(Hebrew) וַיָּקוּמוּ כָל־הַקָּהָל שָׁם וַיֹּלִיכֻהוּ אֶל־פִּילָטוֹס׃ א Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:1 Then the whole body of them got up and brought Him before Pilate.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:2---- (Hebrew) וַיָּחֵלּוּ לְשִׂטְנוֹ לֵאמֹר מָצָאנוּ אֶת־הָאִישׁ הַזֶה מְסַלֵּף אֶת־עַמֵּנוּ וּמַשְׁגֶּה אֹתָם מִתֵּת מַס לַקֵּיסַר בְּאָמְרוֹ כִּי הוּא הַמֶּלֶךְ הַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ ב Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:2 And they began to accuse Him, saying, "We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is Christ, a King."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:3---- (Hebrew) וַיִּשְׁאַל אֹתוֹ פִילָטוֹס לֵאמֹר הַאַתָּה מֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים וַיַּעַן אֹתוֹ וַיֹּאמֶר אַתָּה אָמָרְתָּ׃ ג Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:3 So Pilate asked Him, saying, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And He answered him and said, "It is as you say."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:4---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמֶר פִּילָטוֹס אֶל־רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְאֶל־הֲמוֹן הָעָם אֲנִי לֹא מָצָאתִי עָוֹן בָּאִישׁ הַזֶּה׃ ד Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:4 Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, "I find no guilt in this man."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:5---- (Hebrew) אַךְ הֵם הוֹסִיפוּ בְּיֶתֶר עֹז לֵאמֹר כִּי מַדִּיחַ הוּא אֶת־הָעָם בְּתוֹרָתוֹ בְּכָל־יְהוּדָה הָחֵל בַּגָּלִיל וְעַד־הֵנָּה׃ ה Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:5 But they kept on insisting, saying, "He stirs up the people, teaching all over Judea, starting from Galilee even as far as this place."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:6---- (Hebrew) וְכִשְׁמוֹעַ פִּילָטוֹס אֶת־שֵׁם הַגָּלִיל וַיִּשְׁאַל אִם־הָאִישׁ הוּא גְּלִילִי׃ ו Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:6 When Pilate heard it, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:7---- (Hebrew) וְכַאֲשֶׁר יָדַע כִּי־לְמֶמְשֶׁלֶת הוֹרודוֹס יֵחָשֵׁב וַיִּשְׁלָחֵהוּ אֶל־הוֹרְדוֹס אֲשֶׁר גַּם־הוּא יָשַׁב בִּירוּשָׁלַיִם בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם׃ ז Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:7 And when he learned that He belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who himself also was in Jerusalem at that time.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:8---- (Hebrew) וַיְהִי כִּרְאוֹת הוֹרְדוֹס אֶת־יֵשׁוּעַ וַיִשְׂמַח מְאֹד כִּי נִכְסַף לִרְאוֹתוֹ מִיָּמִים רַבִּים כַּאֲשֶׁר שָׁמַע אֶת־שָׁמְעוֹ וַיְקַו כִּי יַעֲשֶׂה אוֹת לְעֵינָיו׃ ח Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:8 Now Herod was very glad when he saw Jesus; for he had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had been hearing about Him and was hoping to see some sign performed by Him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:9---- (Hebrew) וַיִּשְׁאָלֵהוּ שְׁאֵלוֹת שֹׁנוֹת אַךְ הוּא לֹא־עָנָהוּ דָּבָר׃ ט Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:9 And he questioned Him at some length; but He answered him nothing.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:10---- (Hebrew) וַיָּקוּמוּ רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַסּוֹפְרִים וַיֹּסִיפוּ לְשִׂטְנוֹ בְּכָל־מַאֲמַצֵּי כֹחָם׃ י Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:10 And the chief priests and the scribes were standing there, accusing Him vehemently.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:11---- (Hebrew) וַיִּבֶז אֹתוֹ הוֹרְדוֹס וְחֵיל צְבָאוֹ וַיַּלְבֵּשׁ אֹתוֹ מְעִיל אַרְגָּמָן לְהָתֶל־בּוֹ וַיִּשְׁלָחֵהוּ אֶל־פִּילָטוֹס׃ יא Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:11 And Herod with his soldiers, after treating Him with contempt and mocking Him, dressed Him in a gorgeous robe and sent Him back to Pilate.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:12---- (Hebrew) בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא הִתְרַצּוּ הוֹרְדוֹס וּפִילָטוֹס אִישׁ אֶל־אָחִיו כִּי עַד־כֹּה הָיְתָה מַשְׂטֵמָה בֵּינֵיהֶם׃ יב Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:12 Now Herod and Pilate became friends with one another that very day; for before they had been enemies with each other.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:13---- (Hebrew) וַיִּקְרָא פִילָטוֹס אֶל־רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַשָּׂרִים וְהָעָם׃ יג Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:13 Pilate summoned the chief priests and the rulers and the people,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:14---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם הֲבֵאתֶם אֵלַי אֶת־הָאִישׁ הַזֶּה כִּמְסַלֵּף אֶת־הָעָם וְהִנֵּה חֲקַרְתִּיו לְעֵינֵיכֶם וְלֹא־מָצָאתִי בָאִישׁ הַזֶּה שֶׁמֶץ דָּבָר מִכֹּל אֲשֶׁר תַּרְשִׁיעוּ אֹתוֹ׃ יד Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:14 and said to them, "You brought this man to me as one who incites the people to rebellion, and behold, having examined Him before you, I have found no guilt in this man regarding the charges which you make against Him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:15---- (Hebrew) וְאַף לֹא הוֹרְדוֹס כִּי הוּא הֱשִׁיבוֹ אֵלֵינוּ מִבְּלִי מְצֹא בוֹ חֵטְא מִשְׁפַּט־מָוֶת׃ טו Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:15 No, nor has Herod, for he sent Him back to us; and behold, nothing deserving death has been done by Him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:16---- (Hebrew) עַל־כֵּן יַסֹּר אֲיַסְּרֶנּוּ וְאַחֲרֵי כֵן אֲשַׁלַּח אֹתוֹ׃ טז Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:16 Therefore I will punish Him and release Him."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:17---- (Hebrew) וְעָלָיו לְשַׁלַּח לָהֶם אֶחָד מֵהָאֲסִירִים חָפְשִׁי בִּימֵי הֶחָג׃ יז Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:17 [ Now he was obliged to release to them at the feast one prisoner. ](NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:18---- (Hebrew) אַךְ הֵם קָרְאוּ יַחְדָּו לֵאמֹר אֱסֹף אֶת־הָאִישׁ הַזֶּה וְשַׁלַּח לָנוּ אֶת־בַּר־אַבָּא׃ יח Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:18 But they cried out all together, saying, "Away with this man, and release for us Barabbas!"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:19---- (Hebrew) הוּא אֲשֶׁר עָצוּר הָיָה בַּכֶּלֶא בַּעֲבוּר מֶרֶד אֲשֶׁר־נִמְצָא בָּעִיר וָרֶצַח׃ יט Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:19 (He was one who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection made in the city, and for murder. )(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:20---- (Hebrew) וַיּוֹסֶף פִּילָטוֹס וַיְדַבֵּר אֲלֵיהֶם כִּי־חָפֵץ לְשַׁלַּח אֶת־יֵשׁוּעַ׃ כ Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:20 Pilate, wanting to release Jesus, addressed them again,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:21---- (Hebrew) וְהֵם צָעֲקוּ לֵאמֹר הַצְלֵב הַצְלֵב אֹתוֹ׃ כא Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:21 but they kept on calling out, saying, "Crucify, crucify Him!"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:22---- (Hebrew) וַיְדַבֵּר אֲלֵיהֶם שְׁלִישִׁית וְלָמָּה מֶה רָעָה עָשָׂה זֶה לֹא־מָצָאתִי לוֹ מִשְׁפַּט־מָוֶת עַל־כֵּן אֲיַסְּרֶנּוּ וַאֲשַׁלְּחֶנּוּ׃ כב Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:22 And he said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has this man done? I have found in Him no guilt demanding death; therefore I will punish Him and release Him."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:23---- (Hebrew) אַךְ הֵם הֵרִימוּ קוֹלָם וַיִּשְׁאָלוּ וַיִּפְצְרוּ־בוֹ כִּי יִצָּלֵב וַיַּכְרַע קוֹלָם וְקוֹל רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים׃ כג Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:23 But they were insistent, with loud voices asking that He be crucified. And their voices began to prevail.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:24---- (Hebrew) וּפִילָטוֹס הוֹצִיא מִשְׁפָּט כִּי תֵעָשֶׂה שֶׁאֱלָתָם׃ כד Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:24 And Pilate pronounced sentence that their demand be granted.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:25---- (Hebrew) וַיְשַׁלַּח לָהֶם אֶת־הֶעָצוּר בַּכֶּלֶא בַּעֲבוּר מֶרֶד וָרֶצַח אֶת־הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר שָׁאָלוּ וְאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַ נָתַן לִרְצוֹנָם׃ כה Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:25 And he released the man they were asking for who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, but he delivered Jesus to their will.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:26---- (Hebrew) וַיּוֹלִיכֻהוּ מִשָּׁם וַיַּחֲזִיקוּ בְאִישׁ אֶחָד אֲשֶׁר בָּא מִן־הַשָּׂדֶה וּשְׁמוֹ שִׁמְעוֹן אִישׁ־קוּרִינִי וַיָּשִׂימוּ עָלָיו אֶת־הַצְּלָב לָשֵׂאת אֹתוֹ אַחֲרֵי יֵשׁוּעַ׃ כו Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:26 When they led Him away, they seized a man, Simon of Cyrene, coming in from the country, and placed on him the cross to carry behind Jesus.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:27---- (Hebrew) וַהֲמוֹן עַם־רָב הָלְכוּ אַחֲרָיו וַהֲמוֹן נָשִׁים נֹשְׂאוֹת עָלָיו מִסְפֵּד וְקִינָה׃ כז Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:27 And following Him was a large crowd of the people, and of women who were mourning and lamenting Him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:28---- (Hebrew) וַיִּפֶן יֵשׁוּעַ אֲלֵיהֶן וַיֹּאמַר בְּנוֹת יְרוּשָׁלַיִם אַל־תִּבְכֶּינָה לִּי כִּי אִם־בְּכֶינָה לָכֶן וְלִבְנֵיכֶן׃ כח Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:28 But Jesus turning to them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, stop weeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:29---- (Hebrew) כִּי הִנֵּה יָמִים בָּאִים וְיֹאמְרוּ אַשְׁרֵי הָעֲקָרוֹת וְהַבֶּטֶן אֲשֶׁר לֹא יָלָדָה וְהַשָּׁדַיִם אֲשֶׁר לֹא הֵינִיקוּ׃ כט Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:29 For behold, the days are coming when they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.'(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:30---- (Hebrew) אָז יָחֵלּוּ לֵאמֹר לֶהָרִים נִפְלוּ עָלֵינוּ וְלַגְּבָעוֹת כַּסּוּנוּ׃ ל Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:30 Then they will begin TO SAY TO THE MOUNTAINS, 'FALL ON US,' AND TO THE HILLS, 'COVER US.'(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:31---- (Hebrew) כִּי אִם־כָּכָה יַעֲשׂוּ בְּעֵץ לָח מַה־יֵּעָשֶׂה בְּעֵץ יָבֵשׁ׃ לא Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:31 For if they do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:32---- (Hebrew) וְגַם־שְׁנַיִם אֲחֵרִים פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן הוּבָלוּ אִתּוֹ לַמָּוֶת׃ לב Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:32 Two others also, who were criminals, were being led away to be put to death with Him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:33---- (Hebrew) וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל־הַמָּקוֹם הַנִּקְרָא גֻּלְגָּלְתָּא וַיִּצְלְבוּ אֹתוֹ שָׁם וְאֶת־פֹּעֲלֵי הָאָוֶן אֶחָד לִימִינוֹ וְאֶחָד לִשְׂמֹאלוֹ׃ לג Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:33 When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:34---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמֶר יֵשׁוּעַ אָבִי סְלַח לָהֶם כִּי אֵינָם יֹדְעִים מָה הֵמָּה עֹשִׂים וַיְחַלְּקוּ לָהֶם אֶת־בְּגָדָיו וַיַּפִּילוּ עֲלֵיהֶם גּוֹרָל׃ לד Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:34 But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:35---- (Hebrew) וְהָעָם עָמְדוּ הִבִּיטוּ בוֹ וְגַם־הַשָּׂרִים לָעֲגוּ־לוֹ לֵאמֹר אֶת־אֲחֵרִים הוֹשִׁיעַ יוֹשַׁע־נָא אֶת־נַפְשׁוֹ אִם־הוּא הַמָּשִׁיחַ בְּחִיר הָאֱלֹהִים׃ לה Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:35 And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:36---- (Hebrew) וְכֵן גַּם־אַנְשֵׁי הַצָּבָא שָׂחֲקוּ עָלָיו וַיָּבֹאוּ וַיַּגִּישׁוּ לוֹ חֹמֶץ׃ לו Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:36 The soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:37---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמְרוּ אִם־אַתָּה הוּא מֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים הוֹשַׁע אֶת־נַפְשֶׁךָ׃ לז Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:37 and saying, "If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:38---- (Hebrew) וַיָּשִׂימוּ כְתֹבֶת מִמַּעַל לוֹ בִּכְתָב יְוָנִי וְרוֹמִי וְעִבְרִי זֶה הוּא מֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים׃ לח Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:38 Now there was also an inscription above Him, "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:39---- (Hebrew) וְאֶחָד מִפֹּעֲלֵי הָאָוֶן הַנִּתְלִים אֶצְלוֹ חֵרֵף אֹתוֹ לֵאמֹר הֲלֹא אַתָּה הַמָּשִׁיחַ הוֹשַׁע אֶת־נַפְשְׁךָ וְאֶת־נַפְשֵׁנוּ׃ לט Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:40---- (Hebrew) וַיַּעַן הָאַחֵר וַיִּגְעַר־בּוֹ לֵאמֹר הַאִם לֹא תִירָא אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים אַחֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר־הָעֹנֶשׁ הַזֶּה הוּשַׁת גַּם־עָלֶיךָ׃ מ Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:41---- (Hebrew) אָכֵן עָלֵינוּ הוּשַׁת כַּמִּשְׁפָּט כִּי כְּמַעֲשֵׂה יָדֵינוּ הוּשַׁב לָנוּ אַךְ זֶה לֹא־עָשָׂה דָבָר רָע׃ מא Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:41 And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:42---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמַר אֶל־יֵשׁוּעַ זָכְרֵנִי־נָא אֲדֹנִי כַּאֲשֶׁר תָּבֹא בְּמַלְכוּתֶךָ׃ מב Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:42 And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:43---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמֶר יֵשׁוּעַ אֵלָיו אָמֵן אֲנִי אֹמֵר לְךָ הַיּוֹם תִּהְיֶה עִמִּי בְּגַן־עֵדֶן׃ מג Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:43 And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:44---- (Hebrew) וַיְהִי כְּשָׁעָה הַשִּׁשִּׁית וְחֹשֶׁךְ כִּסָּה אֶת־פְּנֵי כָל־הָאָרֶץ עַד הַשָּׁעָה הַתְּשִׁיעִית׃ מד Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:44 It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:45---- (Hebrew) הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ חָשָׁכָה וּפָרֹכֶת הַהֵיכַל נִקְרְעָה לִשְׁנַיִם קְרָעִים׃ מה Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:45 because the sun was obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Luke 23:46---- (Hebrew) וַיִּקְרָא יֵשׁוּעַ בְּקוֹל גָּדוֹל וַיֹּאמַר בְּיָדְךָ אָבִי אַפְקִיד רוּחִי וּכְקָרְאוֹ כָזֹאת הוֹצִיא אֶת־נִשְׁמָתוֹ׃ מו Luke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luk 23:46 And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT."
