Today's Date: ======= Jeremiah 14:1 ============ Jer 14:1 That which came as the word of the Lord to Jeremiah in regard to the drought:(nasb) Jer 14:1 καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρὸς Ιερεμιαν περὶ τῆς ἀβροχίας (lxx) Jer 14:1 Quod factum est verbum Domini ad Jeremiam, de sermonibus siccitatis.(vulgate) Jer 14:1 Dies ist das Wort, das der HERR zu Jeremia sagte von der teuren Zeit:(dhs) Jer 14:1 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the droughts.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:2 ============ Jer 14:2 "Judah mourns And her gates languish; They sit on the ground in mourning, And the cry of Jerusalem has ascended.(nasb) Jer 14:2 ἐπένθησεν ἡ Ιουδαία καὶ αἱ πύλαι αὐτῆς ἐκενώθησαν καὶ ἐσκοτώθησαν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἡ κραυγὴ τῆς Ιερουσαλημ ἀνέβη (lxx) Jer 14:2 [Luxit Judæa, et portæ ejus corruerunt, et obscuratæ sunt in terra, et clamor Jerusalem ascendit.(vulgate) Jer 14:2 Juda liegt jämmerlich, ihre Tore stehen elend; es steht kläglich auf dem Lande, und ist zu Jerusalem ein großes Geschrei.(dhs) Jer 14:2 "Judah mourns, And her gates languish; They mourn for the land, And the cry of Jerusalem has gone up.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:3 ============ Jer 14:3 "Their nobles have sent their servants for water; They have come to the cisterns and found no water. They have returned with their vessels empty; They have been put to shame and humiliated, And they cover their heads.(nasb) Jer 14:3 καὶ οἱ μεγιστᾶνες αὐτῆς ἀπέστειλαν τοὺς νεωτέρους αὐτῶν ἐφ᾽ ὕδωρ ἤλθοσαν ἐπὶ τὰ φρέατα καὶ οὐχ εὕροσαν ὕδωρ καὶ ἀπέστρεψαν τὰ ἀγγεῖα αὐτῶν κενά (lxx) Jer 14:3 Majores miserunt minores suos ad aquam: venerunt ad hauriendum. Non invenerunt aquam: reportaverunt vasa sua vacua. Confusi sunt, et afflicti, et operuerunt capita sua.(vulgate) Jer 14:3 Die Großen schicken die Kleinen nach Wasser; aber wenn sie zum Brunnen kommen, finden sie kein Wasser und bringen ihre Gefäße leer wieder; sie gehen traurig und betrübt und verhüllen ihre Häupter.(dhs) Jer 14:3 Their nobles have sent their lads for water; They went to the cisterns and found no water. They returned with their vessels empty; They were ashamed and confounded And covered their heads.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:4 ============ Jer 14:4 "Because the ground is cracked, For there has been no rain on the land; The farmers have been put to shame, They have covered their heads.(nasb) Jer 14:4 καὶ τὰ ἔργα τῆς γῆς ἐξέλιπεν ὅτι οὐκ ἦν ὑετός ᾐσχύνθησαν γεωργοί ἐπεκάλυψαν τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν (lxx) Jer 14:4 Propter terræ vastitatem, quia non venit pluvia in terram, confusi sunt agricolæ: operuerunt capita sua.(vulgate) Jer 14:4 Darum daß die Erde lechzt, weil es nicht regnet auf die Erde, gehen die Ackerleute traurig und verhüllen ihre Häupter.(dhs) Jer 14:4 Because the ground is parched, For there was no rain in the land, The plowmen were ashamed; They covered their heads.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:5 ============ Jer 14:5 "For even the doe in the field has given birth only to abandon her young, Because there is no grass.(nasb) Jer 14:5 καὶ ἔλαφοι ἐν ἀγρῷ ἔτεκον καὶ ἐγκατέλιπον ὅτι οὐκ ἦν βοτάνη (lxx) Jer 14:5 Nam et cerva in agro peperit, et reliquit, quia non erat herba.(vulgate) Jer 14:5 Denn auch die Hinden, die auf dem Felde werfen, verlassen ihre Jungen, weil kein Gras wächst.(dhs) Jer 14:5 Yes, the deer also gave birth in the field, But left because there was no grass.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:6 ============ Jer 14:6 "The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights; They pant for air like jackals, Their eyes fail For there is no vegetation.(nasb) Jer 14:6 ὄνοι ἄγριοι ἔστησαν ἐπὶ νάπας εἵλκυσαν ἄνεμον ἐξέλιπον οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτῶν ὅτι οὐκ ἦν χόρτος ἀπὸ λαοῦ ἀδικίας (lxx) Jer 14:6 Et onagri steterunt in rupibus; traxerunt ventum quasi dracones: defecerunt oculi eorum, quia non erat herba.(vulgate) Jer 14:6 Das Wild steht auf den Hügeln und schnappt nach der Luft wie die Drachen und verschmachtet, weil kein Kraut wächst.(dhs) Jer 14:6 And the wild donkeys stood in the desolate heights; They sniffed at the wind like jackals; Their eyes failed because there was no grass."(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:7 ============ Jer 14:7 "Although our iniquities testify against us, O Lord, act for Your name's sake! Truly our apostasies have been many, We have sinned against You.(nasb) Jer 14:7 εἰ αἱ ἁμαρτίαι ἡμῶν ἀντέστησαν ἡμῖν κύριε ποίησον ἡμῖν ἕνεκεν σοῦ ὅτι πολλαὶ αἱ ἁμαρτίαι ἡμῶν ἐναντίον σοῦ ὅτι σοὶ ἡμάρτομεν (lxx) Jer 14:7 Si iniquitates nostræ responderint nobis, Domine, fac propter nomen tuum: quoniam multæ sunt aversiones nostræ: tibi peccavimus.(vulgate) Jer 14:7 Ach HERR, unsre Missetaten haben's ja verdient; aber hilf doch um deines Namens willen! denn unser Ungehorsam ist groß; damit wir wider dich gesündigt haben.(dhs) Jer 14:7 O Lord, though our iniquities testify against us, Do it for Your name's sake; For our backslidings are many, We have sinned against You.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:8 ============ Jer 14:8 "O Hope of Israel, Its Savior in time of distress, Why are You like a stranger in the land Or like a traveler who has pitched his tent for the night?(nasb) Jer 14:8 ὑπομονὴ Ισραηλ κύριε καὶ σῴζεις ἐν καιρῷ κακῶν ἵνα τί ἐγενήθης ὡσεὶ πάροικος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ὡς αὐτόχθων ἐκκλίνων εἰς κατάλυμα (lxx) Jer 14:8 Exspectatio Israël, salvator ejus in tempore tribulationis, quare quasi colonus futurus es in terra, et quasi viator declinans ad manendum?(vulgate) Jer 14:8 Du bist der Trost Israels und sein Nothelfer; warum stellst du dich, als wärest du ein Gast im Lande und ein Fremder, der nur über Nacht darin bleibt?(dhs) Jer 14:8 O the Hope of Israel, his Savior in time of trouble, Why should You be like a stranger in the land, And like a traveler who turns aside to tarry for a night?(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:9 ============ Jer 14:9 "Why are You like a man dismayed, Like a mighty man who cannot save? Yet You are in our midst, O Lord, And we are called by Your name; Do not forsake us!"(nasb) Jer 14:9 μὴ ἔσῃ ὥσπερ ἄνθρωπος ὑπνῶν ἢ ὡς ἀνὴρ οὐ δυνάμενος σῴζειν καὶ σὺ ἐν ἡμῖν εἶ κύριε καὶ τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐπικέκληται ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς μὴ ἐπιλάθῃ ἡμῶν (lxx) Jer 14:9 quare futurus es velut vir vagus, ut fortis qui non potest salvare? Tu autem in nobis es, Domine, et nomen tuum invocatum est super nos: ne derelinquas nos.(vulgate) Jer 14:9 Warum stellst du dich wie ein Held, der verzagt ist, und wie ein Riese, der nicht helfen kann? Du bist ja doch unter uns, HERR, und wir heißen nach deinem Namen; verlaß uns nicht!(dhs) Jer 14:9 Why should You be like a man astonished, Like a mighty one who cannot save? Therefore the Lord does not accept them; now He will remember their iniquity and call their sins to account."(nasb) Jer 14:10 οὕτως λέγει κύριος τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ ἠγάπησαν κινεῖν πόδας αὐτῶν καὶ οὐκ ἐφείσαντο καὶ ὁ θεὸς οὐκ εὐδόκησεν ἐν αὐτοῖς νῦν μνησθήσεται τῶν ἀδικιῶν αὐτῶν (lxx) Jer 14:10 Hæc dicit Dominus populo huic, qui dilexit movere pedes suos, et non quievit, et Domino non placuit: Nunc recordabitur iniquitatum eorum, et visitabit peccata eorum.(vulgate) Jer 14:10 So spricht der HERR von diesem Volk: Sie laufen gern hin und wieder und bleiben nicht gern daheim; darum will sie der HERR nicht, sondern er denkt nun an ihre Missetat und will ihre Sünden heimsuchen.(dhs) Jer 14:10 Thus says the Lord to this people: "Thus they have loved to wander; They have not restrained their feet. Therefore the Lord does not accept them; He will remember their iniquity now, And punish their sins."(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:11 ============ Jer 14:11 So the Lord said to me, "Do not pray for the welfare of this people.(nasb) Jer 14:11 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με μὴ προσεύχου περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου εἰς ἀγαθά (lxx) Jer 14:11 Et dixit Dominus ad me: Noli orare pro populo isto in bonum.(vulgate) Jer 14:11 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Du sollst nicht für dies Volk um Gnade bitten.(dhs) Jer 14:11 Then the Lord said to me, "Do not pray for this people, for their good.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:12 ============ Jer 14:12 When they fast, I am not going to listen to their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and grain offering, I am not going to accept them. Rather I am going to make an end of them by the sword, famine and pestilence."(nasb) Jer 14:12 ὅτι ἐὰν νηστεύσωσιν οὐκ εἰσακούσομαι τῆς δεήσεως αὐτῶν καὶ ἐὰν προσενέγκωσιν ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ θυσίας οὐκ εὐδοκήσω ἐν αὐτοῖς ὅτι ἐν μαχαίρᾳ καὶ ἐν λιμῷ καὶ ἐν θανάτῳ ἐγὼ συντελέσω αὐτούς (lxx) Jer 14:12 Cum jejunaverint, non exaudiam preces eorum, et si obtulerint holocautomata et victimas, non suscipiam ea: quoniam gladio, et fame, et peste consumam eos.](vulgate) Jer 14:12 Denn ob sie gleich fasten, so will ich doch ihr Flehen nicht hören; und ob sie Brandopfer und Speisopfer bringen, so gefallen sie mir doch nicht, sondern ich will sie mit Schwert, Hunger und Pestilenz aufreiben.(dhs) Jer 14:12 "When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and grain offering, I will not accept them. But I will consume them by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence."(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:13 ============ Jer 14:13 But," Ah, Lord God!" I said, "Look, the prophets are telling them, 'You will not see the sword nor will you have famine, but I will give you lasting peace in this place.'"(nasb) Jer 14:13 καὶ εἶπα ὦ κύριε ἰδοὺ οἱ προφῆται αὐτῶν προφητεύουσιν καὶ λέγουσιν οὐκ ὄψεσθε μάχαιραν οὐδὲ λιμὸς ἔσται ἐν ὑμῖν ὅτι ἀλήθειαν καὶ εἰρήνην δώσω ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ (lxx) Jer 14:13 Et dixi: [A, a, a, Domine Deus: prophetæ dicunt eis: Non videbitis gladium, et fames non erit in vobis: sed pacem veram dabit vobis in loco isto.](vulgate) Jer 14:13 Da sprach ich: Ach HERR HERR, siehe, die Propheten sagen ihnen: Ihr werdet kein Schwert sehen und keine Teuerung bei euch haben; sondern ich will euch guten Frieden geben an diesem Ort.(dhs) Jer 14:13 Then I said, "Ah, Lord God! Behold, the prophets say to them, 'You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.' "(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:14 ============ Jer 14:14 Then the Lord said to me, "The prophets are prophesying falsehood in My name. I have neither sent them nor commanded them nor spoken to them; they are prophesying to you a false vision, divination, futility and the deception of their own minds.(nasb) Jer 14:14 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με ψευδῆ οἱ προφῆται προφητεύουσιν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου οὐκ ἀπέστειλα αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐκ ἐνετειλάμην αὐτοῖς καὶ οὐκ ἐλάλησα πρὸς αὐτούς ὅτι ὁράσεις ψευδεῖς καὶ μαντείας καὶ οἰωνίσματα καὶ προαιρέσεις καρδίας αὐτῶν αὐτοὶ προφητεύουσιν ὑμῖν (lxx) Jer 14:14 Et dicit Dominus ad me: [Falso prophetæ vaticinantur in nomine meo: non misi eos, et non præcepi eis, neque locutus sum ad eos. Visionem mendacem, et divinationem, et fraudulentiam, et seductionem cordis sui, prophetant vobis.(vulgate) Jer 14:14 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Die Propheten weissagen falsch in meinem Namen; ich habe sie nicht gesandt und ihnen nichts befohlen und nichts mit ihnen geredet. Sie predigen euch falsche Gesichte, Deutungen, Abgötterei und ihres Herzens Trügerei.(dhs) Jer 14:14 And the Lord said to me, "The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:15 ============ Jer 14:15 Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who are prophesying in My name, although it was not I who sent them - yet they keep saying, 'There will be no sword or famine in this land' - by sword and famine those prophets shall meet their end!(nasb) Jer 14:15 διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος περὶ τῶν προφητῶν τῶν προφητευόντων ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου ψευδῆ καὶ ἐγὼ οὐκ ἀπέστειλα αὐτούς οἳ λέγουσιν μάχαιρα καὶ λιμὸς οὐκ ἔσται ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ταύτης ἐν θανάτῳ νοσερῷ ἀποθανοῦνται καὶ ἐν λιμῷ συντελεσθήσονται οἱ προφῆται (lxx) Jer 14:15 Idcirco hæc dicit Dominus de prophetis qui prophetant in nomine meo, quos ego non misi, dicentes: Gladius et fames non erit in terra hac: In gladio et fame consumentur prophetæ illi.(vulgate) Jer 14:15 Darum so spricht der HERR von den Propheten, die in meinem Namen weissagen, so ich sie doch nicht gesandt habe, und die dennoch predigen, es werde kein Schwert und keine Teuerung in dies Land kommen: Solche Propheten sollen sterben durch Schwert und Hunger.(dhs) Jer 14:15 Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, and who say, 'Sword and famine shall not be in this land'--'By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed!(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:16 ============ Jer 14:16 The people also to whom they are prophesying will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and there will be no one to bury them - neither them, nor their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters - for I will pour out their own wickedness on them.(nasb) Jer 14:16 καὶ ὁ λαός οἷς αὐτοὶ προφητεύουσιν αὐτοῖς καὶ ἔσονται ἐρριμμένοι ἐν ταῖς διόδοις Ιερουσαλημ ἀπὸ προσώπου μαχαίρας καὶ τοῦ λιμοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ θάπτων αὐτούς καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες αὐτῶν καὶ ἐκχεῶ ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς τὰ κακὰ αὐτῶν (lxx) Jer 14:16 Et populi quibus prophetant erunt projecti in viis Jerusalem præ fame et gladio, et non erit qui sepeliat eos: ipsi et uxores eorum, filii et filiæ eorum: et effundam super eos malum suum.(vulgate) Jer 14:16 Und die Leute, denen sie weissagen, sollen vom Schwert und Hunger auf den Gassen zu Jerusalem hin und her liegen, daß sie niemand begraben wird, also auch ihre Weiber, Söhne und Töchter; und ich will ihre Bosheit über sie schütten.(dhs) Jer 14:16 And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; they will have no one to bury them--them nor their wives, their sons nor their daughters--for I will pour their wickedness on them.'(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:17 ============ Jer 14:17 "You will say this word to them, 'Let my eyes flow down with tears night and day, And let them not cease; For the virgin daughter of my people has been crushed with a mighty blow, With a sorely infected wound.(nasb) Jer 14:17 καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτοὺς τὸν λόγον τοῦτον καταγάγετε ἐπ᾽ ὀφθαλμοὺς ὑμῶν δάκρυα ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτός καὶ μὴ διαλιπέτωσαν ὅτι συντρίμματι συνετρίβη θυγάτηρ λαοῦ μου καὶ πληγῇ ὀδυνηρᾷ σφόδρα (lxx) Jer 14:17 Et dices ad eos verbum istud: Deducant oculi mei lacrimam per noctem et diem, et non taceant, quoniam contritione magna contrita est virgo filia populi mei, plaga pessima vehementer.(vulgate) Jer 14:17 Und du sollst zu ihnen sagen dies Wort: Meine Augen fließen von Tränen Tag und Nacht und hören nicht auf; denn die Jungfrau, die Tochter meines Volks, ist greulich zerplagt und jämmerlich geschlagen.(dhs) Jer 14:17 "Therefore you shall say this word to them: 'Let my eyes flow with tears night and day, And let them not cease; For the virgin daughter of my people Has been broken with a mighty stroke, with a very severe blow.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:18 ============ Jer 14:18 'If I go out to the country, Behold, those slain with the sword! Or if I enter the city, Behold, diseases of famine! For both prophet and priest Have gone roving about in the land that they do not know.'"(nasb) Jer 14:18 ἐὰν ἐξέλθω εἰς τὸ πεδίον καὶ ἰδοὺ τραυματίαι μαχαίρας καὶ ἐὰν εἰσέλθω εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἰδοὺ πόνος λιμοῦ ὅτι ἱερεὺς καὶ προφήτης ἐπορεύθησαν εἰς γῆν ἣν οὐκ ᾔδεισαν (lxx) Jer 14:18 Si egressus fuero ad agros, ecce occisi gladio: et si introiero in civitatem, ecce attenuati fame. Propheta quoque et sacerdos abierunt in terram quam ignorabant.(vulgate) Jer 14:18 Gehe ich hinaus aufs Feld, siehe, so liegen da Erschlagene mit dem Schwert; komme ich in die Stadt, so liegen da vor Hunger Verschmachtete. Denn es müssen auch die Propheten, dazu auch die Priester in ein Land ziehen, das sie nicht kennen.(dhs) Jer 14:18 If I go out to the field, Then behold, those slain with the sword! And if I enter the city, Then behold, those sick from famine! Yes, both prophet and priest go about in a land they do not know.' "(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:19 ============ Jer 14:19 Have You completely rejected Judah? Or have You loathed Zion? Why have You stricken us so that we are beyond healing? We waited for peace, but nothing good came; And for a time of healing, but behold, terror!(nasb) Jer 14:19 μὴ ἀποδοκιμάζων ἀπεδοκίμασας τὸν Ιουδαν καὶ ἀπὸ Σιων ἀπέστη ἡ ψυχή σου ἵνα τί ἔπαισας ἡμᾶς καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἡμῖν ἴασις ὑπεμείναμεν εἰς εἰρήνην καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἀγαθά εἰς καιρὸν ἰάσεως καὶ ἰδοὺ ταραχή (lxx) Jer 14:19 Numquid projiciens abjecisti Judam? aut Sion abominata est anima tua? quare ergo percussisti nos ita ut nulla sit sanitas? Exspectavimus pacem, et non est bonum: et tempus curationis, et ecce turbatio.(vulgate) Jer 14:19 Hast du denn Juda verworfen, oder hat deine Seele einen Ekel an Zion? Warum hast du uns denn so geschlagen, daß es niemand heilen kann? Wir hofften, es sollte Friede werden; so kommt nichts Gutes. Wir hofften, wir sollten heil werden; aber siehe, so ist mehr Schaden da.(dhs) Jer 14:19 Have You utterly rejected Judah? Has Your soul loathed Zion? Why have You stricken us so that there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but there was no good; And for the time of healing, and there was trouble.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:20 ============ Jer 14:20 We know our wickedness, O Lord, The iniquity of our fathers, for we have sinned against You.(nasb) Jer 14:20 ἔγνωμεν κύριε ἁμαρτήματα ἡμῶν ἀδικίας πατέρων ἡμῶν ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν ἐναντίον σου (lxx) Jer 14:20 Cognovimus, Domine, impietates nostras, iniquitates patrum nostrorum, quia peccavimus tibi.(vulgate) Jer 14:20 HERR, wir erkennen unser gottlos Wesen und unsrer Väter Missetat; denn wir haben wider dich gesündigt.(dhs) Jer 14:20 We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness And the iniquity of our fathers, For we have sinned against You.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:21 ============ Jer 14:21 Do not despise us, for Your own name's sake; Do not disgrace the throne of Your glory; Remember and do not annul Your covenant with us.(nasb) Jer 14:21 κόπασον διὰ τὸ ὄνομά σου μὴ ἀπολέσῃς θρόνον δόξης σου μνήσθητι μὴ διασκεδάσῃς τὴν διαθήκην σου τὴν μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν (lxx) Jer 14:21 Ne des nos in opprobrium, propter nomen tuum, neque facias nobis contumeliam solii gloriæ tuæ: recordare, ne irritum facias fœdus tuum nobiscum.(vulgate) Jer 14:21 Aber um deines Namens willen laß uns nicht geschändet werden; laß den Thron deiner Herrlichkeit nicht verspottet werden; gedenke doch und laß deinen Bund mit uns nicht aufhören.(dhs) Jer 14:21 Do not abhor us, for Your name's sake; Do not disgrace the throne of Your glory. Remember, do not break Your covenant with us.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 14:22 ============ Jer 14:22 Are there any among the idols of the nations who give rain? Or can the heavens grant showers? Is it not You, O Lord our God?
