Today's Date: ======= Joshua 24:1 ============ Jos 24:1 Then Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel and for their heads and their judges and their officers; and they presented themselves before God.(nas) Jos 24:1 καὶ συνήγαγεν Ἰησοῦς πάσας φυλὰς Ισραηλ εἰς Σηλω καὶ συνεκάλεσεν τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς γραμματεῖς αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς δικαστὰς αὐτῶν καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτοὺς ἀπέναντι τοῦ θεοῦ (lxx) Jos 24:1 Congregavitque Josue omnes tribus Israël in Sichem, et vocavit majores natu, ac principes, et judices, et magistros: steteruntque in conspectu Domini,(vulgate) 1 ׃24 וַיֶּאֶסֹ֧ף יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ אֶת־כָּל־שִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שְׁכֶ֑מָה וַיִּקְרָא֩ לְזִקְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל וּלְרָאשָׁ֗יו וּלְשֹֽׁפְטָיו֙ וּלְשֹׁ֣טְרָ֔יו וַיִּֽתְיַצְּב֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 24:1 Josua versammelte alle Stämme Israels gen Sichem und berief die Ältesten von Israel, die Häupter, Richter und Amtleute. Und da sie vor Gott getreten waren,(dhs) Jos 24:1 Then Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and called for the elders of Israel, for their heads, for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:2 ============ Jos 24:2 Joshua said to all the people, "Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, 'From ancient times your fathers lived beyond the River, namely, Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, and they served other gods.(nas) Jos 24:2 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς πρὸς πάντα τὸν λαόν τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ κατῴκησαν οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν τὸ ἀπ᾽ ἀρχῆς Θαρα ὁ πατὴρ Αβρααμ καὶ ὁ πατὴρ Ναχωρ καὶ ἐλάτρευσαν θεοῖς ἑτέροις (lxx) Jos 24:2 et ad populum sic locutus est: Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël: Trans fluvium habitaverunt patres vestri ab initio, Thare pater Abraham et Nachor: servieruntque diis alienis.(vulgate) 2 ׃24 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ אֶל־כָּל־הָעָ֗ם כֹּֽה־אָמַ֣ר יְהוָה֮ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַנָּהָ֗ר יָשְׁב֤וּ אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ מֵֽעוֹלָ֔ם תֶּ֛רַח אֲבִ֥י אַבְרָהָ֖ם וַאֲבִ֣י נָח֑וֹר וַיַּעַבְד֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 24:2 sprach er zum ganzen Volk: So sagt der HERR, der Gott Israels: Eure Väter wohnten vorzeiten jenseit des Stroms, Tharah, Abrahams und Nahors Vater, und dienten andern Göttern.(dhs) Jos 24:2 And Joshua said to all the people, "Thus says the Lord God of Israel: 'Your fathers, including Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, dwelt on the other side of the River in old times; and they served other gods.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:3 ============ Jos 24:3 Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the River, and led him through all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac.(nas) Jos 24:3 καὶ ἔλαβον τὸν πατέρα ὑμῶν τὸν Αβρααμ ἐκ τοῦ πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ καὶ ὡδήγησα αὐτὸν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ καὶ ἐπλήθυνα αὐτοῦ σπέρμα καὶ ἔδωκα αὐτῷ τὸν Ισαακ (lxx) Jos 24:3 Tuli ergo patrem vestrum Abraham de Mesopotamiæ finibus, et adduxi eum in terram Chanaan, multiplicavique semen ejus,(vulgate) 3 ׃24 וָ֠אֶקַּח אֶת־אֲבִיכֶ֤ם אֶת־אַבְרָהָם֙ מֵעֵ֣בֶר הַנָּהָ֔ר וָאוֹלֵ֥ךְ אוֹת֖וֹ בְּכָל־אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן *וארב **וָאַרְבֶּה֙ אֶת־זַרְע֔וֹ וָֽאֶתֶּן־ל֖וֹ אֶת־יִצְחָֽק׃ Joshua Jos 24:3 Da nahm ich euren Vater Abraham jenseit des Stroms und ließ ihn wandern im ganzen Land Kanaan und mehrte ihm seinen Samen und gab ihm Isaak.(dhs) Jos 24:3 Then I took your father Abraham from the other side of the River, led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:4 ============ Jos 24:4 To Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau, and to Esau I gave Mount Seir to possess it; but Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt.(nas) Jos 24:4 καὶ τῷ Ισαακ τὸν Ιακωβ καὶ τὸν Ησαυ καὶ ἔδωκα τῷ Ησαυ τὸ ὄρος τὸ Σηιρ κληρονομῆσαι αὐτῷ καὶ Ιακωβ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ κατέβησαν εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ ἐγένοντο ἐκεῖ εἰς ἔθνος μέγα καὶ πολὺ καὶ κραταιόν (lxx) Jos 24:4 et dedi ei Isaac: illique rursum dedi Jacob et Esau. E quibus, Esau dedi montem Seir ad possidendum: Jacob vero et filii ejus descenderunt in Ægyptum.(vulgate) 4 ׃24 וָאֶתֵּ֣ן לְיִצְחָ֔ק אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹ֖ב וְאֶת־עֵשָׂ֑ו וָאֶתֵּ֨ן לְעֵשָׂ֜ו אֶת־הַ֤ר שֵׂעִיר֙ לָרֶ֣שֶׁת אוֹת֔וֹ וְיַעֲקֹ֥ב וּבָנָ֖יו יָרְד֥וּ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ Joshua Jos 24:4 Und Isaak gab ich Jakob und Esau und gab Esau das Gebirge Seir zu besitzen. Jakob aber und seine Kinder zogen hinab nach Ägypten.(dhs) Jos 24:4 'To Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. To Esau I gave the mountains of Seir to possess, but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:5 ============ Jos 24:5 Then I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt by what I did in its midst; and afterward I brought you out.(nas) Jos 24:5 καὶ ἐκάκωσαν αὐτοὺς οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι καὶ ἐπάταξεν κύριος τὴν Αἴγυπτον ἐν οἷς ἐποίησεν αὐτοῖς καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἐξήγαγεν ὑμᾶς (lxx) Jos 24:5 Misique Moysen et Aaron, et percussi Ægyptum multis signis atque portentis.(vulgate) 5 ׃24 וָאֶשְׁלַ֞ח אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֤ה וְאֶֽת־אַהֲרֹן֙ וָאֶגֹּ֣ף אֶת־מִצְרַ֔יִם כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֖יתִי בְּקִרְבּ֑וֹ וְאַחַ֖ר הוֹצֵ֥אתִי אֶתְכֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 24:5 Da sandte ich Mose und Aaron und plagte Ägypten, wie ich unter ihnen getan habe.(dhs) Jos 24:5 'Also I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to what I did among them. Afterward I brought you out.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:6 ============ Jos 24:6 I brought your fathers out of Egypt, and you came to the sea; and Egypt pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea.(nas) Jos 24:6 ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ εἰσήλθατε εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν τὴν ἐρυθράν καὶ κατεδίωξαν οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι ὀπίσω τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν ἐν ἅρμασιν καὶ ἐν ἵπποις εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν τὴν ἐρυθράν (lxx) Jos 24:6 Eduxique vos et patres vestros de Ægypto, et venistis ad mare: persecutique sunt Ægyptii patres vestros cum curribus et equitatu, usque ad mare Rubrum.(vulgate) 6 ׃24 וָֽאוֹצִ֤יא אֶת־אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם וַתָּבֹ֖אוּ הַיָּ֑מָּה וַיִּרְדְּפ֨וּ מִצְרַ֜יִם אַחֲרֵ֧י אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֛ם בְּרֶ֥כֶב וּבְפָרָשִׁ֖ים יַם־סֽוּף׃ Joshua Jos 24:6 Darnach führte ich euch und eure Väter aus Ägypten. Und da ihr an das Meer kamt und die Ägypter euren Vätern nachjagten mit Wagen und Reitern ans Schilfmeer,(dhs) Jos 24:6 'Then I brought your fathers out of Egypt, and you came to the sea; and the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:7 ============ Jos 24:7 But when they cried out to the Lord, He put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them and covered them; and your own eyes saw what I did in Egypt. And you lived in the wilderness for a long time.(nas) Jos 24:7 καὶ ἀνεβοήσαμεν πρὸς κύριον καὶ ἔδωκεν νεφέλην καὶ γνόφον ἀνὰ μέσον ἡμῶν καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν Αἰγυπτίων καὶ ἐπήγαγεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ ἐκάλυψεν αὐτούς καὶ εἴδοσαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ὑμῶν ὅσα ἐποίησεν κύριος ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ ἦτε ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἡμέρας πλείους (lxx) Jos 24:7 Clamaverunt autem ad Dominum filii Israël: qui posuit tenebras inter vos et Ægyptios, et adduxit super eos mare, et operuit eos. Viderunt oculi vestri cuncta quæ in Ægypto fecerim, et habitastis in solitudine multo tempore:(vulgate) 7 ׃24 וַיִּצְעֲק֣וּ אֶל־יְהוָ֗ה וַיָּ֨שֶׂם מֽ͏ַאֲפֵ֜ל בֵּינֵיכֶ֣ם ׀ וּבֵ֣ין הַמִּצְרִ֗ים וַיָּבֵ֨א עָלָ֤יו אֶת־הַיָּם֙ וַיְכַסֵּ֔הוּ וַתִּרְאֶ֙ינָה֙ עֵינֵיכֶ֔ם אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֖יתִי בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם וַתֵּשְׁב֥וּ בַמִּדְבָּ֖ר יָמִ֥ים רַבִּֽים׃ Joshua Jos 24:7 da schrieen sie zum HERRN; der setzte eine Finsternis zwischen euch und die Ägypter und führte das Meer über sie, und es bedeckte sie. Und eure Augen haben gesehen, was ich an den Ägyptern getan habe. Und ihr habt gewohnt in der Wüste eine lange Zeit.(dhs) Jos 24:7 'So they cried out to the Lord; and He put darkness between you and the Egyptians, brought the sea upon them, and covered them. And your eyes saw what I did in Egypt. Then you dwelt in the wilderness a long time.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:8 ============ Jos 24:8 Then I brought you into the land of the Amorites who lived beyond the Jordan, and they fought with you; and I gave them into your hand, and you took possession of their land when I destroyed them before you.(nas) Jos 24:8 καὶ ἤγαγεν ὑμᾶς εἰς γῆν Αμορραίων τῶν κατοικούντων πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ παρετάξαντο ὑμῖν καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος εἰς τὰς χεῖρας ὑμῶν καὶ κατεκληρονομήσατε τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν καὶ ἐξωλεθρεύσατε αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν (lxx) Jos 24:8 et introduxi vos in terram Amorrhæi, qui habitabat trans Jordanem. Cumque pugnarent contra vos, tradidi eos in manus vestras, et possedistis terram eorum, atque interfecistis eos.(vulgate) 8 ׃24 *ואבאה **וָאָבִ֣יא אֶתְכֶ֗ם אֶל־אֶ֤רֶץ הָאֱמֹרִי֙ הַיּוֹשֵׁב֙ בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ אִתְּכֶ֑ם וָאֶתֵּ֨ן אוֹתָ֤ם בְּיֶדְכֶם֙ וַתִּֽירְשׁ֣וּ אֶת־אַרְצָ֔ם וָאַשְׁמִידֵ֖ם מִפְּנֵיכֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 24:8 Und ich habe euch gebracht in das Land der Amoriter, die jenseit des Jordans wohnten; und da sie wider euch stritten, gab ich sie in eure Hände, daß ihr ihr Land besaßet, und vertilgte sie vor euch her.(dhs) Jos 24:8 'And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, who dwelt on the other side of the Jordan, and they fought with you. But I gave them into your hand, that you might possess their land, and I destroyed them from before you.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:9 ============ Jos 24:9 Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel, and he sent and summoned Balaam the son of Beor to curse you.(nas) Jos 24:9 καὶ ἀνέστη Βαλακ ὁ τοῦ Σεπφωρ βασιλεὺς Μωαβ καὶ παρετάξατο τῷ Ισραηλ καὶ ἀποστείλας ἐκάλεσεν τὸν Βαλααμ ἀράσασθαι ὑμῖν (lxx) Jos 24:9 Surrexit autem Balac filius Sephor rex Moab, et pugnavit contra Israëlem. Misitque et vocavit Balaam filium Beor, ut malediceret vobis:(vulgate) 9 ׃24 וַיָּ֨קָם בָּלָ֤ק בֶּן־צִפּוֹר֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֔ב וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח וַיִּקְרָ֛א לְבִלְעָ֥ם בֶּן־בְּע֖וֹר לְקַלֵּ֥ל אֶתְכֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 24:9 Da machte sich auf Balak, der Sohn Zippors, der Moabiter König, und stritt wider Israel und sandte hin und ließ rufen Bileam, den Sohn Beors, daß er euch verfluchte.(dhs) Jos 24:9 'Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose to make war against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:10 ============ Jos 24:10 But I was not willing to listen to Balaam. So he had to bless you, and I delivered you from his hand.(nas) Jos 24:10 καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἀπολέσαι σε καὶ εὐλογίαν εὐλόγησεν ὑμᾶς καὶ ἐξείλατο ὑμᾶς ἐκ χειρῶν αὐτῶν καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτούς (lxx) Jos 24:10 et ego nolui audire eum, sed e contrario per illum benedixi vobis, et liberavi vos de manu ejus.(vulgate) 10 ׃24 וְלֹ֥א אָבִ֖יתִי לִשְׁמֹ֣עַ לְבִלְעָ֑ם וַיְבָ֤רֶךְ בָּרוֹךְ֙ אֶתְכֶ֔ם וָאַצִּ֥ל אֶתְכֶ֖ם מִיָּדֽוֹ׃ Joshua Jos 24:10 Aber ich wollte ihn nicht hören. Und er segnete euch und ich errettete euch aus seinen Händen.(dhs) Jos 24:10 'But I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he continued to bless you. So I delivered you out of his hand.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:11 ============ Jos 24:11 You crossed the Jordan and came to Jericho; and the citizens of Jericho fought against you, and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Girgashite, the Hivite and the Jebusite. Thus I gave them into your hand.(nas) Jos 24:11 καὶ διέβητε τὸν Ιορδάνην καὶ παρεγενήθητε εἰς Ιεριχω καὶ ἐπολέμησαν πρὸς ὑμᾶς οἱ κατοικοῦντες Ιεριχω ὁ Αμορραῖος καὶ ὁ Χαναναῖος καὶ ὁ Φερεζαῖος καὶ ὁ Ευαῖος καὶ ὁ Ιεβουσαῖος καὶ ὁ Χετταῖος καὶ ὁ Γεργεσαῖος καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος εἰς τὰς χεῖρας ὑμῶν (lxx) Jos 24:11 Transistisque Jordanem, et venistis ad Jericho. Pugnaveruntque contra vos viri civitatis ejus, Amorrhæus et Pherezæus, et Chananæus, et Hethæus, et Gergezæus, et Hevæus, et Jebusæus: et tradidi illos in manus vestras.(vulgate) 11 ׃24 וַתַּעַבְר֣וּ אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן֮ וַתָּבֹ֣אוּ אֶל־יְרִיחוֹ֒ וַיִּלָּחֲמ֣וּ בָכֶ֣ם בַּעֲלֵֽי־יְ֠רִיחוֹ הָֽאֱמֹרִ֨י וְהַפְּרִזִּ֜י וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֗י וְהֽ͏ַחִתִּי֙ וְהַגִּרְגָּשִׁ֔י הֽ͏ַחִוִּ֖י וְהַיְבוּסִ֑י וָאֶתֵּ֥ן אוֹתָ֖ם בְּיֶדְכֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 24:11 Und da ihr über den Jordan gingt und gen Jericho kamt, stritten wider euch die Bürger von Jericho, die Amoriter, Pheresiter, Kanaaniter, Hethiter, Girgasiter, Heviter und Jebusiter; aber ich gab sie in eure Hände.(dhs) Jos 24:11 'Then you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho. And the men of Jericho fought against you--also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. But I delivered them into your hand.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:12 ============ Jos 24:12 Then I sent the hornet before you and it drove out the two kings of the Amorites from before you, but not by your sword or your bow.(nas) Jos 24:12 καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν προτέραν ὑμῶν τὴν σφηκιάν καὶ ἐξέβαλεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν δώδεκα βασιλεῖς τῶν Αμορραίων οὐκ ἐν τῇ ῥομφαίᾳ σου οὐδὲ ἐν τῷ τόξῳ σου (lxx) Jos 24:12 Misique ante vos crabrones: et ejeci eos de locis suis, duos reges Amorrhæorum, non in gladio nec in arcu tuo.(vulgate) 12 ׃24 וָאֶשְׁלַ֤ח לִפְנֵיכֶם֙ אֶת־הַצִּרְעָ֔ה וַתְּגָ֤רֶשׁ אוֹתָם֙ מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם שְׁנֵ֖י מַלְכֵ֣י הָאֱמֹרִ֑י לֹ֥א בְחַרְבְּךָ֖ וְלֹ֥א בְקַשְׁתֶּֽךָ׃ Joshua Jos 24:12 Und sandte Hornissen vor euch her; die trieben sie aus vor euch her, die zwei Könige der Amoriter, nicht durch dein Schwert noch durch deinen Bogen.(dhs) Jos 24:12 'I sent the hornet before you which drove them out from before you, also the two kings of the Amorites, but not with your sword or with your bow.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:13 ============ Jos 24:13 I gave you a land on which you had not labored, and cities which you had not built, and you have lived in them; you are eating of vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.' "We Will Serve the Lord"(nas) Jos 24:13 καὶ ἔδωκεν ὑμῖν γῆν ἐφ᾽ ἣν οὐκ ἐκοπιάσατε ἐπ᾽ αὐτῆς καὶ πόλεις ἃς οὐκ ᾠκοδομήσατε καὶ κατῳκίσθητε ἐν αὐταῖς καὶ ἀμπελῶνας καὶ ἐλαιῶνας οὓς οὐκ ἐφυτεύσατε ὑμεῖς ἔδεσθε (lxx) Jos 24:13 Dedique vobis terram, in qua non laborastis, et urbes quas non ædificastis, ut habitaretis in eis: vineas, et oliveta, quæ non plantastis.(vulgate) 13 ׃24 וָאֶתֵּ֨ן לָכֶ֜ם אֶ֣רֶץ ׀ אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹֽא־יָגַ֣עְתָּ בָּ֗הּ וְעָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־בְנִיתֶ֔ם וַתֵּשְׁב֖וּ בָּהֶ֑ם כְּרָמִ֤ים וְזֵיתִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־נְטַעְתֶּ֔ם אַתֶּ֖ם אֹכְלִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 24:13 Und ich habe euch ein Land gegeben, daran ihr nicht gearbeitet habt, und Städte, die ihr nicht gebaut habt, daß ihr darin wohnt und eßt von Weinbergen und Ölbäumen, die ihr nicht gepflanzt habt.(dhs) Jos 24:13 'I have given you a land for which you did not labor, and cities which you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.'(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:14 ============ Jos 24:14 "Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.(nas) Jos 24:14 καὶ νῦν φοβήθητε κύριον καὶ λατρεύσατε αὐτῷ ἐν εὐθύτητι καὶ ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ περιέλεσθε τοὺς θεοὺς τοὺς ἀλλοτρίους οἷς ἐλάτρευσαν οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ καὶ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ λατρεύετε κυρίῳ (lxx) Jos 24:14 Nunc ergo timete Dominum, et servite ei perfecto corde atque verissimo: et auferte deos quibus servierunt patres vestri in Mesopotamia et in Ægypto, ac servite Domino.(vulgate) 14 ׃24 וְעַתָּ֞ה יְר֧אוּ אֶת־יְהוָ֛ה וְעִבְד֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ בְּתָמִ֣ים וּבֶֽאֱמֶ֑ת וְהָסִ֣ירוּ אֶת־אֱלֹהִ֗ים אֲשֶׁר֩ עָבְד֨וּ אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֜ם בְּעֵ֤בֶר הַנָּהָר֙ וּבְמִצְרַ֔יִם וְעִבְד֖וּ אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃ Joshua Jos 24:14 So fürchtet nun den HERRN und dient ihm treulich und rechtschaffen und laßt fahren die Götter, denen eure Väter gedient haben jenseit des Stroms und in Ägypten, und dient dem HERRN.(dhs) Jos 24:14 "Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord!(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:15 ============ Jos 24:15 If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."(nas) Jos 24:15 εἰ δὲ μὴ ἀρέσκει ὑμῖν λατρεύειν κυρίῳ ἕλεσθε ὑμῖν ἑαυτοῖς σήμερον τίνι λατρεύσητε εἴτε τοῖς θεοῖς τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν τοῖς ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ εἴτε τοῖς θεοῖς τῶν Αμορραίων ἐν οἷς ὑμεῖς κατοικεῖτε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς αὐτῶν ἐγὼ δὲ καὶ ἡ οἰκία μου λατρεύσομεν κυρίῳ ὅτι ἅγιός ἐστιν (lxx) Jos 24:15 Sin autem malum vobis videtur ut Domino serviatis, optio vobis datur: eligite hodie quod placet, cui servire potissimum debeatis: utrum diis, quibus servierunt patres vestri in Mesopotamia, an diis Amorrhæorum, in quorum terra habitatis: ego autem et domus mea serviemus Domino.~(vulgate) 15 ׃24 וְאִם֩ רַ֨ע בְּֽעֵינֵיכֶ֜ם לַעֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־יְהוָ֗ה בַּחֲר֨וּ לָכֶ֣ם הַיּוֹם֮ אֶת־מִ֣י תַעֲבֹדוּן֒ אִ֣ם אֶת־אֱלֹהִ֞ים אֲשֶׁר־עָבְד֣וּ אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֗ם אֲשֶׁר֙ *בעבר **מֵעֵ֣בֶר הַנָּהָ֔ר וְאִם֙ אֶת־אֱלֹהֵ֣י הָאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתֶּ֖ם יֹשְׁבִ֣ים בְּאַרְצָ֑ם וְאָנֹכִ֣י וּבֵיתִ֔י נַעֲבֹ֖ד אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃ פ Joshua Jos 24:15 Gefällt es euch aber nicht, daß ihr dem HERRN dient, so erwählt euch heute, wem ihr dienen wollt: den Göttern, denen eure Väter gedient haben jenseit des Stroms, oder den Göttern der Amoriter, in deren Land ihr wohnt. We also will serve the Lord, for He is our God."(nas) Jos 24:18 καὶ ἐξέβαλεν κύριος τὸν Αμορραῖον καὶ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τὰ κατοικοῦντα τὴν γῆν ἀπὸ προσώπου ἡμῶν ἀλλὰ καὶ ἡμεῖς λατρεύσομεν κυρίῳ οὗτος γὰρ θεὸς ἡμῶν ἐστιν (lxx) Jos 24:18 Et ejecit universas gentes, Amorrhæum habitatorem terræ quam nos intravimus. Serviemus igitur Domino, quia ipse est Deus noster.(vulgate) 18 ׃24 וַיְגָ֨רֶשׁ יְהוָ֜ה אֶת־כָּל־הָעַמִּ֗ים וְאֶת־הָאֱמֹרִ֛י יֹשֵׁ֥ב הָאָ֖רֶץ מִפָּנֵ֑ינוּ גַּם־אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ נַעֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־יְהוָ֔ה כִּי־ה֖וּא אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ ס Joshua Jos 24:18 und hat ausgestoßen vor uns her alle Völker der Amoriter, die im Land wohnten. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgression or your sins.(nas) Jos 24:19 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς πρὸς τὸν λαόν οὐ μὴ δύνησθε λατρεύειν κυρίῳ ὅτι θεὸς ἅγιός ἐστιν καὶ ζηλώσας οὗτος οὐκ ἀνήσει ὑμῶν τὰ ἁμαρτήματα καὶ τὰ ἀνομήματα ὑμῶν (lxx) Jos 24:19 Dixitque Josue ad populum: Non poteritis servire Domino: Deus enim sanctus et fortis æmulator est, nec ignoscet sceleribus vestris atque peccatis.(vulgate) 19 ׃24 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ אֶל־הָעָ֗ם לֹ֤א תֽוּכְלוּ֙ לַעֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־יְהוָ֔ה כִּֽי־אֱלֹהִ֥ים קְדֹשִׁ֖ים ה֑וּא אֵֽל־קַנּ֣וֹא ה֔וּא לֹֽא־יִשָּׂ֥א לְפִשְׁעֲכֶ֖ם וּלְחַטֹּאותֵיכֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 24:19 Josua sprach zu dem Volk: Ihr könnt dem HERRN nicht dienen; denn er ist ein heiliger Gott, ein eifriger Gott, der eurer Übertretungen und Sünden nicht schonen wird.(dhs) Jos 24:19 But Joshua said to the people, "You cannot serve the Lord, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:20 ============ Jos 24:20 If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then He will turn and do you harm and consume you after He has done good to you."(nas) Jos 24:20 ἡνίκα ἐὰν ἐγκαταλίπητε κύριον καὶ λατρεύσητε θεοῖς ἑτέροις καὶ ἐπελθὼν κακώσει ὑμᾶς καὶ ἐξαναλώσει ὑμᾶς ἀνθ᾽ ὧν εὖ ἐποίησεν ὑμᾶς (lxx) Jos 24:20 Si dimiseritis Dominum, et servieritis diis alienis, convertet se, et affliget vos atque subvertet, postquam vobis præstiterit bona.(vulgate) 20 ׃24 כִּ֤י תַֽעַזְבוּ֙ אֶת־יְהוָ֔ה וַעֲבַדְתֶּ֖ם אֱלֹהֵ֣י נֵכָ֑ר וְשָׁ֨ב וְהֵרַ֤ע לָכֶם֙ וְכִלָּ֣ה אֶתְכֶ֔ם אַחֲרֵ֖י אֲשֶׁר־הֵיטִ֥יב לָכֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 24:20 Wenn ihr aber den HERRN verlaßt und fremden Göttern dient, so wird er sich wenden und euch plagen und euch umbringen, nachdem er euch Gutes getan hat.(dhs) Jos 24:20 If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then He will turn and do you harm and consume you, after He has done you good."(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:21 ============ Jos 24:21 The people said to Joshua, "No, but we will serve the Lord."(nas) Jos 24:21 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Ἰησοῦν οὐχί ἀλλὰ κυρίῳ λατρεύσομεν (lxx) Jos 24:21 Dixitque populus ad Josue: Nequaquam ita ut loqueris erit, sed Domino serviemus.(vulgate) 21 ׃24 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הָעָ֖ם אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַ לֹ֕א כִּ֥י אֶת־יְהוָ֖ה נַעֲבֹֽד׃ Joshua Jos 24:21 Das Volk aber sprach zu Josua: Nicht also, sondern wir wollen dem HERRN dienen.(dhs) Jos 24:21 And the people said to Joshua, "No, but we will serve the Lord!"(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:22 ============ Jos 24:22 Joshua said to the people, "You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen for yourselves the Lord, to serve Him." And they said, "We are witnesses."(nas) Jos 24:22 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς πρὸς τὸν λαόν μάρτυρες ὑμεῖς καθ᾽ ὑμῶν ὅτι ὑμεῖς ἐξελέξασθε κύριον λατρεύειν αὐτῷ (lxx) Jos 24:22 Et Josue ad populum: Testes, inquit, vos estis, quia ipsi elegeritis vobis Dominum ut serviatis ei. Responderuntque: Testes.(vulgate) 22 ׃24 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ אֶל־הָעָ֗ם עֵדִ֤ים אַתֶּם֙ בָּכֶ֔ם כִּֽי־אַתֶּ֞ם בְּחַרְתֶּ֥ם לָכֶ֛ם אֶת־יְהוָ֖ה לַעֲבֹ֣ד אוֹת֑וֹ וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ עֵדִֽים׃ Joshua Jos 24:22 Da sprach Josua zum Volk: Ihr seid Zeugen über euch, daß ihr den HERRN euch erwählt habt, daß ihr ihm dient. Und sie sprachen: Ja.(dhs) Jos 24:22 So Joshua said to the people, "You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord for yourselves, to serve Him." And they said, "We are witnesses!"(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:23 ============ Jos 24:23 "Now therefore, put away the foreign gods which are in your midst, and incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel."(nas) Jos 24:23 καὶ νῦν περιέλεσθε τοὺς θεοὺς τοὺς ἀλλοτρίους τοὺς ἐν ὑμῖν καὶ εὐθύνατε τὴν καρδίαν ὑμῶν πρὸς κύριον θεὸν Ισραηλ (lxx) Jos 24:23 Nunc ergo, ait, auferte deos alienos de medio vestri, et inclinate corda vestra ad Dominum Deum Israël.(vulgate) 23 ׃24 וְעַתָּ֕ה הָסִ֛ירוּ אֶת־אֱלֹהֵ֥י הַנֵּכָ֖ר אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם וְהַטּוּ֙ אֶת־לְבַבְכֶ֔ם אֶל־יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Joshua Jos 24:23 So tut nun von euch die fremden Götter, die unter euch sind, und neigt euer Herz zu dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels.(dhs) Jos 24:23 "Now therefore," he said, "put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord God of Israel."(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:24 ============ Jos 24:24 The people said to Joshua, "We will serve the Lord our God and we will obey His voice."(nas) Jos 24:24 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Ἰησοῦν κυρίῳ λατρεύσομεν καὶ τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ἀκουσόμεθα (lxx) Jos 24:24 Dixitque populus ad Josue: Domino Deo nostro serviemus, et obedientes erimus præceptis ejus.~(vulgate) 24 ׃24 וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ הָעָ֖ם אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַ אֶת־יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙ נַעֲבֹ֔ד וּבְקוֹל֖וֹ נִשְׁמָֽע׃ Joshua Jos 24:24 Und das Volk sprach zu Josua: Wir wollen dem HERRN, unserm Gott, dienen und seiner Stimme gehorchen.(dhs) Jos 24:24 And the people said to Joshua, "The Lord our God we will serve, and His voice we will obey!"(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:25 ============ Jos 24:25 So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made for them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.(nas) Jos 24:25 καὶ διέθετο Ἰησοῦς διαθήκην πρὸς τὸν λαὸν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ νόμον καὶ κρίσιν ἐν Σηλω ἐνώπιον τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ θεοῦ Ισραηλ (lxx) Jos 24:25 Percussit ergo Josue in die illo fœdus, et proposuit populo præcepta atque judicia in Sichem.(vulgate) 25 ׃24 וַיִּכְרֹ֨ת יְהוֹשֻׁ֧עַ בְּרִ֛ית לָעָ֖ם בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא וַיָּ֥שֶׂם ל֛וֹ חֹ֥ק וּמִשְׁפָּ֖ט בִּשְׁכֶֽם׃ Joshua Jos 24:25 Also machte Josua desselben Tages einen Bund mit dem Volk und legte ihnen Gesetze und Rechte vor zu Sichem.(dhs) Jos 24:25 So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made for them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 24:26 ============ Jos 24:26 And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God; and he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of the Lord.(nas) Jos 24:26 καὶ ἔγραψεν τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα εἰς βιβλίον νόμον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἔλαβεν λίθον μέγαν καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτὸν Ἰησοῦς ὑπὸ τὴν τερέμινθον ἀπέναντι κυρίου (lxx) Jos 24:26 Scripsit quoque omnia verba hæc in volumine legis Domini: et tulit lapidem pergrandem, posuitque eum subter quercum, quæ erat in sanctuario Domini:(vulgate) 26 ׃24 וַיִּכְתֹּ֤ב יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה בְּסֵ֖פֶר תּוֹרַ֣ת אֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיִּקַּח֙ אֶ֣בֶן גְּדוֹלָ֔ה וַיְקִימֶ֣הָ שָּׁ֔ם תַּ֚חַת הָֽאַלָּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּמִקְדַּ֥שׁ יְהוָֽה׃ ס Joshua Jos 24:26 Und Josua schrieb dies alles ins Gesetzbuch Gottes und nahm einen großen Stein und richtete ihn auf daselbst unter einer Eiche, die bei dem Heiligtum des HERRN war,(dhs) Jos 24:26 Then Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. and they buried him at Gibeah of Phinehas his son, which was given him in the hill country of Ephraim.(nas) Jos 24:33 καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ ταῦτα καὶ Ελεαζαρ υἱὸς Ααρων ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς ἐτελεύτησεν καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν Γαβααθ Φινεες τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ ἣν ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ ἐν τῷ ὄρει τῷ Εφραιμ Jos 24:33 Eleazar quoque filius Aaron mortuus est: et sepelierunt eum in Gabaath Phinees filii ejus, quæ data est ei in monte Ephraim.(vulgate) 33 ׃24 וְאֶלְעָזָ֥ר בֶּֽן־אַהֲרֹ֖ן מֵ֑ת וַיִּקְבְּר֣וּ אֹת֗וֹ בְּגִבְעַת֙ פִּֽינְחָ֣ס בְּנ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִתַּן־ל֖וֹ בְּהַ֥ר אֶפְרָֽיִם׃ Joshua Jos 24:33 Eleasar, der Sohn Aarons, starb auch, und sie begruben ihn zu Gibea, der Stadt seines Sohnes Pinehas, die ihm gegeben war auf dem Gebirge Ephraim.(dhs) Jos 24:33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died.
