John 2
Jn 2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: Jn 2:1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; Joh 2:1 καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ γάμος ἐγένετο ἐν κανὰ τῆς γαλιλαίας, καὶ ἦν ἡ μήτηρ τοῦ ἰησοῦ ἐκεῖ·
Jn 2:2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. Jn 2:2 and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. Joh 2:2 ἐκλήθη δὲ καὶ ὁ ἰησοῦς καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν γάμον.
Jn 2:3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jn 2:3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus *said to Him, "They have no wine." Joh 2:3 καὶ ὑστερήσαντος οἴνου λέγει ἡ μήτηρ τοῦ ἰησοῦ πρὸς αὐτόν, οἶνον οὐκ ἔχουσιν.
Jn 2:4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. Jn 2:4 And Jesus *said to her, "Woman, what does that have to do with us? My hour has not yet come." Joh 2:4 [καὶ] λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ ἰησοῦς, τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί, γύναι; οὔπω ἥκει ἡ ὥρα μου.
Jn 2:5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. Jn 2:5 His mother *said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it." Joh 2:5 λέγει ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ τοῖς διακόνοις, ὅ τι ἂν λέγῃ ὑμῖν ποιήσατε.
Jn 2:6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jn 2:6 Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing twenty or thirty gallons each. Joh 2:6 ἦσαν δὲ ἐκεῖ λίθιναι ὑδρίαι ἓξ κατὰ τὸν καθαρισμὸν τῶν ἰουδαίων κείμεναι, χωροῦσαι ἀνὰ μετρητὰς δύο ἢ τρεῖς.
Jn 2:7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. Jn 2:7 Jesus *said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water." So they filled them up to the brim. Joh 2:7 λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς, γεμίσατε τὰς ὑδρίας ὕδατος. καὶ ἐγέμισαν αὐτὰς ἕως ἄνω.
Jn 2:8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. Jn 2:8 And He *said to them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it to him. Joh 2:8 καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, ἀντλήσατε νῦν καὶ φέρετε τῶ ἀρχιτρικλίνῳ· οἱ δὲ ἤνεγκαν.
Jn 2:9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, Jn 2:9 When the headwaiter tasted the water which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter *called the bridegroom, Joh 2:9 ὡς δὲ ἐγεύσατο ὁ ἀρχιτρίκλινος τὸ ὕδωρ οἶνον γεγενημένον, καὶ οὐκ ᾔδει πόθεν ἐστίν, οἱ δὲ διάκονοι ᾔδεισαν οἱ ἠντληκότες τὸ ὕδωρ, φωνεῖ τὸν νυμφίον ὁ ἀρχιτρίκλινος
Jn 2:10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. Jn 2:10 and *said to him, "Every man serves the good wine first, and when the people have drunk freely, then he serves the poorer wine; but you have kept the good wine until now." Joh 2:10 καὶ λέγει αὐτῶ, πᾶς ἄνθρωπος πρῶτον τὸν καλὸν οἶνον τίθησιν, καὶ ὅταν μεθυσθῶσιν τὸν ἐλάσσω· σὺ τετήρηκας τὸν καλὸν οἶνον ἕως ἄρτι.
Jn 2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. Jn 2:11 This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him. Joh 2:11 ταύτην ἐποίησεν ἀρχὴν τῶν σημείων ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐν κανὰ τῆς γαλιλαίας καὶ ἐφανέρωσεν τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπίστευσαν εἰς αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ.
Jn 2:12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. Jn 2:12 After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother and His brothers and His disciples; and they stayed there a few days. Joh 2:12 μετὰ τοῦτο κατέβη εἰς καφαρναοὺμ αὐτὸς καὶ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ [αὐτοῦ] καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐκεῖ ἔμειναν οὐ πολλὰς ἡμέρας.
Jn 2:13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Jn 2:13 The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Joh 2:13 καὶ ἐγγὺς ἦν τὸ πάσχα τῶν ἰουδαίων, καὶ ἀνέβη εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα ὁ ἰησοῦς.
Jn 2:14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: Jn 2:14 And He found in the temple those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables. Joh 2:14 καὶ εὖρεν ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ τοὺς πωλοῦντας βόας καὶ πρόβατα καὶ περιστερὰς καὶ τοὺς κερματιστὰς καθημένους,
Jn 2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; Jn 2:15 And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; Joh 2:15 καὶ ποιήσας φραγέλλιον ἐκ σχοινίων πάντας ἐξέβαλεν ἐκ τοῦ ἱεροῦ, τά τε πρόβατα καὶ τοὺς βόας, καὶ τῶν κολλυβιστῶν ἐξέχεεν τὸ κέρμα καὶ τὰς τραπέζας ἀνέτρεψεν,
Jn 2:16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. Jn 2:16 and to those who were selling the doves He said, "Take these things away; stop making My Father's house a place of business." Joh 2:16 καὶ τοῖς τὰς περιστερὰς πωλοῦσιν εἶπεν, ἄρατε ταῦτα ἐντεῦθεν, μὴ ποιεῖτε τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός μου οἶκον ἐμπορίου.
Jn 2:17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. Jn 2:17 His disciples remembered that it was written, "ZEAL FOR YOUR HOUSE WILL CONSUME ME." Joh 2:17 ἐμνήσθησαν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι γεγραμμένον ἐστίν, ὁ ζῆλος τοῦ οἴκου σου καταφάγεταί με.
Jn 2:18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? Jn 2:18 The Jews then said to Him, "What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things?" Joh 2:18 ἀπεκρίθησαν οὗν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῶ, τί σημεῖον δεικνύεις ἡμῖν, ὅτι ταῦτα ποιεῖς;
Jn 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Jn 2:19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." Joh 2:19 ἀπεκρίθη ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, λύσατε τὸν ναὸν τοῦτον καὶ ἐν τρισὶν ἡμέραις ἐγερῶ αὐτόν.
Jn 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? Jn 2:20 The Jews then said, "It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?" Joh 2:20 εἶπαν οὗν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι, τεσσεράκοντα καὶ ἓξ ἔτεσιν οἰκοδομήθη ὁ ναὸς οὖτος, καὶ σὺ ἐν τρισὶν ἡμέραις ἐγερεῖς αὐτόν;
Jn 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body. Jn 2:21 But He was speaking of the temple of His body. Joh 2:21 ἐκεῖνος δὲ ἔλεγεν περὶ τοῦ ναοῦ τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ.
Jn 2:22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. Jn 2:22 So when He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken. Joh 2:22 ὅτε οὗν ἠγέρθη ἐκ νεκρῶν, ἐμνήσθησαν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι τοῦτο ἔλεγεν, καὶ ἐπίστευσαν τῇ γραφῇ καὶ τῶ λόγῳ ὃν εἶπεν ὁ ἰησοῦς.
Jn 2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. Jn 2:23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing. Joh 2:23 ὡς δὲ ἦν ἐν τοῖς ἱεροσολύμοις ἐν τῶ πάσχα ἐν τῇ ἑορτῇ, πολλοὶ ἐπίστευσαν εἰς τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ, θεωροῦντες αὐτοῦ τὰ σημεῖα ἃ ἐποίει·
Jn 2:24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, Jn 2:24 But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men, Joh 2:24 αὐτὸς δὲ ἰησοῦς οὐκ ἐπίστευεν αὐτὸν αὐτοῖς διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν γινώσκειν πάντας,
Jn 2:25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. Jn 2:25 and because He did not need anyone to testify concerning man, for He Himself knew what was in man. Joh 2:25 καὶ ὅτι οὐ χρείαν εἶχεν ἵνα τις μαρτυρήσῃ περὶ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου· αὐτὸς γὰρ ἐγίνωσκεν τί ἦν ἐν τῶ ἀνθρώπῳ.
