Today's Date: Est 10:3 For Mordecai the Jew was second to King Ahasuerus, and was great among the Jews and well received by the multitude of his brethren, seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all his countrymen.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:1 ============ Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.(nasb) Job 1:1 ἄνθρωπός τις ἦν ἐν χώρᾳ τῇ Αυσίτιδι ᾧ ὄνομα Ιωβ καὶ ἦν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος ἀληθινός ἄμεμπτος δίκαιος θεοσεβής ἀπεχόμενος ἀπὸ παντὸς πονηροῦ πράγματος (lxx) Job 1:1 Vir erat in terra Hus, nomine Job: et erat vir ille simplex, et rectus, ac timens Deum, et recedens a malo.(vulgate) Job 1:1 Es war ein Mann im Lande Uz, der hieß Hiob. Derselbe war schlecht und recht, gottesfürchtig und mied das Böse.(dhs) Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:2 ============ Job 1:2 Seven sons and three daughters were born to him.(nasb) Job 1:2 ἐγένοντο δὲ αὐτῷ υἱοὶ ἑπτὰ καὶ θυγατέρες τρεῖς (lxx) Job 1:2 Natique sunt ei septem filii, et tres filiæ.(vulgate) Job 1:2 Und zeugte sieben Söhne und drei Töchter;(dhs) Job 1:2 And seven sons and three daughters were born to him.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:3 ============ Job 1:3 His possessions also were 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and very many servants; and that man was the greatest of all the men of the east.(nasb) Job 1:3 καὶ ἦν τὰ κτήνη αὐτοῦ πρόβατα ἑπτακισχίλια κάμηλοι τρισχίλιαι ζεύγη βοῶν πεντακόσια ὄνοι θήλειαι νομάδες πεντακόσιαι καὶ ὑπηρεσία πολλὴ σφόδρα καὶ ἔργα μεγάλα ἦν αὐτῷ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἦν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος εὐγενὴς τῶν ἀφ᾽ ἡλίου ἀνατολῶν (lxx) Job 1:3 Et fuit possessio ejus septem millia ovium, et tria millia camelorum, quingenta quoque juga boum, et quingentæ asinæ, ac familia multa nimis: eratque vir ille magnus inter omnes orientales.(vulgate) Job 1:3 und seines Viehs waren siebentausend Schafe, dreitausend Kamele, fünfhundert Joch Rinder und fünfhundert Eselinnen, und er hatte viel Gesinde; und er war herrlicher denn alle, die gegen Morgen wohnten.(dhs) Job 1:3 Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:4 ============ Job 1:4 His sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each one on his day, and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.(nasb) Job 1:4 συμπορευόμενοι δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ πρὸς ἀλλήλους ἐποιοῦσαν πότον καθ᾽ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν συμπαραλαμβάνοντες ἅμα καὶ τὰς τρεῖς ἀδελφὰς αὐτῶν ἐσθίειν καὶ πίνειν μετ᾽ αὐτῶν (lxx) Job 1:4 Et ibant filii ejus, et faciebant convivium per domos, unusquisque in die suo. Et mittentes vocabant tres sorores suas, ut comederent et biberent cum eis.(vulgate) Job 1:4 Und seine Söhne gingen und machten ein Mahl, ein jeglicher in seinem Hause auf seinen Tag, und sandten hin und luden ihre drei Schwestern, mit ihnen zu essen und zu trinken.(dhs) Job 1:4 And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:5 ============ Job 1:5 When the days of feasting had completed their cycle, Job would send and consecrate them, rising up early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, "Perhaps my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did continually.(nasb) Job 1:5 καὶ ὡς ἂν συνετελέσθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ πότου ἀπέστελλεν Ιωβ καὶ ἐκαθάριζεν αὐτοὺς ἀνιστάμενος τὸ πρωὶ καὶ προσέφερεν περὶ αὐτῶν θυσίας κατὰ τὸν ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν καὶ μόσχον ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας περὶ τῶν ψυχῶν αὐτῶν ἔλεγεν γὰρ Ιωβ μήποτε οἱ υἱοί μου ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ αὐτῶν κακὰ ἐνενόησαν πρὸς θεόν οὕτως οὖν ἐποίει Ιωβ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας (lxx) Job 1:5 Cumque in orbem transissent dies convivii, mittebat ad eos Job, et sanctificabat illos: consurgensque diluculo, offerebat holocausta pro singulis. Dicebat enim: Ne forte peccaverint filii mei, et benedixerint Deo in cordibus suis. Sic faciebat Job cunctis diebus.~(vulgate) Job 1:5 Und wenn die Tage des Mahls um waren, sandte Hiob hin und heiligte sie und machte sich des Morgens früh auf und opferte Brandopfer nach ihrer aller Zahl; denn Hiob gedachte: Meine Söhne möchten gesündigt und Gott abgesagt haben in ihrem Herzen. Also tat Hiob allezeit.(dhs) Job 1:5 So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did regularly.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:6 ============ Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.(nasb) Job 1:6 καὶ ὡς ἐγένετο ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη καὶ ἰδοὺ ἦλθον οἱ ἄγγελοι τοῦ θεοῦ παραστῆναι ἐνώπιον τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ὁ διάβολος ἦλθεν μετ᾽ αὐτῶν (lxx) Job 1:6 Quadam autem die, cum venissent filii Dei ut assisterent coram Domino, affuit inter eos etiam Satan.(vulgate) Job 1:6 Es begab sich aber auf einen Tag, da die Kinder Gottes kamen und vor den HERRN traten, kam der Satan auch unter ihnen.(dhs) Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:7 ============ Job 1:7 The Lord said to Satan, "From where do you come?" Then Satan answered the Lord and said, "From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it."(nasb) Job 1:7 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος τῷ διαβόλῳ πόθεν παραγέγονας καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ διάβολος τῷ κυρίῳ εἶπεν περιελθὼν τὴν γῆν καὶ ἐμπεριπατήσας τὴν ὑπ᾽ οὐρανὸν πάρειμι (lxx) Job 1:7 Cui dixit Dominus: Unde venis? Qui respondens, ait: Circuivi terram, et perambulavi eam.(vulgate) Job 1:7 Der HERR aber sprach zu dem Satan: Wo kommst du her? Satan antwortete dem HERRN und sprach: Ich habe das Land umher durchzogen.(dhs) Job 1:7 And the Lord said to Satan, "From where do you come?" So Satan answered the Lord and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it."(nkjv) ======= Job 1:8 ============ Job 1:8 The Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil."(nasb) Job 1:8 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ κύριος προσέσχες τῇ διανοίᾳ σου κατὰ τοῦ παιδός μου Ιωβ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν κατ᾽ αὐτὸν τῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἄνθρωπος ἄμεμπτος ἀληθινός θεοσεβής ἀπεχόμενος ἀπὸ παντὸς πονηροῦ πράγματος (lxx) Job 1:8 Dixitque Dominus ad eum: Numquid considerasti servum meum Job, quod non sit ei similis in terra, homo simplex et rectus, ac timens Deum, et recedens a malo?(vulgate) Job 1:8 Der HERR sprach zu Satan: Hast du nicht achtgehabt auf meinen Knecht Hiob? Denn es ist seinesgleichen nicht im Lande, schlecht und recht, gottesfürchtig und meidet das Böse.(dhs) Job 1:8 Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:9 ============ Job 1:9 Then Satan answered the Lord, "Does Job fear God for nothing?(nasb) Job 1:9 ἀπεκρίθη δὲ ὁ διάβολος καὶ εἶπεν ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου μὴ δωρεὰν σέβεται Ιωβ τὸν θεόν (lxx) Job 1:9 Cui respondens Satan, ait: Numquid Job frustra timet Deum?(vulgate) Job 1:9 Der Satan antwortete dem HERRN und sprach: Meinst du, daß Hiob umsonst Gott fürchtet?(dhs) Job 1:9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing?(nkjv) ======= Job 1:10 ============ Job 1:10 Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.(nasb) Job 1:10 οὐ σὺ περιέφραξας τὰ ἔξω αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ἔσω τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ἔξω πάντων τῶν ὄντων αὐτῷ κύκλῳ τὰ ἔργα τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ εὐλόγησας καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτοῦ πολλὰ ἐποίησας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς (lxx) Job 1:10 nonne tu vallasti eum, ac domum ejus, universamque substantiam per circuitum; operibus manuum ejus benedixisti, et possessio ejus crevit in terra?(vulgate) Job 1:10 Hast du doch ihn, sein Haus und alles, was er hat, ringsumher verwahrt. Du hast das Werk seiner Hände gesegnet, und sein Gut hat sich ausgebreitet im Lande.(dhs) Job 1:10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:11 ============ Job 1:11 But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face."(nasb) Job 1:11 ἀλλὰ ἀπόστειλον τὴν χεῖρά σου καὶ ἅψαι πάντων ὧν ἔχει εἰ μὴν εἰς πρόσωπόν σε εὐλογήσει (lxx) Job 1:11 sed extende paululum manum tuam et tange cuncta quæ possidet, nisi in faciem benedixerit tibi.(vulgate) Job 1:11 Aber recke deine Hand aus und taste an alles, was er hat: was gilt's, er wird dir ins Angesicht absagen?(dhs) Job 1:11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:12 ============ Job 1:12 Then the Lord said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him." So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.(nasb) Job 1:12 τότε εἶπεν ὁ κύριος τῷ διαβόλῳ ἰδοὺ πάντα ὅσα ἔστιν αὐτῷ δίδωμι ἐν τῇ χειρί σου ἀλλὰ αὐτοῦ μὴ ἅψῃ καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ διάβολος παρὰ τοῦ κυρίου (lxx) Job 1:12 Dixit ergo Dominus ad Satan: Ecce universa quæ habet in manu tua sunt: tantum in eum ne extendas manum tuam. Egressusque est Satan a facie Domini.(vulgate) Job 1:12 Der HERR sprach zum Satan: Siehe, alles, was er hat, sei in deiner Hand; nur an ihn selbst lege deine Hand nicht. Da ging der Satan aus von dem HERRN.(dhs) Job 1:12 And the Lord said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person." So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:13 ============ Job 1:13 Now on the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,(nasb) Job 1:13 καὶ ἦν ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη οἱ υἱοὶ Ιωβ καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες αὐτοῦ ἔπινον οἶνον ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτῶν τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου (lxx) Job 1:13 Cum autem quadam die filii et filiæ ejus comederent et biberent vinum in domo fratris sui primogeniti,(vulgate) Job 1:13 Des Tages aber, da seine Söhne und Töchter aßen und Wein tranken in ihres Bruders Hause, des Erstgeborenen,(dhs) Job 1:13 Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house;(nkjv) ======= Job 1:14 ============ Job 1:14 a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them,(nasb) Job 1:14 καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄγγελος ἦλθεν πρὸς Ιωβ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ τὰ ζεύγη τῶν βοῶν ἠροτρία καὶ αἱ θήλειαι ὄνοι ἐβόσκοντο ἐχόμεναι αὐτῶν (lxx) Job 1:14 nuntius venit ad Job, qui diceret: Boves arabant, et asinæ pascebantur juxta eos:(vulgate) Job 1:14 kam ein Bote zu Hiob und sprach: Die Rinder pflügten, und die Eselinnen gingen neben ihnen auf der Weide,(dhs) Job 1:14 and a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them,(nkjv) ======= Job 1:15 ============ Job 1:15 and the Sabeans attacked and took them. They also slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."(nasb) Job 1:15 καὶ ἐλθόντες οἱ αἰχμαλωτεύοντες ᾐχμαλώτευσαν αὐτὰς καὶ τοὺς παῖδας ἀπέκτειναν ἐν μαχαίραις σωθεὶς δὲ ἐγὼ μόνος ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι (lxx) Job 1:15 et irruerunt Sabæi, tuleruntque omnia, et pueros percusserunt gladio: et evasi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.(vulgate) Job 1:15 da fielen die aus Saba herein und nahmen sie und schlugen die Knechte mit der Schärfe des Schwerts; und ich bin allein entronnen, daß ich dir's ansagte.(dhs) Job 1:15 when the Sabeans raided them and took them away--indeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:16 ============ Job 1:16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you."(nasb) Job 1:16 ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος ἦλθεν ἕτερος ἄγγελος καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Ιωβ πῦρ ἔπεσεν ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ κατέκαυσεν τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τοὺς ποιμένας κατέφαγεν ὁμοίως καὶ σωθεὶς ἐγὼ μόνος ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι (lxx) Job 1:16 Cumque adhuc ille loqueretur, venit alter, et dixit: Ignis Dei cecidit e cælo, et tactas oves puerosque consumpsit: et effugi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.(vulgate) Job 1:16 Da er noch redete, kam ein anderer und sprach: Das Feuer Gottes fiel vom Himmel und verbrannte Schafe und Knechte und verzehrte sie; und ich bin allein entronnen, daß ich dir's ansagte.(dhs) Job 1:16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:17 ============ Job 1:17 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three bands and made a raid on the camels and took them and slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."(nasb) Job 1:17 ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος ἦλθεν ἕτερος ἄγγελος καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Ιωβ οἱ ἱππεῖς ἐποίησαν ἡμῖν κεφαλὰς τρεῖς καὶ ἐκύκλωσαν τὰς καμήλους καὶ ᾐχμαλώτευσαν αὐτὰς καὶ τοὺς παῖδας ἀπέκτειναν ἐν μαχαίραις ἐσώθην δὲ ἐγὼ μόνος καὶ ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι (lxx) Job 1:17 Sed et illo adhuc loquente, venit alius, et dixit: Chaldæi fecerunt tres turmas, et invaserunt camelos, et tulerunt eos, necnon et pueros percusserunt gladio: et ego fugi solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.(vulgate) Job 1:17 Da der noch redete, kam einer und sprach: Die Chaldäer machte drei Rotten und überfielen die Kamele und nahmen sie und schlugen die Knechte mit der Schärfe des Schwerts; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:18 ============ Job 1:18 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,(nasb) Job 1:18 ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος ἄλλος ἄγγελος ἔρχεται λέγων τῷ Ιωβ τῶν υἱῶν σου καὶ τῶν θυγατέρων σου ἐσθιόντων καὶ πινόντων παρὰ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτῶν τῷ πρεσβυτέρῳ (lxx) Job 1:18 Adhuc loquebatur ille, et ecce alius intravit, et dixit: Filiis tuis et filiabus vescentibus et bibentibus vinum in domo fratris sui primogeniti,(vulgate) Job 1:18 Da der noch redete, kam einer und sprach: Deine Söhne und Töchter aßen und tranken im Hause ihres Bruders, des Erstgeborenen,(dhs) Job 1:18 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,(nkjv) ======= Job 1:19 ============ Job 1:19 and behold, a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people and they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you."(nasb) Job 1:19 ἐξαίφνης πνεῦμα μέγα ἐπῆλθεν ἐκ τῆς ἐρήμου καὶ ἥψατο τῶν τεσσάρων γωνιῶν τῆς οἰκίας καὶ ἔπεσεν ἡ οἰκία ἐπὶ τὰ παιδία σου καὶ ἐτελεύτησαν ἐσώθην δὲ ἐγὼ μόνος καὶ ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι (lxx) Job 1:19 repente ventus vehemens irruit a regione deserti, et concussit quatuor angulos domus: quæ corruens oppressit liberos tuos, et mortui sunt: et effugi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.(vulgate) Job 1:19 Und siehe, da kam ein großer Wind von der Wüste her und stieß auf die vier Ecken des Hauses und warf's auf die jungen Leute, daß sie starben; und ich bin allein entronnen, daß ich dir's ansagte.(dhs) Job 1:19 and suddenly a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:20 ============ Job 1:20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped.(nasb) Job 1:20 οὕτως ἀναστὰς Ιωβ διέρρηξεν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκείρατο τὴν κόμην τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ πεσὼν χαμαὶ προσεκύνησεν καὶ εἶπεν (lxx) Job 1:20 Tunc surrexit Job, et scidit vestimenta sua: et tonso capite corruens in terram, adoravit,(vulgate) Job 1:20 Da stand Hiob auf und zerriß seine Kleider und raufte sein Haupt und fiel auf die Erde und betete an(dhs) Job 1:20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:21 ============ Job 1:21 He said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked I shall return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord."(nasb) Job 1:21 αὐτὸς γυμνὸς ἐξῆλθον ἐκ κοιλίας μητρός μου γυμνὸς καὶ ἀπελεύσομαι ἐκεῖ ὁ κύριος ἔδωκεν ὁ κύριος ἀφείλατο ὡς τῷ κυρίῳ ἔδοξεν οὕτως καὶ ἐγένετο εἴη τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου εὐλογημένον (lxx) Job 1:21 et dixit: Nudus egressus sum de utero matris meæ, et nudus revertar illuc. Dominus dedit, Dominus abstulit; sicut Domino placuit, ita factum est. Sit nomen Domini benedictum.(vulgate) Job 1:21 und sprach: Ich bin nackt von meiner Mutter Leibe gekommen, nackt werde ich wieder dahinfahren. Der HERR hat's gegeben, der HERR hat's genommen; der Name des HERRN sei gelobt.(dhs) Job 1:21 And he said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord."(nkjv) ======= Job 1:22 ============ Job 1:22 Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God.(nasb) Job 1:22 ἐν τούτοις πᾶσιν τοῖς συμβεβηκόσιν αὐτῷ οὐδὲν ἥμαρτεν Ιωβ ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν ἀφροσύνην τῷ θεῷ (lxx) Job 1:22 In omnibus his non peccavit Job labiis suis, neque stultum quid contra Deum locutus est.(vulgate) Job 1:22 In diesem allem sündigte Hiob nicht und tat nichts Törichtes wider Gott.(dhs) Job 1:22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.(nkjv) ======= Job 2:1 ============ top of the page
