righteousness," and then also king of Salem, meaning "king of peace,"(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:3 ============ Heb 7:3 Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually.(nasb) Heb 7:3 sine patre, sine matre, sine genealogia, neque initium dierum, neque finem vitæ habens, assimilatus autem Filio Dei, manet sacerdos in perpetuum.~(vulgate) Hebreos 7:3 sin padre, sin madre, sin genealogía; que ni tiene principio de días, ni fin de vida, sino hecho semejante al Hijo de Dios, permanece without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:4 ============ Heb 7:4 Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the choicest spoils.(nasb) Heb 7:4 Intuemini autem quantus sit hic, cui et decimas dedit de præcipuis Abraham Hebrews 7:5 ============ Heb 7:5 And those indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest's office have commandment in the Law to collect a tenth from the people, that is, from their brethren, although these are descended from Abraham.(nasb) Heb 7:5 Et quidem de filiis Levi sacerdotium accipientes, mandatum habent decimas sumere a populo secundum legem, id est, a fratribus suis: quamquam et ipsi exierint de lumbis Abrahæ.(vulgate) Hebreos 7:5 Y ciertamente los que de entre los hijos de Leví reciben el sacerdocio, tienen mandamiento de tomar del pueblo los diezmos según la ley, es decir, de sus hermanos aunque también éstos hayan salido de los lomos de Abraham.(E) Hébreux 7:5 Ceux des fils de Lévi qui exercent le sacerdoce ont, d'après la loi, l'ordre de lever la dîme sur le peuple, to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of Abraham;(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:6 ============ Heb 7:6 But the one whose genealogy is not traced from them collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises.(nasb) Heb 7:6 Cujus autem generatio non annumeratur in eis, decimas sumpsit ab Abraham, et Zehnten von Abraham und segnete den, der die Verheißungen hatte.(D) Heb 7:6 ὁ δὲ μὴ γενεαλογούμενος ἐξ αὐτῶν δεδεκάτωκεν ἀβραάμ, καὶ τὸν ἔχοντα τὰς ἐπαγγελίας εὐλόγηκεν.(Nestle-Aland) Heb 7:6 but he whose genealogy is not derived from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:7 ============ Heb 7:7 But without any dispute the lesser is blessed ἀντιλογίας τὸ ἔλαττον ὑπὸ τοῦ κρείττονος εὐλογεῖται.(Nestle-Aland) Heb 7:7 Now beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:8 ============ Heb 7:8 In this case mortal men receive tithes, but in that case one receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives on.(nasb) Heb 7:8 Et hic quidem, decimas morientes homines accipiunt: ibi autem contestatur, quia Melchizedek met him.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:11 ============ Heb 7:11 Now if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the people received the Law), what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be designated according to the order of Aaron?(nasb) Heb 7:11 Si ergo consummatio per sacerdotium Leviticum erat (populus enim sub ipso legem accepit) quid adhuc necessarium fuit secundum ordinem Melchisedech, alium surgere sacerdotem, et non secundum ordinem Aaron dici?(vulgate) Hebreos 7:11 Así que, si la perfección fuera por el sacerdocio levítico (porque bajo él recibió el pueblo la ley) ¿qué necesidad había aún de que se levantase otro sacerdote según el orden de Melquisedec, y que no fuese llamado según el orden de Aarón?(E) Hébreux 7:11 Si donc la perfection avait été possible par le sacerdoce Lévitique, -car c'est sur ce sacerdoce que repose la loi donnée au peuple, -qu'était-il encore besoin qu'il parût un autre sacrificateur selon l'ordre de Melchisédek, et non selon l'ordre d'Aaron?(F) Heb 7:11 Ist nun die Vollkommenheit durch das levitische Priestertum geschehen (denn unter demselben hat das Volk das Gesetz empfangen), was ist denn weiter not zu sagen, daß ein anderer Priester aufkommen solle nach der Ordnung Melchisedeks und nicht nach der Ordnung Aarons?(D) Heb 7:11 εἰ μὲν οὗν τελείωσις διὰ τῆς λευιτικῆς ἱερωσύνης ἦν, ὁ λαὸς γὰρ ἐπ᾽ αὐτῆς νενομοθέτηται, τίς ἔτι χρεία κατὰ τὴν τάξιν μελχισέδεκ ἕτερον ἀνίστασθαι ἱερέα καὶ οὐ κατὰ τὴν τάξιν ἀαρὼν λέγεσθαι;(Nestle-Aland) Heb 7:11 Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of 7:13 ============ Heb 7:13 For the one concerning whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.(nasb) Heb 7:13 In quo enim hæc dicuntur, de alia of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:15 ============ Heb 7:15 And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek,(nasb) Heb 7:15 Et amplius adhuc manifestum est: si secundum similitudinem Melchisedech exsurgat alius sacerdos,(vulgate) Hebreos 7:15 Y aun es mucho más manifiesto, si a semejanza de Melquisedec se levanta un sacerdote diferente;(E) Hébreux 7:15 Cela devient plus évident encore, quand il paraît un autre sacrificateur à la ressemblance de Melchisédek,(F) Heb 7:15 Und es ist noch viel klarer, so nach der Weise Melchisedeks ein andrer Priester aufkommt,(D) Heb 7:15 καὶ περισσότερον ἔτι κατάδηλόν ἐστιν, εἰ κατὰ τὴν ὁμοιότητα μελχισέδεκ ἀνίσταται ἱερεὺς ἕτερος,(Nestle-Aland) Heb 7:15 And it is yet far more evident if, in the likeness of Melchizedek, there arises another priest(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:16 ============ Heb 7:16 who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life.(nasb) Heb 7:16 qui non secundum legem mandati carnalis factus est, sed secundum virtutem vitæ insolubilis.(vulgate) Hebreos la puissance d'une vie impérissable;(F) Heb 7:16 welcher nicht nach dem Gesetz des fleischlichen Gebots gemacht ist, sondern nach der Kraft des unendlichen Lebens.(D) Heb 7:16 ὃς οὐ κατὰ νόμον ἐντολῆς σαρκίνης γέγονεν ἀλλὰ κατὰ δύναμιν ζωῆς ἀκαταλύτου,(Nestle-Aland) Heb 7:16 who has come, not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:17 ============ Heb 7:17 For it is attested of Him, "YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK."(nasb) Heb 7:17 Contestatur enim: Quoniam tu es sacerdos in æternum, one hand, there is a setting aside of a former commandment because of its weakness and uselessness(nasb) Heb 7:18 Reprobatio quidem fit præcedentis mandati, propter infirmitatem ejus, et inutilitatem:(vulgate) Hebreos 7:18 Porque ciertamente el mandamiento precedente es abrogado por su debilidad e ineficacia.(E) Hébreux 7:18 Il y a ainsi abolition d'une ordonnance antérieure, à cause de son impuissance et de son inutilité, -(F) Heb 7:18 Denn damit wird das vorige Gebot aufgehoben, darum daß es zu schwach und nicht nütze war(D) Heb 7:18 ἀθέτησις μὲν γὰρ γίνεται προαγούσης ἐντολῆς διὰ τὸ αὐτῆς ἀσθενὲς καὶ ἀνωφελές,(Nestle-Aland) Heb 7:18 For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness,(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:19 ============ Heb 7:19 (for the Law made nothing perfect), and on the other hand there is a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.(nasb) Heb 7:19 nihil enim ad perfectum adduxit lex: introductio vero melioris spei, per quam proximamus ad Deum.(vulgate) Hebreos 7:19 Porque la ley nada perfeccionó; mas [lo hizo] la introducción de mejor esperanza, por la cual nos acercamos a Dios.(E) Hébreux 7:19 car la loi n'a rien amené à la perfection, -et introduction d'une meilleure espérance, par laquelle nous nous approchons de Dieu.(F) Heb 7:19 (denn das Gesetz konnte nichts vollkommen machen); und wird eingeführt eine bessere Hoffnung, durch welche wir zu Gott nahen;(D) Heb 7:19 οὐδὲν γὰρ ἐτελείωσεν ὁ νόμος, ἐπεισαγωγὴ δὲ κρείττονος ἐλπίδος, δι᾽ ἧς ἐγγίζομεν τῶ θεῶ.(Nestle-Aland) Heb 7:19 for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:20 ============ Heb 7:20 And inasmuch as it was not without an oath(nasb) Heb 7:20 Et quantum est non sine jurejurando (alii quidem sine jurejurando sacerdotes facti sunt,(vulgate) Hebreos 7:20 Y tanto más en cuanto no sin juramento [fue hecho Él sacerdote];(E) Hébreux 7:20 Et, comme cela n'a pas eu lieu sans serment,(F) Heb 7:20 und dazu, was viel ist, nicht ohne Eid. Denn jene sind ohne Eid Priester geworden,(D) Heb 7:20 καὶ καθ᾽ ὅσον οὐ χωρὶς ὁρκωμοσίας, οἱ μὲν γὰρ χωρὶς ὁρκωμοσίας εἰσὶν ἱερεῖς γεγονότες,(Nestle-Aland) Heb 7:20 And inasmuch as He was not made priest without an oath(nkjv) ======= Hebrews 7:21 ============ Heb 7:21 (for they indeed became priests without an oath, but He with an oath through the One who said to Him, "THE LORD HAS SWORN AND WILL NOT CHANGE HIS MIND, 'YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER'");(nasb) Heb 7:21 hic autem cum jurejurando per eum, qui dixit ad illum: Juravit Dominus, et non pœnitebit eum: tu es sacerdos in æternum):(vulgate) Hebreos 7:21 porque los otros ciertamente sin juramento fueron hechos sacerdotes;
