Today's Date: ======= Isaiah 18:1 ============ Isa 18:1 Alas, oh land of whirring wings Which lies beyond the rivers of Cush,(nasb) Isa 18:1 οὐαὶ γῆς πλοίων πτέρυγες ἐπέκεινα ποταμῶν Αἰθιοπίας (lxx) Isa 18:1 [Væ terræ cymbalo alarum, quæ est trans flumina Æthiopiæ,(vulgate) Isa 18:1 Weh dem Lande, das unter den Segeln im Schatten fährt, jenseits der Wasser des Mohrenlandes,(dhs) Isa 18:1 Woe to the land shadowed with buzzing wings, Which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia,(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 18:2 ============ Isa 18:2 Which sends envoys by the sea, Even in papyrus vessels on the surface of the waters. Go, swift messengers, to a nation tall and smooth, To a people feared far and wide, A powerful and oppressive nation Whose land the rivers divide.(nasb) Isa 18:2 ὁ ἀποστέλλων ἐν θαλάσσῃ ὅμηρα καὶ ἐπιστολὰς βυβλίνας ἐπάνω τοῦ ὕδατος πορεύσονται γὰρ ἄγγελοι κοῦφοι πρὸς ἔθνος μετέωρον καὶ ξένον λαὸν καὶ χαλεπόν τίς αὐτοῦ ἐπέκεινα ἔθνος ἀνέλπιστον καὶ καταπεπατημένον νῦν οἱ ποταμοὶ τῆς γῆς (lxx) Isa 18:2 qui mittit in mare legatos, et in vasis papyri super aquas. Ite, angeli veloces, ad gentem convulsam et dilaceratam; ad populum terribilem, post quem non est alius; ad gentem exspectantem et conculcatam, cujus diripuerunt flumina terram ejus.(vulgate) Isa 18:2 das Botschafter auf dem Meer sendet und in Rohrschiffen auf den Wassern fährt! Gehet hin, ihr schnellen Boten, zum Volk, das hochgewachsen und glatt ist, zum Volk, das schrecklicher ist denn sonst irgend eins, zum Volk, das gebeut und zertritt, welchem die Wasserströme sein Land einnehmen.(dhs) Isa 18:2 Which sends ambassadors by sea, Even in vessels of reed on the waters, saying, "Go, swift messengers, to a nation tall and smooth of skin, To a people terrible from their beginning onward, A nation powerful and treading down, Whose land the rivers divide."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 18:3 ============ Isa 18:3 All you inhabitants of the world and dwellers on earth, As soon as a standard is raised on the mountains, you will see it, And as soon as the trumpet is blown, you will hear it.(nasb) Isa 18:3 πάντες ὡς χώρα κατοικουμένη κατοικηθήσεται ἡ χώρα αὐτῶν ὡσεὶ σημεῖον ἀπὸ ὄρους ἀρθῇ ὡς σάλπιγγος φωνὴ ἀκουστὸν ἔσται (lxx) Isa 18:3 Omnes habitatores orbis, qui moramini in terra, cum elevatum fuerit signum in montibus, videbitis, et clangorem tubæ audietis.(vulgate) Isa 18:3 Alle, die ihr auf Erden wohnet und im Lande sitzet, werden sehen, wie man das Panier auf den Bergen aufwerfen wird, und hören, wie man die Drommeten blasen wird.(dhs) Isa 18:3 All inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth: When he lifts up a banner on the mountains, you see it; And when he blows a trumpet, you hear it.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 18:4 ============ Isa 18:4 For thus the Lord has told me, "I will look from My dwelling place quietly Like dazzling heat in the sunshine, Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."(nasb) Isa 18:4 ὅτι οὕτως εἶπέν μοι κύριος ἀσφάλεια ἔσται ἐν τῇ ἐμῇ πόλει ὡς φῶς καύματος μεσημβρίας καὶ ὡς νεφέλη δρόσου ἡμέρας ἀμήτου ἔσται (lxx) Isa 18:4 Quia hæc dicit Dominus ad me: Quiescam et considerabo in loco meo, sicut meridiana lux clara est, et sicut nubes roris in die messis.(vulgate) Isa 18:4 Denn so spricht der HERR zu mir: Ich will stillhalten und schauen in meinem Sitz wie bei heller Hitze im Sonnenschein, wie bei Taugewölk in der Hitze der Ernte.(dhs) Isa 18:4 For so the Lord said to me, "I will take My rest, And I will look from My dwelling place Like clear heat in sunshine, Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 18:5 ============ Isa 18:5 For before the harvest, as soon as the bud blossoms And the flower becomes a ripening grape, Then He will cut off the sprigs with pruning knives And remove and cut away the spreading branches.(nasb) Isa 18:5 πρὸ τοῦ θερισμοῦ ὅταν συντελεσθῇ ἄνθος καὶ ὄμφαξ ἀνθήσῃ ἄνθος ὀμφακίζουσα καὶ ἀφελεῖ τὰ βοτρύδια τὰ μικρὰ τοῖς δρεπάνοις καὶ τὰς κληματίδας ἀφελεῖ καὶ κατακόψει (lxx) Isa 18:5 Ante messem enim totus effloruit, et immatura perfectio germinabit; et præcidentur ramusculi ejus falcibus, et quæ derelicta fuerint abscindentur et excutientur.(vulgate) Isa 18:5 Denn vor der Ernte, wenn die Blüte vorüber ist und die Traube reift, wird man die Ranken mit Hippen abschneiden und die Reben wegnehmen und abhauen,(dhs) Isa 18:5 For before the harvest, when the bud is perfect And the sour grape is ripening in the flower, He will both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks And take away and cut down the branches.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 18:6 ============ Isa 18:6 They will be left together for mountain birds of prey, And for the beasts of the earth; And the birds of prey will spend the summer feeding on them, And all the beasts of the earth will spend harvest time on them.(nasb) Isa 18:6 καὶ καταλείψει ἅμα τοῖς πετεινοῖς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τοῖς θηρίοις τῆς γῆς καὶ συναχθήσεται ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ θηρία τῆς γῆς ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν ἥξει (lxx) Isa 18:6 Et relinquentur simul avibus montium et bestiis terræ; et æstate perpetua erunt super eum volucres, et omnes bestiæ terræ super illum hiemabunt.(vulgate) Isa 18:6 daß man's miteinander läßt liegen den Vögeln auf den Bergen und den Tieren im Lande, daß des Sommers die Vögel darin nisten und des Winters allerlei Tiere im Lande darin liegen.(dhs) Isa 18:6 They will be left together for the mountain birds of prey And for the beasts of the earth; The birds of prey will summer on them, And all the beasts of the earth will winter on them.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 18:7 ============ Isa 18:7 At that time a gift of homage will be brought to the Lord of hosts From a people tall and smooth, Even from a people feared far and wide, A powerful and oppressive nation, Whose land the rivers divide-- To the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, even Mount Zion.(nasb) Isa 18:7 ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἀνενεχθήσεται δῶρα κυρίῳ σαβαωθ ἐκ λαοῦ τεθλιμμένου καὶ τετιλμένου καὶ ἀπὸ λαοῦ μεγάλου ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα χρόνον ἔθνος ἐλπίζον καὶ καταπεπατημένον ὅ ἐστιν ἐν μέρει ποταμοῦ τῆς χώρας αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν τόπον οὗ τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου σαβαωθ ἐπεκλήθη ὄρος Σιων (lxx) Isa 18:7 In tempore illo deferetur munus Domino exercituum a populo divulso et dilacerato, a populo terribili, post quem non fuit alius; a gente exspectante, exspectante et conculcata, cujus diripuerunt flumina terram ejus; ad locum nominis Domini exercituum, montem Sion.](vulgate) Isa 18:7 Zu der Zeit wird das hochgewachsenen und glatte Volk, das schrecklicher ist denn sonst irgend eins, das gebeut und zertritt, welchem die Wasserströme sein Land einnehmen, Geschenke bringen dem HERRN Zebaoth an den Ort, da der Name des HERRN Zebaoth ist, zum Berge Zion.(dhs) Isa 18:7 In that time a present will be brought to the Lord of hosts From a people tall and smooth of skin, And from a people terrible from their beginning onward, A nation powerful and treading down, Whose land the rivers divide-- To the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, To Mount Zion.(nkjv) ======= Isaiah 19:1 ============ top of the page
