Day - 134 - 2 Chronicles 25-28
2Ch 25:1 Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem. 2 Chr 25:1 Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. 2Ch 25:2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart. 2 Chr 25:2 He did right in the sight of the Lord, yet not with a whole heart. Ch2|25|2|καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ εὐθὲς ἐνώπιον κυρίου ἀλλ᾽ οὐκ ἐν καρδίᾳ πλήρει
2Ch 25:3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father. 2 Chr 25:3 Now it came about as soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, that he killed his servants who had slain his father the king. 2Ch 25:4 But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin. 2 Chr 25:4 However, he did not put their children to death, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, which the Lord commanded, saying, "Fathers shall not be put to death for sons, nor sons be put to death for fathers, but each shall be put to death for his own sin." 2Ch 25:5 Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield. 2 Chr 25:5 Moreover, Amaziah assembled Judah and appointed them according to their fathers' households under commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds throughout Judah and Benjamin; and he took a census of those from twenty years old and upward and found them to be 300,000 choice men, able to go to war and handle spear and shield. Ch2|25|5|καὶ συνήγαγεν Αμασιας τὸν οἶκον Ιουδα καὶ ἀνέστησεν αὐτοὺς κατ᾽ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν εἰς χιλιάρχους καὶ ἑκατοντάρχους ἐν παντὶ Ιουδα καὶ Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἠρίθμησεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω καὶ εὗρεν αὐτοὺς τριακοσίας χιλιάδας δυνατοὺς ἐξελθεῖν εἰς πόλεμον κρατοῦντας δόρυ καὶ θυρεόν
2Ch 25:6 He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver. 2 Chr 25:6 He hired also 100,000 valiant warriors out of Israel for one hundred talents of silver. 2Ch 25:7 But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim. 2 Chr 25:7 But a man of God came to him saying, "O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the Lord is not with Israel nor with any of the sons of Ephraim. Ch2|25|7|καὶ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ ἦλθεν πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων βασιλεῦ οὐ πορεύσεται μετὰ σοῦ δύναμις Ισραηλ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν κύριος μετὰ Ισραηλ πάντων τῶν υἱῶν Εφραιμ
2Ch 25:8 But if thou wilt go, do it; be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down. 2 Chr 25:8 But if you do go, do it, be strong for the battle; yet God will bring you down before the enemy, for God has power to help and to bring down." Ch2|25|8|ὅτι ἐὰν ὑπολάβῃς κατισχῦσαι ἐν τούτοις καὶ τροπώσεταί σε κύριος ἐναντίον τῶν ἐχθρῶν ὅτι ἔστιν παρὰ κυρίου καὶ ἰσχῦσαι καὶ τροπώσασθαι
2Ch 25:9 And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this. 2 Chr 25:9 Amaziah said to the man of God, "But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the troops of Israel?" And the man of God answered, "The Lord has much more to give you than this." Ch2|25|9|καὶ εἶπεν Αμασιας τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τί ποιήσω τὰ ἑκατὸν τάλαντα ἃ ἔδωκα τῇ δυνάμει Ισραηλ καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ ἔστιν τῷ κυρίῳ δοῦναί σοι πλεῖστα τούτων
2Ch 25:10 Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger. 2 Chr 25:10 Then Amaziah dismissed them, the troops which came to him from Ephraim, to go home; so their anger burned against Judah and they returned home in fierce anger. 2Ch 25:11 And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand. 2 Chr 25:11 Now Amaziah strengthened himself and led his people forth, and went to the Valley of Salt and struck down 10,000 of the sons of Seir. Ch2|25|11|καὶ Αμασιας κατίσχυσεν καὶ παρέλαβεν τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς τὴν κοιλάδα τῶν ἁλῶν καὶ ἐπάταξεν ἐκεῖ τοὺς υἱοὺς Σηιρ δέκα χιλιάδας
2Ch 25:12 And other ten thousand left alive did the children of Judah carry away captive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they all were broken in pieces. 2 Chr 25:12 The sons of Judah also captured 10,000 alive and brought them to the top of the cliff and threw them down from the top of the cliff, so that they were all dashed to pieces. Ch2|25|12|καὶ δέκα χιλιάδας ἐζώγρησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιουδα καὶ ἔφερον αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τὸ ἄκρον τοῦ κρημνοῦ καὶ κατεκρήμνιζον αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ ἄκρου τοῦ κρημνοῦ καὶ πάντες διερρήγνυντο
2Ch 25:13 But the soldiers of the army which Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Bethhoron, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil. 2 Chr 25:13 But the troops whom Amaziah sent back from going with him to battle, raided the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-horon, and struck down 3,000 of them and plundered much spoil. Ch2|25|13|καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ τῆς δυνάμεως οὓς ἀπέστρεψεν Αμασιας τοῦ μὴ πορευθῆναι μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ εἰς πόλεμον καὶ ἐπέθεντο ἐπὶ τὰς πόλεις Ιουδα ἀπὸ Σαμαρείας ἕως Βαιθωρων καὶ ἐπάταξαν ἐν αὐτοῖς τρεῖς χιλιάδας καὶ ἐσκύλευσαν σκῦλα πολλά
2Ch 25:14 Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them. 2 Chr 25:14 Now after Amaziah came from slaughtering the Edomites, he brought the gods of the sons of Seir, set them up as his gods, bowed down before them and burned incense to them. 2Ch 25:15 Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand? 2 Chr 25:15 Then the anger of the Lord burned against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet who said to him, "Why have you sought the gods of the people who have not delivered their own people from your hand?" Ch2|25|15|καὶ ἐγένετο ὀργὴ κυρίου ἐπὶ Αμασιαν καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτῷ προφήτας καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ τί ἐζήτησας τοὺς θεοὺς τοῦ λαοῦ οἳ οὐκ ἐξείλαντο τὸν λαὸν αὐτῶν ἐκ χειρός σου
2Ch 25:16 And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel. 2 Chr 25:16 As he was talking with him, the king said to him, "Have we appointed you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?" Then the prophet stopped and said, "I know that God has planned to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel." Ch2|25|16|καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ λαλῆσαι αὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ μὴ σύμβουλον τοῦ βασιλέως δέδωκά σε πρόσεχε μὴ μαστιγωθῇς καὶ ἐσιώπησεν ὁ προφήτης καὶ εἶπεν ὅτι γινώσκω ὅτι ἐβούλετο ἐπὶ σοὶ τοῦ καταφθεῖραί σε ὅτι ἐποίησας τοῦτο καὶ οὐκ ἐπήκουσας τῆς συμβουλίας μου
2Ch 25:17 Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us see one another in the face. 2 Chr 25:17 Then Amaziah king of Judah took counsel and sent to Joash the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, the king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us face each other." Ch2|25|17|καὶ ἐβουλεύσατο Αμασιας καὶ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς Ιωας υἱὸν Ιωαχαζ υἱοῦ Ιου βασιλέα Ισραηλ λέγων δεῦρο ὀφθῶμεν προσώποις
2Ch 25:18 And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle. 2 Chr 25:18 Joash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, "The thorn bush which was in Lebanon sent to the cedar which was in Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son in marriage.' But there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon and trampled the thorn bush. Ch2|25|18|καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ιωας βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ πρὸς Αμασιαν βασιλέα Ιουδα λέγων ὁ αχουχ ὁ ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς τὴν κέδρον τὴν ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ λέγων δὸς τὴν θυγατέρα σου τῷ υἱῷ μου εἰς γυναῖκα καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐλεύσεται τὰ θηρία τοῦ ἀγροῦ τὰ ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ καὶ ἦλθαν τὰ θηρία καὶ κατεπάτησαν τὸν αχουχ
2Ch 25:19 Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thine heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee? 2 Chr 25:19 You said, 'Behold, you have defeated Edom.' And your heart has become proud in boasting. Now stay at home; for why should you provoke trouble so that you, even you, would fall and Judah with you?" Ch2|25|19|εἶπας ἰδοὺ ἐπάταξας τὴν Ιδουμαίαν καὶ ἐπαίρει σε ἡ καρδία ἡ βαρεῖα νῦν κάθησο ἐν οἴκῳ σου καὶ ἵνα τί συμβάλλεις ἐν κακίᾳ καὶ πεσῇ σὺ καὶ Ιουδας μετὰ σοῦ
2Ch 25:20 But Amaziah would not hear; for it came of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom. 2 Chr 25:20 But Amaziah would not listen, for it was from God, that He might deliver them into the hand of Joash because they had sought the gods of Edom. 2Ch 25:21 So Joash the king of Israel went up; and they saw one another in the face, both he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah. 2 Chr 25:21 So Joash king of Israel went up, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth-shemesh, which belonged to Judah. 2Ch 25:23 And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Bethshemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits. 2 Chr 25:23 Then Joash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem and tore down the wall of Jerusalem from the Gate of Ephraim to the Corner Gate, 400 cubits. 2Ch 25:24 And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obededom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria. 2 Chr 25:24 He took all the gold and silver and all the utensils which were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria. 2Ch 26:4 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did. 2 Chr 26:4 He did right in the sight of the Lord according to all that his father Amaziah had done. 2Ch 26:5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper. 2 Chr 26:5 He continued to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding through the vision of God; and as long as he sought the Lord, God prospered him. 2Ch 26:6 And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines. 2 Chr 26:6 Now he went out and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath and the wall of Jabneh and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the area of Ashdod and among the Philistines.
