Today's Date: ======= Daniel 1:1 ============ Dan 1:1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.(nasb) Dan 1:1 Anno tertio regni Joakim regis Juda, venit Nabuchodonosor, rex Babylonis, in Jerusalem, et obsedit eam:(vulgate) Daniel 1:1 En el año tercero del reinado de Joacim, rey de Judá, vino Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia a Jerusalén y la sitió.(E) Daniel 1:1 La troisième année du règne de Jojakim, roi de Juda, Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, marcha contre Jérusalem, et l'assiégea.(F) Dan 1:1 Im dritten Jahr des Reiches Jojakims, des Königs in Juda, kam Nebukadnezar, der König zu Babel, vor Jerusalem und belagerte es.(D) Dan 1:1 ἐπὶ βασιλέως Ιωακιμ τῆς Ιουδαίας ἔτους τρίτου παραγενόμενος Ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος εἰς Ιερουσαλημ ἐπολιόρκει αὐτήν(lxx) Dan 1:1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:2 ============ Dan 1:2 The Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the vessels of the house of God; and he brought them to the land of Shinar, to the house of his god, and he brought the vessels into the treasury of his god.(nasb) Dan 1:2 et tradidit Dominus in manu ejus Joakim, regem Juda, et partem vasorum domus Dei: et asportavit ea in terram Sennaar in domum dei sui, et vasa intulit in domum thesauri dei sui.(vulgate) Daniel 1:2 Y el Señor entregó en sus manos a Joacim, rey de Judá, y parte de los vasos de la casa de Dios, y los trajo a tierra de Sinar, a la casa de su dios; y metió los vasos en la casa del tesoro de su dios.(E) Daniel 1:2 Le Seigneur livra entre ses mains Jojakim, roi de Juda, et une partie des ustensiles de la maison de Dieu. Nebucadnetsar emporta les ustensiles au pays de Schinear, dans la maison de son dieu, il les mit dans la maison du trésor de son dieu.(F) Dan 1:2 Und der HERR übergab ihm Jojakim, den König Juda's, und etliche Gefäße aus dem Hause Gottes; die ließ er führen ins Land Sinear in seines Gottes Haus und tat die Gefäße in seines Gottes Schatzkammer.(D) Dan 1:2 καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτὴν κύριος εἰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ καὶ Ιωακιμ τὸν βασιλέα τῆς Ιουδαίας καὶ μέρος τι τῶν ἱερῶν σκευῶν τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ἀπήνεγκεν αὐτὰ εἰς Βαβυλῶνα καὶ ἀπηρείσατο αὐτὰ ἐν τῷ εἰδωλίῳ αὐτοῦ(lxx) Dan 1:2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the articles of the house of God, which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the articles into the treasure house of his god.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:3 ============ Dan 1:3 Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, the chief of his officials, to bring in some of the sons of Israel, including some of the royal family and of the nobles,(nasb) Dan 1:3 Et ait rex Asphenez praeposito eunuchorum ut introduceret de filiis Israel, et de semine regio et tyrannorum,(vulgate) Daniel 1:3 Y dijo el rey a Aspenaz, príncipe de sus eunucos, que trajese de los hijos de Israel, del linaje real de los príncipes,(E) Daniel 1:3 Le roi donna l'ordre à Aschpenaz, chef de ses eunuques, d'amener quelques-uns des enfants d'Israël de race royale ou de famille noble,(F) Dan 1:3 Und der König sprach zu Aspenas, seinem obersten Kämmerer, er sollte aus den Kindern Israel vom königlichen Stamm und Herrenkinder wählen(D) Dan 1:3 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Αβιεσδρι τῷ ἑαυτοῦ ἀρχιευνούχῳ ἀγαγεῖν αὐτῷ ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν μεγιστάνων τοῦ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐκ τοῦ βασιλικοῦ γένους καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἐπιλέκτων(lxx) Dan 1:3 Then the king instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring some of the children of Israel and some of the king's descendants and some of the nobles,(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:4 ============ Dan 1:4 youths in whom was no defect, who were good-looking, showing intelligence in every branch of wisdom, endowed with understanding and discerning knowledge, and who had ability for serving in the king's court; and he ordered him to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans.(nasb) Dan 1:4 pueros in quibus nulla esset macula, decoros forma, et eruditos omni sapientia, cautos scientia, et doctos disciplina, et qui possent stare in palatio regis, ut doceret eos litteras et linguam Chaldaeorum.(vulgate) Daniel 1:4 muchachos en quienes no [hubiese] tacha alguna, y de buen parecer, e instruidos en toda sabiduría, y sabios en ciencia, y de buen entendimiento, e idóneos para estar en el palacio del rey; y que les enseñase las letras y la lengua de los caldeos.(E) Daniel 1:4 de jeunes garçons sans défaut corporel, beaux de figure, doués de sagesse, d'intelligence et d'instruction, capables de servir dans le palais du roi, et à qui l'on enseignerait les lettres et la langue des Chaldéens.(F) Dan 1:4 Knaben, die nicht gebrechlich wären, sondern schöne, vernünftige, weise, kluge und verständige, die da geschickt wären, zu dienen an des Königs Hofe und zu lernen chaldäische Schrift und Sprache.(D) Dan 1:4 νεανίσκους ἀμώμους καὶ εὐειδεῖς καὶ ἐπιστήμονας ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ καὶ γραμματικοὺς καὶ συνετοὺς καὶ σοφοὺς καὶ ἰσχύοντας ὥστε εἶναι ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ διδάξαι αὐτοὺς γράμματα καὶ διάλεκτον Χαλδαϊκὴν(lxx) Dan 1:4 young men in whom there was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom, possessing knowledge and quick to understand, who had ability to serve in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the language and literature of the Chaldeans.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:5 ============ Dan 1:5 The king appointed for them a daily ration from the king's choice food and from the wine which he drank, and appointed that they should be educated three years, at the end of which they were to enter the king's personal service.(nasb) Dan 1:5 Et constituit eis rex annonam per singulos dies de cibis suis, et de vino unde bibebat ipse, ut enutriti tribus annis, postea starent in conspectu regis.(vulgate) Daniel 1:5 Y el rey les señaló una porción para cada día de la comida del rey y del vino que él bebía; y que los criase tres años, para que al fin de ellos estuviesen delante del rey.(E) Daniel 1:5 Le roi leur assigna pour chaque jour une portion des mets de sa table et du vin dont il buvait, voulant les élever pendant trois années, au bout desquelles ils seraient au service du roi.(F) Dan 1:5 Solchen bestimmte der König, was man ihnen täglich geben sollte von seiner Speise und vom Wein, den er selbst trank, daß sie also drei Jahre auferzogen würden und darnach dem König dienen sollten.(D) Dan 1:5 καὶ δίδοσθαι αὐτοῖς ἔκθεσιν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως καθ᾽ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς βασιλικῆς τραπέζης καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ οἴνου οὗ πίνει ὁ βασιλεύς καὶ ἐκπαιδεῦσαι αὐτοὺς ἔτη τρία καὶ ἐκ τούτων στῆσαι ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ βασιλέως(lxx) Dan 1:5 And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king's delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might serve before the king.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:6 ============ Dan 1:6 Now among them from the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.(nasb) Dan 1:6 Fuerunt ergo inter eos de filiis Juda, Daniel, Ananias, Misael, et Azarias.(vulgate) Daniel 1:6 Y estaban entre ellos, de los hijos de Judá, Daniel, Ananías, Misael y Azarías;(E) Daniel 1:6 Il y avait parmi eux, d'entre les enfants de Juda, Daniel, Hanania, Mischaël et Azaria.(F) Dan 1:6 Unter diesen war Dan el, Hananja, Misael und Asarja von den Kindern Juda.(D) Dan 1:6 καὶ ἦσαν ἐκ τοῦ γένους τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ τῶν ἀπὸ τῆς Ιουδαίας Δανιηλ Ανανιας Μισαηλ Αζαριας(lxx) Dan 1:6 Now from among those of the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:7 ============ Dan 1:7 Then the commander of the officials assigned new names to them; and to Daniel he assigned the name Belteshazzar, to Hananiah Shadrach, to Mishael Meshach and to Azariah Abed-nego.(nasb) Dan 1:7 Et imposuit eis praepositus eunuchorum nomina: Danieli, Baltassar; Ananiae, Sidrach; Misaeli, Misach; et Azariae, Abdenago.(vulgate) Daniel 1:7 a los cuales el príncipe de los eunucos puso nombres. A Daniel llamó Beltsasar; y a Ananías, Sadrac; y a Misael, Mesac; y a Azarías, Abed-nego.(E) Daniel 1:7 Le chef des eunuques leur donna des noms, à Daniel celui de Beltschatsar, à Hanania celui de Schadrac, à Mischaël celui de Méschac, et à Azaria celui d'Abed-Nego.(F) Dan 1:7 Und der oberste Kämmerer gab ihnen Namen und nannte Dan el Beltsazar und Hananja Sadrach und Misael Mesach und Asarja Abed-Nego.(D) Dan 1:7 καὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἀρχιευνοῦχος ὀνόματα τῷ μὲν Δανιηλ Βαλτασαρ τῷ δὲ Ανανια Σεδραχ καὶ τῷ Μισαηλ Μισαχ καὶ τῷ Αζαρια Αβδεναγω(lxx) Dan 1:7 To them the chief of the eunuchs gave names: he gave Daniel the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:8 ============ Dan 1:8 But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king's choice food or with the wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself.(nasb) Dan 1:8 Proposuit autem Daniel in corde suo ne pollueretur de mensa regis, neque de vino potus ejus: et rogavit eunuchorum praepositum ne contaminaretur.(vulgate) Daniel 1:8 Y Daniel propuso en su corazón no contaminarse con la porción de la comida del rey, ni con el vino que él bebía; pidió, por tanto, al príncipe de los eunucos que se [le permitiese] no contaminarse.(E) Daniel 1:8 Daniel résolut de ne pas se souiller par les mets du roi et par le vin dont le roi buvait, et il pria le chef des eunuques de ne pas l'obliger à se souiller.(F) Dan 1:8 Aber Dan el setzte sich vor in seinem Herzen, daß er sich mit des Königs Speise und mit dem Wein, den er selbst trank, nicht verunreinigen wollte, und bat den obersten Kämmerer, daß er sich nicht müßte verunreinigen.(D) Dan 1:8 καὶ ἐνεθυμήθη Δανιηλ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ ὅπως μὴ ἀλισγηθῇ ἐν τῷ δείπνῳ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐν ᾧ πίνει οἴνῳ καὶ ἠξίωσε τὸν ἀρχιευνοῦχον ἵνα μὴ συμμολυνθῇ(lxx) Dan 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:9 ============ Dan 1:9 Now God granted Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the commander of the officials,(nasb) Dan 1:9 Dedit autem Deus Danieli gratiam et misericordiam in conspectu principis eunuchorum.(vulgate) Daniel 1:9 Y Dios puso a Daniel en gracia y en buena voluntad con el príncipe de los eunucos;(E) Daniel 1:9 Dieu fit trouver à Daniel faveur et grâce devant le chef des eunuques.(F) Dan 1:9 Und Gott gab Dan el, daß ihm der oberste Kämmerer günstig und gnädig ward.(D) Dan 1:9 καὶ ἔδωκε κύριος τῷ Δανιηλ τιμὴν καὶ χάριν ἐναντίον τοῦ ἀρχιευνούχου(lxx) Dan 1:9 Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:10 ============ Dan 1:10 and the commander of the officials said to Daniel, "I am afraid of my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink; for why should he see your faces looking more haggard than the youths who are your own age? Then you would make me forfeit my head to the king."(nasb) Dan 1:10 Et ait princeps eunuchorum ad Danielem: Timeo ego dominum meum regem, qui constituit vobis cibum et potum: qui si viderit vultus vestros macilentiores prae ceteris adolescentibus coaevis vestris, condemnabitis caput meum regi.(vulgate) Daniel 1:10 y dijo el príncipe de los eunucos a Daniel: Tengo temor de mi señor el rey, que señaló vuestra comida y vuestra bebida; pues luego que él vea vuestros rostros más demacrados que los de los muchachos que [son] semejantes a vosotros, condenaréis para con el rey mi cabeza.(E) Daniel 1:10 Le chef des eunuques dit à Daniel: Je crains mon seigneur le roi, qui a fixé ce que vous devez manger et boire; car pourquoi verrait-il votre visage plus abattu que celui des jeunes gens de votre âge? Vous exposeriez ma tête auprès du roi.(F) Dan 1:10 Derselbe sprach zu ihm: Ich fürchte mich vor meinem Herrn, dem König, der euch eure Speise und Trank bestimmt hat; wo er würde sehen, daß eure Angesichter jämmerlicher wären denn der andern Knaben eures Alters, so brächtet ihr mich bei dem König um mein Leben.(D) Dan 1:10 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἀρχιευνοῦχος τῷ Δανιηλ ἀγωνιῶ τὸν κύριόν μου τὸν βασιλέα τὸν ἐκτάξαντα τὴν βρῶσιν ὑμῶν καὶ τὴν πόσιν ὑμῶν ἵνα μὴ ἴδῃ τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν διατετραμμένα καὶ ἀσθενῆ παρὰ τοὺς συντρεφομένους ὑμῖν νεανίας τῶν ἀλλογενῶν καὶ κινδυνεύσω τῷ ἰδίῳ τραχήλῳ(lxx) Dan 1:10 And the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, "I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and drink. For why should he see your faces looking worse than the young men who are your age? Then you would endanger my head before the king."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:11 ============ Dan 1:11 But Daniel said to the overseer whom the commander of the officials had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah,(nasb) Dan 1:11 Et dixit Daniel ad Malasar, quem constituerat princeps eunuchorum super Danielem, Ananiam, Misaelem, et Azariam:(vulgate) Daniel 1:11 Entonces dijo Daniel a Melsar, que estaba puesto por el príncipe de los eunucos sobre Daniel, Ananías, Misael y Azarías:(E) Daniel 1:11 Alors Daniel dit à l'intendant à qui le chef des eunuques avait remis la surveillance de Daniel, de Hanania, de Mischaël et d'Azaria:(F) Dan 1:11 Da sprach Dan el zu dem Aufseher, welchem der oberste Kämmerer Dan el, Hananja, Misael und Asarja befohlen hatte:(D) Dan 1:11 καὶ εἶπεν Δανιηλ Αβιεσδρι τῷ ἀναδειχθέντι ἀρχιευνούχῳ ἐπὶ τὸν Δανιηλ Ανανιαν Μισαηλ Αζαριαν(lxx) Dan 1:11 So Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:12 ============ Dan 1:12 "Please test your servants for ten days, and let us be given some vegetables to eat and water to drink.(nasb) Dan 1:12 Tenta nos, obsecro, servos tuos, diebus decem, et dentur nobis legumina ad vescendum, et aqua ad bibendum:(vulgate) Daniel 1:12 Prueba, te ruego, con tus siervos [por] diez días, y que nos den legumbres a comer, y agua a beber.(E) Daniel 1:12 Eprouve tes serviteurs pendant dix jours, et qu'on nous donne des légumes à manger et de l'eau à boire;(F) Dan 1:12 Versuche es doch mit deinen Knechten zehn Tage und laß uns geben Gemüse zu essen und Wasser zu trinken.(D) Dan 1:12 πείρασον δὴ τοὺς παῖδάς σου ἐφ᾽ ἡμέρας δέκα καὶ δοθήτω ἡμῖν ἀπὸ τῶν ὀσπρίων τῆς γῆς ὥστε κάπτειν καὶ ὑδροποτεῖν(lxx) Dan 1:12 "Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:13 ============ Dan 1:13 Then let our appearance be observed in your presence and the appearance of the youths who are eating the king's choice food; and deal with your servants according to what you see."(nasb) Dan 1:13 et contemplare vultus nostros, et vultus puerorum, qui vescuntur cibo regio: et sicut videris, facies cum servis tuis.(vulgate) Daniel 1:13 Parezcan luego delante de ti nuestros rostros, y los rostros de los muchachos que comen de la porción de la comida del rey; y según lo que vieres, harás con tus siervos.(E) Daniel 1:13 tu regarderas ensuite notre visage et celui des jeunes gens qui mangent les mets du roi, et tu agiras avec tes serviteurs d'après ce que tu auras vu.(F) Dan 1:13 Und laß dann vor dir unsre Gestalt und der Knaben, so von des Königs Speise essen, besehen; und darnach du sehen wirst, darnach schaffe mit deinen Knechten.(D) Dan 1:13 καὶ ἐὰν φανῇ ἡ ὄψις ἡμῶν διατετραμμένη παρὰ τοὺς ἄλλους νεανίσκους τοὺς ἐσθίοντας ἀπὸ τοῦ βασιλικοῦ δείπνου καθὼς ἐὰν θέλῃς οὕτω χρῆσαι τοῖς παισί σου(lxx) Dan 1:13 Then let our appearance be examined before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portion of the king's delicacies; and as you see fit, so deal with your servants."(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:14 ============ Dan 1:14 So he listened to them in this matter and tested them for ten days.(nasb) Dan 1:14 Qui, audito sermone hujuscemodi, tentavit eos diebus decem.(vulgate) Daniel 1:14 Consintió, pues, con ellos en esto, y probó con ellos diez días.(E) Daniel 1:14 Il leur accorda ce qu'ils demandaient, et les éprouva pendant dix jours.(F) Dan 1:14 Und er gehorchte ihnen darin und versuchte es mit ihnen zehn Tage.(D) Dan 1:14 καὶ ἐχρήσατο αὐτοῖς τὸν τρόπον τοῦτον καὶ ἐπείρασεν αὐτοὺς ἡμέρας δέκα(lxx) Dan 1:14 So he consented with them in this matter, and tested them ten days.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:15 ============ Dan 1:15 At the end of ten days their appearance seemed better and they were fatter than all the youths who had been eating the king's choice food.(nasb) Dan 1:15 Post dies autem decem, apparuerunt vultus eorum meliores, et corpulentiores prae omnibus pueris, qui vescebantur cibo regio.(vulgate) Daniel 1:15 Y al cabo de los diez días pareció el rostro de ellos mejor y más robusto que el de los otros muchachos que comían de la porción de la comida del rey.(E) Daniel 1:15 Au bout de dix jours, ils avaient meilleur visage et plus d'embonpoint que tous les jeunes gens qui mangeaient les mets du roi.(F) Dan 1:15 Und nach den zehn Tagen waren sie schöner und besser bei Leibe denn alle Knaben, so von des Königs Speise aßen.(D) Dan 1:15 μετὰ δὲ τὰς δέκα ἡμέρας ἐφάνη ἡ ὄψις αὐτῶν καλὴ καὶ ἡ ἕξις τοῦ σώματος κρείσσων τῶν ἄλλων νεανίσκων τῶν ἐσθιόντων τὸ βασιλικὸν δεῖπνον(lxx) Dan 1:15 And at the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king's delicacies.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:16 ============ Dan 1:16 So the overseer continued to withhold their choice food and the wine they were to drink, and kept giving them vegetables.(nasb) Dan 1:16 Porro Malasar tollebat cibaria, et vinum potus eorum: dabatque eis legumina.(vulgate) Daniel 1:16 Así fue que Melsar tomaba la porción de la comida de ellos, y el vino que habían de beber, y les daba legumbres.(E) Daniel 1:16 L'intendant emportait les mets et le vin qui leur étaient destinés, et il leur donnait des légumes.(F) Dan 1:16 Da tat der Aufseher ihre verordnete Speise und Trank weg und gab ihnen Gemüse.(D) Dan 1:16 καὶ ἦν Αβιεσδρι ἀναιρούμενος τὸ δεῖπνον αὐτῶν καὶ τὸν οἶνον αὐτῶν καὶ ἀντεδίδου αὐτοῖς ἀπὸ τῶν ὀσπρίων(lxx) Dan 1:16 Thus the steward took away their portion of delicacies and the wine that they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.(nkjv) ======= Daniel 1:17 ============ Dan 1:17 As for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in every branch of literature and wisdom; Daniel even understood all kinds of visions and dreams.(nasb) Dan 1:17 Pueris autem his dedit Deus scientiam et disciplinam, in omni libro et sapientia: Danieli autem intelligentiam omnium visionum et somniorum.(vulgate) Daniel 1:17 Y a estos cuatro muchachos Dios les dio conocimiento e inteligencia en todas las letras y sabiduría; mas Daniel tuvo entendimiento en toda visión y sueños.(E) Daniel 1:17 Dieu accorda à ces quatre jeunes gens de la science, de l'intelligence dans toutes les lettres, et de la sagesse; et Daniel expliquait toutes les visions et tous les songes.(F) Dan 1:17 Aber diesen vier Knaben gab Gott Kunst und Verstand in allerlei Schrift und Weisheit; Dan el aber gab er Verstand in allen Gesichten und Träumen.(D) Dan 1:17 καὶ τοῖς νεανίσκοις ἔδωκεν ὁ κύριος ἐπιστήμην καὶ σύνεσιν καὶ φρόνησιν ἐν πάσῃ γραμματικῇ τέχνῃ καὶ τῷ Δανιηλ ἔδωκε σύνεσιν ἐν παντὶ ῥήματι καὶ ὁράματι καὶ ἐνυπνίοις καὶ ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ(lxx) Dan 1:17 As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom;
