Lam 5:1 Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.

Lam 5:1 μνήσθητι κύριε ὅ τι ἐγενήθη ἡμῖν ἐπίβλεψον καὶ ἰδὲ τὸν ὀνειδισμὸν ἡμῶν

Lam 5:2 Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.

Lam 5:2 κληρονομία ἡμῶν μετεστράφη ἀλλοτρίοις οἱ οἶκοι ἡμῶν ξένοις

Lam 5:3 We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.

Lam 5:3 ὀρφανοὶ ἐγενήθημεν οὐχ ὑπάρχει πατήρ μητέρες ἡμῶν ὡς αἱ χῆραι

Lam 5:4 We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.
|
Lam 5:4 We have to pay for our drinking water, Our wood comes to us at a price.

Lam 5:4 ἐξ ἡμερῶν ἡμῶν ξύλα ἡμῶν ἐν ἀλλάγματι ἦλθεν
|
Lam 5:5 Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest.
|
Lam 5:5 Our pursuers are at our necks; We are worn out, there is no rest for us.

Lam 5:5 ἐπὶ τὸν τράχηλον ἡμῶν ἐδιώχθημεν ἐκοπιάσαμεν οὐκ ἀνεπαύθημεν
|
Lam 5:6 We have given the hand to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.

Lam 5:7 οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν ἥμαρτον οὐχ ὑπάρχουσιν ἡμεῖς τὰ ἀνομήματα αὐτῶν ὑπέσχομεν
|
Lam 5:8 Servants have ruled over us: there is none that doth deliver us out of their hand.
|
Lam 5:8 Slaves rule over us; There is no one to deliver us from their hand.
|
Lam 5:8 δοῦλοι ἐκυρίευσαν ἡμῶν λυτρούμενος οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῶν

Lam 5:9 We gat our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness.

Lam 5:9 ἐν ταῖς ψυχαῖς ἡμῶν εἰσοίσομεν ἄρτον ἡμῶν ἀπὸ προσώπου ῥομφαίας τῆς ἐρήμου

Lam 5:10 Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine.
|
Lam 5:10 Our skin has become as hot as an oven, Because of the burning heat of famine.

Lam 5:10 τὸ δέρμα ἡμῶν ὡς κλίβανος ἐπελειώθη συνεσπάσθησαν ἀπὸ προσώπου καταιγίδων λιμοῦ

Lam 5:11 They ravished the women in Zion, and the maids in the cities of Judah.
|
Lam 5:11 They ravished the women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah.
|
Lam 5:11 γυναῖκας ἐν Σιων ἐταπείνωσαν παρθένους ἐν πόλεσιν Ιουδα
|
Lam 5:12 Princes are hanged up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honoured.
|
Lam 5:12 Princes were hung by their hands; Elders were not respected.
|
Lam 5:12 ἄρχοντες ἐν χερσὶν αὐτῶν ἐκρεμάσθησαν πρεσβύτεροι οὐκ ἐδοξάσθησαν
|
Lam 5:13 They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood.
|
Lam 5:13 Young men worked at the grinding mill, And youths stumbled under loads of wood.
|
Lam 5:13 ἐκλεκτοὶ κλαυθμὸν ἀνέλαβον καὶ νεανίσκοι ἐν ξύλῳ ἠσθένησαν
|
Lam 5:14 The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick.
|
Lam 5:14 Elders are gone from the gate, Young men from their music.
|
Lam 5:14 καὶ πρεσβῦται ἀπὸ πύλης κατέπαυσαν ἐκλεκτοὶ ἐκ ψαλμῶν αὐτῶν κατέπαυσαν
|
Lam 5:15 The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.
|
Lam 5:15 The joy of our hearts has ceased; Our dancing has been turned into mourning.
|
Lam 5:15 κατέλυσεν χαρὰ καρδίας ἡμῶν ἐστράφη εἰς πένθος ὁ χορὸς ἡμῶν
|
Lam 5:16 The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!
|

|
Lam 5:16 ἔπεσεν ὁ στέφανος τῆς κεφαλῆς ἡμῶν οὐαὶ δὴ ἡμῖν ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν

Lam 5:17 For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes are dim.
|
Lam 5:17 Because of this our heart is faint, Because of these things our eyes are dim;

Lam 5:17 περὶ τούτου ἐγενήθη ὀδυνηρὰ ἡ καρδία ἡμῶν περὶ τούτου ἐσκότασαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἡμῶν
|
Lam 5:18 Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.
|
Lam 5:18 Because of Mount Zion which lies desolate, Foxes prowl in it.
|
Lam 5:18 ἐπ᾽ ὄρος Σιων ὅτι ἠφανίσθη ἀλώπεκες διῆλθον ἐν αὐτῇ
|
Lam 5:19 Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation.
|
Lam 5:19 You, O Lord, rule forever; Your throne is from generation to generation.
|
Lam 5:19 σὺ δέ κύριε εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα κατοικήσεις ὁ θρόνος σου εἰς γενεὰν καὶ γενεάν
|
Lam 5:20 Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time?
|
Lam 5:20 Why do You forget us forever? Why do You forsake us so long?
|
Lam 5:20 ἵνα τί εἰς νεῖκος ἐπιλήσῃ ἡμῶν καταλείψεις ἡμᾶς εἰς μακρότητα ἡμερῶν
|
Lam 5:21 Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.
|
Lam 5:21 Restore us to You, O Lord, that we may be restored; Renew our days as of old,
|
Lam 5:21 ἐπίστρεψον ἡμᾶς κύριε πρὸς σέ καὶ ἐπιστραφησόμεθα καὶ ἀνακαίνισον ἡμέρας ἡμῶν καθὼς ἔμπροσθεν
|
Lam 5:22 But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us.
|
Lam 5:22 Unless You have utterly rejected us And are exceedingly angry with us.
|
Lam 5:22 ὅτι ἀπωθούμενος ἀπώσω ἡμᾶς ὠργίσθης ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς ἕως σφόδρα
