(Hebrew) 1 ׃1 דְּבַר־יְהוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיָ֔ה אֶל־יוֹאֵ֖ל בֶּן־פְּתוּאֵֽל׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:1 The word of the Lord that came to Joel, the son of Pethuel:(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:2---- (Hebrew) 2 ׃1 שִׁמְעוּ־זֹאת֙ הַזְּקֵנִ֔ים וְהַֽאֲזִ֔ינוּ כֹּ֖ל יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ הֶהָ֤יְתָה זֹּאת֙ בִּֽימֵיכֶ֔ם וְאִ֖ם בִּימֵ֥י אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:2 Hear this, O elders, And listen, all inhabitants of the land. Has anything like this happened in your days Or in your fathers' days?(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:3---- (Hebrew) 3 ׃1 עָלֶ֖יהָ לִבְנֵיכֶ֣ם סַפֵּ֑רוּ וּבְנֵיכֶם֙ לִבְנֵיהֶ֔ם וּבְנֵיהֶ֖ם לְד֥וֹר אַחֵֽר׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:3 Tell your sons about it, And let your sons tell their sons, And their sons the next generation.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:4---- (Hebrew) 4 ׃1 יֶ֤תֶר הַגָּזָם֙ אָכַ֣ל הָֽאַרְבֶּ֔ה וְיֶ֥תֶר הָאַרְבֶּ֖ה אָכַ֣ל הַיָּ֑לֶק וְיֶ֣תֶר הַיֶּ֔לֶק אָכַ֖ל הֶחָסִֽיל׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:4 What the gnawing locust has left, the swarming locust has eaten; And what the swarming locust has left, the creeping locust has eaten; And what the creeping locust has left, the stripping locust has eaten.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:5---- (Hebrew) 5 ׃1 הָקִ֤יצוּ שִׁכּוֹרִים֙ וּבְכ֔וּ וְהֵילִ֖לוּ כָּל־שֹׁ֣תֵי יָ֑יִן עַל־עָסִ֕יס כִּ֥י נִכְרַ֖ת מִפִּיכֶֽם׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:5 Awake, drunkards, and weep; And wail, all you wine drinkers, On account of the sweet wine That is cut off from your mouth.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:6---- (Hebrew) 6 ׃1 כִּֽי־גוֹי֙ עָלָ֣ה עַל־אַרְצִ֔י עָצ֖וּם וְאֵ֣ין מִסְפָּ֑ר שִׁנָּיו֙ שִׁנֵּ֣י אַרְיֵ֔ה וּֽמְתַלְּע֥וֹת לָבִ֖יא לֽוֹ׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:6 For a nation has invaded my land, Mighty and without number; Its teeth are the teeth of a lion, And it has the fangs of a lioness.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:7---- (Hebrew) 7 ׃1 שָׂ֤ם גַּפְנִי֙ לְשַׁמָּ֔ה וּתְאֵנָתִ֖י לִקְצָפָ֑ה חָשֹׂ֤ף חֲשָׂפָהּ֙ וְהִשְׁלִ֔יךְ הִלְבִּ֖ינוּ שָׂרִיגֶֽיהָ׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:7 It has made my vine a waste And my fig tree splinters. It has stripped them bare and cast them away; Their branches have become white.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:8---- (Hebrew) 8 ׃1 אֱלִ֕י כִּבְתוּלָ֥ה חֲגֻֽרַת־שַׂ֖ק עַל־בַּ֥עַל נְעוּרֶֽיהָ׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:8 Wail like a virgin girded with sackcloth For the bridegroom of her youth.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:9---- (Hebrew) 9 ׃1 הָכְרַ֥ת מִנְחָ֛ה וָנֶ֖סֶךְ מִבֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה אָֽבְלוּ֙ הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים מְשָׁרְתֵ֖י יְהוָֽה׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:9 The grain offering and the drink offering are cut off From the house of the Lord. The priests mourn, The ministers of the Lord.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:10---- (Hebrew) 10 ׃1 שֻׁדַּ֣ד שָׂדֶ֔ה אָבְלָ֖ה אֲדָמָ֑ה כִּ֚י שֻׁדַּ֣ד דָּגָ֔ן הוֹבִ֥ישׁ תִּיר֖וֹשׁ אֻמְלַ֥ל יִצְהָֽר׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:10 The field is ruined, The land mourns; For the grain is ruined, The new wine dries up, Fresh oil fails.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:11---- (Hebrew) 11 ׃1 הֹבִ֣ישׁוּ אִכָּרִ֗ים הֵילִ֙ילוּ֙ כֹּֽרְמִ֔ים עַל־חִטָּ֖ה וְעַל־שְׂעֹרָ֑ה כִּ֥י אָבַ֖ד קְצִ֥יר שָׂדֶֽה׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:11 Be ashamed, O farmers, Wail, O vinedressers, For the wheat and the barley; Because the harvest of the field is destroyed.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:12---- (Hebrew) 12 ׃1 הַגֶּ֣פֶן הוֹבִ֔ישָׁה וְהַתְּאֵנָ֖ה אֻמְלָ֑לָה רִמּ֞וֹן גַּם־תָּמָ֣ר וְתַפּ֗וּחַ כָּל־עֲצֵ֤י הַשָּׂדֶה֙ יָבֵ֔שׁוּ כִּֽי־הֹבִ֥ישׁ שָׂשׂ֖וֹן מִן־בְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃ ס Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:12 The vine dries up And the fig tree fails; The pomegranate, the palm also, and the apple tree, All the trees of the field dry up. Indeed, rejoicing dries up From the sons of men.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:13---- (Hebrew) 13 ׃1 חִגְר֨וּ וְסִפְד֜וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים הֵילִ֙ילוּ֙ מְשָׁרְתֵ֣י מִזְבֵּ֔חַ בֹּ֚אוּ לִ֣ינוּ בַשַּׂקִּ֔ים מְשָׁרְתֵ֖י אֱלֹהָ֑י כִּ֥י נִמְנַ֛ע מִבֵּ֥ית אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם מִנְחָ֥ה וָנָֽסֶךְ׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:13 Gird yourselves with sackcloth And lament, O priests; Wail, O ministers of the altar! Come, spend the night in sackcloth O ministers of my God, For the grain offering and the drink offering Are withheld from the house of your God.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:14---- (Hebrew) 14 ׃1 קַדְּשׁוּ־צוֹם֙ קִרְא֣וּ עֲצָרָ֔ה אִסְפ֣וּ זְקֵנִ֗ים כֹּ֚ל יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ בֵּ֖ית יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם וְזַעֲק֖וּ אֶל־יְהוָֽה׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:14 Consecrate a fast, Proclaim a solemn assembly; Gather the elders And all the inhabitants of the land To the house of the Lord your God, And cry out to the Lord.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:15---- (Hebrew) 15 ׃1 אֲהָ֖הּ לַיּ֑וֹם כִּ֤י קָרוֹב֙ י֣וֹם יְהוָ֔ה וּכְשֹׁ֖ד מִשַׁדַּ֥י יָבֽוֹא׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:15 Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is near, And it will come as destruction from the Almighty.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:16---- (Hebrew) 16 ׃1 הֲל֛וֹא נֶ֥גֶד עֵינֵ֖ינוּ אֹ֣כֶל נִכְרָ֑ת מִבֵּ֥ית אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ שִׂמְחָ֥ה וָגִֽיל׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:16 Has not food been cut off before our eyes, Gladness and joy from the house of our God?(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:17---- (Hebrew) 17 ׃1 עָבְשׁ֣וּ פְרֻד֗וֹת תַּ֚חַת מֶגְרְפֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם נָשַׁ֙מּוּ֙ אֹֽצָר֔וֹת נֶהֶרְס֖וּ מַמְּגֻר֑וֹת כִּ֥י הֹבִ֖ישׁ דָּגָֽן׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:17 The seeds shrivel under their clods; The storehouses are desolate, The barns are torn down, For the grain is dried up.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:18---- (Hebrew) 18 ׃1 מַה־נֶּאֶנְחָ֣ה בְהֵמָ֗ה נָבֹ֙כוּ֙ עֶדְרֵ֣י בָקָ֔ר כִּ֛י אֵ֥ין מִרְעֶ֖ה לָהֶ֑ם גַּם־עֶדְרֵ֥י הַצֹּ֖אן נֶאְשָֽׁמוּ׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:18 How the beasts groan! The herds of cattle wander aimlessly Because there is no pasture for them; Even the flocks of sheep suffer.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:19---- (Hebrew) 19 ׃1 אֵלֶ֥יךָ יְהוָ֖ה אֶקְרָ֑א כִּ֣י אֵ֗שׁ אָֽכְלָה֙ נְא֣וֹת מִדְבָּ֔ר וְלֶ֣הָבָ֔ה לִהֲטָ֖ה כָּל־עֲצֵ֥י הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:19 To You, O Lord, I cry; For fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness And the flame has burned up all the trees of the field.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 1:20---- (Hebrew) 20 ׃1 גַּם־בַּהֲמ֥וֹת שָׂדֶ֖ה תַּעֲר֣וֹג אֵלֶ֑יךָ כִּ֤י יָֽבְשׁוּ֙ אֲפִ֣יקֵי מָ֔יִם וְאֵ֕שׁ אָכְלָ֖ה נְא֥וֹת הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃ פ Joel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe 1:20 Even the beasts of the field pant for You; For the water brooks are dried up And fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Joel 2:1 ---- written 835 B.C.
