Pre-Exilic---- Jer 20:1 καὶ ἤκουσεν Πασχωρ υἱὸς Εμμηρ ὁ ἱερεύς καὶ οὗτος ἦν καθεσταμένος ἡγούμενος οἴκου κυρίου τοῦ Ιερεμιου προφητεύοντος τοὺς λόγους τούτους (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:1 When Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer, who was chief officer in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Jeremiah 20:2---- Jer 20:2 καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐνέβαλεν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν καταρράκτην ὃς ἦν ἐν πύλῃ οἴκου ἀποτεταγμένου τοῦ ὑπερῴου ὃς ἦν ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:2 Pashhur had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put him in the stocks that were at the upper Benjamin Gate, which was by the house of the Lord.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Jeremiah 20:3---- Jer 20:3 καὶ ἐξήγαγεν Πασχωρ τὸν Ιερεμιαν ἐκ τοῦ καταρράκτου καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ιερεμιας οὐχὶ Πασχωρ ἐκάλεσεν κύριος τὸ ὄνομά σου ἀλλ᾽ ἢ μέτοικον (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:3 On the next day, when Pashhur released Jeremiah from the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, "Pashhur is not the name the Lord has called you, but rather Magor-missabib.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Jeremiah 20:4---- Jer 20:4 διότι τάδε λέγει κύριος ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ δίδωμί σε εἰς μετοικίαν σὺν πᾶσι τοῖς φίλοις σου καὶ πεσοῦνται ἐν μαχαίρᾳ ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου ὄψονται καὶ σὲ καὶ πάντα Ιουδαν δώσω εἰς χεῖρας βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος καὶ μετοικιοῦσιν αὐτοὺς καὶ κατακόψουσιν αὐτοὺς ἐν μαχαίραις (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:4 For thus says the Lord, 'Behold, I am going to make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; and while your eyes look on, they will fall by the sword of their enemies. So I will give over all Judah to the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them away as exiles to Babylon and will slay them with the sword.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Jeremiah 20:5---- Jer 20:5 καὶ δώσω τὴν πᾶσαν ἰσχὺν τῆς πόλεως ταύτης καὶ πάντας τοὺς πόνους αὐτῆς καὶ πάντας τοὺς θησαυροὺς τοῦ βασιλέως Ιουδα εἰς χεῖρας ἐχθρῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἄξουσιν αὐτοὺς εἰς Βαβυλῶνα (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:5 I will also give over all the wealth of this city, all its produce and all its costly things; even all the treasures of the kings of Judah I will give over to the hand of their enemies, and they will plunder them, take them away and bring them to Babylon.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Jeremiah 20:6---- Jer 20:6 καὶ σὺ καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου πορεύσεσθε ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ καὶ ἐν Βαβυλῶνι ἀποθανῇ καὶ ἐκεῖ ταφήσῃ σὺ καὶ πάντες οἱ φίλοι σου οἷς ἐπροφήτευσας αὐτοῖς ψευδῆ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:6 And you, Pashhur, and all who live in your house will go into captivity; and you will enter Babylon, and there you will die and there you will be buried, you and all your friends to whom you have falsely prophesied.'"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Jeremiah 20:7---- Jer 20:7 ἠπάτησάς με κύριε καὶ ἠπατήθην ἐκράτησας καὶ ἠδυνάσθης ἐγενόμην εἰς γέλωτα πᾶσαν ἡμέραν διετέλεσα μυκτηριζόμενος (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:7 O Lord, You have deceived me and I was deceived; You have overcome me and prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day long; Everyone mocks me.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Jeremiah 20:8---- Jer 20:8 ὅτι πικρῷ λόγῳ μου γελάσομαι ἀθεσίαν καὶ ταλαιπωρίαν ἐπικαλέσομαι ὅτι ἐγενήθη λόγος κυρίου εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν ἐμοὶ καὶ εἰς χλευασμὸν πᾶσαν ἡμέραν μου (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:8 For each time I speak, I cry aloud; I proclaim violence and destruction, Because for me the word of the Lord has resulted In reproach and derision all day long.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Jeremiah 20:9---- Jer 20:9 καὶ εἶπα οὐ μὴ ὀνομάσω τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου καὶ οὐ μὴ λαλήσω ἔτι ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς πῦρ καιόμενον φλέγον ἐν τοῖς ὀστέοις μου καὶ παρεῖμαι πάντοθεν καὶ οὐ δύναμαι φέρειν (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:9 But if I say, "I will not remember Him Or speak anymore in His name, "Then in my heart it becomes like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; And I am weary of holding it in, And I cannot endure it.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Jeremiah 20:10---- Jer 20:10 ὅτι ἤκουσα ψόγον πολλῶν συναθροιζομένων κυκλόθεν ἐπισύστητε καὶ ἐπισυστῶμεν αὐτῷ πάντες ἄνδρες φίλοι αὐτοῦ τηρήσατε τὴν ἐπίνοιαν αὐτοῦ εἰ ἀπατηθήσεται καὶ δυνησόμεθα αὐτῷ καὶ λημψόμεθα τὴν ἐκδίκησιν ἡμῶν ἐξ αὐτοῦ (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:10 For I have heard the whispering of many," Terror on every side! Denounce him; yes, let us denounce him!" All my trusted friends, Watching for my fall, say:" Perhaps he will be deceived, so that we may prevail against him And take our revenge on him."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Jeremiah 20:11---- Jer 20:11 καὶ κύριος μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ καθὼς μαχητὴς ἰσχύων διὰ τοῦτο ἐδίωξαν καὶ νοῆσαι οὐκ ἠδύναντο ᾐσχύνθησαν σφόδρα ὅτι οὐκ ἐνόησαν ἀτιμίας αὐτῶν αἳ δι᾽ αἰῶνος οὐκ ἐπιλησθήσονται (LXX 282-105BC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jer 20:11 But the Lord is with me like a dread champion; Therefore my persecutors will stumble and not prevail.
