(Hebrew) 1 ׃78 מַשְׂכִּ֗יל לְאָ֫סָ֥ף הַאֲזִ֣ינָה עַ֭מִּי תּוֹרָתִ֑י הַטּ֥וּ אָ֝זְנְכֶ֗ם לְאִמְרֵי פִֽי׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:1 Listen, O my people, to my instruction; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:2---- (Hebrew) 2 ׃78 אֶפְתְּחָ֣ה בְמָשָׁ֣ל פִּ֑י אַבִּ֥יעָה חִ֝יד֗וֹת מִנִּי־קֶֽדֶם׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:3---- (Hebrew) 3 ׃78 אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁ֭מַעְנוּ וַנֵּדָעֵ֑ם וַ֝אֲבוֹתֵ֗ינוּ סִפְּרוּ־לָֽנוּ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:3 Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:4---- (Hebrew) 4 ׃78 לֹ֤א נְכַחֵ֨ד ׀ מִבְּנֵיהֶ֗ם לְד֥וֹר אַחֲר֗וֹן מְֽ֭סַפְּרִים תְּהִלּ֣וֹת יְהוָ֑ה וֶעֱזוּז֥וֹ וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָֽׂה׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:4 We will not conceal them from their children, But tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:5---- (Hebrew) 5 ׃78 וַיָּ֤קֶם עֵד֨וּת ׀ בְּֽיַעֲקֹ֗ב וְתוֹרָה֮ שָׂ֤ם בְּיִשְׂרָ֫אֵ֥ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִ֭וָּה אֶת־אֲבוֹתֵ֑ינוּ לְ֝הוֹדִיעָ֗ם לִבְנֵיהֶֽם׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:5 For He established a testimony in Jacob And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers That they should teach them to their children,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:6---- (Hebrew) 6 ׃78 לְמַ֤עַן יֵדְע֨וּ ׀ דּ֣וֹר אַ֭חֲרוֹן בָּנִ֣ים יִוָּלֵ֑דוּ יָ֝קֻ֗מוּ וִֽיסַפְּר֥וּ לִבְנֵיהֶֽם׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:6 That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, That they may arise and tell them to their children,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:7---- (Hebrew) 7 ׃78 וְיָשִׂ֥ימוּ בֵֽאלֹהִ֗ים כִּ֫סְלָ֥ם וְלֹ֣א יִ֭שְׁכְּחוּ מַֽעַלְלֵי אֵ֑ל וּמִצְוֺתָ֥יו יִנְצֹֽרוּ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:7 That they should put their confidence in God And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:8---- (Hebrew) 8 ׃78 וְלֹ֤א יִהְי֨וּ ׀ כַּאֲבוֹתָ֗ם דּוֹר֮ סוֹרֵ֢ר וּמֹ֫רֶ֥ה דּ֭וֹר לֹא־הֵכִ֣ין לִבּ֑וֹ וְלֹא־נֶאֶמְנָ֖ה אֶת־אֵ֣ל רוּחֽוֹ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:8 And not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not prepare its heart And whose spirit was not faithful to God.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:9---- (Hebrew) 9 ׃78 בְּֽנֵי־אֶפְרַ֗יִם נוֹשְׁקֵ֥י רוֹמֵי־קָ֑שֶׁת הָ֝פְכ֗וּ בְּי֣וֹם קְרָֽב׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:9 The sons of Ephraim were archers equipped with bows, Yet they turned back in the day of battle.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:10---- (Hebrew) 10 ׃78 לֹ֣א שָׁ֭מְרוּ בְּרִ֣ית אֱלֹהִ֑ים וּ֝בְתוֹרָת֗וֹ מֵאֲנ֥וּ לָלֶֽכֶת׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:10 They did not keep the covenant of God And refused to walk in His law;(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:11---- (Hebrew) 11 ׃78 וַיִּשְׁכְּח֥וּ עֲלִילוֹתָ֑יו וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֶרְאָֽם׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:11 They forgot His deeds And His miracles that He had shown them.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:12---- (Hebrew) 12 ׃78 נֶ֣גֶד אֲ֭בוֹתָם עָ֣שָׂה פֶ֑לֶא בְּאֶ֖רֶץ מִצְרַ֣יִם שְׂדֵה־צֹֽעַן׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:12 He wrought wonders before their fathers In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:13---- (Hebrew) 13 ׃78 בָּ֣קַע יָ֭ם וַיַּֽעֲבִירֵ֑ם וַֽיַּצֶּב־מַ֥יִם כְּמוֹ־נֵ[c]ד׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:13 He divided the sea and caused them to pass through, And He made the waters stand up like a heap.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:14---- (Hebrew) 14 ׃78 וַיַּנְחֵ֣ם בֶּעָנָ֣ן יוֹמָ֑ם וְכָל־הַ֝לַּ֗יְלָה בְּא֣וֹר אֵֽשׁ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:14 Then He led them with the cloud by day And all the night with a light of fire.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:15---- (Hebrew) 15 ׃78 יְבַקַּ֣ע צֻ֭רִים בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר וַ֝יַּ֗שְׁקְ כִּתְהֹמ֥וֹת רַבָּֽה׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:15 He split the rocks in the wilderness And gave them abundant drink like the ocean depths.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:16---- (Hebrew) 16 ׃78 וַיּוֹצִ֣א נוֹזְלִ֣ים מִסָּ֑לַע וַיּ֖וֹרֶד כַּנְּהָר֣וֹת מָֽיִם׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:16 He brought forth streams also from the rock And caused waters to run down like rivers.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:17---- (Hebrew) 17 ׃78 וַיּוֹסִ֣יפוּ ע֖[d]וֹד לַחֲטֹא־ל֑וֹ לַֽמְר֥וֹת עֶ֝לְי֗וֹן בַּצִּיָּֽה׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:17 Yet they still continued to sin against Him, To rebel against the Most High in the desert.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:18---- (Hebrew) 18 ׃78 וַיְנַסּוּ־אֵ֥ל בִּלְבָבָ֑ם לִֽשְׁאָל־אֹ֥כֶל לְנַפְשָֽׁם׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:18 And in their heart they put God to the test By asking food according to their desire.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:19---- (Hebrew) 19 ׃78 וַֽיְדַבְּר֗וּ בֵּֽאלֹ֫הִ֥ים אָ֭מְרוּ הֲי֣וּכַל אֵ֑ל לַעֲרֹ֥ךְ שֻׁ֝לְחָ֗ן בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:19 Then they spoke against God; They said, "Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:20---- (Hebrew) 20 ׃78 הֵ֤ן הִכָּה־צ֨וּר ׀ וַיָּז֣וּבוּ מַיִם֮ וּנְחָלִ֢ים יִ֫שְׁטֹ֥פוּ הֲגַם־לֶ֭חֶם י֣וּכַל תֵּ֑ת אִם־יָכִ֖ין שְׁאֵ֣ר לְעַמּֽוֹ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:20 "Behold, He struck the rock so that waters gushed out, And streams were overflowing; Can He give bread also? Will He provide meat for His people?"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:21---- (Hebrew) 21 ׃78 לָכֵ֤ן ׀ שָׁמַ֥ע יְהוָ֗ה וַֽיִּתְעַבָּ֥ר וְ֭אֵשׁ נִשְּׂקָ֣ה בְיַעֲקֹ֑ב וְגַם־אַ֝֗ף עָלָ֥ה בְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:21 Therefore the Lord heard and was full of wrath; And a fire was kindled against Jacob And anger also mounted against Israel,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:22---- (Hebrew) 22 ׃78 כִּ֤י לֹ֣א הֶ֭אֱמִינוּ בֵּאלֹהִ֑ים וְלֹ֥א בָ֝טְח֗וּ בִּֽישׁוּעָתֽוֹ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:22 Because they did not believe in God And did not trust in His salvation.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:23---- (Hebrew) 23 ׃78 וַיְצַ֣ו שְׁחָקִ֣ים מִמָּ֑עַל וְדַלְתֵ֖י שָׁמַ֣יִם פָּתָֽח׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:23 Yet He commanded the clouds above And opened the doors of heaven;(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:24---- (Hebrew) 24 ׃78 וַיַּמְטֵ֬ר עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם מָ֣ן לֶאֱכֹ֑ל וּדְגַן־שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם נָ֣תַן לָֽמוֹ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:24 He rained down manna upon them to eat And gave them food from heaven.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:25---- (Hebrew) 25 ׃78 לֶ֣חֶם אַ֭בִּירִים אָ֣כַל אִ֑ישׁ צֵידָ֬ה שָׁלַ֖ח לָהֶ֣ם לָשֹֽׂבַע׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:25 Man did eat the bread of angels; He sent them food in abundance.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:26---- (Hebrew) 26 ׃78 יַסַּ֣ע קָ֭דִים בַּשָּׁמָ֑יִם וַיְנַהֵ֖ג בְּעֻזּ֣וֹ תֵימָֽן׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:26 He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens And by His power He directed the south wind.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:27---- (Hebrew) 27 ׃78 וַיַּמְטֵ֬ר עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם כֶּעָפָ֣ר שְׁאֵ֑ר וּֽכְח֥וֹל יַ֝מִּ֗ים ע֣וֹף כָּנָֽף׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:27 When He rained meat upon them like the dust, Even winged fowl like the sand of the seas,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:28---- (Hebrew) 28 ׃78 וַ֭יַּפֵּל בְּקֶ֣רֶב מַחֲנֵ֑הוּ סָ֝בִ֗יב לְמִשְׁכְּנֹתָֽיו׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:28 Then He let them fall in the midst of their camp, Round about their dwellings.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:29---- (Hebrew) 29 ׃78 וַיֹּאכְל֣וּ וַיִּשְׂבְּע֣וּ מְאֹ֑ד וְ֝תַֽאֲוָתָ֗ם יָבִ֥א לָהֶֽם׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:29 So they ate and were well filled, And their desire He gave to them.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:30---- (Hebrew) 30 ׃78 לֹא־זָ֥רוּ מִתַּאֲוָתָ֑ם ע֝֗וֹד אָכְלָ֥ם בְּפִיהֶֽם׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:30 Before they had satisfied their desire, While their food was in their mouths,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:31---- (Hebrew) 31 ׃78 וְאַ֤ף אֱלֹהִ֨ים ׀ עָ֘לָ֤ה בָהֶ֗ם וַֽ֭יַּהֲרֹג בְּמִשְׁמַנֵּיהֶ֑ם וּבַחוּרֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל הִכְרִֽיעַ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:31 The anger of God rose against them And killed some of their stoutest ones, And subdued the choice men of Israel.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:32---- (Hebrew) 32 ׃78 בְּכָל־זֹ֥את חָֽטְאוּ־ע֑וֹד וְלֹֽא־הֶ֝אֱמִ֗ינוּ בְּנִפְלְאוֹתָֽיו׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:32 In spite of all this they still sinned And did not believe in His wonderful works.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:33---- (Hebrew) 33 ׃78 וַיְכַל־בַּהֶ֥בֶל יְמֵיהֶ֑ם וּ֝שְׁנוֹתָ֗ם בַּבֶּהָלָֽה׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:33 So He brought their days to an end in futility And their years in sudden terror.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:34---- (Hebrew) 34 ׃78 אִם־הֲרָגָ֥ם וּדְרָשׁ֑וּהוּ וְ֝שָׁ֗בוּ וְשִֽׁחֲרוּ־אֵֽל׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:34 When He killed them, then they sought Him, And returned and searched diligently for God;(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:35---- (Hebrew) 35 ׃78 וַֽ֭יִּזְכְּרוּ כִּֽי־אֱלֹהִ֣ים צוּרָ֑ם וְאֵ֥ל עֶ֝לְיוֹן גֹּאֲלָֽם׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:35 And they remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High God their Redeemer.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:36---- (Hebrew) 36 ׃78 וַיְפַתּ֥וּהוּ בְּפִיהֶ֑ם וּ֝בִלְשׁוֹנָ֗ם יְכַזְּבוּ־לֽוֹ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:36 But they deceived Him with their mouth And lied to Him with their tongue.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:37---- (Hebrew) 37 ׃78 וְ֭לִבָּם לֹא־נָכ֣וֹן עִמּ֑וֹ וְלֹ֥א נֶ֝אֶמְנ֗וּ בִּבְרִיתֽוֹ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:37 For their heart was not steadfast toward Him, Nor were they faithful in His covenant.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:38---- (Hebrew) 38 ׃78 וְה֤וּא רַח֨וּם ׀ יְכַפֵּ֥ר עָוֺן֮ וְֽלֹא־יַ֫שְׁחִ֥ית וְ֭הִרְבָּה לְהָשִׁ֣יב אַפּ֑וֹ וְלֹֽא־יָ֝עִיר כָּל־חֲמָתֽוֹ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:38 But He, being compassionate, forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them; And often He restrained His anger And did not arouse all His wrath.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:39---- (Hebrew) 39 ׃78 וַ֭יִּזְכֹּר כִּי־בָשָׂ֣ר הֵ֑מָּה ר֥וּחַ ה֝וֹלֵ֗ךְ וְלֹ֣א יָשֽׁוּב׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:39 Thus He remembered that they were but flesh, A wind that passes and does not return.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:40---- (Hebrew) 40 ׃78 כַּ֭מָּה יַמְר֣וּהוּ בַמִּדְבָּ֑ר יַ֝עֲצִיב֗וּהוּ בִּֽישִׁימֽוֹן׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:40 How often they rebelled against Him in the wilderness And grieved Him in the desert!(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:41---- (Hebrew) 41 ׃78 וַיָּשׁ֣וּבוּ וַיְנַסּ֣וּ אֵ֑ל וּקְד֖וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל הִתְווּ׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:41 Again and again they tempted God, And pained the Holy One of Israel.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:42---- (Hebrew) 42 ׃78 לֹא־זָכְר֥וּ אֶת־יָד֑וֹ י֝֗וֹם אֲֽשֶׁר־פָּדָ֥ם מִנִּי־צָֽר׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:42 They did not remember His power, The day when He redeemed them from the adversary,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:43---- (Hebrew) 43 ׃78 אֲשֶׁר־שָׂ֣ם בְּ֭מִצְרַיִם אֹֽתוֹתָ֑יו וּ֝מוֹפְתָ֗יו בִּשְׂדֵה־צֹֽעַן׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:43 When He performed His signs in Egypt And His marvels in the field of Zoan,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:44---- (Hebrew) 44 ׃78 וַיַּהֲפֹ֣ךְ לְ֭דָם יְאֹרֵיהֶ֑ם וְ֝נֹזְלֵיהֶ֗ם בַּל־יִשְׁתָּיֽוּן׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:44 And turned their rivers to blood, And their streams, they could not drink.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:45---- (Hebrew) 45 ׃78 יְשַׁלַּ֬ח בָּהֶ֣ם עָ֭רֹב וַיֹּאכְלֵ֑ם וּ֝צְפַרְדֵּ֗עַ וַתַּשְׁחִיתֵֽם׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:45 He sent among them swarms of flies which devoured them, And frogs which destroyed them.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:46---- (Hebrew) 46 ׃78 וַיִּתֵּ֣ן לֶחָסִ֣יל יְבוּלָ֑ם וִֽ֝יגִיעָ֗ם לָאַרְבֶּֽה׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:46 He gave also their crops to the grasshopper And the product of their labor to the locust.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:47---- (Hebrew) 47 ׃78 יַהֲרֹ֣ג בַּבָּרָ֣ד גַּפְנָ֑ם וְ֝שִׁקְמוֹתָ֗ם בַּֽחֲנָמַֽל׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:47 He destroyed their vines with hailstones And their sycamore trees with frost.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:48---- (Hebrew) 48 ׃78 וַיַּסְגֵּ֣ר לַבָּרָ֣ד בְּעִירָ֑ם וּ֝מִקְנֵיהֶ֗ם לָרְשָׁפִֽים׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:48 He gave over their cattle also to the hailstones And their herds to bolts of lightning.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:49---- (Hebrew) 49 ׃78 יְשַׁלַּח־בָּ֨ם ׀ חֲר֬וֹן אַפּ֗וֹ עֶבְרָ֣ה וָזַ֣עַם וְצָרָ֑ה מִ֝שְׁלַ֗חַת מַלְאֲכֵ֥י רָעִֽים׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:49 He sent upon them His burning anger, Fury and indignation and trouble, A band of destroying angels.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Psalm 78:50---- (Hebrew) 50 ׃78 יְפַלֵּ֥ס נָתִ֗יב לְאַ֫פּ֥וֹ לֹא־חָשַׂ֣ךְ מִמָּ֣וֶת נַפְשָׁ֑ם וְ֝חַיָּתָ֗ם לַדֶּ֥בֶר הִסְגִּֽיר׃ Psalms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psa 78:50 He leveled a path for His anger;
