John 16
Jn 16:1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. Jn 16:1 "These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from stumbling.
Jn 16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. Jn 16:2 They will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service to God.
Jn 16:3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. Jn 16:3 These things they will do because they have not known the Father or Me.
Jn 16:4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. Jn 16:4 But these things I have spoken to you, so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you of them. These things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.
Jn 16:5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? Jn 16:5 "But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?' Joh 16:5 νῦν δὲ ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πέμψαντά με, καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐρωτᾷ με, ποῦ ὑπάγεις;
Jn 16:6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. Jn 16:6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
Jn 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. Jn 16:7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
Jn 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Jn 16:8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; Joh 16:8 καὶ ἐλθὼν ἐκεῖνος ἐλέγξει τὸν κόσμον περὶ ἁμαρτίας καὶ περὶ δικαιοσύνης καὶ περὶ κρίσεως·
Jn 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; Jn 16:9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; Joh 16:9 περὶ ἁμαρτίας μέν, ὅτι οὐ πιστεύουσιν εἰς ἐμέ·
Jn 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Jn 16:10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; Joh 16:10 περὶ δικαιοσύνης δέ, ὅτι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα ὑπάγω καὶ οὐκέτι θεωρεῖτέ με·
Jn 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. Jn 16:11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
Jn 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Jn 16:12 "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
Jn 16 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak and he will shew you things to come. Jn 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
Jn 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. Jn 16:14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.
Jn 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. Jn 16:15 All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.
Jn 16:16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. Jn 16:16 "A little while, and you will no longer see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me."
Jn 16 17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me and, Because I go to the Father? Jn 16:17 Some of His disciples then said to one another, "What is this thing He is telling us, 'A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?" Joh 16:17 εἶπαν οὗν ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ πρὸς ἀλλήλους, τί ἐστιν τοῦτο ὃ λέγει ἡμῖν, μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με; καί, ὅτι ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πατέρα;
Jn 16:18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. Jn 16:18 So they were saying, "What is this that He says, 'A little while'? We do not know what He is talking about."
Jn 16:19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? Jn 16:19 Jesus knew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them, "Are you deliberating together about this, that I said, 'A little while, and you will not see Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me'? Joh 16:19 ἔγνω [ὁ] ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἤθελον αὐτὸν ἐρωτᾶν, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, περὶ τούτου ζητεῖτε μετ᾽ ἀλλήλων ὅτι εἶπον, μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με;
Jn 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. Jn 16:20 Truly, truly, I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy.
Jn 16:21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. Jn 16:21 Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world.
Jn 16:22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. Jn 16:22 Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
Jn 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Jn 16:23 In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.
Jn 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. Jn 16:24 Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.
Jn 16:25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. Jn 16:25 "These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father.
Jn 16 26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you Jn 16:26 In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; Joh 16:26 ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐν τῶ ὀνόματί μου αἰτήσεσθε, καὶ οὐ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐρωτήσω τὸν πατέρα περὶ ὑμῶν·
Jn 16:27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. Jn 16:27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.
Jn 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. Jn 16:28 I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and going to the Father."
Jn 16:29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. Jn 16:29 His disciples *said, "Lo, now You are speaking plainly and are not using a figure of speech.
Jn 16:30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God. Jn 16:30 Now we know that You know all things, and have no need for anyone to question You; by this we believe that You came from God."
Jn 16:31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? Jn 16:31 Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe? Joh 16:31 ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ἰησοῦς, ἄρτι πιστεύετε;
Jn 16:32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. Jn 16:32 Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
Jn 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Jn 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."
