashes are flashes of fire, The very flame of the Lord. Sol 8:6 θές με ὡς σφραγῖδα ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν σου ὡς σφραγῖδα ἐπὶ τὸν βραχίονά σου ὅτι κραταιὰ ὡς θάνατος ἀγάπη σκληρὸς ὡς ᾅδης ζῆλος περίπτερα αὐτῆς περίπτερα πυρός φλόγες αὐτῆς
SS 8:7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned. (kjv) Sos 8:7 "Many waters cannot quench love, Nor will rivers overflow it; If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love, It would be utterly despised." Sol 8:7 ὕδωρ πολὺ οὐ δυνήσεται σβέσαι τὴν ἀγάπην καὶ ποταμοὶ οὐ συγκλύσουσιν αὐτήν ἐὰν δῷ ἀνὴρ τὸν πάντα βίον αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ ἀγάπῃ ἐξουδενώσει ἐξουδενώσουσιν αὐτόν
SS 8:8 We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts: what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for? (kjv) Sos 8:8 "We have a little sister, And she has no breasts; What shall we do for our sister On the day when she is spoken for? Sol 8:8 ἀδελφὴ ἡμῖν μικρὰ καὶ μαστοὺς οὐκ ἔχει τί ποιήσωμεν τῇ ἀδελφῇ ἡμῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ ἐὰν λαληθῇ ἐν αὐτῇ
SS 8:9 If she be a wall, we will build upon her a palace of silver: and if she be a door, we will inclose her with boards of cedar. (kjv) Sos 8:9 "If she is a wall, We will build on her a battlement of silver; But if she is a door, We will barricade her with planks of cedar." Sol 8:9 εἰ τεῖχός ἐστιν οἰκοδομήσωμεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὴν ἐπάλξεις ἀργυρᾶς καὶ εἰ θύρα ἐστίν διαγράψωμεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὴν σανίδα κεδρίνην
SS 8:10 I am a wall, and my breasts like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favour. (kjv) Sos 8:10 "I was a wall, and my breasts were like towers; Then I became in his eyes as one who finds peace. Sol 8:10 ἐγὼ τεῖχος καὶ μαστοί μου ὡς πύργοι ἐγὼ ἤμην ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτοῦ ὡς εὑρίσκουσα εἰρήνην
SS 8:11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baalhamon; he let out the vineyard unto keepers; every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand pieces of silver. (kjv) Sos 8:11 "Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; He entrusted the vineyard to caretakers. Each one was to bring a thousand shekels of silver for its fruit. Sol 8:11 ἀμπελὼν ἐγενήθη τῷ Σαλωμων ἐν Βεελαμων ἔδωκεν τὸν ἀμπελῶνα αὐτοῦ τοῖς τηροῦσιν ἀνὴρ οἴσει ἐν καρπῷ αὐτοῦ χιλίους ἀργυρίου
SS 8:12 My vineyard, which is mine, is before me: thou, O Solomon, must have a thousand, and those that keep the fruit thereof two hundred. (kjv) Sos 8:12 "My very own vineyard is at my disposal; The thousand shekels are for you, Solomon, And two hundred are for those who take care of its fruit." Sol 8:12 ἀμπελών μου ἐμὸς ἐνώπιόν μου οἱ χίλιοι σοί Σαλωμων καὶ οἱ διακόσιοι τοῖς τηροῦσι τὸν καρπὸν αὐτοῦ
SS 8:13 Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions hearken to thy voice: cause me to hear it. (kjv) Sos 8:13 "O you who sit in the gardens, My companions are listening for your voice-- Let me hear it!" Sol 8:13 ὁ καθήμενος ἐν κήποις ἑταῖροι προσέχοντες τῇ φωνῇ σου ἀκούτισόν με
SS 8:14 Make haste, my beloved, and be thou like to a roe or to a young hart upon the mountains of spices.(kjv) Sos 8:14 "Hurry, my beloved, And be like a gazelle or a young stag On the mountains of spices." Sol 8:14 φύγε ἀδελφιδέ μου καὶ ὁμοιώθητι τῇ δορκάδι ἢ τῷ νεβρῷ τῶν ἐλάφων ἐπὶ ὄρη ἀρωμάτων
