Today's Date: ======= 1 Kings 18:1 ============ 1Ki 18:1 Now it happened after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying, "Go, show yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the face of the earth."(nas) 1Ki 18:1 καὶ ἐγένετο μεθ᾽ ἡμέρας πολλὰς καὶ ῥῆμα κυρίου ἐγένετο πρὸς Ηλιου ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ τῷ τρίτῳ λέγων πορεύθητι καὶ ὄφθητι τῷ Αχααβ καὶ δώσω ὑετὸν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τῆς γῆς (lxx) 1Ki 18:1 Post dies multos factum est verbum Domini ad Eliam, in anno tertio, dicens: Vade, et ostende te Achab, ut dem pluviam super faciem terræ.(vulgate) 1 ׃18 וַיְהִי֙ יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים וּדְבַר־יְהוָ֗ה הָיָה֙ אֶל־אֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ בַּשָּׁנָ֥ה הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֖ית לֵאמֹ֑ר לֵ֚ךְ הֵרָאֵ֣ה אֶל־אַחְאָ֔ב וְאֶתְּנָ֥ה מָטָ֖ר עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הָאֲדָמָֽה׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:1 Und über eine lange Zeit kam das Wort des HERRN zu Elia, im dritten Jahr, und sprach: Gehe hin und zeige dich Ahab, daß ich regnen lasse auf Erden.(dhs) 1Ki 18:1 And it came to pass after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, "Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth."(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:2 ============ 1Ki 18:2 So Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria.(nas) 1Ki 18:2 καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ηλιου τοῦ ὀφθῆναι τῷ Αχααβ καὶ ἡ λιμὸς κραταιὰ ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ (lxx) 1Ki 18:2 Ivit ergo Elias, ut ostenderet se Achab: erat autem fames vehemens in Samaria.(vulgate) 2 ׃18 וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ אֵֽלִיָּ֔הוּ לְהֵרָא֖וֹת אֶל־אַחְאָ֑ב וְהָרָעָ֖ב חָזָ֥ק בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:2 Und Elia ging hin, daß er sich Ahab zeigte. Es war aber eine große Teuerung zu Samaria.(dhs) 1Ki 18:2 So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab; and there was a severe famine in Samaria.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:3 ============ 1Ki 18:3 Ahab called Obadiah who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly;(nas) 1Ki 18:3 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αχααβ τὸν Αβδιου τὸν οἰκονόμον καὶ Αβδιου ἦν φοβούμενος τὸν κύριον σφόδρα (lxx) 1Ki 18:3 Vocavitque Achab Abdiam dispensatorem domus suæ: Abdias autem timebat Dominum valde.(vulgate) 3 ׃18 וַיִּקְרָ֣א אַחְאָ֔ב אֶל־עֹבַדְיָ֖הוּ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־הַבָּ֑יִת וְעֹבַדְיָ֗הוּ הָיָ֥ה יָרֵ֛א אֶת־יְהוָ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:3 Und Ahab rief Obadja, seinen Hofmeister. (Obadja aber fürchtete den HERRN sehr.(dhs) 1Ki 18:3 And Ahab had called Obadiah, who was in charge of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:4 ============ 1Ki 18:4 for when Jezebel destroyed the prophets of the Lord, Obadiah took a hundred prophets and hid them by fifties in a cave, and provided them with bread and water.)(nas) 1Ki 18:4 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ τύπτειν τὴν Ιεζαβελ τοὺς προφήτας κυρίου καὶ ἔλαβεν Αβδιου ἑκατὸν ἄνδρας προφήτας καὶ ἔκρυψεν αὐτοὺς κατὰ πεντήκοντα ἐν σπηλαίῳ καὶ διέτρεφεν αὐτοὺς ἐν ἄρτῳ καὶ ὕδατι (lxx) 1Ki 18:4 Nam cum interficeret Jezabel prophetas Domini, tulit ille centum prophetas, et abscondit eos quinquagenos et quinquagenos in speluncis, et pavit eos pane et aqua.(vulgate) 4 ׃18 וַיְהִי֙ בְּהַכְרִ֣ית אִיזֶ֔בֶל אֵ֖ת נְבִיאֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּקַּ֨ח עֹבַדְיָ֜הוּ מֵאָ֣ה נְבִאִ֗ים וַֽיַּחְבִּיאֵ֞ם חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים אִישׁ֙ בַּמְּעָרָ֔ה וְכִלְכְּלָ֖ם לֶ֥חֶם וָמָֽיִם׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:4 Denn da Isebel die Propheten des HERRN ausrottete, nahm Obadja hundert Propheten und versteckte sie in Höhlen, hier fünfzig und da fünfzig, und versorgte sie mit Brot und Wasser.)(dhs) 1Ki 18:4 For so it was, while Jezebel massacred the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah had taken one hundred prophets and hidden them, fifty to a cave, and had fed them with bread and water.)(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:5 ============ 1Ki 18:5 Then Ahab said to Obadiah, "Go through the land to all the springs of water and to all the valleys; perhaps we will find grass and keep the horses and mules alive, and not have to kill some of the cattle."(nas) 1Ki 18:5 καὶ εἶπεν Αχααβ πρὸς Αβδιου δεῦρο καὶ διέλθωμεν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἐπὶ πηγὰς τῶν ὑδάτων καὶ ἐπὶ χειμάρρους ἐάν πως εὕρωμεν βοτάνην καὶ περιποιησώμεθα ἵππους καὶ ἡμιόνους καὶ οὐκ ἐξολοθρευθήσονται ἀπὸ τῶν κτηνῶν (lxx) 1Ki 18:5 Dixit ergo Achab ad Abdiam: Vade in terram ad universos fontes aquarum, et in cunctas valles, si forte possimus invenire herbam, et salvare equos et mulos, et non penitus jumenta intereant.(vulgate) 5 ׃18 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אַחְאָב֙ אֶל־עֹ֣בַדְיָ֔הוּ לֵ֤ךְ בָּאָ֙רֶץ֙ אֶל־כָּל־מַעְיְנֵ֣י הַמַּ֔יִם וְאֶ֖ל כָּל־הַנְּחָלִ֑ים אוּלַ֣י ׀ נִמְצָ֣א חָצִ֗יר וּנְחַיֶּה֙ ס֣וּס וָפֶ֔רֶד וְל֥וֹא נַכְרִ֖ית מֵהַבְּהֵמָֽה׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:5 So sprach nun Ahab zu Obadja: Zieh durchs Land zu allen Wasserbrunnen und Bächen, ob wir möchten Heu finden und die Rosse und Maultiere erhalten, daß nicht das Vieh alles umkomme.(dhs) 1Ki 18:5 And Ahab had said to Obadiah, "Go into the land to all the springs of water and to all the brooks; perhaps we may find grass to keep the horses and mules alive, so that we will not have to kill any livestock."(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:6 ============ 1Ki 18:6 So they divided the land between them to survey it; Ahab went one way by himself and Obadiah went another way by himself.(nas) 1Ki 18:6 καὶ ἐμέρισαν ἑαυτοῖς τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ διελθεῖν αὐτήν Αχααβ ἐπορεύθη ἐν ὁδῷ μιᾷ μόνος καὶ Αβδιου ἐπορεύθη ἐν ὁδῷ ἄλλῃ μόνος (lxx) 1Ki 18:6 Diviseruntque sibi regiones ut circuirent eas: Achab ibat per viam unam, et Abdias per viam alteram seorsum.(vulgate) 6 ׃18 וַֽיְחַלְּק֥וּ לָהֶ֛ם אֶת־הָאָ֖רֶץ לַֽעֲבָר־בָּ֑הּ אַחְאָ֞ב הָלַ֨ךְ בְּדֶ֤רֶךְ אֶחָד֙ לְבַדּ֔וֹ וְעֹֽבַדְיָ֛הוּ הָלַ֥ךְ בְּדֶרֶךְ־אֶחָ֖ד לְבַדּֽוֹ׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:6 Und sie teilten sich ins Land, daß sie es durchzogen. Ahab zog allein auf einem Wege und Obadja auch allein den andern Weg.(dhs) 1Ki 18:6 So they divided the land between them to explore it; Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:7 ============ 1Ki 18:7 Now as Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him, and he recognized him and fell on his face and said, "Is this you, Elijah my master?"(nas) 1Ki 18:7 καὶ ἦν Αβδιου ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ μόνος καὶ ἦλθεν Ηλιου εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτοῦ μόνος καὶ Αβδιου ἔσπευσεν καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν εἰ σὺ εἶ αὐτός κύριέ μου Ηλιου (lxx) 1Ki 18:7 Cumque esset Abdias in via, Elias occurrit ei: qui cum cognovisset eum, cecidit super faciem suam, et ait: Num tu es, domine mi, Elias?(vulgate) 7 ׃18 וַיְהִ֤י עֹבַדְיָ֙הוּ֙ בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ וְהִנֵּ֥ה אֵלִיָּ֖הוּ לִקְרָאת֑וֹ וַיַּכִּרֵ֙הוּ֙ וַיִּפֹּ֣ל עַל־פָּנָ֔יו וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הַאַתָּ֥ה זֶ֖ה אֲדֹנִ֥י אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:7 Da nun Obadja auf dem Wege war, siehe, da begegnete ihm Elia; und er erkannte ihn, fiel auf sein Antlitz und sprach: Bist du nicht mein Herr Elia?(dhs) 1Ki 18:7 Now as Obadiah was on his way, suddenly Elijah met him; and he recognized him, and fell on his face, and said, "Is that you, my lord Elijah?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:8 ============ 1Ki 18:8 He said to him, "It is I. Go, say to your master, 'Behold, Elijah is here.'"(nas) 1Ki 18:8 καὶ εἶπεν Ηλιου αὐτῷ ἐγώ πορεύου λέγε τῷ κυρίῳ σου ἰδοὺ Ηλιου (lxx) 1Ki 18:8 Cui ille respondit: Ego. Vade, et dic domino tuo: Adest Elias.(vulgate) 8 ׃18 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֖וֹ אָ֑נִי לֵ֛ךְ אֱמֹ֥ר לַאדֹנֶ֖יךָ הִנֵּ֥ה אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:8 Er sprach: Ja. Gehe hin und sage deinem Herrn: Siehe, Elia ist hier!(dhs) 1Ki 18:8 And he answered him, "It is I. Go, tell your master, 'Elijah is here.' "(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:9 ============ 1Ki 18:9 He said, "What sin have I committed, that you are giving your servant into the hand of Ahab to put me to death?(nas) 1Ki 18:9 καὶ εἶπεν Αβδιου τί ἡμάρτηκα ὅτι δίδως τὸν δοῦλόν σου εἰς χεῖρα Αχααβ τοῦ θανατῶσαί με (lxx) 1Ki 18:9 Et ille: Quid peccavi, inquit, quoniam tradis me servum tuum in manu Achab, ut interficiat me?(vulgate) 9 ׃18 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר מֶ֣ה חָטָ֑אתִי כִּֽי־אַתָּ֞ה נֹתֵ֧ן אֶֽת־עַבְדְּךָ֛ בְּיַד־אַחְאָ֖ב לַהֲמִיתֵֽנִי׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:9 Er aber sprach: Was habe ich gesündigt, daß du deinen Knecht willst in die Hände Ahabs geben, daß er mich töte?(dhs) 1Ki 18:9 So he said, "How have I sinned, that you are delivering your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:10 ============ 1Ki 18:10 As the Lord your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my master has not sent to search for you; and when they said, 'He is not here,' he made the kingdom or nation swear that they could not find you.(nas) 1Ki 18:10 ζῇ κύριος ὁ θεός σου εἰ ἔστιν ἔθνος ἢ βασιλεία οὗ οὐκ ἀπέσταλκεν ὁ κύριός μου ζητεῖν σε καὶ εἶπον οὐκ ἔστιν καὶ ἐνέπρησεν τὴν βασιλείαν καὶ τὰς χώρας αὐτῆς ὅτι οὐχ εὕρηκέν σε (lxx) 1Ki 18:10 Vivit Dominus Deus tuus, quia non est gens aut regnum quo non miserit dominus meus te requirens: et respondentibus cunctis: Non est hic: adjuravit regna singula et gentes, eo quod minime reperireris.(vulgate) 10 ׃18 חַ֣י ׀ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ אִם־יֶשׁ־גּ֤וֹי וּמַמְלָכָה֙ אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹֽא־שָׁלַ֨ח אֲדֹנִ֥י שָׁם֙ לְבַקֶּשְׁךָ֔ וְאָמְר֖וּ אָ֑יִן וְהִשְׁבִּ֤יעַ אֶת־הַמַּמְלָכָה֙ וְאֶת־הַגּ֔וֹי כִּ֖י לֹ֥א יִמְצָאֶֽכָּה׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:10 So wahr der HERR, dein Gott, lebt, es ist kein Volk noch Königreich, dahin mein Herr nicht gesandt hat, dich zu suchen; und wenn sie sprachen: Er ist nicht hier, nahm er einen Eid von dem Königreich und Volk, daß man dich nicht gefunden hätte.(dhs) 1Ki 18:10 As the Lord your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to hunt for you; and when they said, 'He is not here,' he took an oath from the kingdom or nation that they could not find you.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:11 ============ 1Ki 18:11 And now you are saying, 'Go, say to your master, "Behold, Elijah is here."'(nas) 1Ki 18:11 καὶ νῦν σὺ λέγεις πορεύου ἀνάγγελλε τῷ κυρίῳ σου ἰδοὺ Ηλιου (lxx) 1Ki 18:11 Et nunc tu dicis mihi: Vade, et dic domino tuo: Adest Elias.(vulgate) 11 ׃18 וְעַתָּ֖ה אַתָּ֣ה אֹמֵ֑ר לֵ֛ךְ אֱמֹ֥ר לַאדֹנֶ֖יךָ הִנֵּ֥ה אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:11 Und du sprichst nun: Gehe hin, sage deinem Herrn: Siehe, Elia ist hier!(dhs) 1Ki 18:11 And now you say, 'Go, tell your master, "Elijah is here" '!(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:12 ============ 1Ki 18:12 It will come about when I leave you that the Spirit of the Lord will carry you where I do not know; so when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, although I your servant have feared the Lord from my youth.(nas) 1Ki 18:12 καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν ἐγὼ ἀπέλθω ἀπὸ σοῦ καὶ πνεῦμα κυρίου ἀρεῖ σε εἰς γῆν ἣν οὐκ οἶδα καὶ εἰσελεύσομαι ἀπαγγεῖλαι τῷ Αχααβ καὶ ἀποκτενεῖ με καὶ ὁ δοῦλός σού ἐστιν φοβούμενος τὸν κύριον ἐκ νεότητος αὐτοῦ (lxx) 1Ki 18:12 Cumque recessero a te, spiritus Domini asportabit te in locum quem ego ignoro: et ingressus nuntiabo Achab, et non inveniens te, interficiet me: servus autem tuus timet Dominum ab infantia sua.(vulgate) 12 ׃18 וְהָיָ֞ה אֲנִ֣י ׀ אֵלֵ֣ךְ מֵאִתָּ֗ךְ וְר֨וּחַ יְהוָ֤ה ׀ יִֽשָּׂאֲךָ֙ עַ֚ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־אֵדָ֔ע וּבָ֨אתִי לְהַגִּ֧יד לְאַחְאָ֛ב וְלֹ֥א יִֽמְצָאֲךָ֖ וַהֲרָגָ֑נִי וְעַבְדְּךָ֛ יָרֵ֥א אֶת־יְהוָ֖ה מִנְּעֻרָֽי׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:12 Wenn ich nun hinginge von dir, so würde dich der Geist des HERRN wegnehmen, weiß nicht, wohin; und wenn ich dann käme und sagte es Ahab an und er fände dich nicht, so erwürgte er mich. Aber dein Knecht fürchtet den HERRN von seiner Jugend auf.(dhs) 1Ki 18:12 And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from you, that the Spirit of the Lord will carry you to a place I do not know; so when I go and tell Ahab, and he cannot find you, he will kill me. But I your servant have feared the Lord from my youth.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:13 ============ 1Ki 18:13 Has it not been told to my master what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the Lord, that I hid a hundred prophets of the Lord by fifties in a cave, and provided them with bread and water?(nas) 1Ki 18:13 ἦ οὐκ ἀπηγγέλη σοι τῷ κυρίῳ μου οἷα πεποίηκα ἐν τῷ ἀποκτείνειν Ιεζαβελ τοὺς προφήτας κυρίου καὶ ἔκρυψα ἀπὸ τῶν προφητῶν κυρίου ἑκατὸν ἄνδρας ἀνὰ πεντήκοντα ἐν σπηλαίῳ καὶ ἔθρεψα ἐν ἄρτοις καὶ ὕδατι (lxx) 1Ki 18:13 Numquid non indicatum est tibi domino meo quid fecerim cum interficeret Jezabel prophetas Domini, quod absconderim de prophetis Domini centum viros, quinquagenos et quinquagenos, in speluncis, et paverim eos pane et aqua?(vulgate) 13 ׃18 הֲלֹֽא־הֻגַּ֤ד לַֽאדֹנִי֙ אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֔יתִי בַּהֲרֹ֣ג אִיזֶ֔בֶל אֵ֖ת נְבִיאֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וָאַחְבִּא֩ מִנְּבִיאֵ֨י יְהוָ֜ה מֵ֣אָה אִ֗ישׁ חֲמִשִּׁ֨ים חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים אִישׁ֙ בַּמְּעָרָ֔ה וָאֲכַלְכְּלֵ֖ם לֶ֥חֶם וָמָֽיִם׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:13 Ist's meinem Herrn nicht angesagt, was ich getan habe, da Isebel die Propheten des HERR erwürgte? daß ich der Propheten des HERRN hundert versteckte, hier fünfzig und da fünfzig, in Höhlen und versorgte sie mit Brot und Wasser?(dhs) 1Ki 18:13 Was it not reported to my lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the Lord, how I hid one hundred men of the Lord's prophets, fifty to a cave, and fed them with bread and water?(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:14 ============ 1Ki 18:14 And now you are saying, 'Go, say to your master, "Behold, Elijah is here"'; he will then kill me."(nas) 1Ki 18:14 καὶ νῦν σὺ λέγεις μοι πορεύου λέγε τῷ κυρίῳ σου ἰδοὺ Ηλιου καὶ ἀποκτενεῖ με (lxx) 1Ki 18:14 et nunc tu dicis: Vade, et dic domino tuo: Adest Elias: ut interficiat me?(vulgate) 14 ׃18 וְעַתָּה֙ אַתָּ֣ה אֹמֵ֔ר לֵ֛ךְ אֱמֹ֥ר לַֽאדֹנֶ֖יךָ הִנֵּ֣ה אֵלִיָּ֑הוּ וַהֲרָגָֽנִי׃ ס Kings1 1Ki 18:14 Und du sprichst nun: Gehe hin, sage deinem Herrn: Elia ist hier! daß er mich erwürge.(dhs) 1Ki 18:14 And now you say, 'Go, tell your master, "Elijah is here." ' He will kill me!"(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:15 ============ 1Ki 18:15 Elijah said, "As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today."(nas) 1Ki 18:15 καὶ εἶπεν Ηλιου ζῇ κύριος τῶν δυνάμεων ᾧ παρέστην ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ ὅτι σήμερον ὀφθήσομαι αὐτῷ (lxx) 1Ki 18:15 Et dixit Elias: Vivit Dominus exercituum, ante cujus vultum sto, quia hodie apparebo ei.(vulgate) 15 ׃18 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֵֽלִיָּ֔הוּ חַ֚י יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָמַ֖דְתִּי לְפָנָ֑יו כִּ֥י הַיּ֖וֹם אֵרָאֶ֥ה אֵלָֽיו׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:15 Elia sprach: So wahr der HERR Zebaoth lebt, vor dem ich stehe, ich will mich ihm heute zeigen.(dhs) 1Ki 18:15 Then Elijah said, "As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely present myself to him today."(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 18:16 ============ 1Ki 18:16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.(nas) 1Ki 18:16 καὶ ἐπορεύθη Αβδιου εἰς συναντὴν τῷ Αχααβ καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτῷ καὶ ἐξέδραμεν Αχααβ καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς συνάντησιν Ηλιου (lxx) 1Ki 18:16 Abiit ergo Abdias in occursum Achab, et indicavit ei: venitque Achab in occursum Eliæ.(vulgate) 16 ׃18 וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ עֹבַדְיָ֛הוּ לִקְרַ֥את אַחְאָ֖ב וַיַּגֶּד־ל֑וֹ וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ אַחְאָ֖ב לִקְרַ֥את אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:16 Da ging Obadja hin Ahab entgegen und sagte es ihm an. Ascendens itaque Achab, abiit in Jezrahel:(vulgate) 45 ׃18 וַיְהִ֣י ׀ עַד־כֹּ֣ה וְעַד־כֹּ֗ה וְהַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ הִֽתְקַדְּרוּ֙ עָבִ֣ים וְר֔וּחַ וַיְהִ֖י גֶּ֣שֶׁם גָּד֑וֹל וַיִּרְכַּ֥ב אַחְאָ֖ב וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ יִזְרְעֶֽאלָה׃ Kings1 1Ki 18:45 Und ehe man zusah, ward der Himmel schwarz von Wolken und Wind, und kam ein großer Regen.
