But, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? Why does my lord seek this thing? Why should he be a cause of guilt to Israel?"(nasb) 1Ch 21:3 καὶ εἶπεν Ιωαβ προσθείη κύριος ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ὡς αὐτοὶ ἑκατονταπλασίως καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως βλέποντες πάντες τῷ κυρίῳ μου παῖδες ἵνα τί ζητεῖ ὁ κύριός μου τοῦτο ἵνα μὴ γένηται εἰς ἁμαρτίαν τῷ Ισραηλ (lxx) 1Ch 21:3 Responditque Joab: Augeat Dominus populum suum centuplum quam sunt: nonne, domine mi rex, omnes servi tui sunt? quare hoc quærit dominus meus, quod in peccatum reputetur Israëli?(vulgate) 1Ch 21:3 Joab sprach: Der HERR tue zu seinem Volk, wie sie jetzt sind, hundertmal soviel; aber, mein Herr König, sind sie nicht alle meines Herrn Knechte? Now, therefore, consider what answer I shall return to Him who sent me."(nasb) 1Ch 21:12 ἢ τρία ἔτη λιμοῦ ἢ τρεῖς μῆνας φεύγειν σε ἐκ προσώπου ἐχθρῶν σου καὶ μάχαιραν ἐχθρῶν σου τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι ἢ τρεῖς ἡμέρας ῥομφαίαν κυρίου καὶ θάνατον ἐν τῇ γῇ καὶ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἐξολεθρεύων ἐν πάσῃ κληρονομίᾳ Ισραηλ καὶ νῦν ἰδὲ τί ἀποκριθῶ τῷ ἀποστείλαντί με λόγον (lxx) 1Ch 21:12 aut tribus annis famem; aut tribus mensibus te fugere hostes tuos, et gladium eorum non posse evadere; aut tribus diebus gladium Domini, et pestilentiam versari in terra, et angelum Domini interficere in universis finibus Israël: nunc igitur vide quid respondeam ei qui misit me.(vulgate) 1Ch 21:12 entweder drei Jahre Teuerung, oder drei Monate Flucht vor deinen Widersachern und vor dem Schwert deiner Feinde, daß dich's ergreife, oder drei Tage das Schwert des HERRN und Pestilenz im Lande, daß der Engel des HERRN verderbe in allen Grenzen Israels. But do not let me fall into the hand of man."(nasb) 1Ch 21:13 καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Γαδ στενά μοι καὶ τὰ τρία σφόδρα ἐμπεσοῦμαι δὴ εἰς χεῖρας κυρίου ὅτι πολλοὶ οἱ οἰκτιρμοὶ αὐτοῦ σφόδρα καὶ εἰς χεῖρας ἀνθρώπων οὐ μὴ ἐμπέσω (lxx) 1Ch 21:13 Et dixit David ad Gad: Ex omni parte me angustiæ premunt: sed melius mihi est ut incidam in manus Domini, quia multæ sunt miserationes ejus, quam in manus hominum.~(vulgate) 1Ch 21:13 David sprach zu Gad: Mir ist sehr angst; doch ich will in die Hand des HERRN fallen, denn seine Barmherzigkeit ist sehr groß, und will nicht in Menschenhände fallen.(dhs) 1Ch 21:13 And David said to Gad, "I am in great distress. Please let me fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are very great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man."(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 21:14 ============ 1Ch 21:14 So the Lord sent a pestilence on Israel; 70,000 men of Israel fell.(nasb) 1Ch 21:14 καὶ ἔδωκεν κύριος θάνατον ἐν Ισραηλ καὶ ἔπεσον ἐξ Ισραηλ ἑβδομήκοντα χιλιάδες ἀνδρῶν (lxx) 1Ch 21:14 Misit ergo Dominus pestilentiam in Israël: et ceciderunt de Israël septuaginta millia virorum.(vulgate) 1Ch 21:14 Da ließ der HERR Pestilenz in Israel kommen, daß siebzigtausend Mann fielen aus Israel.(dhs) 1Ch 21:14 So the Lord sent a plague upon Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 21:15 ============ 1Ch 21:15 And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it; but as he was about to destroy it, the Lord saw and was sorry over the calamity, and said to the destroying angel, "It is enough; now relax your hand." Porro angelus Domini stabat juxta aream Ornan Jebusæi.(vulgate) 1Ch 21:15 Und Gott sandte den Engel gen Jerusalem, sie zu verderben. Und im Verderben sah der HERR darein und reute ihn das Übel, und er sprach zum Engel, dem Verderber: Es ist genug; laß deine Hand ab! Der Engel aber des HERRN stand bei der Tenne Ornans, des Jebusiters.(dhs) 1Ch 21:15 And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. As he was destroying, the Lord looked and relented of the disaster, and said to the angel who was destroying, "It is enough; now restrain your hand." And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 21:16 ============ 1Ch 21:16 Then David lifted up his eyes and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and heaven, with his drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Da fielen David und die Ältesten, mit Säcken bedeckt, auf ihr Antlitz.(dhs) 1Ch 21:16 Then David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and heaven, having in his hand a drawn sword stretched out over Jerusalem. Indeed, I am the one who has sinned and done very wickedly, but these sheep, what have they done? O Lord my God, please let Your hand be against me and my father's household, but not against Your people that they should be plagued."(nasb) 1Ch 21:17 καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πρὸς τὸν θεόν οὐκ ἐγὼ εἶπα τοῦ ἀριθμῆσαι ἐν τῷ λαῷ καὶ ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἁμαρτών κακοποιῶν ἐκακοποίησα καὶ ταῦτα τὰ πρόβατα τί ἐποίησαν κύριε ὁ θεός γενηθήτω ἡ χείρ σου ἐν ἐμοὶ καὶ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ μὴ ἐν τῷ λαῷ σου εἰς ἀπώλειαν κύριε (lxx) 1Ch 21:17 Dixitque David ad Deum: Nonne ego sum, qui jussi ut numeraretur populus? ego, qui peccavi? ego, qui malum feci? iste grex, quid commeruit? Domine Deus meus, vertatur, obsecro, manus tua in me, et in domum patris mei: populus autem tuus non percutiatur.(vulgate) 1Ch 21:17 Und David sprach zu Gott: Bin ich's nicht, der das Volk zählen hieß? ich bin, der gesündigt und das Übel getan hat; diese Schafe aber, was haben sie getan? HERR, mein Gott, laß deine Hand wider mich und meines Vaters Haus, und nicht wider dein Volk sein, es zu plagen!(dhs) 1Ch 21:17 And David said to God, "Was it not I who commanded the people to be numbered? I am the one who has sinned and done evil indeed; but these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I pray, O Lord my God, be against me and my father's house, but not against Your people that they should be plagued."(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 21:18 ============ 1Ch 21:18 Then the angel of the Lord commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up and build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.(nasb) 1Ch 21:18 καὶ ἄγγελος κυρίου εἶπεν τῷ Γαδ τοῦ εἰπεῖν πρὸς Δαυιδ ἵνα ἀναβῇ τοῦ στῆσαι θυσιαστήριον τῷ κυρίῳ ἐν ἅλῳ Ορνα τοῦ Ιεβουσαίου (lxx) 1Ch 21:18 Angelus autem Domini præcepit Gad ut diceret Davidi ut ascenderet, exstrueretque altare Domino Deo in area Ornan Jebusæi.(vulgate) 1Ch 21:18 Und der Engel des HERRN sprach zu Gad, daß er David sollte sagen, daß David hinaufgehen und dem HERRN einen Altar aufrichten sollte in der Tenne Ornans, des Jebusiters.(dhs) 1Ch 21:18 Therefore, the angel of the Lord commanded Gad to say to David that David should go and erect an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 21:19 ============ 1Ch 21:19 So David went up at the word of Gad, which he spoke in the name of the Lord.(nasb) 1Ch 21:19 καὶ ἀνέβη Δαυιδ κατὰ τὸν λόγον Γαδ ὃν ἐλάλησεν ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου (lxx) 1Ch 21:19 Ascendit ergo David juxta sermonem Gad, quem locutus ei fuerat ex nomine Domini.(vulgate) 1Ch 21:19 Also ging David hinauf nach dem Wort Gads, das er geredet hatte in des HERRN Namen.(dhs) 1Ch 21:19 So David went up at the word of Gad, which he had spoken in the name of the Lord.(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 21:20 ============ 1Ch 21:20 Now Ornan turned back and saw the angel, and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. And Ornan was threshing wheat.(nasb) 1Ch 21:20 καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν Ορνα καὶ εἶδεν τὸν βασιλέα καὶ τέσσαρες υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ μεθαχαβιν καὶ Ορνα ἦν ἀλοῶν πυρούς (lxx) 1Ch 21:20 Porro Ornan cum suspexisset et vidisset angelum, quatuorque filii ejus cum eo, absconderunt se: nam eo tempore terebat in area triticum.(vulgate) 1Ch 21:20 Ornan aber, da er sich wandte und sah den Engel, und seine vier Söhne mit ihm, versteckten sie sich; denn Ornan drosch Weizen.(dhs) 1Ch 21:20 Now Ornan turned and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves, but Ornan continued threshing wheat.(nkjv) ======= 1 Chronicles 21:21 ============ 1Ch 21:21 As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out from the threshing floor and prostrated himself before David with his face to the ground.(nasb) 1Ch 21:21 καὶ ἦλθεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Ορναν καὶ Ορνα ἐξῆλθεν ἐκ τῆς ἅλω καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ Δαυιδ τῷ προσώπῳ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν (lxx) 1Ch 21:21 Igitur cum veniret David ad Ornan, conspexit eum Ornan, et processit ei obviam de area, et adoravit eum pronus in terram.(vulgate) 1Ch 21:21 Als nun David zu Ornan ging, sah Ornan und ward Davids gewahr und ging heraus aus der Tenne und fiel vor David nieder mit seinem Antlitz zur Erde.(dhs) 1Ch 21:21 Then David came to Ornan, and Ornan looked and saw David.
