Give me property for a burial place among you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:5 ============ Gen 23:5 The sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,(nasb) Gen 23:5 Responderunt filii Heth, dicentes:(vulgate) Génesis 23:5 Y respondieron los hijos de Het a Abraham, y le dijeron:(E) Genèse 23:5 Les fils de Heth répondirent à Abraham, en lui disant:(F) Gen 23:5 Da antworteten Abraham die Kinder Heth und sprachen zu ihm:(D) Gen 23:5 ἀπεκρίθησαν δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Χετ πρὸς Αβρααμ λέγοντες(lxx) Gen 23:5 And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:6 ============ Gen 23:6 "Hear us, my lord, you are a mighty prince among us; bury your dead in the choicest of our graves; none of us will refuse you his grave for burying your dead."(nasb) Gen 23:6 Audi nos, domine: princeps Dei es apud nos: in electis sepulchris nostris sepeli mortuum tuum, nullusque te prohibere poterit quin in monumento ejus sepelias mortuum tuum.(vulgate) Génesis 23:6 Escúchanos, señor mío, eres un príncipe de Dios entre nosotros; en lo mejor de nuestras sepulturas sepulta a tu muerta; ninguno de nosotros te impedirá su sepultura, para que entierres tu muerta.(E) Genèse 23:6 Ecoute-nous, mon seigneur! Tu es un prince de Dieu au milieu de nous; enterre ton mort dans celui de nos sépulcres que tu choisiras; aucun de nous ne te refusera son sépulcre pour enterrer ton mort.(F) Gen 23:6 Höre uns, lieber Herr! Du bist ein Fürst Gottes unter uns, begrabe deinen Toten in unsern vornehmsten Gräbern; kein Mensch soll dir unter uns wehren, daß du in seinem Grabe begrabest deinen Toten.(D) Gen 23:6 μή κύριε ἄκουσον δὲ ἡμῶν βασιλεὺς παρὰ θεοῦ εἶ σὺ ἐν ἡμῖν ἐν τοῖς ἐκλεκτοῖς μνημείοις ἡμῶν θάψον τὸν νεκρόν σου οὐδεὶς γὰρ ἡμῶν τὸ μνημεῖον αὐτοῦ κωλύσει ἀπὸ σοῦ τοῦ θάψαι τὸν νεκρόν σου ἐκεῖ(lxx) Gen 23:6 "Hear us, my lord: You are a mighty prince among us; bury your dead in the choicest of our burial places. None of us will withhold from you his burial place, that you may bury your dead."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:7 ============ Gen 23:7 So Abraham rose and bowed to the people of the land, the sons of Heth.(nasb) Gen 23:7 Surrexit Abraham, et adoravit populum terræ, filios videlicet Heth:(vulgate) Génesis 23:7 Y Abraham se levantó, y se inclinó al pueblo de aquella tierra, a los hijos de Het;(E) Genèse 23:7 Abraham se leva, et se prosterna devant le peuple du pays, devant les fils de Heth.(F) Gen 23:7 Da stand Abraham auf und bückte sich vor dem Volk des Landes, vor den Kindern Heth.(D) Gen 23:7 ἀναστὰς δὲ Αβρααμ προσεκύνησεν τῷ λαῷ τῆς γῆς τοῖς υἱοῖς Χετ(lxx) Gen 23:7 Then Abraham stood up and bowed himself to the people of the land, the sons of Heth.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:8 ============ Gen 23:8 And he spoke with them, saying, "If it is your wish for me to bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and approach Ephron the son of Zohar for me,(nasb) Gen 23:8 dixitque ad eos: Si placet animæ vestræ ut sepeliam mortuum meum, audite me, et intercedite pro me apud Ephron filium Seor:(vulgate) Génesis 23:8 Y habló con ellos, diciendo: Si tenéis voluntad que yo sepulte mi muerta de delante de mí, oídme, e interceded por mí con Efrón, hijo de Zoar,(E) Genèse 23:8 Et il leur parla ainsi: Si vous permettez que j'enterre mon mort et que je l'ôte de devant mes yeux, écoutez-moi, et priez pour moi Ephron, fils de Tsochar,(F) Gen 23:8 Und er redete mit ihnen und sprach: Gefällt es euch, daß ich meinen Toten, der vor mir liegt, begrabe, so hört mich und bittet für mich Ephron, den Sohn Zohars,(D) Gen 23:8 καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Αβρααμ λέγων εἰ ἔχετε τῇ ψυχῇ ὑμῶν ὥστε θάψαι τὸν νεκρόν μου ἀπὸ προσώπου μου ἀκούσατέ μου καὶ λαλήσατε περὶ ἐμοῦ Εφρων τῷ τοῦ Σααρ(lxx) Gen 23:8 And he spoke with them, saying, "If it is your wish that I bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and meet with Ephron the son of Zohar for me,(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:9 ============ Gen 23:9 that he may give me the cave of Machpelah which he owns, which is at the end of his field; for the full price let him give it to me in your presence for a burial site."(nasb) Gen 23:9 ut det mihi speluncam duplicem, quam habet in extrema parte agri sui: pecunia digna tradat eam mihi coram vobis in possessionem sepulchri.(vulgate) Génesis 23:9 para que me dé la cueva de Macpela, que tiene al cabo de su heredad; que por su justo precio me la dé, para posesión de sepultura en medio de vosotros.(E) Genèse 23:9 de me céder la caverne de Macpéla, qui lui appartient, à l'extrémité de son champ, de me la céder contre sa valeur en argent, afin qu'elle me serve de possession sépulcrale au milieu de vous.(F) Gen 23:9 daß er mir gebe seine zwiefache Höhle, die er hat am Ende seines Ackers; er gebe sie mir um Geld, soviel sie wert ist, unter euch zum Erbbegräbnis.(D) Gen 23:9 καὶ δότω μοι τὸ σπήλαιον τὸ διπλοῦν ὅ ἐστιν αὐτῷ τὸ ὂν ἐν μέρει τοῦ ἀγροῦ αὐτοῦ ἀργυρίου τοῦ ἀξίου δότω μοι αὐτὸ ἐν ὑμῖν εἰς κτῆσιν μνημείου(lxx) Gen 23:9 that he may give me the cave of Machpelah which he has, which is at the end of his field. Let him give it to me at the full price, as property for a burial place among you."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:10 ============ Gen 23:10 Now Ephron was sitting among the sons of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the sons of Heth; even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,(nasb) Gen 23:10 Habitabat autem Ephron in medio filiorum Heth. Responditque Ephron ad Abraham, cunctis audientibus qui ingrediebantur portam civitatis illius, dicens:(vulgate) Génesis 23:10 Este Efrón se hallaba entre los hijos de Het: y respondió Efrón heteo a Abraham, en oídos de los hijos de Het, de todos los que entraban por la puerta de su ciudad, diciendo:(E) Genèse 23:10 Ephron était assis parmi les fils de Heth. Et Ephron, le Héthien, répondit à Abraham, en présence des fils de Heth et de tous ceux qui entraient par la porte de sa ville:(F) Gen 23:10 Ephron aber saß unter den Kindern Heth. Da antwortete Ephron, der Hethiter, Abraham, daß zuhörten die Kinder Heth, vor allen, die zu seiner Stadt Tor aus und ein gingen, und sprach:(D) Gen 23:10 Εφρων δὲ ἐκάθητο ἐν μέσῳ τῶν υἱῶν Χετ ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Εφρων ὁ Χετταῖος πρὸς Αβρααμ εἶπεν ἀκουόντων τῶν υἱῶν Χετ καὶ πάντων τῶν εἰσπορευομένων εἰς τὴν πόλιν λέγων(lxx) Gen 23:10 Now Ephron dwelt among the sons of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the presence of the sons of Heth, all who entered at the gate of his city, saying,(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:11 ============ Gen 23:11 "No, my lord, hear me; I give you the field, and I give you the cave that is in it. In the presence of the sons of my people I give it to you; bury your dead."(nasb) Gen 23:11 Nequaquam ita fiat, domine mi, sed tu magis ausculta quod loquor. Agrum trado tibi, et speluncam quæ in eo est, præsentibus filiis populi mei; sepeli mortuum tuum.(vulgate) Génesis 23:11 No, señor mío, óyeme: te doy la heredad, y te doy también la cueva que está en ella; delante de los hijos de mi pueblo te la doy; sepulta tu muerta.(E) Genèse 23:11 Non, mon seigneur, écoute-moi! Je te donne le champ, et je te donne la caverne qui y est. Je te les donne, aux yeux des fils de mon peuple: enterre ton mort.(F) Gen 23:11 Nein, mein Herr, sondern höre mir zu! Ich schenke dir den Acker und die Höhle darin dazu und übergebe dir's vor den Augen der Kinder meines Volkes, zu begraben deinen Toten.(D) Gen 23:11 παρ᾽ ἐμοὶ γενοῦ κύριε καὶ ἄκουσόν μου τὸν ἀγρὸν καὶ τὸ σπήλαιον τὸ ἐν αὐτῷ σοι δίδωμι ἐναντίον πάντων τῶν πολιτῶν μου δέδωκά σοι θάψον τὸν νεκρόν σου(lxx) Gen 23:11 "No, my lord, hear me: I give you the field and the cave that is in it; I give it to you in the presence of the sons of my people. I give it to you. Bury your dead!"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:12 ============ Gen 23:12 And Abraham bowed before the people of the land.(nasb) Gen 23:12 Adoravit Abraham coram populo terræ.(vulgate) Génesis 23:12 Y Abraham se inclinó delante del pueblo de la tierra.(E) Genèse 23:12 Abraham se prosterna devant le peuple du pays.(F) Gen 23:12 Da bückte sich Abraham vor dem Volk des Landes(D) Gen 23:12 καὶ προσεκύνησεν Αβρααμ ἐναντίον τοῦ λαοῦ τῆς γῆς(lxx) Gen 23:12 Then Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land;(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:13 ============ Gen 23:13 He spoke to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, saying, "If you will only please listen to me; I will give the price of the field, accept it from me that I may bury my dead there."(nasb) Gen 23:13 Et locutus est ad Ephron circumstante plebe: Quæso ut audias me: dabo pecuniam pro agro: suscipe eam, et sic sepeliam mortuum meum in eo.(vulgate) Génesis 23:13 Y respondió a Efrón en oídos del pueblo de la tierra, diciendo: Antes, si te place, te ruego que me oigas; yo daré el precio de la heredad, tómalo de mí, y sepultaré en ella mi muerta.(E) Genèse 23:13 Et il parla ainsi à Ephron, en présence du peuple du pays: Ecoute-moi, je te prie! Je donne le prix du champ: accepte-le de moi; et j'y enterrerai mon mort.(F) Gen 23:13 und redete mit Ephron, daß zuhörte das Volk des Landes, und sprach: Willst du mir ihn lassen, so bitte ich, nimm von mir das Geld für den Acker, das ich dir gebe, so will ich meinen Toten daselbst begraben.(D) Gen 23:13 καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Εφρων εἰς τὰ ὦτα τοῦ λαοῦ τῆς γῆς ἐπειδὴ πρὸς ἐμοῦ εἶ ἄκουσόν μου τὸ ἀργύριον τοῦ ἀγροῦ λαβὲ παρ᾽ ἐμοῦ καὶ θάψω τὸν νεκρόν μου ἐκεῖ(lxx) Gen 23:13 and he spoke to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, saying, "If you will give it, please hear me. So bury your dead."(nasb) Gen 23:15 Domine mi, audi me: terra, quam postulas, quadringentis siclis argenti valet: istud est pretium inter me et te: sed quantum est hoc? sepeli mortuum tuum.(vulgate) Génesis 23:15 Señor mío, escúchame: la tierra [vale] cuatrocientos siclos de plata; ¿qué es esto entre tú y yo? What is that between you and me? So bury your dead."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:16 ============ Gen 23:16 Abraham listened to Ephron; and Abraham weighed out for Ephron the silver which he had named in the hearing of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, commercial standard.(nasb) Gen 23:16 Quod cum audisset Abraham, appendit pecuniam, quam Ephron postulaverat, audientibus filiis Heth, quadringentos siclos argenti probatæ monetæ publicæ.(vulgate) Génesis 23:16 Entonces Abraham se convino con Efrón, y pesó Abraham a Efrón el dinero que dijo, oyéndolo los hijos de Het, cuatrocientos siclos de plata, de buena ley entre mercaderes.(E) Genèse 23:16 Abraham comprit Ephron; et Abraham pesa à Ephron l'argent qu'il avait dit, en présence des fils de Heth, quatre cents sicles d'argent ayant cours chez le marchand.(F) Gen 23:16 Abraham gehorchte Ephron und wog ihm das Geld dar, das er gesagt hatte, daß zuhörten die Kinder Heth, vierhundert Lot Silber, das im Kauf gang und gäbe war.(D) Gen 23:16 καὶ ἤκουσεν Αβρααμ τοῦ Εφρων καὶ ἀπεκατέστησεν Αβρααμ τῷ Εφρων τὸ ἀργύριον ὃ ἐλάλησεν εἰς τὰ ὦτα τῶν υἱῶν Χετ τετρακόσια δίδραχμα ἀργυρίου δοκίμου ἐμπόροις(lxx) Gen 23:16 And Abraham listened to Ephron; and Abraham weighed out the silver for Ephron which he had named in the hearing of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, currency of the merchants.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:17 ============ Gen 23:17 So Ephron's field, which was in Machpelah, which faced Mamre, the field and cave which was in it, and all the trees which were in the field, that were within all the confines of its border, were deeded over(nasb) Gen 23:17 Confirmatusque est ager quondam Ephronis, in quo erat spelunca duplex, respiciens Mambre, tam ipse, quam spelunca, et omnes arbores ejus in cunctis terminis ejus per circuitum,(vulgate) Génesis 23:17 Y la heredad de Efrón que estaba en Macpela enfrente de Mamre, la heredad y la cueva que estaban en ella, y todos los árboles que había en la heredad, y en todo su término al derredor, quedaron asegurados(E) Genèse 23:17 Le champ d'Ephron à Macpéla, vis-à-vis de Mamré, le champ et la caverne qui y est, et tous les arbres qui sont dans le champ et dans toutes ses limites alentour,(F) Gen 23:17 Also ward Ephrons Acker, darin die zwiefache Höhle ist, Mamre gegenüber, Abraham zum eigenen Gut bestätigt mit der Höhle darin und mit allen Bäumen auf dem Acker umher,(D) Gen 23:17 καὶ ἔστη ὁ ἀγρὸς Εφρων ὃς ἦν ἐν τῷ διπλῷ σπηλαίῳ ὅς ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον Μαμβρη ὁ ἀγρὸς καὶ τὸ σπήλαιον ὃ ἦν ἐν αὐτῷ καὶ πᾶν δένδρον ὃ ἦν ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ ὅ ἐστιν ἐν τοῖς ὁρίοις αὐτοῦ κύκλῳ(lxx) Gen 23:17 So the field of Ephron which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, which were within all the surrounding borders, were deeded(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:18 ============ Gen 23:18 to Abraham for a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.(nasb) Gen 23:18 Abrahæ in possessionem, videntibus filiis Heth, et cunctis qui intrabant portam civitatis illius.(vulgate) Génesis 23:18 a Abraham en posesión, a vista de los hijos de Het, y de todos los que entraban por la puerta de la ciudad.(E) Genèse 23:18 devinrent ainsi la propriété d'Abraham, aux yeux des fils de Heth et de tous ceux qui entraient par la porte de sa ville.(F) Gen 23:18 daß die Kinder Heth zusahen und alle, die zu seiner Stadt Tor aus und ein gingen.(D) Gen 23:18 τῷ Αβρααμ εἰς κτῆσιν ἐναντίον τῶν υἱῶν Χετ καὶ πάντων τῶν εἰσπορευομένων εἰς τὴν πόλιν(lxx) Gen 23:18 to Abraham as a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 23:19 ============ Gen 23:19 After this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field at Machpelah facing Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan.(nasb) Gen 23:19 Atque ita sepelivit Abraham Saram uxorem suam in spelunca agri duplici, quæ respiciebat Mambre.
