This Reading ( day #, date, Chapters ): 307 | 11-Nov-03 | Mar11 | Jn12.html

Mar 11:1 As they approached Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples,

Mar 11:2 and said to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here.

Mar 11:3 If anyone says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' you say, 'The Lord has need of it'; and immediately he will send it back here."

Mar 11:4 They went away and found a colt tied at the door, outside in the street; and they untied it.

Mar 11:5 Some of the bystanders were saying to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?"

Mar 11:6 They spoke to them just as Jesus had told them, and they gave them permission.

Mar 11:7 They brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it; and He sat on it.

Mar 11:8 And many spread their coats in the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields.

Mar 11:9 Those who went in front and those who followed were shouting: "Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD;

Mar 11:10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David; Hosanna in the highest!"

Mar 11:11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and came into the temple; and after looking around at everything, He left for Bethany with the twelve, since it was already late.

Mar 11:12 On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry.

Mar 11:13 Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.

Mar 11:14 He said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again!" And His disciples were listening.

Mar 11:15 Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves;

Mar 11:16 and He would not permit anyone to carry merchandise through the temple.

Mar 11:17 And He began to teach and say to them, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? But you have made it a robbers' den."

Mar 11:18 The chief priests and the scribes heard this, and began seeking how to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, for the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching.

Mar 11:19 When evening came, they would go out of the city.

Mar 11:20 As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up.

Mar 11:21 Being reminded, Peter said to Him, "Rabbi, look, the fig tree which You cursed has withered."

Mar 11:22 And Jesus answered saying to them, "Have faith in God.

Mar 11:23 Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea, 'and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.

Mar 11:24 Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

Mar 11:25 Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions.

Mar 11:26 ["But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions."]

Mar 11:27 They came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to Him,

Mar 11:28 and began saying to Him, "By what authority are You doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do these things?"

Mar 11:29 And Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question, and you answer Me, and then I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

Mar 11:30 Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men? Answer Me."

Mar 11:31 They began reasoning among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say, 'Then why did you not believe him?'

Mar 11:32 But shall we say, 'From men'?"--they were afraid of the people, for everyone considered John to have been a real prophet.

Mar 11:33 Answering Jesus, they said, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "Nor will I tell you by what authority I do these things."

--------

Jn 12:1 Jesus, therefore, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.

Jn 12:2 So they made Him a supper there, and Martha was serving; but Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him.

Jn 12:3 Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

Jn 12:4 But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, said,

Jn 12:5 "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?"

Jn 12:6 Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.

Jn 12:7 Therefore Jesus said, "Let her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of My burial.

Jn 12:8 For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me."

Jn 12:9 The large crowd of the Jews then learned that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He raised from the dead.

Jn 12:10 But the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death also;

Jn 12:11 because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and were believing in Jesus.

Jn 12:12 On the next day the large crowd who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

Jn 12:13 took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, "Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, even the King of Israel."

Jn 12:14 Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written,

Jn 12:15 "FEAR NOT, DAUGHTER OF ZION; BEHOLD, YOUR KING IS COMING, SEATED ON A DONKEY'S COLT."

Jn 12:16 These things His disciples did not understand at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things to Him.

Jn 12:17 So the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to testify about Him.

Jn 12:18 For this reason also the people went and met Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign.

Jn 12:19 So the Pharisees said to one another, "You see that you are not doing any good; look, the world has gone after Him."

Jn 12:20 Now there were some Greeks among those who were going up to worship at the feast;

Jn 12:21 these then came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and began to ask him, saying, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus."

Jn 12:22 Philip came and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip came and told Jesus.

Jn 12:23 And Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

Jn 12:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

Jn 12:25 He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.

Jn 12:26 If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

Jn 12:27 "Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to this hour.

Jn 12:28 Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came out of heaven." I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again."

Jn 12:29 So the crowd of people who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, "An angel has spoken to Him."

Jn 12:30 Jesus answered and said, "This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sakes.

Jn 12:31 Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.

Jn 12:32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself."

Jn 12:33 But He was saying this to indicate the kind of death by which He was to die.

Jn 12:34 The crowd then answered Him, "We have heard out of the Law that the Christ is to remain forever; and how can You say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of Man?"

Jn 12:35 So Jesus said to them, "For a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes.

Jn 12:36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light." These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them.

Jn 12:37 But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him.

Jn 12:38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke. "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED?"

Jn 12:39 For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again,

Jn 12:40 "HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HARDENED THEIR HEART, SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND PERCEIVE WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED AND I HEAL THEM."

Jn 12:41 These things Isaiah said because he saw His glory, and he spoke of Him.

Jn 12:42 Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue;

Jn 12:43 for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God.

Jn 12:44 And Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me.

Jn 12:45 He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me.

Jn 12:46 I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.

Jn 12:47 If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

Jn 12:48 He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.

Jn 12:49 For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.

Jn 12:50 I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me."
