(Hebrew) וַיְהִי כַּעֲלוֹת הַשַּׁחַר וְרָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים נוֹסְדוּ־יַחַד עִם־הַזְּקֵנִים וְהַסּוֹפְרִים וְכָל־הַסַּנְהֶדְרִין וַיַּאַסְרוּ אֶת־יֵשׁוּעַ וַיּוֹלִיכֻהוּ וַיַּסְגִּירֻהוּ בִּידֵי פִילָטוֹס׃ א Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:1 Early in the morning the chief priests with the elders and scribes and the whole Council, immediately held a consultation; and binding Jesus, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pilate.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:2---- (Hebrew) וַיִּשְׁאַל אֹתוֹ פִּילָטוֹס הַאַתָּה הוּא מֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים וַיַּעַן וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו אַתָּה אָמָרְתָּ׃ ב Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:2 Pilate questioned Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And He answered him, "It is as you say."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:3---- (Hebrew) וְרָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים הֵבִיאוּ עָלָיו שִׂטְנוֹת רַבּוֹת וְהוּא לֹא־נָתַן מַעֲנֶה אַף־לֹא דָבָר אֶחָד׃ ג Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:3 The chief priests began to accuse Him harshly.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:4---- (Hebrew) וַיּוֹסֶף פִּילָטוֹס וַיִּשְׁאָלֵהוּ לֵאמֹר הַאִם לֹא תַעֲנֶה דָבָר רְאֵה כַּמָּה שִׂטְנוֹת הֵבִיאוּ עָלֶיךָ׃ ד Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:4 Then Pilate questioned Him again, saying, "Do You not answer? See how many charges they bring against You!"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:5---- (Hebrew) וְיֵשׁוּעַ לֹא־נָתַן מַעֲנֶה אַף־לֹא דָבָר אֶחָד עַד אֲשֶׁר־הָיָה לְפֶלֶא בְּעֵינֵי פִילָטוֹס׃ ה Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:5 But Jesus made no further answer; so Pilate was amazed.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:6---- (Hebrew) וּבֶחָג הַזֶּה הַסְכֵּן הִסְכִּין לְשַׁלַּח לָהֶם אֶחָד מֵהָאֲסִירִים חָפְשִׁי אֶת־הָאֶחָד אֲשֶׁר יְבַקֵּשׁוּן׃ ו Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:6 Now at the feast he used to release for them any one prisoner whom they requested.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:7---- (Hebrew) וַיְהִי אִישׁ וּשְׁמוֹ בַּר־אַבָּא אָסוּר עִם־הַמֹּרְדִים אֲשֶׁר רָצְחוּ נֶפֶשׁ בְּיוֹם הַמֶּרֶד׃ ז Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:7 The man named Barabbas had been imprisoned with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the insurrection.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:8---- (Hebrew) וַיִּשָׂא הֶהָמוֹן אֶת־קוֹלוֹ וַיָּחֵלּוּ לִשְׁאֹל לַעֲשׂוֹת לָהֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה לָהֶם כְּפַעַם בְּפָעַם׃ ח Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:8 The crowd went up and began asking him to do as he had been accustomed to do for them.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:9---- (Hebrew) וַיַּעַן אֹתָם פִּילָטוֹס וַיֹּאמַר הֲתַחְפְּצוּ כִּי־אֲשַׁלַּח לָכֶם אֶת־מֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים׃ ט Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:9 Pilate answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:10---- (Hebrew) כִּי הִכִּיר אֲשֶׁר מִקִּנְאָתָם בּוֹ הִסְגִּירֻהוּ רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים׃ י Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:10 For he was aware that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:11---- (Hebrew) וְרָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים הֵסִיתוּ אֶת־הֶהָמוֹן כִּי יְבַקְשֻׁהוּ לְשַׁלַּח לָהֶם רַק אֵת בַּר־אַבָּא׃ יא Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to ask him to release Barabbas for them instead.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:12---- (Hebrew) וַיּוֹסֶף פִּילָטוֹס וַיַּעַן וַיֹּאמֶר אֶלֵיהֶם וּמַה אֶעֱשֶׂה לָזֶה אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם קֹרִאיִם מֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים׃ יב Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:12 Answering again, Pilate said to them, "Then what shall I do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:13---- (Hebrew) וַיּוֹסִיפוּ לִצְעֹק לֵאמֹר הַצְלֵב אֹתוֹ׃ יג Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:13 They shouted back, "Crucify Him!"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:14---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם פִּילָטוֹס וְלָמָּה מֶה רָעָה עָשָׂה וְהֵם הוֹסִיפוּ לִצְעֹק עוֹד יֶתֶר הַרְבֵּה הַצְלֵב אֹתוֹ׃ יד Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:14 But Pilate said to them, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they shouted all the more, "Crucify Him!"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:15---- (Hebrew) וַיּוֹאֶל פִּילָטוֹס לַעֲשׂוֹת כִּרְצוֹן הֶהָמוֹן וַיְשַׁלַּח לָהֶם אֵת בַּר־אַבָּא וְאֵת יֵשׁוּעַ יִסַּר בַּשּׁוֹטִים וַיִּתְּנֵהוּ לְהִצָּלֵב׃ טו Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:15 Wishing to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:16---- (Hebrew) וַיּוֹלִיכֻהוּ אַנְשֵׁי הַצָּבָא אֶל־הֶחָצֵר הַפְּנִימִית הוּא פְּרַטוֹרִין וַיַּזְעִיקוּ עָלָיו אֶת־כָּל־הַגְּדוּד׃ טז Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:16 The soldiers took Him away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium), and they called together the whole Roman cohort.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:17---- (Hebrew) וַיַּלְבִּשֻׁהוּ מְעִיל אַרְגָּמָן וַיְשָׂרְגוּ כֶתֶר קוֹצִים וַיָּשִׂימוּ עַל־רֹאשׁוֹ׃ יז Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:17 They dressed Him up in purple, and after twisting a crown of thorns, they put it on Him;(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:18---- (Hebrew) וַיָּחֵלּוּ לְפָקְדוֹ לֵאמֹר יְחִי מֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים׃ יח Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:18 and they began to acclaim Him, "Hail, King of the Jews!"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:19---- (Hebrew) וְהִכּוּ אֹתוֹ בְקָנֶה עַל־רֹאשׁוֹ וְיָרְקוּ בְּפָנָיו וְעַל־בִּרְכֵּיהֶם כָרְעוּ וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ לוֹ׃ יט Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:19 They kept beating His head with a reed, and spitting on Him, and kneeling and bowing before Him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:20---- (Hebrew) וְאַחֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר הֵתֵלּוּ בוֹ הִפְשִׁיטוּ אֹתוֹ אֶת־מְעִיל הָאַרְגָּמָן וַיַּלְבִּישֻׁהוּ אֶת־בְּגָדָיו וַיּוֹלִיכֻהוּ לִצְלֹב אֹתוֹ׃ כ Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:20 After they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off Him and put His own garments on Him. And they led Him out to crucify Him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:21---- (Hebrew) וְאִישׁ אֶחָד עָבַר שָׁם בְּבֹאוֹ מִן־הַשָּׂדֶה הוּא שִׁמְעוֹן הַקּוּרִינִי אֲבִי אֲלֶכְסַנְדְּרוֹס וְרוּפוֹס אֹתוֹ אִלְּצוּ לַהֲלֹךְ אִתָּם וְלָשֵׂאת לוֹ אֶת־צְלָבוֹ׃ כא Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:21 They pressed into service a passer-by coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene (the father of Alexander and Rufus), to bear His cross.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:22---- (Hebrew) וַיָּבִיאוּ אֹתוֹ אֶל־גָּלְגָּלְתָּא אֲשֶׁר יֵאָמֵר מְקוֹם הַגֻּלְגֹּלֶת׃ כב Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:22 Then they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:23---- (Hebrew) וַיִּתְּנוּ־לוֹ יַיִן מָהוּל בְּמֹר וְלֹא שָׁתָה׃ כג Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:23 They tried to give Him wine mixed with myrrh; but He did not take it.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:24---- (Hebrew) וַיִּצְלְבוּ אֹתוֹ וַיְחַלְּקוּ אֶת־בְּגָדָיו לָהֶם לְפִי הַגּוֹרָל אֲשֶׁר הִפִּילוּ עֲלֵיהֶם לָקַח אִישׁ אִישׁ חֶלְקוֹ׃ כד Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:24 And they crucified Him, and divided up His garments among themselves, casting lots for them to decide what each man should take.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:25---- (Hebrew) וְהָעֵת אֲשֶׁר צָלְבוּ אֹתוֹ הָיְתָה הַשָּׁעָה הַשְּׁלִישִׁית׃ כה Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:25 It was the third hour when they crucified Him.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:26---- (Hebrew) וּכְתֹבֶת דְּבַר־אַשְׁמָתוֹ שָׂמוּ מִלְמַעְלָה עַל־הָעֵץ לֵאמֹר מֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים׃ כו Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:26 The inscription of the charge against Him read, "THE KING OF THE JEWS."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:27---- (Hebrew) וְגַם־שְׁנֵי אַנְשֵׁי חָמָס נִצְלְבוּ עִמּוֹ אֶחָד מִימִינוֹ וְאֶחָד מִשְּׂמֹאלוֹ׃ כז Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:27 They crucified two robbers with Him, one on His right and one on His left.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:28---- (Hebrew) וַיִּמָּלֵא הַכָּתוּב הָאֹמֵר וְאֶת־פּשְׁעִים נִמְנָה׃ כח Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:28 which says, "AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH TRANSGRESSORS."](NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:29---- (Hebrew) וְהָעֹבְרִים שָׁם גִּדְּפוּ אֹתוֹ וַיָּנִיעוּ אַחֲרָיו אֶת־רֹאשָׁם לֵאמֹר הוֹי אַתָּה הַמַּחֲרִיב אֶת־הַהֵיכָל וְהַבּוֹנֶה אֹתוֹ בִּשְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים׃ כט Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:29 Those passing by were hurling abuse at Him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:30---- (Hebrew) הוֹשִׁיעָה לְנַפְשֶׁךָ וּרְדָה מִן־הָעֵץ׃ ל Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:30 save Yourself, and come down from the cross!"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:31---- (Hebrew) וְכֵן גַּם־רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַסּוֹפְרִים שָׂחֲקוּ אִישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵהוּ לֵאמֹר הוּא הַמּוֹשִׁיעַ לַאֲחֵרִים וּלְנַפְשׁוֹ לֹא יוּכַל לְהוֹשִׁיעַ׃ לא Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:31 In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying, "He saved others; He cannot save Himself.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:32---- (Hebrew) הַמָּשִׁיחַ מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל הוּא יֵרֶד עַתָּה מִן־הָעֵץ וְנִרְאֶה וְנַאֲמִין בּוֹ וְגַם־הַנִּצְלָבִים עִמּוֹ כְּמוֹ־כֵן חֵרְפֻהוּ׃ לב Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:32 Let this Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, so that we may see and believe!" and there were many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:42---- (Hebrew) וַיְהִי בָּעֶרֶב בְּיוֹם הַהֲכָנָה הַהוּא כִּי עֶרֶב שַׁבָּת הָיָה׃ מב Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:42 When evening had already come, because it was the preparation day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:43---- (Hebrew) וַיָּבֹא יוֹסֵף מִן־הָרָמָתַיִם הוּא יוֹעֵץ נִכְכָּד וְגַם־הוּא חִכָּה לְמַלְכוּת הָאֱלֹהִים וַיָּבֹא אֶל־פִּילָטוֹס בְּאֹמֶץ־לֵב וַיִּשְׁאַל מִמֶּנּוּ אֶת־גּוּף יֵשׁוּעַ׃ מג Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:43 Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the Council, who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God; and he gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:44---- (Hebrew) וַיִּשְׁתָּאֶה פִּילָטוֹס לֵאמֹר הַאִם הוּא כְּבָר מֵת וַיִּקְרָא אֶל שַׂר הַמֵּאָה וַיִּשְׁאָלֵהוּ אִם כְּבַר מֵת׃ מד Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:44 Pilate wondered if He was dead by this time, and summoning the centurion, he questioned him as to whether He was already dead.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:45---- (Hebrew) וְכַאֲשֶׁר שָׁמַע מִן־שַׂר הַמֵּאָה כִּי־כֵן הוּא וַיִּתֵּן אֶת־הַגּוּף אֶל־יוֹסֵף׃ מה Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:45 And ascertaining this from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 15:46---- (Hebrew) וְהוּא לָקַח תַכְרִיךְ־בּוּץ וַיֹּרִידֵהוּ מִן־הָעֵץ וַיַּעֲטֵהוּ בַּתַּכְרִיךְ וַיְשִׂימֵהוּ בַּקֶּבֶר אֲשֶׁר חָצַב־לוֹ בַּצּוּר וַיָּגֶל אֶבֶן עַל־פִּי הַקָּבֶר׃ מו Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 15:46 Joseph bought a linen cloth, took Him down, wrapped Him in the linen cloth and laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out in the rock;
