Today's Date: ======= 2 Chronicles 10:1 ============ 2Ch 10:1 Then Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.(nasb) 2Ch 10:1 καὶ ἦλθεν Ροβοαμ εἰς Συχεμ ὅτι εἰς Συχεμ ἤρχετο πᾶς Ισραηλ βασιλεῦσαι αὐτόν (lxx) 2Ch 10:1 Profectus est autem Roboam in Sichem: illuc enim cunctus Israël convenerat ut constituerent eum regem.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:1 Rehabeam zog gen Sichem; denn ganz Israel war gen Sichem gekommen, ihn zum König zu machen.(dhs) 2Ch 10:1 And Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had gone to Shechem to make him king.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:2 ============ 2Ch 10:2 When Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon), Jeroboam returned from Egypt.(nasb) 2Ch 10:2 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν Ιεροβοαμ υἱὸς Ναβατ καὶ αὐτὸς ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ ὡς ἔφυγεν ἀπὸ προσώπου Σαλωμων τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ κατῴκησεν Ιεροβοαμ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν Ιεροβοαμ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου (lxx) 2Ch 10:2 Quod cum audisset Jeroboam filius Nabat, qui erat in Ægypto (fugerat quippe illuc ante Salomonem), statim reversus est.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:2 Und da das Jerobeam hörte, der Sohn Nebats, der in Ägypten war, dahin er vor dem König Salomo geflohen war, kam er wieder aus Ägypten.(dhs) 2Ch 10:2 So it happened, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard it (he was in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon), that Jeroboam returned from Egypt.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:3 ============ 2Ch 10:3 So they sent and summoned him. When Jeroboam and all Israel came, they spoke to Rehoboam, saying,(nasb) 2Ch 10:3 καὶ ἀπέστειλαν καὶ ἐκάλεσαν αὐτόν καὶ ἦλθεν Ιεροβοαμ καὶ πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία Ισραηλ πρὸς Ροβοαμ λέγοντες (lxx) 2Ch 10:3 Vocaveruntque eum, et venit cum universo Israël: et locuti sunt ad Roboam, dicentes:(vulgate) 2Ch 10:3 Und sie sandten hin und ließen ihn rufen. Und Jerobeam kam mit dem ganzen Israel, und sie redeten mir Rehabeam uns sprachen:(dhs) 2Ch 10:3 Then they sent for him and called him. And Jeroboam and all Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:4 ============ 2Ch 10:4 "Your father made our yoke hard; now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you."(nasb) 2Ch 10:4 ὁ πατήρ σου ἐσκλήρυνεν τὸν ζυγὸν ἡμῶν καὶ νῦν ἄφες ἀπὸ τῆς δουλείας τοῦ πατρός σου τῆς σκληρᾶς καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ ζυγοῦ αὐτοῦ τοῦ βαρέος οὗ ἔδωκεν ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς καὶ δουλεύσομέν σοι (lxx) 2Ch 10:4 Pater tuus durissimo jugo nos pressit: tu leviora impera patre tuo, qui nobis imposuit gravem servitutem, et paululum de onere subleva, ut serviamus tibi.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:4 Dein Vater hat unser Joch zu hart gemacht; so erleichtere nun du den harten Dienst deines Vaters und das schwere Joch, das er auf uns gelegt hat, so wollen wir dir untertänig sein.(dhs) 2Ch 10:4 "Your father made our yoke heavy; now therefore, lighten the burdensome service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you."(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:5 ============ 2Ch 10:5 He said to them, "Return to me again in three days." So the people departed.(nasb) 2Ch 10:5 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς πορεύεσθε ἕως τριῶν ἡμερῶν καὶ ἔρχεσθε πρός με καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ὁ λαός (lxx) 2Ch 10:5 Qui ait: Post tres dies revertimini ad me. Cumque abiisset populus,(vulgate) 2Ch 10:5 Er sprach zu ihnen: Über drei Tage kommt wieder zu mir. Und das Volk ging hin.(dhs) 2Ch 10:5 So he said to them, "Come back to me after three days." And the people departed.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:6 ============ 2Ch 10:6 Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon while he was still alive, saying, "How do you counsel me to answer this people?"(nasb) 2Ch 10:6 καὶ συνήγαγεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους τοὺς ἑστηκότας ἐναντίον Σαλωμων τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ζῆν αὐτὸν λέγων πῶς ὑμεῖς βουλεύεσθε τοῦ ἀποκριθῆναι τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ λόγον (lxx) 2Ch 10:6 iniit consilium cum senibus qui steterant coram patre ejus Salomone dum adhuc viveret, dicens: Quid datis consilii ut respondeam populo?(vulgate) 2Ch 10:6 Und der König Rehabeam ratfragte die Ältesten, die vor seinem Vater Salomo gestanden waren, da er am Leben war, und sprach: Wie ratet ihr, daß ich diesem Volk Antwort gebe?(dhs) 2Ch 10:6 Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who stood before his father Solomon while he still lived, saying, "How do you advise me to answer these people?"(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:7 ============ 2Ch 10:7 They spoke to him, saying, "If you will be kind to this people and please them and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever."(nasb) 2Ch 10:7 καὶ ἐλάλησαν αὐτῷ λέγοντες ἐὰν ἐν τῇ σήμερον γένῃ εἰς ἀγαθὸν τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ καὶ εὐδοκήσῃς καὶ λαλήσῃς αὐτοῖς λόγους ἀγαθούς καὶ ἔσονταί σοι παῖδες πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας (lxx) 2Ch 10:7 Qui dixerunt ei: Si placueris populo huic, et leniveris eos verbis clementibus, servient tibi omni tempore.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:7 Sie redeten mit ihm und sprachen: Wirst du diesem Volk freundlich sein und sie gütig behandeln und ihnen gute Worte geben, so werden sie dir untertänig sein allewege.(dhs) 2Ch 10:7 And they spoke to him, saying, "If you are kind to these people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be your servants forever."(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:8 ============ 2Ch 10:8 But he forsook the counsel of the elders which they had given him, and consulted with the young men who grew up with him and served him.(nasb) 2Ch 10:8 καὶ κατέλιπεν τὴν βουλὴν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων οἳ συνεβουλεύσαντο αὐτῷ καὶ συνεβουλεύσατο μετὰ τῶν παιδαρίων τῶν συνεκτραφέντων μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ τῶν ἑστηκότων ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ (lxx) 2Ch 10:8 At ille reliquit consilium senum, et cum juvenibus tractare cœpit, qui cum eo nutriti fuerant, et erant in comitatu illius.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:8 Er aber ließ außer acht den Rat der Ältesten, den sie ihm gegeben hatten, und ratschlagte mit den Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren und vor ihm standen,(dhs) 2Ch 10:8 But he rejected the advice which the elders had given him, and consulted the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:9 ============ 2Ch 10:9 So he said to them, "What counsel do you give that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, 'Lighten the yoke which your father put on us'?"(nasb) 2Ch 10:9 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς τί ὑμεῖς βουλεύεσθε καὶ ἀποκριθήσομαι λόγον τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ οἳ ἐλάλησαν πρός με λέγοντες ἄνες ἀπὸ τοῦ ζυγοῦ οὗ ἔδωκεν ὁ πατήρ σου ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς (lxx) 2Ch 10:9 Dixitque ad eos: Quid vobis videtur? vel respondere quid debeo populo huic, qui dixit mihi: Subleva jugum quod imposuit nobis pater tuus?(vulgate) 2Ch 10:9 und sprach zu ihnen: Was ratet ihr, daß wir diesem Volk antworten, die mit mir geredet haben und sagen: Erleichtere das Joch, das dein Vater auf uns gelegt hat?(dhs) 2Ch 10:9 And he said to them, "What advice do you give? How should we answer this people who have spoken to me, saying, 'Lighten the yoke which your father put on us'?"(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:10 ============ 2Ch 10:10 The young men who grew up with him spoke to him, saying, "Thus you shall say to the people who spoke to you, saying, 'Your father made our yoke heavy, but you make it lighter for us.' Thus you shall say to them, 'My little finger is thicker than my father's loins!(nasb) 2Ch 10:10 καὶ ἐλάλησαν αὐτῷ τὰ παιδάρια τὰ ἐκτραφέντα μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ οὕτως λαλήσεις τῷ λαῷ τῷ λαλήσαντι πρὸς σὲ λέγων ὁ πατήρ σου ἐβάρυνεν τὸν ζυγὸν ἡμῶν καὶ σὺ ἄφες ἀφ᾽ ἡμῶν οὕτως ἐρεῖς ὁ μικρὸς δάκτυλός μου παχύτερος τῆς ὀσφύος τοῦ πατρός μου (lxx) 2Ch 10:10 At illi responderunt ut juvenes, et nutriti cum eo in deliciis, atque dixerunt: Sic loqueris populo qui dixit tibi: Pater tuus aggravavit jugum nostrum, tu subleva: et sic respondebis ei: Minimus digitus meus grossior est lumbis patris mei.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:10 Die Jungen aber, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren, redeten mit ihm und sprachen: So sollst du sagen zu dem Volk, das mit dir geredet und spricht: Dein Vater hat unser Joch zu schwer gemacht; mache du unser Joch leichter, und sprich zu ihnen: Mein kleinster Finger soll dicker sein den meines Vaters Lenden.(dhs) 2Ch 10:10 Then the young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, "Thus you should speak to the people who have spoken to you, saying, 'Your father made our yoke heavy, but you make it lighter on us'--thus you shall say to them: 'My little finger shall be thicker than my father's waist!(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:11 ============ 2Ch 10:11 Whereas my father loaded you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.'"(nasb) 2Ch 10:11 καὶ νῦν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμᾶς ζυγῷ βαρεῖ καὶ ἐγὼ προσθήσω ἐπὶ τὸν ζυγὸν ὑμῶν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμᾶς ἐν μάστιγξιν καὶ ἐγὼ παιδεύσω ὑμᾶς ἐν σκορπίοις (lxx) 2Ch 10:11 Pater meus imposuit vobis grave jugum, et ego majus pondus apponam; pater meus cecidit vos flagellis, ego vero cædam vos scorpionibus.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:11 Hat nun mein Vater auf euch ein schweres Joch geladen, so will ich eures Joches noch mehr machen: mein Vater hat euch mit Peitschen gezüchtigt, ich aber mit Skorpionen.(dhs) 2Ch 10:11 And now, whereas my father put a heavy yoke on you, I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scourges!' "(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:12 ============ 2Ch 10:12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day as the king had directed, saying, "Return to me on the third day."(nasb) 2Ch 10:12 καὶ ἦλθεν Ιεροβοαμ καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Ροβοαμ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ ὡς ἐλάλησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς λέγων ἐπιστρέψατε πρός με τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ (lxx) 2Ch 10:12 Venit ergo Jeroboam et universus populus ad Roboam die tertio, sicut præceperat eis.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:12 Als nun Jerobeam und alles Volk zu Rehabeam kam am dritten Tage, wie denn der König gesagt hatte: Kommt wieder zu mir am dritten Tage,(dhs) 2Ch 10:12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king had directed, saying, "Come back to me the third day."(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:13 ============ 2Ch 10:13 The king answered them harshly, and King Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the elders.(nasb) 2Ch 10:13 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ βασιλεὺς σκληρά καὶ ἐγκατέλιπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ τὴν βουλὴν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων (lxx) 2Ch 10:13 Responditque rex dura, derelicto consilio seniorum:(vulgate) 2Ch 10:13 antwortete ihnen der König hart. Und der König Rehabeam ließ außer acht den Rat der Ältesten(dhs) 2Ch 10:13 Then the king answered them roughly. King Rehoboam rejected the advice of the elders,(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:14 ============ 2Ch 10:14 He spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, "My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions."(nasb) 2Ch 10:14 καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς κατὰ τὴν βουλὴν τῶν νεωτέρων λέγων ὁ πατήρ μου ἐβάρυνεν τὸν ζυγὸν ὑμῶν καὶ ἐγὼ προσθήσω ἐπ᾽ αὐτόν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμᾶς ἐν μάστιγξιν καὶ ἐγὼ παιδεύσω ὑμᾶς ἐν σκορπίοις (lxx) 2Ch 10:14 locutusque est juxta juvenum voluntatem: Pater meus grave vobis imposuit jugum, quod ego gravius faciam; pater meus cecidit vos flagellis, ego vero cædam vos scorpionibus.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:14 und redete mit ihnen nach dem Rat der Jungen und sprach: Hat mein Vater euer Joch schwer gemacht, so will ich noch mehr dazu machen: mein Vater hat euch mit Peitschen gezüchtigt, ich aber mit Skorpionen.(dhs) 2Ch 10:14 and he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, "My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scourges!"(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:15 ============ 2Ch 10:15 So the king did not listen to the people, for it was a turn of events from God that the Lord might establish His word, which He spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.(nasb) 2Ch 10:15 καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τοῦ λαοῦ ὅτι ἦν μεταστροφὴ παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ λέγων ἀνέστησεν κύριος τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ ὃν ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ Αχια τοῦ Σηλωνίτου περὶ Ιεροβοαμ υἱοῦ Ναβατ (lxx) 2Ch 10:15 Et non acquievit populi precibus: erat enim voluntatis Dei ut compleretur sermo ejus quem locutus fuerat per manum Ahiæ Silonitis ad Jeroboam filium Nabat.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:15 Also gehorchte der König dem Volk nicht; denn es war also von Gott gewandt, auf daß der HERR sein Wort bestätigte, das er geredet hatte durch Ahia von Silo zu Jerobeam, dem Sohn Nebats.(dhs) 2Ch 10:15 So the king did not listen to the people; for the turn of events was from God, that the Lord might fulfill His word, which He had spoken by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:16 ============ 2Ch 10:16 When all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them the people answered the king, saying, "What portion do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to your tents, O Israel; Now look after your own house, David." Revertere in tabernacula tua, Israël; tu autem pasce domum tuam David. Et abiit Israël in tabernacula sua.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:16 Da aber das ganze Israel sah, daß ihnen der König nicht gehorchte, antwortete das Volk dem König und sprach: Was haben wir für Teil an David oder Erbe am Sohn Isais? Jedermann von Israel zu seiner Hütte! So siehe nun du zu deinem Hause, David! Und das ganze Israel ging in seine Hütten,(dhs) 2Ch 10:16 Now when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying: "What share have we in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to your tents, O Israel! Now see to your own house, O David!" So all Israel departed to their tents.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:17 ============ 2Ch 10:17 But as for the sons of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.(nasb) 2Ch 10:17 καὶ ἄνδρες Ισραηλ οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν πόλεσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτῶν Ροβοαμ (lxx) 2Ch 10:17 Super filios autem Israël qui habitabant in civitatibus Juda, regnavit Roboam.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:17 also daß Rehabeam nur über die Kinder Israel regierte, die in den Städten Juda's wohnten.(dhs) 2Ch 10:17 But Rehoboam reigned over the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:18 ============ 2Ch 10:18 Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the forced labor, and the sons of Israel stoned him to death. And King Rehoboam made haste to mount his chariot to flee to Jerusalem.(nasb) 2Ch 10:18 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ τὸν Αδωνιραμ τὸν ἐπὶ τοῦ φόρου καὶ ἐλιθοβόλησαν αὐτὸν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ λίθοις καὶ ἀπέθανεν καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ ἔσπευσεν τοῦ ἀναβῆναι εἰς τὸ ἅρμα τοῦ φυγεῖν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ (lxx) 2Ch 10:18 Misitque rex Roboam Aduram, qui præerat tributis, et lapidaverunt eum filii Israël, et mortuus est: porro rex Roboam currum festinavit ascendere, et fugit in Jerusalem.(vulgate) 2Ch 10:18 Aber der König Rehabeam sandte Hadoram, den Rentmeister; aber die Kinder Israel steinigten ihn zu Tode. Und der König Rehabeam stieg stracks auf seinen Wagen, daß er flöhe gen Jerusalem.(dhs) 2Ch 10:18 Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was in charge of revenue; but the children of Israel stoned him with stones, and he died.
