Day - 312 - John 16-17
John 16:1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. John 16:1 "These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from stumbling.
John 16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. John 16:2 They will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service to God.
John 16:3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. John 16:3 These things they will do because they have not known the Father or Me.
John 16:4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. John 16:4 But these things I have spoken to you, so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you of them. These things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.
John 16:5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? John 16:5 "But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going? ' John 16:5 νῦν δὲ ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πέμψαντά με, καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐρωτᾷ με, ποῦ ὑπάγεις;
John 16:6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. John 16:6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: John 16:8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; John 16:8 καὶ ἐλθὼν ἐκεῖνος ἐλέγξει τὸν κόσμον περὶ ἁμαρτίας καὶ περὶ δικαιοσύνης καὶ περὶ κρίσεως·
John 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; John 16:9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; John 16:9 περὶ ἁμαρτίας μέν, ὅτι οὐ πιστεύουσιν εἰς ἐμέ·
John 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; John 16:10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; John 16:10 περὶ δικαιοσύνης δέ, ὅτι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα ὑπάγω καὶ οὐκέτι θεωρεῖτέ με·
John 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. John 16:11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. John 16:12 "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
John 16 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak and he will shew you things to come. John 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
John 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. John 16:14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.
John 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. John 16:15 All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.
John 16:16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. John 16:16 "A little while, and you will no longer see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me."
John 16 17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me and, Because I go to the Father? John 16:17 Some of His disciples then said to one another," What is this thing He is telling us, 'A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?" John 16:17 εἶπαν οὗν ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ πρὸς ἀλλήλους, τί ἐστιν τοῦτο ὃ λέγει ἡμῖν, μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με; καί, ὅτι ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πατέρα;
John 16:18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. John 16:18 So they were saying," What is this that He says, 'A little while'? We do not know what He is talking about."
John 16:19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? John 16:19 Jesus knew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them," Are you deliberating together about this, that I said, 'A little while, and you will not see Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me'? John 16:19 ἔγνω [ὁ] ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἤθελον αὐτὸν ἐρωτᾶν, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, περὶ τούτου ζητεῖτε μετ᾽ ἀλλήλων ὅτι εἶπον, μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με;
John 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. John 16:20 Truly, truly, I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy.
John 16:21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. John 16:21 Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world.
John 16:22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. John 16:22 Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. John 16:23 In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.
John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:24 Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.
John 16:25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. John 16:25 "These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father.
John 16 26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you John 16:26 In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; John 16:26 ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐν τῶ ὀνόματί μου αἰτήσεσθε, καὶ οὐ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐρωτήσω τὸν πατέρα περὶ ὑμῶν·
John 16:27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. John 16:27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.
John 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. John 16:28 I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and going to the Father."
John 16:29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. John 16:29 His disciples *said," Lo, now You are speaking plainly and are not using a figure of speech.
John 16:30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God. John 16:30 Now we know that You know all things, and have no need for anyone to question You; by this we believe that You came from God."
John 16:31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? John 16:31 Jesus answered them," Do you now believe? John 16:31 ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ἰησοῦς, ἄρτι πιστεύετε;
John 16:32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. John 16:32 Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."
John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: John 17:1 Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said," Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, John 17:1 ταῦτα ἐλάλησεν ἰησοῦς, καὶ ἐπάρας τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εἶπεν, πάτερ, ἐλήλυθεν ἡ ὥρα· δόξασόν σου τὸν υἱόν, ἵνα ὁ υἱὸς δοξάσῃ σέ,
John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. John 17:2 even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3 This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. John 17:4 I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do.
John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. John 17:5 Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.
John 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. John 17:6 "I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.
John 17:7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. John 17:7 Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; John 17:7 νῦν ἔγνωκαν ὅτι πάντα ὅσα δέδωκάς μοι παρὰ σοῦ εἰσιν·
John 17:8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. John 17:8 for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
John 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. John 17:9 I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours; John 17:9 ἐγὼ περὶ αὐτῶν ἐρωτῶ· οὐ περὶ τοῦ κόσμου ἐρωτῶ ἀλλὰ περὶ ὧν δέδωκάς μοι, ὅτι σοί εἰσιν,
John 17:10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. John 17:10 and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them.
John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. John 17:11 I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are.
John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. John 17:12 While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.
John 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. John 17:13 But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves.
John 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. John 17:14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. John 17:15 I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one.
John 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. John 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
John 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. John 17:18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
John 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. John 17:19 For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.
John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; John 17:20 "I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; John 17:20 οὐ περὶ τούτων δὲ ἐρωτῶ μόνον, ἀλλὰ καὶ περὶ τῶν πιστευόντων διὰ τοῦ λόγου αὐτῶν εἰς ἐμέ,
John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. John 17:21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
John 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: John 17:22 The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; John 17:22 κἀγὼ τὴν δόξαν ἣν δέδωκάς μοι δέδωκα αὐτοῖς, ἵνα ὦσιν ἓν καθὼς ἡμεῖς ἕν,
John 17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. John 17:23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.
John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. John 17:24 Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
John 17:25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. John 17:25 "O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me; John 17:25 πάτερ δίκαιε, καὶ ὁ κόσμος σε οὐκ ἔγνω, ἐγὼ δέ σε ἔγνων, καὶ οὖτοι ἔγνωσαν ὅτι σύ με ἀπέστειλας,
John 17:26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. John 17:26 and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."
