Today's Date: ======= Genesis 21:1 ============ Gen 21:1 Then the Lord took note of Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had promised.(nas) Gen 21:1 καὶ κύριος ἐπεσκέψατο τὴν Σαρραν καθὰ εἶπεν καὶ ἐποίησεν κύριος τῇ Σαρρα καθὰ ἐλάλησεν (lxx) Gen 21:1 Visitavit autem Dominus Saram, sicut promiserat: et implevit quæ locutus est.(vulgate) 1 ׃21 וֽ͏ַיהוָ֛ה פָּקַ֥ד אֶת־שָׂרָ֖ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמָ֑ר וַיַּ֧עַשׂ יְהוָ֛ה לְשָׂרָ֖ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֵּֽר׃ Genesis Gen 21:1 Und der HERR suchte heim Sara, wie er geredet hatte, und tat mit ihr, wie er geredet hatte.(dhs) Gen 21:1 And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:2 ============ Gen 21:2 So Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him.(nas) Gen 21:2 καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτεκεν Σαρρα τῷ Αβρααμ υἱὸν εἰς τὸ γῆρας εἰς τὸν καιρόν καθὰ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ κύριος (lxx) Gen 21:2 Concepitque et peperit filium in senectute sua, tempore quo prædixerat ei Deus.(vulgate) 2 ׃21 וַתַּהַר֩ וַתֵּ֨לֶד שָׂרָ֧ה לְאַבְרָהָ֛ם בֵּ֖ן לִזְקֻנָ֑יו לַמּוֹעֵ֕ד אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּ֥ר אֹת֖וֹ אֱלֹהִֽים׃ Genesis Gen 21:2 Und Sara ward schwanger und gebar Abraham einen Sohn in seinem Alter um die Zeit, von der ihm Gott geredet hatte.(dhs) Gen 21:2 For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:3 ============ Gen 21:3 Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.(nas) Gen 21:3 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αβρααμ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ τοῦ γενομένου αὐτῷ ὃν ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ Σαρρα Ισαακ (lxx) Gen 21:3 Vocavitque Abraham nomen filii sui, quem genuit ei Sara, Isaac:(vulgate) 3 ׃21 וַיִּקְרָ֨א אַבְרָהָ֜ם אֶֽת־שֶׁם־בְּנ֧וֹ הַנּֽוֹלַד־ל֛וֹ אֲשֶׁר־יָלְדָה־לּ֥וֹ שָׂרָ֖ה יִצְחָֽק׃ Genesis Gen 21:3 Und Abraham hieß seinen Sohn, der ihm geboren war, Isaak, den ihm Sara gebar,(dhs) Gen 21:3 And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him--whom Sarah bore to him--Isaac.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:4 ============ Gen 21:4 Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.(nas) Gen 21:4 περιέτεμεν δὲ Αβρααμ τὸν Ισαακ τῇ ὀγδόῃ ἡμέρᾳ καθὰ ἐνετείλατο αὐτῷ ὁ θεός (lxx) Gen 21:4 et circumcidit eum octavo die, sicut præceperat ei Deus,(vulgate) 4 ׃21 וַיָּ֤מָל אַבְרָהָם֙ אֶת־יִצְחָ֣ק בְּנ֔וֹ בֶּן־שְׁמֹנַ֖ת יָמִ֑ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה אֹת֖וֹ אֱלֹהִֽים׃ Genesis Gen 21:4 und beschnitt ihn am achten Tage, wie ihm Gott geboten hatte.(dhs) Gen 21:4 Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:5 ============ Gen 21:5 Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.(nas) Gen 21:5 Αβρααμ δὲ ἦν ἑκατὸν ἐτῶν ἡνίκα ἐγένετο αὐτῷ Ισαακ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 21:5 cum centum esset annorum: hac quippe ætate patris, natus est Isaac.(vulgate) 5 ׃21 וְאַבְרָהָ֖ם בֶּן־מְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה בְּהִוָּ֣לֶד ל֔וֹ אֵ֖ת יִצְחָ֥ק בְּנֽוֹ׃ Genesis Gen 21:5 Hundert Jahre war Abraham alt, da ihm sein Sohn Isaak geboren ward.(dhs) Gen 21:5 Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:6 ============ Gen 21:6 Sarah said, "God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me."(nas) Gen 21:6 εἶπεν δὲ Σαρρα γέλωτά μοι ἐποίησεν κύριος ὃς γὰρ ἂν ἀκούσῃ συγχαρεῖταί μοι (lxx) Gen 21:6 Dixitque Sara: Risum fecit mihi Deus: quicumque audierit, corridebit mihi.(vulgate) 6 ׃21 וַתֹּ֣אמֶר שָׂרָ֔ה צְחֹ֕ק עָ֥שָׂה לִ֖י אֱלֹהִ֑ים כָּל־הַשֹּׁמֵ֖עַ יִֽצְחַק־לִֽי׃ Genesis Gen 21:6 Und Sara sprach: Gott hat mir ein Lachen zugerichtet; denn wer es hören wird, der wird über mich lachen,(dhs) Gen 21:6 And Sarah said, "God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:7 ============ Gen 21:7 And she said, "Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age."(nas) Gen 21:7 καὶ εἶπεν τίς ἀναγγελεῖ τῷ Αβρααμ ὅτι θηλάζει παιδίον Σαρρα ὅτι ἔτεκον υἱὸν ἐν τῷ γήρει μου (lxx) Gen 21:7 Rursumque ait: Quis auditurus crederet Abraham quod Sara lactaret filium, quem peperit et jam seni?(vulgate) 7 ׃21 וַתֹּ֗אמֶר מִ֤י מִלֵּל֙ לְאַבְרָהָ֔ם הֵינִ֥יקָה בָנִ֖ים שָׂרָ֑ה כִּֽי־יָלַ֥דְתִּי בֵ֖ן לִזְקֻנָֽיו׃ Genesis Gen 21:7 und sprach: Wer durfte von Abraham sagen, daß Sara Kinder säuge? Denn ich habe ihm einen Sohn geboren in seinem Alter.(dhs) Gen 21:7 She also said, "Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:8 ============ Gen 21:8 The child grew and was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.(nas) Gen 21:8 καὶ ηὐξήθη τὸ παιδίον καὶ ἀπεγαλακτίσθη καὶ ἐποίησεν Αβρααμ δοχὴν μεγάλην ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ἀπεγαλακτίσθη Ισαακ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 21:8 Crevit igitur puer, et ablactatus est: fecitque Abraham grande convivium in die ablactationis ejus.~(vulgate) 8 ׃21 וַיִּגְדַּ֥ל הַיֶּ֖לֶד וַיִּגָּמַ֑ל וַיַּ֤עַשׂ אַבְרָהָם֙ מִשְׁתֶּ֣ה גָד֔וֹל בְּי֖וֹם הִגָּמֵ֥ל אֶת־יִצְחָֽק׃ Genesis Gen 21:8 Und das Kind wuchs und ward entwöhnt; und Abraham machte ein großes Mahl am Tage, da Isaak entwöhnt ward.(dhs) Gen 21:8 So the child grew and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the same day that Isaac was weaned.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:9 ============ Gen 21:9 Now Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.(nas) Gen 21:9 ἰδοῦσα δὲ Σαρρα τὸν υἱὸν Αγαρ τῆς Αἰγυπτίας ὃς ἐγένετο τῷ Αβρααμ παίζοντα μετὰ Ισαακ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς (lxx) Gen 21:9 Cumque vidisset Sara filium Agar Ægyptiæ ludentem cum Isaac filio suo, dixit ad Abraham:(vulgate) 9 ׃21 וַתֵּ֨רֶא שָׂרָ֜ה אֶֽת־בֶּן־הָגָ֧ר הַמִּצְרִ֛ית אֲשֶׁר־יָלְדָ֥ה לְאַבְרָהָ֖ם מְצַחֵֽק׃ Genesis Gen 21:9 Und Sara sah den Sohn Hagars, der Ägyptischen, den sie Abraham geboren hatte, daß er ein Spötter war,(dhs) Gen 21:9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, scoffing.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:10 ============ Gen 21:10 Therefore she said to Abraham, "Drive out this maid and her son, for the son of this maid shall not be an heir with my son Isaac."(nas) Gen 21:10 καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Αβρααμ ἔκβαλε τὴν παιδίσκην ταύτην καὶ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς οὐ γὰρ κληρονομήσει ὁ υἱὸς τῆς παιδίσκης ταύτης μετὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ μου Ισαακ (lxx) Gen 21:10 Ejice ancillam hanc, et filium ejus: non enim erit hæres filius ancillæ cum filio meo Isaac.(vulgate) 10 ׃21 וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לְאַבְרָהָ֔ם גָּרֵ֛שׁ הָאָמָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את וְאֶת־בְּנָ֑הּ כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יִירַשׁ֙ בֶּן־הָאָמָ֣ה הַזֹּ֔את עִם־בְּנִ֖י עִם־יִצְחָֽק׃ Genesis Gen 21:10 und sprach zu Abraham: Treibe diese Magd aus mit ihrem Sohn; denn dieser Magd Sohn soll nicht erben mit meinem Sohn Isaak.(dhs) Gen 21:10 Therefore she said to Abraham, "Cast out this bondwoman and her son; for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, namely with Isaac."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:11 ============ Gen 21:11 The matter distressed Abraham greatly because of his son.(nas) Gen 21:11 σκληρὸν δὲ ἐφάνη τὸ ῥῆμα σφόδρα ἐναντίον Αβρααμ περὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 21:11 Dure accepit hoc Abraham pro filio suo.(vulgate) 11 ׃21 וַיֵּ֧רַע הַדָּבָ֛ר מְאֹ֖ד בְּעֵינֵ֣י אַבְרָהָ֑ם עַ֖ל אוֹדֹ֥ת בְּנֽוֹ׃ Genesis Gen 21:11 Das Wort gefiel Abraham sehr übel um seines Sohnes willen.(dhs) Gen 21:11 And the matter was very displeasing in Abraham's sight because of his son.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:12 ============ Gen 21:12 But God said to Abraham, "Do not be distressed because of the lad and your maid; whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her, for through Isaac your descendants shall be named.(nas) Gen 21:12 εἶπεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς τῷ Αβρααμ μὴ σκληρὸν ἔστω τὸ ῥῆμα ἐναντίον σου περὶ τοῦ παιδίου καὶ περὶ τῆς παιδίσκης πάντα ὅσα ἐὰν εἴπῃ σοι Σαρρα ἄκουε τῆς φωνῆς αὐτῆς ὅτι ἐν Ισαακ κληθήσεταί σοι σπέρμα (lxx) Gen 21:12 Cui dixit Deus: Non tibi videatur asperum super puero, et super ancilla tua: omnia quæ dixerit tibi Sara, audi vocem ejus: quia in Isaac vocabitur tibi semen.(vulgate) 12 ׃21 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֜ים אֶל־אַבְרָהָ֗ם אַל־יֵרַ֤ע בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ עַל־הַנַּ֣עַר וְעַל־אֲמָתֶ֔ךָ כֹּל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר תֹּאמַ֥ר אֵלֶ֛יךָ שָׂרָ֖ה שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלָ֑הּ כִּ֣י בְיִצְחָ֔ק יִקָּרֵ֥א לְךָ֖ זָֽרַע׃ Genesis Gen 21:12 Aber Gott sprach zu ihm: Laß dir's nicht übel gefallen des Knaben und der Magd halben. Alles, was Sara dir gesagt hat, dem gehorche; denn in Isaak soll dir der Same genannt werden.(dhs) Gen 21:12 But God said to Abraham, "Do not let it be displeasing in your sight because of the lad or because of your bondwoman. Whatever Sarah has said to you, listen to her voice; for in Isaac your seed shall be called.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:13 ============ Gen 21:13 And of the son of the maid I will make a nation also, because he is your descendant."(nas) Gen 21:13 καὶ τὸν υἱὸν δὲ τῆς παιδίσκης ταύτης εἰς ἔθνος μέγα ποιήσω αὐτόν ὅτι σπέρμα σόν ἐστιν (lxx) Gen 21:13 Sed et filium ancillæ faciam in gentem magnam, quia semen tuum est.(vulgate) 13 ׃21 וְגַ֥ם אֶת־בֶּן־הָאָמָ֖ה לְג֣וֹי אֲשִׂימֶ֑נּוּ כִּ֥י זַרְעֲךָ֖ הֽוּא׃ Genesis Gen 21:13 Auch will ich der Magd Sohn zum Volk machen, darum daß er deines Samens ist.(dhs) Gen 21:13 Yet I will also make a nation of the son of the bondwoman, because he is your seed."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:14 ============ Gen 21:14 So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulder, and gave her the boy, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered about in the wilderness of Beersheba.(nas) Gen 21:14 ἀνέστη δὲ Αβρααμ τὸ πρωὶ καὶ ἔλαβεν ἄρτους καὶ ἀσκὸν ὕδατος καὶ ἔδωκεν Αγαρ καὶ ἐπέθηκεν ἐπὶ τὸν ὦμον καὶ τὸ παιδίον καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτήν ἀπελθοῦσα δὲ ἐπλανᾶτο τὴν ἔρημον κατὰ τὸ φρέαρ τοῦ ὅρκου (lxx) Gen 21:14 Surrexit itaque Abraham mane, et tollens panem et utrem aquæ, imposuit scapulæ ejus, tradiditque puerum, et dimisit eam. Quæ cum abiisset, errabat in solitudine Bersabee.(vulgate) 14 ׃21 וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֣ם אַבְרָהָ֣ם ׀ בַּבֹּ֡קֶר וַיִּֽקַּֽח־לֶחֶם֩ וְחֵ֨מַת מַ֜יִם וַיִּתֵּ֣ן אֶל־הָ֠גָר שָׂ֧ם עַל־שִׁכְמָ֛הּ וְאֶת־הַיֶּ֖לֶד וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֶ֑הָ וַתֵּ֣לֶךְ וַתֵּ֔תַע בְּמִדְבַּ֖ר בְּאֵ֥ר שָֽׁבַע׃ Genesis Gen 21:14 Da stand Abraham des Morgens früh auf und nahm Brot und einen Schlauch mit Wasser und legte es Hagar auf ihre Schulter und den Knaben mit und ließ sie von sich. Da zog sie hin und ging in der Wüste irre bei Beer-Seba.(dhs) Gen 21:14 So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a skin of water; and putting it on her shoulder, he gave it and the boy to Hagar, and sent her away. Then she departed and wandered in the Wilderness of Beersheba.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:15 ============ Gen 21:15 When the water in the skin was used up, she left the boy under one of the bushes.(nas) Gen 21:15 ἐξέλιπεν δὲ τὸ ὕδωρ ἐκ τοῦ ἀσκοῦ καὶ ἔρριψεν τὸ παιδίον ὑποκάτω μιᾶς ἐλάτης (lxx) Gen 21:15 Cumque consumpta esset aqua in utre, abjecit puerum subter unam arborum, quæ ibi erant.(vulgate) 15 ׃21 וַיִּכְל֥וּ הַמַּ֖יִם מִן־הַחֵ֑מֶת וַתַּשְׁלֵ֣ךְ אֶת־הַיֶּ֔לֶד תַּ֖חַת אַחַ֥ד הַשִּׂיחִֽם׃ Genesis Gen 21:15 Da nun das Wasser in dem Schlauch aus war, warf sie den Knaben unter einen Strauch(dhs) Gen 21:15 And the water in the skin was used up, and she placed the boy under one of the shrubs.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:16 ============ Gen 21:16 Then she went and sat down opposite him, about a bowshot away, for she said, "Do not let me see the boy die." And she sat opposite him, and lifted up her voice and wept.(nas) Gen 21:16 ἀπελθοῦσα δὲ ἐκάθητο ἀπέναντι αὐτοῦ μακρόθεν ὡσεὶ τόξου βολήν εἶπεν γάρ οὐ μὴ ἴδω τὸν θάνατον τοῦ παιδίου μου καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἀπέναντι αὐτοῦ ἀναβοῆσαν δὲ τὸ παιδίον ἔκλαυσεν (lxx) Gen 21:16 Et abiit, seditque e regione procul quantum potest arcus jacere: dixit enim: Non videbo morientem puerum: et sedens contra, levavit vocem suam et flevit.(vulgate) 16 ׃21 וַתֵּלֶךְ֩ וַתֵּ֨שֶׁב לָ֜הּ מִנֶּ֗גֶד הַרְחֵק֙ כִּמְטַחֲוֵ֣י קֶ֔שֶׁת כִּ֣י אֽ͏ָמְרָ֔ה אַל־אֶרְאֶ֖ה בְּמ֣וֹת הַיָּ֑לֶד וַתֵּ֣שֶׁב מִנֶּ֔גֶד וַתִּשָּׂ֥א אֶת־קֹלָ֖הּ וַתֵּֽבְךְּ׃ Genesis Gen 21:16 und ging hin und setzte sich gegenüber von fern, einen Bogenschuß weit; denn sie sprach: Ich kann nicht ansehen des Knaben Sterben. Und sie setzte sich gegenüber und hob ihre Stimme auf und weinte.(dhs) Gen 21:16 Then she went and sat down across from him at a distance of about a bowshot; for she said to herself, "Let me not see the death of the boy." So she sat opposite him, and lifted her voice and wept.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:17 ============ Gen 21:17 God heard the lad crying; and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What is the matter with you, Hagar? Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.(nas) Gen 21:17 εἰσήκουσεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς τῆς φωνῆς τοῦ παιδίου ἐκ τοῦ τόπου οὗ ἦν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ἄγγελος τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν Αγαρ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ τί ἐστιν Αγαρ μὴ φοβοῦ ἐπακήκοεν γὰρ ὁ θεὸς τῆς φωνῆς τοῦ παιδίου σου ἐκ τοῦ τόπου οὗ ἐστιν (lxx) Gen 21:17 Exaudivit autem Deus vocem pueri: vocavitque angelus Dei Agar de cælo, dicens: Quid agis Agar? noli timere: exaudivit enim Deus vocem pueri de loco in quo est.(vulgate) 17 ׃21 וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע אֱלֹהִים֮ אֶת־ק֣וֹל הַנַּעַר֒ וַיִּקְרָא֩ מַלְאַ֨ךְ אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ אֶל־הָגָר֙ מִן־הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיֹּ֥אמֶר לָ֖הּ מַה־לָּ֣ךְ הָגָ֑ר אַל־תִּ֣ירְאִ֔י כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֧ע אֱלֹהִ֛ים אֶל־ק֥וֹל הַנַּ֖עַר בַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הוּא־שָֽׁם׃ Genesis Gen 21:17 Da erhörte Gott die Stimme des Knaben. Und der Engel Gottes rief vom Himmel der Hagar und sprach zu ihr: Was ist dir Hagar? Fürchte dich nicht; denn Gott hat erhört die Stimme des Knaben, da er liegt.(dhs) Gen 21:17 And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, "What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:18 ============ Gen 21:18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him by the hand, for I will make a great nation of him."(nas) Gen 21:18 ἀνάστηθι λαβὲ τὸ παιδίον καὶ κράτησον τῇ χειρί σου αὐτό εἰς γὰρ ἔθνος μέγα ποιήσω αὐτόν (lxx) Gen 21:18 Surge, tolle puerum, et tene manum illius: quia in gentem magnam faciam eum.(vulgate) 18 ׃21 ק֚וּמִי שְׂאִ֣י אֶת־הַנַּ֔עַר וְהַחֲזִ֥יקִי אֶת־יָדֵ֖ךְ בּ֑וֹ כִּֽי־לְג֥וֹי גָּד֖וֹל אֲשִׂימֶֽנּוּ׃ Genesis Gen 21:18 Steh auf, nimm den Knaben und führe ihn an deiner Hand; denn ich will ihn zum großen Volk machen.(dhs) Gen 21:18 Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 21:19 ============ Gen 21:19 Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the skin with water and gave the lad a drink.(nas) Gen 21:19 καὶ ἀνέῳξεν ὁ θεὸς τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῆς καὶ εἶδεν φρέαρ ὕδατος ζῶντος καὶ ἐπορεύθη καὶ ἔπλησεν τὸν ἀσκὸν ὕδατος καὶ ἐπότισεν τὸ παιδίον (lxx) Gen 21:19 Aperuitque oculos ejus Deus: quæ videns puteum aquæ, abiit, et implevit utrem, deditque puero bibere.(vulgate) 19 ׃21 וַיִּפְקַ֤ח אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־עֵינֶ֔יהָ וַתֵּ֖רֶא בְּאֵ֣ר מָ֑יִם וַתֵּ֜לֶךְ וַתְּמַלֵּ֤א אֶת־הַחֵ֙מֶת֙ מַ֔יִם וַתַּ֖שְׁקְ אֶת־הַנָּֽעַר׃ Genesis Gen 21:19 Und Gott tat ihr die Augen auf, daß sie einen Wasserbrunnen sah.
