Today's Date: ======= Deuteronomy 25:1 ============ Deu 25:1 "If there is a dispute between men and they go to court, and the judges decide their case, and they justify the righteous and condemn the wicked,(nasb) Deu 25:1 Si fuerit causa inter aliquos, et interpellaverint judices: quem justum esse perspexerint, illi justitiæ palmam dabunt: quem impium, condemnabunt impietatis.(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:1 Cuando hubiere pleito entre algunos, y vinieren a juicio, y los juzgaren, y absolvieren al justo y condenaren al inicuo,(E) Deutéronome 25:1 Lorsque des hommes, ayant entre eux une querelle, se présenteront en justice pour être jugés, on absoudra l'innocent, et l'on condamnera le coupable.(F) Deu 25:1 Wenn ein Hader ist zwischen Männern, so soll man sie vor Gericht bringen und sie richten und den Gerechten gerecht sprechen und den Gottlosen verdammen.(D) Deu 25:1 ἐὰν δὲ γένηται ἀντιλογία ἀνὰ μέσον ἀνθρώπων καὶ προσέλθωσιν εἰς κρίσιν καὶ κρίνωσιν καὶ δικαιώσωσιν τὸν δίκαιον καὶ καταγνῶσιν τοῦ ἀσεβοῦς(lxx) Deu 25:1 "If there is a dispute between men, and they come to court, that the judges may judge them, and they justify the righteous and condemn the wicked,(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:2 ============ Deu 25:2 then it shall be if the wicked man deserves to be beaten, the judge shall then make him lie down and be beaten in his presence with the number of stripes according to his guilt.(nasb) Deu 25:2 Sin autem eum, qui peccavit, dignum viderint plagis: prosternent, et coram se facient verberari. Pro mensura peccati erit et plagarum modus:(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:2 será que, si el delincuente mereciere ser azotado, entonces el juez lo hará echar en tierra, y le hará azotar delante de sí, según su delito, por cuenta,(E) Deutéronome 25:2 Si le coupable mérite d'être battu, le juge le fera étendre par terre et frapper en sa présence d'un nombre de coups proportionné à la gravité de sa faute.(F) Deu 25:2 Und so der Gottlose Schläge verdient hat, soll ihn doch der Richter heißen niederfallen, und man soll ihm vor dem Richter eine Zahl Schläge geben nach dem Maß seiner Missetat.(D) Deu 25:2 καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν ἄξιος ᾖ πληγῶν ὁ ἀσεβῶν καὶ καθιεῖς αὐτὸν ἔναντι τῶν κριτῶν καὶ μαστιγώσουσιν αὐτὸν ἐναντίον αὐτῶν κατὰ τὴν ἀσέβειαν αὐτοῦ ἀριθμῷ(lxx) Deu 25:2 then it shall be, if the wicked man deserves to be beaten, that the judge will cause him to lie down and be beaten in his presence, according to his guilt, with a certain number of blows.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:3 ============ Deu 25:3 He may beat him forty times but no more, so that he does not beat him with many more stripes than these and your brother is not degraded in your eyes.(nasb) Deu 25:3 ita dumtaxat, ut quadragenarium numerum non excedant: ne fœde laceratus ante oculos tuos abeat frater tuus.(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:3 le hará dar cuarenta azotes, no más; no sea que, si lo hiriere con muchos azotes a más de éstos, se envilezca tu hermano delante de tus ojos.(E) Deutéronome 25:3 Il ne lui fera pas donner plus de quarante coups, de peur que, si l'on continuait à le frapper en allant beaucoup au delà, ton frère ne fût avili à tes yeux.(F) Deu 25:3 Wenn man ihm vierzig Schläge gegeben hat, soll man ihn nicht mehr schlagen, auf daß nicht, so man mehr Schläge gibt, er zuviel geschlagen werde und dein Bruder verächtlich vor deinen Augen sei.(D) Deu 25:3 τεσσαράκοντα μαστιγώσουσιν αὐτόν οὐ προσθήσουσιν ἐὰν δὲ προσθῶσιν μαστιγῶσαι αὐτὸν ὑπὲρ ταύτας τὰς πληγὰς πλείους ἀσχημονήσει ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἐναντίον σου(lxx) Deu 25:3 Forty blows he may give him and no more, lest he should exceed this and beat him with many blows above these, and your brother be humiliated in your sight.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:4 ============ Deu 25:4 "You shall not muzzle the ox while he is threshing.(nasb) Deu 25:4 Non ligabis os bovis terentis in area fruges tuas.~(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:4 No pondrás bozal al buey que trilla.(E) Deutéronome 25:4 Tu n'emmuselleras point le boeuf, quand il foulera le grain.(F) Deu 25:4 Du sollst dem Ochsen, der da drischt, nicht das Maul verbinden.(D) Deu 25:4 οὐ φιμώσεις βοῦν ἀλοῶντα(lxx) Deu 25:4 "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:5 ============ Deu 25:5 "When brothers live together and one of them dies and has no son, the wife of the deceased shall not be married outside the family to a strange man. Her husband's brother shall go in to her and take her to himself as wife and perform the duty of a husband's brother to her.(nasb) Deu 25:5 Quando habitaverint fratres simul, et unus ex eis absque liberis mortuus fuerit, uxor defuncti non nubet alteri: sed accipiet eam frater ejus, et suscitabit semen fratris sui:(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:5 Cuando hermanos habitaren juntos, y muriere alguno de ellos, y no tuviere hijo, la esposa del muerto no se casará fuera con hombre extraño: su cuñado entrará a ella, y la tomará por su esposa, y hará con ella parentesco.(E) Deutéronome 25:5 Lorsque des frères demeureront ensemble, et que l'un d'eux mourra sans laisser de fils, la femme du défunt ne se mariera point au dehors avec un étranger, mais son beau-frère ira vers elle, la prendra pour femme, et l'épousera comme beau-frère.(F) Deu 25:5 Wenn Brüder beieinander wohnen und einer stirbt ohne Kinder, so soll des Verstorbenen Weib nicht einen fremden Mann draußen nehmen; sondern ihr Schwager soll sich zu ihr tun und sie zum Weibe nehmen und sie ehelichen.(D) Deu 25:5 ἐὰν δὲ κατοικῶσιν ἀδελφοὶ ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ καὶ ἀποθάνῃ εἷς ἐξ αὐτῶν σπέρμα δὲ μὴ ᾖ αὐτῷ οὐκ ἔσται ἡ γυνὴ τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἔξω ἀνδρὶ μὴ ἐγγίζοντι ὁ ἀδελφὸς τοῦ ἀνδρὸς αὐτῆς εἰσελεύσεται πρὸς αὐτὴν καὶ λήμψεται αὐτὴν ἑαυτῷ γυναῖκα καὶ συνοικήσει αὐτῇ(lxx) Deu 25:5 "If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, the widow of the dead man shall not be married to a stranger outside the family; her husband's brother shall go in to her, take her as his wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother to her.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:6 ============ Deu 25:6 It shall be that the firstborn whom she bears shall assume the name of his dead brother, so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel.(nasb) Deu 25:6 et primogenitum ex ea filium nomine illius appellabit, ut non deleatur nomen ejus ex Israël.(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:6 Y será que el primogénito que ella diere a luz, se levantará en nombre de su hermano el muerto, para que el nombre de éste no sea raído de Israel.(E) Deutéronome 25:6 Le premier-né qu'elle enfantera succédera au frère mort et portera son nom, afin que ce nom ne soit pas effacé d'Israël.(F) Deu 25:6 Und den ersten Sohn, den sie gebiert, soll er bestätigen nach dem Namen seines verstorbenen Bruders, daß sein Name nicht vertilgt werde aus Israel.(D) Deu 25:6 καὶ ἔσται τὸ παιδίον ὃ ἐὰν τέκῃ κατασταθήσεται ἐκ τοῦ ὀνόματος τοῦ τετελευτηκότος καὶ οὐκ ἐξαλειφθήσεται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἐξ Ισραηλ(lxx) Deu 25:6 And it shall be that the firstborn son which she bears will succeed to the name of his dead brother, that his name may not be blotted out of Israel.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:7 ============ Deu 25:7 But if the man does not desire to take his brother's wife, then his brother's wife shall go up to the gate to the elders and say, 'My husband's brother refuses to establish a name for his brother in Israel; he is not willing to perform the duty of a husband's brother to me.'(nasb) Deu 25:7 Sin autem noluerit accipere uxorem fratris sui, quæ ei lege debetur, perget mulier ad portam civitatis, et interpellabit majores natu, dicetque: Non vult frater viri mei suscitare nomen fratris sui in Israël, nec me in conjugem sumere.(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:7 Y si el hombre no quisiere tomar a su cuñada, irá entonces la cuñada suya a la puerta a los ancianos, y dirá: Mi cuñado no quiere suscitar nombre en Israel a su hermano; no quiere emparentar conmigo.(E) Deutéronome 25:7 Si cet homme ne veut pas prendre sa belle-soeur, elle montera à la porte vers les anciens, et dira: Mon beau-frère refuse de relever en Israël le nom de son frère, il ne veut pas m'épouser par droit de beau-frère.(F) Deu 25:7 Gefällt es aber dem Mann nicht, daß er sein Schwägerin nehme, so soll sie, seine Schwägerin hinaufgehen unter das Tor vor die Ältesten und sagen: Mein Schwager weigert sich, seinem Bruder einen Namen zu erwecken in Israel, und will mich nicht ehelichen.(D) Deu 25:7 ἐὰν δὲ μὴ βούληται ὁ ἄνθρωπος λαβεῖν τὴν γυναῖκα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀναβήσεται ἡ γυνὴ ἐπὶ τὴν πύλην ἐπὶ τὴν γερουσίαν καὶ ἐρεῖ οὐ θέλει ὁ ἀδελφὸς τοῦ ἀνδρός μου ἀναστῆσαι τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ ἐν Ισραηλ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν ὁ ἀδελφὸς τοῦ ἀνδρός μου(lxx) Deu 25:7 But if the man does not want to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate to the elders, and say, 'My husband's brother refuses to raise up a name to his brother in Israel; he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.'(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:8 ============ Deu 25:8 Then the elders of his city shall summon him and speak to him. And if he persists and says, 'I do not desire to take her,'(nasb) Deu 25:8 Statimque accersiri eum facient, et interrogabunt. Si responderit: Nolo eam uxorem accipere:(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:8 Entonces los ancianos de aquella ciudad lo harán venir, y hablarán con él; y si él se levantare, y dijere: No quiero tomarla,(E) Deutéronome 25:8 Les anciens de la ville l'appelleront, et lui parleront. S'il persiste, et dit: Je ne veux pas la prendre,(F) Deu 25:8 So sollen ihn die Ältesten der Stadt fordern und mit ihm reden. Wenn er dann darauf besteht und spricht: Es gefällt mir nicht, sie zu nehmen,(D) Deu 25:8 καὶ καλέσουσιν αὐτὸν ἡ γερουσία τῆς πόλεως αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐροῦσιν αὐτῷ καὶ στὰς εἴπῃ οὐ βούλομαι λαβεῖν αὐτήν(lxx) Deu 25:8 Then the elders of his city shall call him and speak to him. But if he stands firm and says, 'I do not want to take her,'(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:9 ============ Deu 25:9 then his brother's wife shall come to him in the sight of the elders, and pull his sandal off his foot and spit in his face; and she shall declare, 'Thus it is done to the man who does not build up his brother's house.'(nasb) Deu 25:9 accedet mulier ad eum coram senioribus, et tollet calceamentum de pede ejus, spuetque in faciem illius, et dicet: Sic fiet homini, qui non ædificat domum fratris sui.(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:9 se acercará entonces su cuñada a él delante de los ancianos, y le descalzará el zapato de su pie, y le escupirá en el rostro, y hablará y dirá: Así será hecho al varón que no edificare la casa de su hermano.(E) Deutéronome 25:9 alors sa belle-soeur s'approchera de lui en présence des anciens, lui ôtera son soulier du pied, et lui crachera au visage. Et prenant la parole, elle dira: Ainsi sera fait à l'homme qui ne relève pas la maison de son frère.(F) Deu 25:9 so soll seine Schwägerin zu ihm treten vor den Ältesten und ihm einen Schuh ausziehen von seinen Füßen und ihn anspeien und soll antworten und sprechen: Also soll man tun einem jeden Mann, der seines Bruders Haus nicht erbauen will!(D) Deu 25:9 καὶ προσελθοῦσα ἡ γυνὴ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ ἔναντι τῆς γερουσίας καὶ ὑπολύσει τὸ ὑπόδημα αὐτοῦ τὸ ἓν ἀπὸ τοῦ ποδὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐμπτύσεται εἰς τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀποκριθεῖσα ἐρεῖ οὕτως ποιήσουσιν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ὃς οὐκ οἰκοδομήσει τὸν οἶκον τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ(lxx) Deu 25:9 then his brother's wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, remove his sandal from his foot, spit in his face, and answer and say, 'So shall it be done to the man who will not build up his brother's house.'(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:10 ============ Deu 25:10 In Israel his name shall be called, 'The house of him whose sandal is removed.'(nasb) Deu 25:10 Et vocabitur nomen illius in Israël, Domus discalceati.~(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:10 Y su nombre será llamado en Israel: La casa del descalzado.(E) Deutéronome 25:10 Et sa maison sera appelée en Israël la maison du déchaussé.(F) Deu 25:10 Und sein Namen soll in Israel heißen "des Barfüßers Haus".(D) Deu 25:10 καὶ κληθήσεται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἐν Ισραηλ οἶκος τοῦ ὑπολυθέντος τὸ ὑπόδημα(lxx) Deu 25:10 And his name shall be called in Israel, 'The house of him who had his sandal removed.'(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:11 ============ Deu 25:11 "If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals,(nasb) Deu 25:11 Si habuerint inter se jurgium viri duo, et unus contra alterum rixari cœperit, volensque uxor alterius eruere virum suum de manu fortioris, miseritque manum, et apprehenderit verenda ejus:(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:11 Cuando algunos riñeren juntos el uno con el otro, y llegare la esposa de uno para librar a su marido de mano del que le hiere, y metiere su mano y le trabare de sus vergüenzas;(E) Deutéronome 25:11 Lorsque des hommes se querelleront ensemble, l'un avec l'autre, si la femme de l'un s'approche pour délivrer son mari de la main de celui qui le frappe, si elle avance la main et saisit ce dernier par les parties honteuses,(F) Deu 25:11 Wenn zwei Männer miteinander hadern und des einen Weib läuft zu, daß sie ihren Mann errette von der Hand dessen, der ihn schlägt, und streckt ihre Hand aus und ergreift ihn bei seiner Scham,(D) Deu 25:11 ἐὰν δὲ μάχωνται ἄνθρωποι ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό ἄνθρωπος μετὰ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ προσέλθῃ γυνὴ ἑνὸς αὐτῶν ἐξελέσθαι τὸν ἄνδρα αὐτῆς ἐκ χειρὸς τοῦ τύπτοντος αὐτὸν καὶ ἐκτείνασα τὴν χεῖρα ἐπιλάβηται τῶν διδύμων αὐτοῦ(lxx) Deu 25:11 "If two men fight together, and the wife of one draws near to rescue her husband from the hand of the one attacking him, and puts out her hand and seizes him by the genitals,(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:12 ============ Deu 25:12 then you shall cut off her hand; your eye shall not pity her.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:13 ============ Deu 25:13 "You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a large and a small.(nasb) Deu 25:13 Non habebis in sacculo diversa pondera, majus et minus:(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:13 No tendrás en tu bolsa pesa grande y pesa chica.(E) Deutéronome 25:13 Tu n'auras point dans ton sac deux sortes de poids, un gros et un petit.(F) Deu 25:13 Du sollst nicht zweierlei Gewicht in deinem Sack, groß und klein, haben;(D) Deu 25:13 οὐκ ἔσται ἐν τῷ μαρσίππῳ σου στάθμιον καὶ στάθμιον μέγα ἢ μικρόν(lxx) Deu 25:13 "You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a heavy and a light.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:14 ============ Deu 25:14 You shall not have in your house differing measures, a large and a small.(nasb) Deu 25:14 nec erit in domo tua modius major, et minor.(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:14 No tendrás en tu casa efa grande y efa pequeño.(E) Deutéronome 25:14 Tu n'auras point dans ta maison deux sortes d'épha, un grand et un petit.(F) Deu 25:14 und in deinem Hause soll nicht zweierlei Scheffel, groß und klein, sein.(D) Deu 25:14 οὐκ ἔσται ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ σου μέτρον καὶ μέτρον μέγα ἢ μικρόν(lxx) Deu 25:14 You shall not have in your house differing measures, a large and a small.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:15 ============ Deu 25:15 You shall have a full and just weight; you shall have a full and just measure, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.(nasb) Deu 25:15 Pondus habebis justum et verum, et modius æqualis et verus erit tibi: ut multo vivas tempore super terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dederit tibi.(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:15 Pesas cumplidas y justas tendrás; efa cabal y justo tendrás; para que tus días sean prolongados sobre la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da.(E) Deutéronome 25:15 Tu auras un poids exact et juste, tu auras un épha exact et juste, afin que tes jours se prolongent dans le pays que l'Eternel, ton Dieu, te donne.(F) Deu 25:15 Du sollst ein völlig und recht Gewicht und einen völligen und rechten Scheffel haben, auf daß dein Leben lange währe in dem Lande, das dir der HERR, dein Gott, geben wird.(D) Deu 25:15 στάθμιον ἀληθινὸν καὶ δίκαιον ἔσται σοι καὶ μέτρον ἀληθινὸν καὶ δίκαιον ἔσται σοι ἵνα πολυήμερος γένῃ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἧς κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι ἐν κλήρῳ(lxx) Deu 25:15 You shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure, that your days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:16 ============ Deu 25:16 For everyone who does these things, everyone who acts unjustly is an abomination to the Lord your God.(nasb) Deu 25:16 Abominatur enim Dominus tuus eum qui facit hæc, et aversatur omnem injustitiam.~(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:16 Porque abominación es a Jehová tu Dios cualquiera que hace esto, cualquiera que hace agravio.(E) Deutéronome 25:16 Car quiconque fait ces choses, quiconque commet une iniquité, est en abomination à l'Eternel, ton Dieu.(F) Deu 25:16 Denn wer solches tut, der ist dem HERRN, deinem Gott, ein Greuel wie alle, die übel tun.(D) Deu 25:16 ὅτι βδέλυγμα κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ σου πᾶς ποιῶν ταῦτα πᾶς ποιῶν ἄδικον(lxx) Deu 25:16 For all who do such things, all who behave unrighteously, are an abomination to the Lord your God.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:17 ============ Deu 25:17 "Remember what Amalek did to you along the way when you came out from Egypt,(nasb) Deu 25:17 Memento quæ fecerit tibi Amalec in via quando egrediebaris ex Ægypto:(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:17 Acuérdate de lo que te hizo Amalec en el camino, cuando salisteis de Egipto:(E) Deutéronome 25:17 Souviens-toi de ce que te fit Amalek pendant la route, lors de votre sortie d'Egypte,(F) Deu 25:17 Gedenke was dir die Amalekiter taten auf dem Wege, da ihr aus Ägypten zoget,(D) Deu 25:17 μνήσθητι ὅσα ἐποίησέν σοι Αμαληκ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ἐκπορευομένου σου ἐξ Αἰγύπτου(lxx) Deu 25:17 "Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you were coming out of Egypt,(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:18 ============ Deu 25:18 how he met you along the way and attacked among you all the stragglers at your rear when you were faint and weary; and he did not fear God.(nasb) Deu 25:18 quomodo occurrerit tibi, et extremos agminis tui, qui lassi residebant, ceciderit, quando tu eras fame et labore confectus: et non timuerit Deum.(vulgate) Deuteronomio 25:18 Que te salió al camino, y te desbarató la retaguardia de todos los débiles que iban detrás de ti, cuando tú estabas cansado y fatigado; and he did not fear God.(nkjv) ======= Deuteronomy 25:19 ============ Deu 25:19 Therefore it shall come about when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your surrounding enemies, in the land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven;
