(Hebrew) יַעֲקֹב עֶבֶד לֵאלֹהִים וּלְאָדוֹן יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֶל־הָעֵדָה הַפְּזוּרָה מִשְּׁנֵים עָשָׂר הַשְּׁבָטִים שָׁלוֹם׃ א James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:1 James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:2---- (Hebrew) חִשְׁבוּ לָכֶם אַחַי אַךְ לְשִׂמְחָה אִם מַסּוֹת שֹׁנוֹת תִּקְרֶינָה אֶתְכֶם׃ ב James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:3---- (Hebrew) בְּדַעְתְּכֶם כִּי כוּר בֹּחֵן אֱמוּנַתְכֶם יִתֵּן לָכֶם אֶת־כֹּחַ הַסַּבָּל׃ ג James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:4---- (Hebrew) וּפְעֻלַּת כֹּחַ הַסַּבָּל תִּהְיֶה שְׁלֵמָה לְבַעֲבוּר תִּהְיוּ שְׁלֵמִים וּתְמִימִים וְלֹא יֶחְסַר לָכֶם דָּבָר׃ ד James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:5---- (Hebrew) וְאִישׁ מִכֶּם כִּי יֶחְסַר חָכְמָה יְבַקְשֶׁנָּה וְתִנָּתֶן־לוֹ מֵאֵת הָאֱלֹהִים הַנֹּתֵן לַכֹּל בְּרוּחַ נְדִיבָה וְאֵין־מַכְלִים דָּבָר׃ ה James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:6---- (Hebrew) אַךְ יְבַקֵּשׁ בֶּאֱמוּנָה וְלֹא יִפְסַח עַל־שְׁתֵּי סְעִפִּים כִּי הַפֹּסֵחַ עַל־שְׁתֵּי סְעִפִּים דּוֹמֶה הוּא לְגַלֵּי הַיָּם אֲשֶׁר הֵם עֹלִים וְיֹרְדִים מִפְּנֵי־רוּחַ׃ ו James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:7---- (Hebrew) וְהָאִישׁ הַהוּא אַל־יְדַמֶּה בְנַפְשׁוֹ כִּי־יִשָּׂא דָבָר מֵאֵת יְהוָֹה׃ ז James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:8---- (Hebrew) אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר חָלַק לִבּוֹ פֹּחֵז הוּא בְּכָל־נְתִיבֹתָיו׃ ח James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:9---- (Hebrew) אוּלָם אָח שָׁפֵל יִתְהַלֵּל בְּרוֹמְמוֹת נַפְשׁוֹ׃ ט James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:9 But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:10---- (Hebrew) וְעָשִׁיר בְּשִׁפְלוּת נַפְשׁוֹ כִּי כְצִיץ חָצִיר כֵּן יַעֲבֹר׃ י James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:10 and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:11---- (Hebrew) כִּי כְצֵאת הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ בִּגְבֻרָתוֹ יִיבַשׁ חָצִיר אֻמְלַל צִיץ וּצְבִי תִפְאַרְתּוֹ נֹבֵל כֵּן יִבֹּל הֶעָשִׁיר עֲלֵי־שְׁבִיל מְרוּצָתוֹ׃ יא James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:11 For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:12---- (Hebrew) אַשְׁרֵי הָאִישׁ הַנִּבְחַן בְּמַסָּה כִּי בְהִבָּחֲנוֹ יִשָּׂא עֲטֶרֶת הַחַיִּים אֲשֶׁר־דִבֶּר אֲדֹנָי לְאֹהֲבָיו׃ יב James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:13---- (Hebrew) אַל־יֹאמַר הַנִּכְשָׁל בְּמַסָּה הָאֱלֹהִים נִסָּה אֹתִי כִּי כַאֲשֶׁר אֵין מְנַסֶּה אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים בְּרָע כֵּן גַּם־הוּא לֹא־יְנַסֶּה אִישׁ׃ יג James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:14---- (Hebrew) אַךְ כָּל־אִישׁ תַּאֲוַת נַפְשׁוֹ תְּנַסֵּהוּ כִּי יִמָּשֵׁךְ וְיִלָּכֶד־בָּהּ׃ יד James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:15---- (Hebrew) וְהַתַּאֲוָה אַחֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר הָרְתָה תֵּלֵד חֵטְא וְהַחֵטְא כַּאֲשֶׁר הוּא שָׁלֵם יוֹלִיד מָוֶת׃ טו James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:16---- (Hebrew) אַל־תַּתְעוּ אֶת־נַפְשְׁכֶם אַחַי הַיְקָרִים׃ טז James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:17---- (Hebrew) כָּל־מַתָּנָה טוֹבָה וְכָל־תְּשׁוּרָה שְׁלֵמָה יֹרֶדֶת מֵעָל מֵאֵת אֲבִי הַמְּאֹרֹת אֲשֶׁר אֵין־חֲלִיפוֹת לוֹ אַף לֹא צֵל תְּמוּרָה׃ יז James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:18---- (Hebrew) וְהוּא בְּאַוַּת נַפְשׁוֹ הוֹלִיד אֹתָנוּ בִּדְבַר אֲמִתּוֹ לִהְיוֹת לוֹ כְּרֵאשִׁית תְּבוּאָתוֹ בְּתוֹךְ יְצוּרָיו׃ יח James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:18 In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:19---- (Hebrew) לָכֶן אַחַי הַיְקָרִים יְהִי כָל־אִישׁ מִכֶּם מָהִיר לִשְׁמֹעַ בּשֵׁשׁ לְדַבֵּר וּבשֵׁשׁ לִקְצָף־קָצֶף׃ יט James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:20---- (Hebrew) כִּי־קֶצֶף אָדָם לֹא יִפְעַל צִדְקַת אֱלֹהִים׃ כ James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:21---- (Hebrew) עַל־כֵּן הָסִירוּ מֵעֲלֵיכֶם כָּל־גִּלּוּלִים וְכֹבֶד רִשְׁעָה וּבַעֲנָוָה הַחֲזִיקוּ בַתּוֹרָה הַנְּטוּעָה בְתוֹכֲכֶם אֲשֶׁר יֶשׁ־בָּהּ לְהוֹשִׁיעַ לְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם׃ כא James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:22---- (Hebrew) וּרְאוּ לִהְיוֹת עֹשִׂים דְּבַר הַמִּצְוָה וְלֹא רַק שֹׁמְעִים לְאֹזֶן לְהַתְעוֹת אֶת־נַפְשְׁכֶם׃ כב James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:23---- (Hebrew) כִּי הַשֹּׁמֵעַ דָּבָר וְלֹא יַעֲשֶׂנּוּ נִמְשַׁל הוּא לְאִישׁ הַמַּבִּיט תֹּאַר פָּנָיו בִּרְאִי מְלֻטָּשׁ׃ כג James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:24---- (Hebrew) כִּי הוּא מַבִּיט בְּפָנָיו וּכְרֶגַע הוֹלֵךְ וְשֹׁכֵחַ מַה־תַּאֳרוֹ׃ כד James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:25---- (Hebrew) אַךְ הַשָּׂם עֵינוֹ בַתּוֹרָה הַתְּמִימָה אֲשֶׁר חֹפֶשׁ בָּהּ וְהֹגֶה בָהּ תָּמִיד וְאֶינֵנּוּ שֹׁמֵעַ וְשֹׁכֵחַ כִּי אִם־עֹשֶׂה הַדָּבָר לְמַעֲנֵהוּ הָאִישׁ הַהוּא יְאֻשַּׁר בְּמַעֲשֵׂהוּ׃ כה James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:26---- (Hebrew) וְאִם־יְדַמֶּה אִישׁ מִכֵּם לִהְיוֹת עֹבֵד אֱלֹהִים וְלֹא יִשְׁמֹר רֶסֶן לְשׁוֹנוֹ כִּי אִם־יַתְעֶה אֶת־לְבָבוֹ עֲבֹדָתוֹ הֶבֶל הִיא׃ כו James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 1:27---- (Hebrew) זֹאת הִיא עֲבֹדָה טְהוֹרָה וּתְמִימָה לִפְנֵי אֱלֹהֵינוּ אָבִינוּ לְבַקֵּר יְתוֹמִים וְאַלְמָנוֹת בִּמְצוּקוֹתֵיהֶם וּלְהִשְׁתַּמֵר מִן־שֶׁמֶץ דָּבָר מִן־עֶרְוַת הָאָרֶץ׃ כז James -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jas 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- James 2:1 ---- written 45-50 A.D.---- |
