John 9
Jn 9:1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. Jn 9:1 As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth.
Jn 9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jn 9:2 And His disciples asked Him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?" Joh 9:2 καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ λέγοντες, ῥαββί, τίς ἥμαρτεν, οὖτος ἢ οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ, ἵνα τυφλὸς γεννηθῇ;
Jn 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. Jn 9:3 Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.
Jn 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. Jn 9:4 We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work.
Jn 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. Jn 9:5 While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world."
Jn 9:6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, Jn 9:6 When He had said this, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes, Joh 9:6 ταῦτα εἰπὼν ἔπτυσεν χαμαὶ καὶ ἐποίησεν πηλὸν ἐκ τοῦ πτύσματος, καὶ ἐπέχρισεν αὐτοῦ τὸν πηλὸν ἐπὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς
Jn 9:7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. Jn 9:7 and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which is translated, Sent). So he went away and washed, and came back seeing.
Jn 9:8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? Jn 9:8 Therefore the neighbors, and those who previously saw him as a beggar, were saying, "Is not this the one who used to sit and beg?" Joh 9:8 οἱ οὗν γείτονες καὶ οἱ θεωροῦντες αὐτὸν τὸ πρότερον ὅτι προσαίτης ἦν ἔλεγον, οὐχ οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ καθήμενος καὶ προσαιτῶν;
Jn 9 9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him but he said, I am he. Jn 9:9 Others were saying, "This is he," still others were saying, "No, but he is like him." He kept saying, "I am the one."
Jn 9:10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened? Jn 9:10 So they were saying to him, "How then were your eyes opened?" Joh 9:10 ἔλεγον οὗν αὐτῶ, πῶς [οὗν] ἠνεῴχθησάν σου οἱ ὀφθαλμοί;
Jn 9:11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight. Jn 9:11 He answered, "The man who is called Jesus made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me, 'Go to Siloam and wash'; so I went away and washed, and I received sight."
Jn 9:12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not. Jn 9:12 They said to him, "Where is He?" He *said, "I do not know."
Jn 9:13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind. Jn 9:13 They *brought to the Pharisees the man who was formerly blind.
Jn 9:14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. Jn 9:14 Now it was a Sabbath on the day when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes.
Jn 9:15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. Jn 9:15 Then the Pharisees also were asking him again how he received his sight. And he said to them, "He applied clay to my eyes, and I washed, and I see."
Jn 9:16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them. Jn 9:16 Therefore some of the Pharisees were saying, "This man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath." But others were saying, "How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?" And there was a division among them.
Jn 9:17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. Jn 9:17 So they *said to the blind man again, "What do you say about Him, since He opened your eyes?" And he said, "He is a prophet."
Jn 9:18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. Jn 9:18 The Jews then did not believe it of him, that he had been blind and had received sight, until they called the parents of the very one who had received his sight, Joh 9:18 οὐκ ἐπίστευσαν οὗν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι περὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἦν τυφλὸς καὶ ἀνέβλεψεν, ἕως ὅτου ἐφώνησαν τοὺς γονεῖς αὐτοῦ τοῦ ἀναβλέψαντος
Jn 9:19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see? Jn 9:19 and questioned them, saying, "Is this your son, who you say was born blind? Then how does he now see?" Joh 9:19 καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτοὺς λέγοντες, οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς ὑμῶν, ὃν ὑμεῖς λέγετε ὅτι τυφλὸς ἐγεννήθη; πῶς οὗν βλέπει ἄρτι;
Jn 9:20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: Jn 9:20 His parents answered them and said, "We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind; Joh 9:20 ἀπεκρίθησαν οὗν οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπαν, οἴδαμεν ὅτι οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς ἡμῶν καὶ ὅτι τυφλὸς ἐγεννήθη·
Jn 9 21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him he shall speak for himself. Jn 9:21 but how he now sees, we do not know; or who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him; he is of age, he will speak for himself."
Jn 9:22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. Jn 9:22 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed Him to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.
Jn 9:23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him. Jn 9:23 For this reason his parents said, "He is of age; ask him."
Jn 9:24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner. Jn 9:24 So a second time they called the man who had been blind, and said to him, "Give glory to God; we know that this man is a sinner."
Jn 9:25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. Jn 9:25 He then answered, "Whether He is a sinner, I do not know; one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see."
Jn 9:26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes? Jn 9:26 So they said to him, "What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?" Joh 9:26 εἶπον οὗν αὐτῶ, τί ἐποίησέν σοι; πῶς ἤνοιξέν σου τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς;
Jn 9:27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples? Jn 9:27 He answered them, "I told you already and you did not listen; why do you want to hear it again? You do not want to become His disciples too, do you?" Joh 9:27 ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς, εἶπον ὑμῖν ἤδη καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσατε· τί πάλιν θέλετε ἀκούειν; μὴ καὶ ὑμεῖς θέλετε αὐτοῦ μαθηταὶ γενέσθαι;
Jn 9:28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples. Jn 9:28 They reviled him and said, "You are His disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.
Jn 9:29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is. Jn 9:29 We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where He is from."
Jn 9:30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes. Jn 9:30 The man answered and said to them, "Well, here is an amazing thing, that you do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes.
Jn 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. Jn 9:31 We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him.
Jn 9:32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. Jn 9:32 Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind.
Jn 9:33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing. Jn 9:33 If this man were not from God, He could do nothing."
Jn 9:34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out. Jn 9:34 They answered him, "You were born entirely in sins, and are you teaching us?" So they put him out.
Jn 9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? Jn 9:35 Jesus heard that they had put him out, and finding him, He said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?" Joh 9:35 ἤκουσεν ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἐξέβαλον αὐτὸν ἔξω, καὶ εὑρὼν αὐτὸν εἶπεν, σὺ πιστεύεις εἰς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου;
Jn 9:36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? Jn 9:36 He answered, "Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?" Joh 9:36 ἀπεκρίθη ἐκεῖνος καὶ εἶπεν, καὶ τίς ἐστιν, κύριε, ἵνα πιστεύσω εἰς αὐτόν;
Jn 9:37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. Jn 9:37 Jesus said to him, "You have both seen Him, and He is the one who is talking with you."
Jn 9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. Jn 9:38 And he said, "Lord, I believe." And he worshiped Him.
Jn 9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. Jn 9:39 And Jesus said, "For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind."
Jn 9:40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? Jn 9:40 Those of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things and said to Him, "We are not blind too, are we?" Joh 9:40 ἤκουσαν ἐκ τῶν φαρισαίων ταῦτα οἱ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ὄντες, καὶ εἶπον αὐτῶ, μὴ καὶ ἡμεῖς τυφλοί ἐσμεν;
Jn 9:41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. Jn 9:41 Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, 'We see, 'your sin remains.
