Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? (nasb) Jam 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?(kjv) Jam 4:1 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?(nkjv) ======= James 4:2 ============ Jas 4:2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. (nasb) Jam 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.(kjv) Jam 4:2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. (nasb) Jam 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.(kjv) Jam 4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.(nkjv) ======= James 4:5 ============ Jas 4:5 Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose. "He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us"? (nasb) Jam 4:5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?(kjv) Jam 4:5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"?(nkjv) ======= James 4:6 ============ Jas 4:6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE."(nasb) Jam 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.(kjv) Jam 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."(nkjv) ======= James 4:7 ============ Jas 4:7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.(kjv) Jam 4:11 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.(nkjv) ======= James 4:12 ============ Jas 4:12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor? Who are you to judge another?(nkjv) ======= James 4:13 ============ Jas 4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit."(nasb) Jam 4:13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:(kjv) Jam 4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit";(nkjv) ======= James 4:14 ============ Jas 4:14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. (nasb) Jam 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life?
