================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:1 ---- written 1450-1410 B.C.---- Num 35:1 καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἐπὶ δυσμῶν Μωαβ παρὰ τὸν Ιορδάνην κατὰ Ιεριχω λέγων (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:1 Now the Lord spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho, saying,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:2---- Num 35:2 σύνταξον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ καὶ δώσουσιν τοῖς Λευίταις ἀπὸ τῶν κλήρων κατασχέσεως αὐτῶν πόλεις κατοικεῖν καὶ τὰ προάστεια τῶν πόλεων κύκλῳ αὐτῶν δώσουσιν τοῖς Λευίταις (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:2 "Command the sons of Israel that they give to the Levites from the inheritance of their possession cities to live in; and you shall give to the Levites pasture lands around the cities.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:3---- Num 35:3 καὶ ἔσονται αὐτοῖς αἱ πόλεις κατοικεῖν καὶ τὰ ἀφορίσματα αὐτῶν ἔσται τοῖς κτήνεσιν αὐτῶν καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς τετράποσιν αὐτῶν (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:3 The cities shall be theirs to live in; and their pasture lands shall be for their cattle and for their herds and for all their beasts.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:4---- Num 35:4 καὶ τὰ συγκυροῦντα τῶν πόλεων ἃς δώσετε τοῖς Λευίταις ἀπὸ τείχους τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἔξω δισχιλίους πήχεις κύκλῳ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:4 "The pasture lands of the cities which you shall give to the Levites shall extend from the wall of the city outward a thousand cubits around.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:5---- Num 35:5 καὶ μετρήσεις ἔξω τῆς πόλεως τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς δισχιλίους πήχεις καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς λίβα δισχιλίους πήχεις καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς θάλασσαν δισχιλίους πήχεις καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς βορρᾶν δισχιλίους πήχεις καὶ ἡ πόλις μέσον τούτου ἔσται ὑμῖν καὶ τὰ ὅμορα τῶν πόλεων (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:5 You shall also measure outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits, with the city in the center. This shall become theirs as pasture lands for the cities.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:6---- Num 35:6 καὶ τὰς πόλεις δώσετε τοῖς Λευίταις τὰς ἓξ πόλεις τῶν φυγαδευτηρίων ἃς δώσετε φεύγειν ἐκεῖ τῷ φονεύσαντι καὶ πρὸς ταύταις τεσσαράκοντα καὶ δύο πόλεις (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:6 The cities which you shall give to the Levites shall be the six cities of refuge, which you shall give for the manslayer to flee to; that anyone who kills a person unintentionally may flee there.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:16---- Num 35:16 ἐὰν δὲ ἐν σκεύει σιδήρου πατάξῃ αὐτόν καὶ τελευτήσῃ φονευτής ἐστιν θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:16 'But if he struck him down with an iron object, so that he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:17---- Num 35:17 ἐὰν δὲ ἐν λίθῳ ἐκ χειρός ἐν ᾧ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐτῷ πατάξῃ αὐτόν καὶ ἀποθάνῃ φονευτής ἐστιν θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:17 If he struck him down with a stone in the hand, by which he will die, and as a result he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:18---- Num 35:18 ἐὰν δὲ ἐν σκεύει ξυλίνῳ ἐκ χειρός ἐξ οὗ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐτῷ πατάξῃ αὐτόν καὶ ἀποθάνῃ φονευτής ἐστιν θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:18 Or if he struck him with a wooden object in the hand, by which he might die, and as a result he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:19---- Num 35:19 ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα οὗτος ἀποκτενεῖ τὸν φονεύσαντα ὅταν συναντήσῃ αὐτῷ οὗτος ἀποκτενεῖ αὐτόν (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:19 The blood avenger himself shall put the murderer to death; he shall put him to death when he meets him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:20---- Num 35:20 ἐὰν δὲ δι᾽ ἔχθραν ὤσῃ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπιρρίψῃ ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν πᾶν σκεῦος ἐξ ἐνέδρου καὶ ἀποθάνῃ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:20 If he pushed him of hatred, or threw something at him lying in wait and as a result he died,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:21---- Num 35:21 ἢ διὰ μῆνιν ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν τῇ χειρί καὶ ἀποθάνῃ θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ πατάξας φονευτής ἐστιν θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονεύων ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα ἀποκτενεῖ τὸν φονεύσαντα ἐν τῷ συναντῆσαι αὐτῷ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:21 or if he struck him down with his hand in enmity, and as a result he died, the one who struck him shall surely be put to death, he is a murderer; the blood avenger shall put the murderer to death when he meets him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:22---- Num 35:22 ἐὰν δὲ ἐξάπινα οὐ δι᾽ ἔχθραν ὤσῃ αὐτὸν ἢ ἐπιρρίψῃ ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν πᾶν σκεῦος οὐκ ἐξ ἐνέδρου (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:22 'But if he pushed him suddenly without enmity, or threw something at him without lying in wait,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:23---- Num 35:23 ἢ παντὶ λίθῳ ἐν ᾧ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐτῷ οὐκ εἰδώς καὶ ἐπιπέσῃ ἐπ᾽ αὐτόν καὶ ἀποθάνῃ αὐτὸς δὲ οὐκ ἐχθρὸς αὐτοῦ ἦν οὐδὲ ζητῶν κακοποιῆσαι αὐτόν (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:23 or with any deadly object of stone, and without seeing it dropped on him so that he died, while he was not his enemy nor seeking his injury,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:24---- Num 35:24 καὶ κρινεῖ ἡ συναγωγὴ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ πατάξαντος καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ἀγχιστεύοντος τὸ αἷμα κατὰ τὰ κρίματα ταῦτα (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:24 then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the blood avenger according to these ordinances.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:25---- Num 35:25 καὶ ἐξελεῖται ἡ συναγωγὴ τὸν φονεύσαντα ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀγχιστεύοντος τὸ αἷμα καὶ ἀποκαταστήσουσιν αὐτὸν ἡ συναγωγὴ εἰς τὴν πόλιν τοῦ φυγαδευτηρίου αὐτοῦ οὗ κατέφυγεν καὶ κατοικήσει ἐκεῖ ἕως ἂν ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας ὃν ἔχρισαν αὐτὸν τῷ ἐλαίῳ τῷ ἁγίῳ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:25 The congregation shall deliver the manslayer from the hand of the blood avenger, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge to which he fled; and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:26---- Num 35:26 ἐὰν δὲ ἐξόδῳ ἐξέλθῃ ὁ φονεύσας τὰ ὅρια τῆς πόλεως εἰς ἣν κατέφυγεν ἐκεῖ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:26 But if the manslayer at any time goes beyond the border of his city of refuge to which he may flee,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:27---- Num 35:27 καὶ εὕρῃ αὐτὸν ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα ἔξω τῶν ὁρίων τῆς πόλεως καταφυγῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ φονεύσῃ ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα τὸν φονεύσαντα οὐκ ἔνοχός ἐστιν (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:27 and the blood avenger finds him outside the border of his city of refuge, and the blood avenger kills the manslayer, he will not be guilty of blood(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Numbers 35:28---- Num 35:28 ἐν γὰρ τῇ πόλει τῆς καταφυγῆς κατοικείτω ἕως ἂν ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας καὶ μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν τὸν ἱερέα τὸν μέγαν ἐπαναστραφήσεται ὁ φονεύσας εἰς τὴν γῆν τῆς κατασχέσεως αὐτοῦ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Num 35:28 because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest.
