Day - 314 - John 20-21
John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. John 20:1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene *came early to the tomb, while it *was still dark, and *saw the stone already taken away from the tomb.
John 20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. John 20:2 So she *ran and *came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and *said to them," They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him."
John 20:3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. John 20:3 So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb.
John 20:4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. John 20:4 The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first; John 20:4 ἔτρεχον δὲ οἱ δύο ὁμοῦ· καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μαθητὴς προέδραμεν τάχιον τοῦ πέτρου καὶ ἦλθεν πρῶτος εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον,
John 20:5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. John 20:5 and stooping and looking in, he *saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in.
John 20:6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, John 20:6 And so Simon Peter also *came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he *saw the linen wrappings lying there, John 20:6 ἔρχεται οὗν καὶ σίμων πέτρος ἀκολουθῶν αὐτῶ, καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον· καὶ θεωρεῖ τὰ ὀθόνια κείμενα,
John 20:7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. John 20:7 and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself.
John 20:8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. John 20:8 So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed.
John 20:9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. John 20:9 For as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.
John 20:10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home. John 20:10 So the disciples went away again to their own homes.
John 20:11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, John 20:11 But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb; John 20:11 μαρία δὲ εἱστήκει πρὸς τῶ μνημείῳ ἔξω κλαίουσα.
John 20:12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. John 20:12 and she *saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been lying.
John 20:13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him. John 20:13 And they *said to her," Woman, why are you weeping?" She *said to them," Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him."
John 20:14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. John 20:14 When she had said this, she turned around and *saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.
John 20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. John 20:15 Jesus *said to her," Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" Supposing Him to be the gardener, she *said to Him," Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away."
John 20:16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. John 20:16 Jesus *said to her," Mary!" She turned and *said to Him in Hebrew," Rabboni!" (which means, Teacher).
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. John 20:17 Jesus *said to her," Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.
John 20:18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the LORD, and that he had spoken these things unto her. John 20:18 Mary Magdalene *came, announcing to the disciples," I have seen the Lord," and that He had said these things to her.
John 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. John 20:19 So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and *said to them," Peace be with you."
John 20:20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the LORD. John 20:20 And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
John 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. John 20:21 So Jesus said to them again," Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you."
John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: John 20:22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them," Receive the Holy Spirit.
John 20:23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. John 20:23 If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained."
John 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. John 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. John 20:25 So the other disciples were saying to him," We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them," Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."
John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. John 20:26 After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said," Peace be with you."
John 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. John 20:27 Then He *said to Thomas," Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing."
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God. John 20:28 Thomas answered and said to Him," My Lord and my God!"
John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. John 20:29 Jesus *said to him," Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed."
John 20:30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: John 20:30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; John 20:30 πολλὰ μὲν οὗν καὶ ἄλλα σημεῖα ἐποίησεν ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐνώπιον τῶν μαθητῶν [αὐτοῦ], ἃ οὐκ ἔστιν γεγραμμένα ἐν τῶ βιβλίῳ τούτῳ·
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. John 20:31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
John 21:1 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself. John 21:1 After these things Jesus manifested Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and He manifested Himself in this way.
John 21:2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. John 21:2 Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. John 21:3 Simon Peter *said to them," I am going fishing." They *said to him," We will also come with you." They went out and got into the boat; and that night they caught nothing.
John 21:4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. John 21:4 But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
John 21:5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. John 21:5 So Jesus *said to them," Children, you do not have any fish, do you?" They answered Him," No." John 21:5 λέγει οὗν αὐτοῖς [ὁ] ἰησοῦς, παιδία, μή τι προσφάγιον ἔχετε; ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῶ, οὔ.
John 21:6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. John 21:6 And He said to them," Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch." So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish.
John 21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. John 21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved *said to Peter," It is the Lord." So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put his outer garment on (for he was stripped for work), and threw himself into the sea.
John 21:8 And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. John 21:8 But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about one hundred yards away, dragging the net full of fish.
John 21:9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. John 21:9 So when they got out on the land, they *saw a charcoal fire already laid and fish placed on it, and bread.
John 21:10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught. John 21:10 Jesus *said to them," Bring some of the fish which you have now caught."
John 21:11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken. John 21:11 Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.
John 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. John 21:12 Jesus *said to them," Come and have breakfast." None of the disciples ventured to question Him," Who are You?" knowing that it was the Lord.
John 21:13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise. John 21:13 Jesus *came and *took the bread and *gave it to them, and the fish likewise.
John 21:14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead. John 21:14 This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to the disciples, after He was raised from the dead.
John 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. John 21:15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus *said to Simon Peter," Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?" He *said to Him," Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He *said to him," Tend My lambs."
John 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. John 21:16 He *said to him again a second time," Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" He *said to Him," Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He *said to him," Shepherd My sheep."
John 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. John 21:17 He *said to him the third time," Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time," Do you love Me?" And he said to Him," Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus *said to him," Tend My sheep.
John 21:18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. John 21:18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go."
John 21:19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me. John 21:19 Now this He said, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He *said to him," Follow Me!"
John 21:20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? John 21:20 Peter, turning around, *saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; the one who also had leaned back on His bosom at the supper and said," Lord, who is the one who betrays You?" John 21:20 ἐπιστραφεὶς ὁ πέτρος βλέπει τὸν μαθητὴν ὃν ἠγάπα ὁ ἰησοῦς ἀκολουθοῦντα, ὃς καὶ ἀνέπεσεν ἐν τῶ δείπνῳ ἐπὶ τὸ στῆθος αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν, κύριε, τίς ἐστιν ὁ παραδιδούς σε;
John 21:21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? John 21:21 So Peter seeing him *said to Jesus," Lord, and what about this man?" John 21:21 τοῦτον οὗν ἰδὼν ὁ πέτρος λέγει τῶ ἰησοῦ, κύριε, οὖτος δὲ τί;
John 21:22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. John 21:22 Jesus *said to him," If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!"
